What's helped me set boundaries is reminding myself that I need to prioritize myself, my needs, my wants, my health. It's non-negatable & remembering that someone else's urgency is not MY urgency. When the inner chatter comes in, I push it out by saying I AM WORTHY of this small time to myself, I deserve it! 🥰🥰🥰
Best for cutting screen time on your phone I’ve found is having it in black and white (greyscale) during the day and with a red screen (blue light blocker) at night. You can set up shortcuts for these In the accessibility section. Then you only have it in colour when you need to do social for work. It makes it much less engaging and easier on the eyes at night, plus it cuts the addiction factor.
About 6 years ago I got off facebook because it was time-consuming. I recommend using a mindfulness bell. Mine is in my phone and tings every 20 minutes, which makes me and my husband pause whatever we are doing and be aware of 3 breaths- that just means noting your own body. We abstain totally from alcohol and dropped coffee this year in favour of decaf tea.I drink a huge green smoothie (w. apple and banana, lots of greens) during the day which keeps me hydrated and calmer than I was before.
You are (in my eyes) so warm hearted, crystal clear and honest about life. That is very inspiring. I hope you take care of yourself and listen to your inner voice, as you already do. It seems like your intuition is strong! 💕👏
Omg, the B-roll in this is amazing! Is all of this new or unseen video? Also, I am a physicist and I feel the need to tell you that electromagnetic radiation (light, but longer wavelengths) from your phone is truly harmless. There is not enough energy to interact with your body. Airplane mode being good for your mental health and restfulness is great!
I've avoided the whole ADHD thing since I was diagnosed 13 years ago but I have realized a lot of my anxiety, restlessness, and boredom comes from this, constantly looking for dopamine hits, shopping, food etc. I'm also massively addicted to social media too. The airplane mode is a great idea I need to try it!
As an anxious perfectionist it took me years to realize I need to pick my battles and prioritize sleep. It was a difficult lesson to learn and I'm still at the beginning of reseting my thought process, but I know it's crucial for my well being. Also accepting that I'm not 20 anymore and it's ok to not have as much energy.
How wonderful to find joy is the smallest things. I love a Saturday morning with the sun streaming through my French doors drinking a good coffee. If you appreciate these small things too, then no, you are not a machine Jenny, just young enough and full of life!
"That boy. . I'm not worthy." Aw. Sweet. Yesss. It is so interesting to be a minimalist SO long but still are like, "I feel like I have too much stuff," while other people are like, "What are you talking about? I don't really even see anything in your home." Just getting rid of everything feels so good all the time. haha. I have really never been a purse person at all. That bag you have in this video is unique and I always applaud sustainable and ethical practices for products. Your kitchen does look lovely with the sun coming in from that shot. I have a time when the sun is on my bed in my bedroom and I like to lay on it when I see it there. It feels so nice. Then when the sun is going down, it shines through my bathroom directly to a hallway. The light glistens through the hanging plant I have in front of my bathroom window and I just feel it looks lovely. It is those little things that you appreciate.
Last year I found myself in a similar situation - way too much screen time and noise that constantly disturbed me. When I started putting my phone down, setting timers on apps (social media mainly) I noticed such a big difference. I became much more present, calm and focused. Sometimes I can't understand that I scrolled away so much time just to feed my brain with "unreal" dopamine kicks.. Lots of love from a new subscriber in Sweden, Kram!
Jenny! I am so happy you said this - I dont reply to emails (anymore), sometimes not even text messages unless its from my close circle AND IM LOVING THIS LIFE
Hi Jenny, there’s a word for it: ambivert. I am one too and I have learned that I need both social times and alone times. In the weekends I need at least 1 day where I don’t have any social obligations. Luckily, being social can also mean that I go out and have a coffee at the cozy coffee bar in my neighbourhood where people just can converse with the other guests even if they don’t know each other. But if you don’t feel like it, that’s also totally fine! I’m editing my comment to add that if you haven’t read it already, I highly recommend the book “stolen focus” by johann Hari. A lot of the things you talk about are discussed in this book, such as screen time, work and productivity, social media etc. It was one of the most important books I read maybe in my entire life. That sounds dramatic, but it really opened my eyes.
I’m so happy to see most of my favorite content creators cutting back on screen time these days. I started doing some intentional experiments with it last year and like you said in the video - we are dealing with a LIFE CHANGER here. It feels silly somehow because it feels like we all know this on an intellectual level but it isn’t until you actually start reducing screen time that you realize how much of a life quality upgrade it truly is. Love the video!
One of my favourite UA-camrs has shifted from posting a video once a week to posting one video every two weeks, and honestly, I love it. Not only for her and that it leaves her with more time for her family, but also for me! Her videos feel like a real treat now and I don't feel 'pressured' to make time to keep up with her posting schedule every week. Screen time should be that small treat, like a really good praline, that you get food for thought from and that enriches your life. Unfortunately it has become that thing we are almost 24/7 distracted by. It has become our junk food.
I'm so happy I came back to binge your recent videos! You really make me smile at my laptop screen, it's so funny and unusual among all the meaningless screen time. Then, ironically, you make me so eager to turn it off and practice enjoying the little things. Thank you Jenny!🌞
Hi, Jenny. Pre-planning things in the most minute detail is too controlling and leads to stress. Also, very often in life things do not go as expected. I used to teach languages and planning lessons was an unavoidable part of the job. I gradually started going to classes with a smaller list of objectives but a bigger set of materials I could use. I let spontaneity and improvisation take over. My students loved it. I wasn’t following a script, but allowing them to participate and influence lessons more and even go beyond pre-planned objectives if I felt they were ready.
Listening to your intuition, saying "no" and being mindful about work is EXACTLY my coaching expertise. I would love to help you with that, Jenny 🤩🌿I call it: Build your inner home, where you can truly just be yourself and relax (without guilt, stress or overwhelm).
A lot of people I know complain about e mails and I tell them to unsubscribe they hesitate .... people are weird. Love the calm the beautiful scènes and your calming voice. Thank you for the tips
Jenny you speak my language. I'm not on instagram any more, I'm taking life slower. My 'word' for the year is recommitment. I'm recommiting to myself, to minimalism, and to the small joys I find everyday. Like you, I go hard sometimes and I get myself in a tizzy. This year, its all about realigning with myself and who I am. Thank you for the video. 💕
Wow Jenny, this one really hit the nail on the head! I am older so I am not involved in the work cycle anymore, but I paint and that really takes me away from everything, like a meditation (on a good day). Now let's talk airplane mode! My partner drilled this into me a long time ago..leaving the phone, or any device on in not healthy! I def turn it off at night and I should do so more during the day. We recently had a major storm and had a 2 night power outage. The first day was a real drag but by day 2 I was not missing tech one bit...and yes you do sleep better. Now it is back and I am going, as per your advice, to try to give my routine habits (and general waste of time) a break..and perhaps focus on the shadows on my wall, when the sun returns! Thank you Jenny. I love how you love life and we all should be more grateful for every day we are here and all our ups and downs. One more thing, do vegan bags last long?? These are beautiful!
I like the adding in the good to help push the rubbish out. Ever since returning to further my education and career last fall, I’ve been setting a 5-10 time for simply sitting in silence before beginning all my daily tasks and oh man!- it helps! Just that little pocket to breathe helps so much, and I love how it feels like for just a few minutes, I can calmly observe from a little island in my brain the time passing and my breath rhythmically flowing. ❤ be gentle to yourself my dears 😊 and thank you Jenny
Super similar to my goals this year! Just more time to really settle down and enjoy what I’m doing. My New Year’s resolutions this year are to go on 20 long walks and shut down my computer every single day after work (instead of just letting it sleep with all the windows still open, so I come back the next morning to a big mess!)
I’ve started to move social media, my school app and such to my ipad instead of having them on my phone. This way it’s not contently in my pocket. I need to go a step further to check them and do so when I feel like it. It’s worked quite well for me. After this video I’m considering only having the email app on there as well. I also have my phone on “focus” between 19.00 and 08.00. Most people don’t need to be able to reach me 24/7.
I can so relate to the switching between intro- and extroverted, I think it's called ambivert. But I think, intro- or extrovert: Everyone needs time where they are not available. Otherwise you never calm down.
I have actually had a few years of just calm and quiet. Im a little ready for a “curiosity” year. Go to shows, plays and new things that I am not sure how they will be. I always was labeled as in extrovert by everyone and I honestly thought so to. But I decided I didnt want labels anymore. I am also both(extro and intro) sometimes more of one than the other. I appreciate your wisdom and input! 💜
Dear Jenny, I have found a simple way for myself to see if I am doing well and to always be close to "me": I pay attention to my breathing every few hours. If I find it difficult to take a deep breath, this is usually a sign that I'm not feeling well. If I can take a really deep breath straight away, I'm usually fine. Maybe this will work for you too. :)
Love this video ❤ I never thought of being both, introvert and an extrovert but I must say that pretty much describe me 😊 Love the not replying emails! When I went off Facebook a few years back, I wrote my last post “yes I will forget your birthday, its not to be mean, we use to do it all the time in the 90tis 😊” So far no one is offended 😊
Hi Jenny. I absolutely love your content, personal style and gorgeous home. Please could you tell me where you bought your glass teapot and warmer from?
Of course you dont have to be available! Just because the phone rings does not mean you have to answer, same with the door i tell my son to say i am not receiving guest today LOL if you have an intercom system its even better , enjoy ;)
Loved this video! I’m also in that Still Fresh Start state of mind and have been working on refining exactly what changes and “detoxing” I’ll be doing. I started airplane-ing my phone since you mentioned it in your recent video and, my goodness, I was so focused for the time while I was working. I want to airplane my phone more often, but I think I’m always worried about missing an important message from a loved one, as unlikely as that might be if I’m away for a few hours. Does anyone have advice for this?
Quick question Jenny, what type of green tea do you drink? Your tea always looks so green and a little bit "murky". The tea I drink tends to become dark brown like black tea.
I hate email. I always felt like I was the only one. When did we all sign up for this form of communication ughhhhhhgrgrgrh 🙃 And 'Do Not Disturb' is the best phone feature lol
I love you content Jenny!! I am a huge advocate for people to find out their Human Design type. I am a Reflector and have been overusing my energy my entire life because I wanted do work like Generator types. If you could check your Type it would help a lot to navigate your energy. I feel like you are very similar to what I am experiencing hence this suggestion. I am available to share if you are interested. Wishing you lots of time to relax 💞🧚🏻
What a great suggestion! One of my daughters is a Reflector. I am a Projector. Almost died from the burnout. You are right - Jenny is definitely not a Generator.
Your videos are so calming. It's so lovely to hear someone with common sense.
Oh thank you!

Me too!!
Slowly is the fastest way forward. No matter the surrounding noise may tell one otherwise. Thank you for the link to One Day. Right on time :)

okay that’s IT, you’ve influenced me hah ♥️ no more emails, i am done xxxx
Lovely background music, my favorite! I am so relaxed after watching your video, thank you 😃

Turning waste into luxury is something for freethinkers! I love this idea.:) I will spend more time reading than watching what's on the internet.

I am cutting animal products out of my diet and I try to use up a lot of stuff that I own. Biggest challenge is to make myself not that much stress :)
I will not use the telephone...I have morphed it into a "personality quirk" but truthfully, I just hate talking on the phone.
Jennie, your videos inspires a lot✨

Love the cloud colored luna bag super cute!
Speaking of your food choices in this year, I would like to see videos just on food sometimes.

Same! I want to declutter my life!

I need to work on less screen time. I put the timer on the phone to count the hours of screen time, and it was shocking! Such an eye opener 🙈
Jenny so important information in all your videos. I hope you will do "shorts" too. Like little reminders, to help in everyday life!🥰
Love this video ❤ I never thought of being both, introvert and an extrovert but I must say that pretty much describe me 😊

Those bags are amazing😊🎉love them, what a great sponsor!
This opened up some really good ideas. Good one!
Love that bag! So cute and what a great idea to be multiple purpose! 😍
Gratefully balanced living every day🌟
Ahhh I am here with you on being happily easy to please by life itself.
Hi Jenny. I absolutely love your content, personal style and gorgeous home. Please could you tell me where you bought your glass teapot and warmer from?
It's from mono :)
Nice video and lovely music 😊
Of course you dont have to be available! Just because the phone rings does not mean you have to answer, same with the door i tell my son to say i am not receiving guest today LOL if you have an intercom system its even better , enjoy ;)
I am at day 132 of 1000 no alcohol.
Worth it? Yes , probably.
Can we have a video on vegan fashion? specially shoes!
Love the bags so cute.

Mono filio :)
Thank you! 🎉

I think around 13:35 or so the brand is on screen
Thank you!!@@Karincl7
Yes I am also introverted and extroverted!
jenny, have you seen the film "perfect days"? Its gonna slow you right down.
Nope, I am an introvert and love it. :)
Definitely will try airplane mode! I need to practice saying no, too...
Loved this❤❤😊
I hate email. I always felt like I was the only one. When did we all sign up for this form of communication ughhhhhhgrgrgrh 🙃 And 'Do Not Disturb' is the best phone feature lol
Goodluck Jenny
