The constant disrespect to authentic Jamaican actors is surreal , hard to watch someone who has no real understanding of our language playing these parts. It almost seems like they don't believe Jamaican actors can do justice to these roles. Sick of seeing it!!!!
I agree! though this show was very well done and accents weren't off. They are all it not most of Caribbean decent with direct experience as well!
Im American It seems like this is very common in the black diaspora because I noticed this in the TV show Black cake.
It's not about who portrays the characters. It's about the stories and how they help educate us. I am from the US, and there was an African British actress who played Harriet Tubman, the most powerful black woman in history. Now, after watching Black Cake, I am going to watch this movie too. Black art is made to celebrate!
Such rubbish. If the actor plays the part well that's what matters. What would you say if a Jamaican-born actor was denied a role of a non-Jamaican character, just because they weren't born where the character was born?
This has been happening to black Americans for years. Our icons are played by other nationalities. Get over it.
Enough with the black struggle content🙄😒
