I just love northernlion's laugh at the end of that.
Lion, when you said "That's the way dad did in, that's the way America does it, and it's worked out pretty fine so far" reminded me of how Uncle Ghastly talks.
You can jump down to cling onto a ledge from any height, just like falling on top of enemies. Keep that in mind when an edge is right below your position

The Northerlion Story
So, I began watching 4pp's playthrough of "Spelunky!" and I stopped about three minutes in. I have a new respect for your adaptability, NL.
No, LIon, there are no dark levels in the ice caves. But here are some hedjet tips:
1. u have the hedjet and a pickaxe? mine all day and night cause the ghost doesn't apear if you have it!
2. Ever wondered where are the dark levels in the temple? There aren't any with the hedjet!
You can also push the explosive crates. They will blow up if you push them off a ledge, though.
You can also throw boomerangs up and/or down diagonally

I feel you somehow rush and overthink these levels at the same time

Possible Tip: This is based on the PC version so it may or may not work, but try placing a bomb on top of the idol. In the PC version if you destroyed the gray platform the idol sits on, the idol's trap would not trigger.
He decided to call it monty as well, without knowing that michael called it monty.
Hilarious end to that video. Good run! Fun to watch.

Northernlion in the chests guarded by the shopkeeper are diamonds I believe. I think they're worth something like 10,000 each or something.
If he misses his 1000th video spectacular with you then make him replay all of his Poison Mushroom games. All the way through.

Northernlion, I can't stress this enough, but you still don't know the proximity of bombs. One bomb has a radius of two blocks. If you could please maybe thumbs this up so he can see this a lot easier?

NL if you go in to options and turn the brightness all the way up you will be able to see in the dark levels! ;)
On next runs try to sacrifice 2 Monty, so you can get the kapala and recive health every time you make an enemy bleed

10:41 starts a comment about wanting a jet pack... missed jet pack on previous floor, near the top of the screen "hidden" in the dirt (that was at 9:48).

It's actually at 9:47 and no player who is moving would ever see that.
Like what? Why not be specific, and therefore helpful? What would you recommend?
By the way, people tend to watch NL's videos for the amusing commentary and to laugh at his reactions, rather than to enjoy his 'amazing skills'. Watching it this way might solve your 'boredom problem', which sounds pretty stressful. ;)

yeah in the top right corner, he might have found it if he explored a bit more but NL doesn't generally bomb the items out of walls.

you could have just placed the sword at the entrance, grabbed the idol, go to the entrance and the idol will disappear and quickly just grab the sword right beside you and leave
i think it might be a vlog or the special issac video he has been working on
then go to the top of the level and there is a door go through that and you will unlock a character and the achievment to hell and back.
Northernlion, it is impossible for the Black Market to spawn on 2-4. The reason being the Black Market counts as one of the 4 jungle levels you have to get through to make it to the Ice Caves. If you got it on 2-4, then the Black Market level would technically be 2-5 (which is obviously impossible). Knowing this, you should be VERY DILIGENT searching for said market. That is your biggest weakness at this point in your Spelunky career. (19:10 Also, you said that you got to Hell b4? wut?)
9:48 misses jetpack easily available for the low cost of most likely one bomb.
Wow I was looking at that jetpack full on and I still thought it was a gem, I don't blame NL at all for missing that.
Its a game, if you take a game so seriously that you believe it's the right situation to get pissed at someone then you need to get out more.

It is possible for the Black Market to be in the Jungle. It just can't be in 2-4 (Which is what you said but with a first sentence that means what you say)
BOMBS go through 2 BLOCKS you could have easily gotten through some of those walls earlier. I hope you remember this in the future. Great commentary =)

Its not worth it because of the risks involved with the idol in the mines, pissing off the shop keeper in the mines is gonna make the rest of your run difficult.

you can change it between a girl, guy, and a dog in the options.
If you're talking about the idol its because its only $5000 and there is a high chance of hitting a shop, even if you check and there is no shop you might hit the guy in the wall with the chests. also the boulder will destroy tons of shit gems, gold and crates. also if your going to the black market you will always get $50000 as long a you search well enough. shit you'll most likely get more than enough thats why it pisses me of when northernlion doesnt buy anything at the stores. and thats why

there is a little door down at the lava get olmeg to die on the right under the door.and then get in the door and you will be in hell.after that SURVIVE and DON'T take the damsels they're fake and will kill you instantly.at the fourth level of hell you will come to yama's lair.that is the final boss.first he spawns two minions when they die they drop bomb boxes.now place some bombs on each of yama's hand and after that on his head.when you do that a flying head will appear place some bombs on it
