"Eliminating an object that you don’t use from your space is no more wasteful than not using an object that is in your space." - A little gem right there... thank you for your wonderful videos as always... you often have so many new ideas or views that really is worth sharing and I´m so glad you do this through your videos :) XX

I had to eliminate this mindset that giving things away for free is somehow my loss. Giving things away is how I gain back control in my life and it's also rewarding to know that it will be a gift to someone else.

    you have beautiful skin ❤❤
Can you make a video about your skincare/diet? That would be so helpful!

I had not ever considered the concept of minimalism as a goal for myself, as I am just trying to stay afloat, amidst years of accumulation. I'm constantly battling fatigue and discouragement, mostly stemming from chronic illness, but determined to keep moving forward. I just had to stop, in the midst of kitchen de-cluttering, and let you know how thankful I am to have discovered your channel. I appreciate the reminder that life has so much more to offer than managing "stuff". I'm attempting to change my focus to the possibilities, rather than the drudge of the process. Your kind words, and gentle way of speaking are like having a friend alongside. I always smile when your closing words come around. I believe that you genuinely hope that we all "have a good rest of our day" : ) And I am genuinely thankful for you.

Thank you! This comment means so much, because it really resonates-there have been so many times I feel like I’m so far off of where I want to be and a lot of that is related to my own fatigue due to chronic illness. This comment makes me feel so much less alone and like I do have a friend out there who’s in it with me! Thanks for the kind words. You got this. :)

So glad it finally someone touched on the topic of decluttering versus minimalism. And if you're always having to declutter, you're probably not minimizing what you bring into your home and what you're getting rid of out of your home so glad you touched on that❤

Decluttering is such a long journey.
I did declutter two full shampoo bottles, 5 pieces of clothing and one pair of shoes today. I gave them to my colleagues at work. Hopefully I'll be closer to my personal goal by the end of 2023.

The "Collection control" and intake awareness is a constant battle. T❤he process of decluttering reminds me that if I bring something in I'll have to get rid of something else to avoid piling up again. This video is so helpful. ❤

Stop the incoming flow ✋ This is key

It is! For everyone who is struggeling with this: Start with yourself. Don't blame your in-laws for giving you unwanted gifts, really take a look on your own habits instead. What are you buying? Which free gifts do you collect?
I declutter every 3-4 months. It's what I need for maintenance. Sure, I usually get some unwanted gifts for Christmas or for my birthday. But they are not a big deal. The stuff I receive at those occasions and don't want or need in my life leaves my home within a week. The people who gave me the stuff meant well and it's not a lot of stuff. I had to work on what I bring into my home myself to reduce the incoming flow.
Might be a different situation if you have kids though.

You have shared so many nuggets that other minimalist youtubers leave out. This video was extremely helpful to me...especially if I'm "coaching" others as they try to minimize. I'm not a professional but I like to help out friends.

Your #9 point was definitely the most important. My problem is people keep giving me stuff that I don’t necessarily need or want.

I keep thinking I can never be a minimalist but that's because I tend to hoard things. I do declutter but I am always collecting more things especially books. It's the aquiring that I need to work on.

Liking your tips very much. Decluttering has been my lifelong goal and although I have done a lot, I still have too much and don’t want to have people over due to embarrassment.

Number 8 is great. Saying no so you can say yes to everything that is important to you. Let the yes be what guides you, just like the decluttering method where you select what you want to keep.
I wonder if this has something to do with the silent to do list (I would love to see a video from you on this topic btw). Surrounding yourself with things that you fullheartly say yes to surely creates a very special environment to flourish in.
I have been doing this minimalism thing for nearly ten years but I have never thought about it this way. Really thought provoking!

The messy rooms, the unmade beds, those are things that should be addressed - if they are a source of discomfort. What I dont understand is : why is being a minimalist supposed to be the answer? Just make the bed!
