Opeth is literally an entire universe. They paint it in my mind when I listen their music. Everything from Orchid to Watershed represents Night and Darkness. That's why Damnation is so different from their new albums. Everything after Heritage represents Day and Light. Opeth is bigger than God because unlike God they exist.
I've heard of these guys but never listened until now. Instant fan! What an incredible band. 2021 will be spent catching up with what these guys have done to date.
I can’t believe after a decade that I heard this song for the first time it’s still performed tremendously by opeth!!! I still can’t get the fact that the mix is so damn good, you can clearly hear that bass smoothly!!!
No other band in this world can make me feel the feelings that I feel when I listen to the music Opeth makes. Incredibly unique. Thanks for making life a little less miserable by connecting me with my misery with this weirdly dissonant sad AND evil sound. It's late autumn now. Perfect to listen to this masterpiece
He has definitely had to train hjs vocal cords to apply a different way of getting those growls to sustain with the more melodic singing. Truly Inspiring ❤️. I love this band.
This show was so good, it's great to have such a perfect recording to remember it! Devin Townsend then Gojira were the openers, and the cameras were flying around recording Gojira as well. I really want to see Gojira's recording from this same night!
I went to a metal festival once in Toronto. Mastodon was there. GWAR was there. Opeth came on part way through the day after some much heavier bands, and when Mike growled into the microphone I thought the fucking roof was going to come down. Could almost hear the sound engineer panicking, like, crap, I had this set for all the other vocalists.
I'm turning 30 this year. Have been a metalhead since I was 14. Always heard of Opeth, never really listened to them. Holy shit, what the fuck have I been doing with my life....
This video and basically every concert video you've seen that takes place at Red Rocks NEVER fully captures how magnificent and magical this venue is. It is beyond words the feelings that overcome you in the middle of the headliner, after dark, and the crowd suddenly morphs into one gigantic entity, an ocean of people. You truly lose yourself, and that's just being SOBER lol. Believe me I've seen some people damn near have out of body experiences at that place. Best venue on Earth.

This just shows that to put up a hardcore metal show.. You don't need to change into hardcore dresses and attitude,... This band remind me of Megadeth,... They are both simple on stage but the sound they produce is beyond this realm
This drumstyle is amazing, you found not much drummers who can this play, he plays real cords , I think I can here him play 2 hours without other instruments and its amazing 😎👍👍👍👍👍👍
I hope they play Ghost of Perdition when I see them live in November in DC with Mastadon. Got my tickets already and everyday it gets closer I get more pumped!
This is a symphony of kick ass, sadness and death and I love it! This is right up there with the "Bohemian Raphsody's" and "Dream On's" masterpiece, gotta love those transissions!!!!!
I wish Opeth would do more songs like this, honestly. He doesn’t have to scream on every single song, but he never did that in the first place. It’s just kind of hard to call them metal anymore with their recent albums... I get it, they evolved and grew.. but they are such a driving force in metal, and they’re slowly losing that.
We’ll miss axe dearly. Opeth will never be the same without him. New drummer did a pretty good job at learning the songs and making sure they could still tour but I really don’t think the band will ever be the same.
Ultra Pissed Off i missed this show... At least i got to see them for my 18th birthday in LA with IN FLAMES. Amazing show.. Thanks Dad & Thank you Opeth, In Flames, the roadcrew, stagehands, lighting cheifs ect!!

@facepalm486 i have listened to more than you could imagine. Tool are pretentious with mathematical cringe. DT and KC are my all time favorites and Porcupine tree/SW is the only band that can be kept parallel to Opeth
@facepalm486 see for me, music should represent some kind of emotion and also, that shouldnt be deliberate. DT PT KC Opeth these bands have never composed something to prove their instrument capabilities. If you cant take a criticism about Tool, you too somewhere need to get down and listen to more soulful stuff no matter how much technical/non technical it is. I have learnt so many things from Danny carey but when it comes to memorable and emotional melodies, i dont recall many except schizm 46 &2 jambi right in two
The fuck with this cringy comment..just watch the video..give a like and fuck off..after 2-3 years you would realise that there's no 'entry point'. Good bands are good but no need to overbloat anything.
I agree Abhishek ... Opeth is unlike anything I've heard. I've heard Rush, Dream Theater, Kansas, Genesis, etc. It is beautiful and sad at the same time, brutal and light, perfect ... Hugs from Brazil, and sorry for my english.
Man, I wish I could've been there. Such a musical experience! Opeth remains my only band related tattoo. These guys are everything I'd want in a death / progressive metal band. Atmospheric, heavy, melodic. \m/
We must confess Mikael's growls don't have the same emotions like before, even his cleans, he's singing like talking. Maybe since he's getting old. But Opeth is still my dearest for sure.

@@dtd1986 Dude, just stop! Mikael's growls are better than ever. Harsh and deep as fuck.
definitely not better than ever. They're still very good though
@@temporarymomentary I've been a fan of Opeth for more than a decade, I've heard Mikael growl both on record and live... this? This is Mikael's worst attempt at growling by FAR. Listen to this clip and then listen to his growls from any gig they did around the release of "Ghost Reveries".. if you still can't see this is bad, well...
(And I loved this bad, I don't bash on Mikael easily.. he's a brilliant musician and an awesome dude, but he has lost his growling touch these last few years. It's sad, but it's the truth)
EVEN THE FANS ARE IN SHOCK.
Ive seen Opeth live with 500 People only. Was my first time ever hearing them.
His voice is amazing even when he speaks to us. The clean gitar sound. The darkest devil voice in The same guy. Im Lucky to have seen this band live. Its so clean and strange.
Sweden 🥰
What a great gift to the world this band is.... Just seen them in Milan; wonderful show. I'm always amazed by how much they change from one song to another, or even within the same song; but always remaining on point and sounding distinctive... one of my fav band ever.
This is the best mix I've ever heard for a live band.
9:14 is probably the best live transition I have ever seen
Super clean. It doesn't get better than this.
the riffs in this song can make up a pop artist's entire career
Anyone else get the chills when listening to this masterpiece?
I get the chills listening to every one of their songs, they are that good.
I've heard of these guys but never listened until now. Instant fan! What an incredible band. 2021 will be spent catching up with what these guys have done to date.
Curious to see how much you have heard now?
I can’t believe after a decade that I heard this song for the first time it’s still performed tremendously by opeth!!! I still can’t get the fact that the mix is so damn good, you can clearly hear that bass smoothly!!!
Was feeling somewhat depressed before listening to this, feeling better after listening to this, thank you Opeth.
Best Opeth song ever. Has everything anyone could want.
Sirius Black on vocals, Hagrid on lead guitar, and on keyboards and backing vocals Ms. Hermionne Granger!
i believe this is the best metal song i've heard so far
check out some other older Opeth albums, you might like it.
Best song I've ever heard: Vektor - Recharging The Void
The drummer freakin' nail it!!Denggg!!
I found myself in the crowd, this was such a killer show!
That's it. I'm getting an Opeth tattoo. This performance just sealed the deal.
I'm too hahaha
7:11 barely sounds human, holy shit
This is insane, it literally sounds almost identical to the studio version. Everything about this is perfect
Best band ever!
My favorite song!
OPETH!!
mine too bro. my favorite album by them
@Rosida Andriyana brit pls leave
such a good sound quality for a live vid by a band that has near perfect albums release after release. goosebumps are an understatement
Mikael's growls sound a bit forced here but hoenstly, who gives a shit because the sound production totally makes up for it. I can hear the bass!!!
this is a masterpiece... amazing band, amazing song, performance is top notch, location is crazy good looking... sounds better than the studio album!
"Garden of the Titans" couldn't be more fitting. Outstanding performance, and production! What a treat
Such an impressive performance. I want to see them live so badly.
That acoustic guitar effect is 10/10
I'm turning 30 this year. Have been a metalhead since I was 14. Always heard of Opeth, never really listened to them. Holy shit, what the fuck have I been doing with my life....
The growls have moved in a new direction. Almost Mithras-esque.
There's a lot of Morbid Angel in their sound but they turn it into something unique.
Fucking Mithras😍😍😍
@@Mikeoneus Masters Apprentices really is the MA worship song. Especially that part where he says 'Emptiness' definitely a nod to God of Emptiness
Who is Opeth? Easy, the best band ever walked on this world
This modern world?
@@medina1camilo antic too
Agreed they are indeed godly.
I like u sir/ma'am. 😘
God Damn right son.
Words can't even describe what I feel everytime I listen to this masterpiece. Ghost of Perfection. 🙌🏿 true artists.
Love and Respect from Nairobi, Kenya.
This just shows that to put up a hardcore metal show.. You don't need to change into hardcore dresses and attitude,... This band remind me of Megadeth,... They are both simple on stage but the sound they produce is beyond this realm
I actualy was searching for Dev Townsend, came across this, giving it a listen, blown away by major sigma fucking metal
This drumstyle is amazing, you found not much drummers who can this play, he plays real cords , I think I can here him play 2 hours without other instruments and its amazing 😎👍👍👍👍👍👍
Mikaels growls sound as good as ever, why no more DM tracks? Please Opeth IM BEGGING YOU I NEED OPETH DEATH METAL IN MY LIFE
Same here
Yeah we all do
Yes, the growls sound different. Do they sound bad? Hell no! Mikael's growls are spot on!
Kind of like Nergal now.
@@grizzlymanverneteil4443 I think they both had to adapt for their health. No point in blowing your voice out!
I hope they play Ghost of Perdition when I see them live in November in DC with Mastadon. Got my tickets already and everyday it gets closer I get more pumped!
Same!!!! Tonight is the night! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
The growls aren't like the old times, but they're still absolutely glorious.
Great performance!
True !!! But" once opeth always opeth"
I can actually under stand the lyrics.
I think they are even better nowadays
I saw them a couple months ago and he sounded much better than here, growls and clean both!
Whoever did the mixing for this live show should get a shout out. Incredible!!!
The acoustic (piezo) sounds great. Wow! I wonder what they're using aside from the PRS piezo bridges to get that sound.
It's amazing how Mikael Akerfeldt's voice it's perfect at the guturals and at the clean vocals. This guy is a god.
They are all chill as a cucumber the whole time
We’ll miss axe dearly.
His clear vocals are sooo crisp and bright, and then he starts to growl like a fucking demon again. Mikael, don't you ever change your style.
These guys are geniuses... Just like Gojira and Mastodon.... Best metal bands ever...
I love this comparison.
Fully agree.
Each and every one of them has more talent in their little finger than I will ever have in my lifetime... 😍😍
Ps: the growls have been commented on enough. I think Mikael's HEAVENLY clean vocals also need a bit of love!
Always been a huge fan of Mikaels cleans. Watershed was the first Opeth album I listened to and I was blown away by his voice.
He might have been kind of tired here because I also ADORE his cleans but I’ve heard better from him though!
This song is the entry point to another dimension of music. All other bands/musicians/artists come into same realm but not Opeth
@@abhishekchaubey903 right, as if Dream Theater wasnt pretentious technical jerking 99% of the time.
Flawless performance of a brilliant song. Whenever I hear Opeth I'm reminded how great they are
The lights technician are amazing. When this sound thru the big rocks, something magic happens. Great song.
Sounds like a studio record
Amazing work
AGREED!
We must confess Mikael's growls don't have the same emotions like before, even his cleans, he's singing like talking. Maybe since he's getting old. But Opeth is still my dearest for sure.
2 days into no nut november and i have failed myself
me too
wait is that really a thing?
@@quiltface83 It is
best comment ever!!!!!!!!!
So how we all doing with that?
This band really exemplifies my upbringing with the weirdness of Uriah Heep and the smoothness of deep purple. I'm just in aww of the performance, with a sense of joy just to follow along the cheers of the crowd. Magnificent performance!
As always, Opeth rules ! Amazing performance, great sound, vocals awesome ! Can't wait to see Opeth again !!
Whoever got to attend this event witnessed one of the greatest moments in the history of the universe.
