Set in the early 1950s, Lessons in Chemistry follows Elizabeth Zott (played by Larson), whose dream of being a scientist is put on hold in a patriarchal society. When Elizabeth finds herself fired from her lab, she accepts a job as a host on a TV cooking show, and sets out to teach a nation of overlooked housewives - and the men who are suddenly listening - a lot more than recipes.
Starring alongside Larson are Lewis Pullman (“Top Gun: Maverick,” “Outer Range”), NAACP Image Award-winner Aja Naomi King (“How to Get Away with Murder,” “The Birth of a Nation”), Stephanie Koenig (“The Flight Attendant,” “The Offer”), Kevin Sussman (The Big Bang Theory,” “The Dropout”), Patrick Walker (“Gaslit,” “The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey”), and Thomas Mann (“Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty,” “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl”).
Lessons in Chemistry is produced for Apple TV+ by Apple Studios. Seven-time Emmy Award-nominee Lee Eisenberg (“WeCrashed,” “Little America”) serves as showrunner. Academy Award-nominee Susannah Grant (“Unbelievable,” “Erin Brockovich”) executive produces alongside Larson. Sarah Adina Smith (“Hanna,” “Looking for Alaska”) serves as director and executive producer of the first two episodes. I am reading the book right now. I cried yesterday when Elizabeth made the announcement to quit and shared the msg with the audience, especially ladies. It was so vividly touching.
I haven't actually watched the film yet, so everything I've said so far could be completely missing the point.

The book is so heartbreaking. I hope they put in the scene where the woman tells her she was inspired to become a doctor because of Elizabeth.
That's one of my favorite scenes in the book! I cried while I heard the audiobook version of it! And when she reads out the update at the end.

In the 1960s my town tore down a healthy Black neighborhood where descendants of slaves lived and owned businesses. Replacing those homes were a new municipal complex, chain stores, and parking lots. I'll never forget when a friend walked me to a tire store parking lot, pointed down at a couple of white lines and said, "This was my bedroom."
That's heartbreaking.

I love chemistry since i was in high school, i attended college but not in chemistry, is in Chemical Engineering. Chemistry is one of the few things that I like in the world and it's so rare to find something like this series and i love it. I learn many things.
Me too!! I was in Microbiology but Chemistry kept pulling me in. Oppenheimer is also chemistry too. I wish they have a better film about Marie Curie tho. Something more of chemistry rather than art.

One of the best shows I’ve seen in a while. I’m not sure what I expected but it was amazing. I need more shows like this, shows that make you feel something. Shows that focus on love and friendship. I cried so much 😭 watching this.

The show is great. But that's not the actual reason. Apple just opened the comment section for all their contents. That were always closed it. Maybe they want to be more open now.

@@ivanhall6482Avengers fan here and I think this trailer looks amazing. Perfect casting, in my opinion. I also thought her depiction of Captain Marvel in End Game was fine. Especially loved that one scene where she said hi to Peter.
I’ll be checking out this series later. Hopefully it’ll be as good as the clips I’ve seen of it suggest it is.
One of the best shows I have watched this year. Loved Brie in this. And the child actor who played the daughter was really good and cute too.
In my opinion, it's Brie's best performance since her Oscar winning performance in Room. Glad that she found a role that truly worth of her talent
I just finished watching the series, it was good... Every episode keeps u hooked. I really loved watching it and would recommend watching it. Waiting for the second season. I have a degree in chemistry too that's why i wanted to watch the show but its lessons about life how change is inevitable 💖and how in the end all the changes in life leads to something better.
This is a limited series. There will be no second season.
It was a one and done but if you want more you should read the book it was based on. It isn't a one to one translation. Six Thirty has a bigger role in the book and there are more chapters from his POV and there are story beats that weren't done in the series.

Every cast member is 🔥🔥 Easily one of the best shows I’ve watched! I don’t say this often about a show I love, but this one doesn’t even need a season 2..honestly.
The first two episodes were so cute, Elizabeth & Calvin got me rolling on my bed w/ their insane chemistry.. until that surprise.

I started the series last night because of a trailer I watch on facebook and is 5:51am and just finished. Love it! I felt true love, sadness, laugh and to many emotions on 8 chapters.. I did cry a lot and let me tell you I rarely cry.. this is a most watch series, especially for women.❤❤❤

Brie and Garmus are amazing. The context of the show and everything that she had to pass through is really proof of resilience and never dropping out on your dreams. And the hardest proof that we have in life are those who we make stronger. When we cry and feel like we can't do anything, it's when we need to become stronger and take the best out of ourselves. We are beautiful creations of the universe. ❤

I watched the first two eps and couldn't continue watching, even with the shocking end to ep 2. It was boring, I didn't like the characters and chemistry doesn’t interest me.

Been watching TV ever since the 8 inch round tube in a big wooden box. Read the book. Beyond any doubt this is the finest, most period accurate, best acted drama I have ever seen. If you have read the book remember the show is "based" on the book. No knife coming out of her purse but, spoiler alert, Phil does get fired.
Married to a scientist. One false note in this show, which I love. Men higher educated STEM professionals cannot dance. I wish they could. Brain types are opposite.

I know I am late to the party but I just had a chance to watch and finish this series and OMG!! I thought this was the best tv mini series I have ever seen in a long long time. Mainly because I saw this series come up for nomination for best series in the Emmys (and Golden Globe too I think) !! Now how this series DID NOT win anything is a shocker to me ,,, and how Brie Lawson DID NOT win anything is a double shocker to me ,, for her to memorize all those scientific and chemistry terms and learn the language NO ONE else can do that ,, just an amazing series. Bring on Season II ,, the cliff hanger was wow!!
