This trailer feels like what a wealthy person from California thinks a regular person from literally anywhere in america is like.
NGL lie tho - there is a shitton of people with these types of stories in LA and SF. I've lived in both places. This isnt far off.
Basically Nicola
Like Ladybird
😂 right
This is one of these trailers where you don't have to see the movie no more
Look at it this way, if they're showing this much, then imagine what they didn't show.
Wasn't gonna see it anyways lol
I don't even understand the plot ?
@@Ganbarizer more trans cringe probably
I feel like the majority of women nowadays are messed up because some mothers did messed up stuff in their past and they don’t lecture their daughters to not do what they did or have that heart to heart conversation. They take their anger out on their daughters when their daughters try to even enjoy life and that’s very toxic.
Some film trailers really be exposing the plot-twists left and right. Sometimes you can even guess how the film would end even from the trailer.
How does it end?
@@TheTexasSkeptic The mother realises the error of her ways and redeems herself by letting the kids be trans/gay or whatever.

The irony of her playing this role. I swear.
She wrote and directed the movie also.

🤣🤣🤣
YESS it does... omg.
Nicola Peltz is Jewish. Maybe she should've made this movie about a Hassidic girl. Strange how we never see movies like that...She passes because her mom is German-American.
Love when a billionaire nepo baby gets a passion project bankrolled where she gets to act like she knows anything about what it's like to be poor and in a rough family situation, but obviously gets to look super-hot doing it! No hate for the girlie, it's just very classique and a little bit boring xoxo
100%
Totally! For once, can't they look like utter shit (aka realistic for when your life is falling apart) and not glamorize being poor? Although this way she gets to live out a pauper fantasy of struggle, all while smoking like a "cool" girl, having perfect makeup, and twerking out the car like a "silly quirky sexy raunchy poor girl" LOL. She should watch a film like sometimes maybe always or the florida project for better depictions. Ugh
Female writer directors get trashed no matter what kind of work they make. If they make something that is representative of their own lives (like Lena Dunham became famous for doing - her first film was literally shot in her family's real apartment and starred her real family members as actors) they get trashed for that too. You can't win. Any of us who has actually put in the work to try to create something knows how much goes into it and it's not a matter of simply "cosplaying" as some of these comments are stating.
So what? She's lucky and you're not... get over it
Please shut up xoxo
well this screams "my billionaire daddy bought me a movie so I can imagine what it's like to be working class"
And your comment screams "I'm jealous that I don't have a billionaire daddy." Also what are the kids of rich people realistically supposed to do? Are they not allowed to have careers or goals just because they're from a rich family? Making movies is way better than her just sitting around and doing nothing with her life.
@@janaeg3523 Ehh, having a billionaire daddy almost guaruntees he's a pos. You know what'd be refreshing? If once, just once someone in her position with her money and platform did something about poverty as opposed to making a vanity project about it. Did someone on tik tok tell you to have this opinion?
All directors have money. Otherwise how are they going to finance a film and get it released in theaters. Do you want movies about poverty/struggle to end? Only movies/stories about the upper class are allowed now?
It's interesting how no one has this complain about other movies surrounding low income people, but maybe it's because those movies were made by men and older women
i feel like this is the aesthetic every rich white girl based their personality and the worst is if they are nepo babies, they will write, direct and star on movies about this type of struggle
100%
Agreed
what is your point
It's called "acting".
I didn't know she was a rich celeb
Now I get it the beckams were stuck on her to marry their son
She cast a black best friend tho guys, and she plays a striper, and she's saving her little sibling, like c'mon, it's like token after toke after token what else does a billionaire need to do to prove her realness?!
And her little bro wants to be a sister...another token
Ugh this is tough, because it looks like it has the makings of a great story, but if Nicola really wants to be a respected "filmmaker", she should have stuck to directing and given the lead role to someone that can bring authenticity to role. Otherwise, it's hard to look past this as anything more of a vanity project in order to become a reputable and even more famous actress that just steals and takes advantage of the story of so many that are not lucky enough to be born into extreme wealth. She picked the wrong project.
Thank you, I'm going to piggy back off this comment. I do not know who she is at all (but now I'm going to look her up) and yet in watching the trailer, I could absolutely feel that this girl playing this character could have no understanding of what that life would feel like...at all. It just didn't resonate. All I felt was very pretty and privileged person vibes. Not in a bad way,....but you just can't fake the funk.
She can't help that she was born into money she deserves to pursue her dreams like anybody else
What would have been really cool is if she had done an independent film about opulence and growing up as a good person with all the privilege and power to be terrible person and get away with. She should write about what goes on in Billionaires row, and all the messed things that happens in her demographic. Thats not allowed though so its easier to exploit poor people's issues that she has no relations.
She comes off as a very very vain woman. She can't act to save her life, and she knows it so she uses her looks. It's gross. But if this makes her feel relevant, then more power to her. But it's going to be a very lonely slide down to the bottom of the box office list. I hope this is a pet project for her, kind of like a science experiment. Because none of this from the writing, to the directing, to the production to the acting is by her own merit. I agree that she should have chosen a different actress to play the role. Someone more down to earth. But again, she is a pick me, look at me girl.
This 💕
Can't even be poor any more, the rich go and be that instead of us now.
Great comment. They going to make "poor" trendy and stylish
It’s not that deep
Best comment! X
If you live in a house and had Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and/or Disney Channel growing up, you weren't poor. Real ones live in an apartment and grew up with PBS.
😂❤ right
glad people in the comments are calling out this hypocrisy
This looks rough.....just string together 10 surface level "poor people" struggles add hot blonde with attitude and a black best girlfriend who cosigns her and BLAM what a great film.
what does someone like Nicola, the daughter of a billionaire, privileged since birth, know about a life like that? I will watch it but I just wonder...
It's almost seems a bit like cosplaying poverty for fun. And getting a salary from it
It's called acting. If everyone that acts in a movie had to live a life like their character, there wouldn't be any movies. Actors play all kinds of parts that they've never lived. How could there ever be any sci fi if only real aliens had to be cast?
So make your own fucking movie. You don’t have to be something to create a fictionalized version of things or make art. What an asinine question.
This might surprise you, but most movies are fictional.
People will say it's fiction, it's acting, but your critique is valid. Similar with Emerald Fennell's film Saltburn that came out in 2023. These stories only get made with money, and it's fascinating to me when the stories are usually 'cosplaying' wealth and class struggles that people in their position of privilege could NEVER understand. Nicola Peltz is not some regular industry nepo baby, she is literally the daughter of an octogenarian billionaire and his model wife. She would have to do some insane research and empathy to create a valuable story like this when you imagine what her childhood must have been like.
Again, we haven't seen the movie, but it's the valid critique on the state of how movies are able to get made, what stories get told, and who has the privilege to tell them.
Sometimes love just isn't enough. I grew up in a similar manner and chose not to have kids. No matter how much I would have loved them, I couldn't keep from passing on what I know of as love to them. I wish people would give more thought to having kids before they take that leap.

Repent Today Don't Wait for Tomorrow by Sensus Fidelium.
90% of people don't plan to have kids. You probably weren't planned either. So its out of their hands. But as soon as the child is born you with all your flaws is all they have for now. You can't change or cover urself up. That is now going to be ur child's first exposure. As adults we look back and actually realize that shit makes us wiser and strong. My parents flaws and mistakes when i look back was their life and where they came from. Today I'm a new mother (planned) and who and whatever i am will be my baby's exposure. For now its all he has. If anything i wana be me more. Messed up me. Crazy me. And just accepting who i am me. My flaws dont break me. But then again. Once you know the 'secret to life' the world kinda becomes light. Like nothing is heavy. Your parents. Your parenting. Your job. Your marraige. It all becomes light. God is the my secret
Gimme me a break. This is a vanity project only.

Every shot her makeup is perfect. Exactly like a poor person.

right! i think of girl interrupted whenever someone brings up how unconvincing lola was especially when it came to appearances. the reason why angelina jolie worked as lisa rowe was because she was willing to look like a "mess"- dead bleach blonde hair, dark circles, dull skin and eyes, etc. on-point makeup and lola pouting for the camera in every other scene makes it feel so unsubstantial and just not real at all.
Exactly. So totally off
The opening line in this trailer:
"I am the person I am today, because of the people that helped me, and the people that hurt me".
Aren't we all?

I think they could have fit NICOLA PELTZ BECKHAM at least another 3 times on the credit frame. The current 3 occurrences is simply not enough to get the point across.
wtf is that?! terrible name also, hood shame on her parent for that one.
So...I'm a little apprehensive. I don't believe that writers necesarily have to write about/can only write well about subject matter related to their experiences or life, but Nicola Peltz's father is a freakin billionare, like she did not grow up in a financially unstable or broken family whatsoever. She comes from the richest of the rich, a world of socialites and Wall Street. I don't believe she, in the slightest, can ever fathom what it means to grow up in the America that she is trying to portray. I think this is gonna end up being more fetishistic/make being poor into an aesthetic then like, good.
💯
A lot of people thought it was good so 🤷♀️
This looks like a student film. A high school student.
Especially when shots of her character seem more interested in featuring her looks than her emotions. Like girl, you're supposed to be impoverished, not posing for a fashion editorial on poverty💀

And the mom getting mad, claiming it's sin and calling the BOY the other F word...it's all just Hollywood saying ha ha look at these ignorant, racist, homotransphobic Christians! Can smell the stench of Hollywood hatred of decent God fearing people a mile away!
This perfect for happy people who want to spend a few hours getting really depressed!!!
this just gave me goosebumps, she looks gorgeous
She's really beautiful
what does this have to do with the movie??? You are so ridiculous.
@@jms5752 uh okay lol
She totally looks plastic surgery.
I'll watch it.I can tell this project is personal for her & regardless, I'm sure she's proud of it.
I really don't know why she thought this movie was a good idea
Oh fuck no there is no way this film is going to be good if she wrote it, directed it and acts in it…this is cringe , is she just trying to be edgy by writing film about an experience so far removed from her own? Don’t get this at all
yeah idk why rich kids love cosplaying being poor
Yea, shes a nepo baby, doesn’t mean she doesn’t know how to tell a story and doesn’t mean she has the same want for self worth and meaning in life. It looks really good.
Yeah, Sofia Coppola is a nepo baby and she is one of the best cinema directors! Let’s give to Nicole an opportunity!
Yes, i agree, but Nicola is actually not a nepo baby if you look at what the definition of a nepo baby is. It's only if they are in the same field of work as the parent(s). Her father is not a movie producer or director. He has made his fortune as an canny investor, starting out with vending machines, and progressing through other goods. She is the daughter of a businessman and a model. She had the courage to do this, to write, direct and star in this film because yes, she does have the money to do it, but she also would not have attempted it without having the wherewithal to know if she would "make the grade" , and as an actor she would not have got this role otherwise because her beauty is extreme, and envy from other people "you don't deserve this" would have happened even if she did do the best audition. She knew how she wanted to do it. She has done it. People will spit tacks even if it's fantastic due to envy of her background. One thing to bear in mind is that she really must love the arts to enter them, knowing that so many detractors will come out of the woodwork. I am female by the way, and much older than she is, but I've been in the arts for decades professionally, and the people dissing this trailer are just envious. If they did not know the information about her personal background, they'd go "wow, this looks amazing. Who is that amazing woman?" @@rojimenezzz
this gets funding but Kristen Stewart’s movie doesn’t get funding????
This is nepotism funding though
her dad is a billionaire
Kristen Stewart doesn't have a billionaire father who needs a tax write-off.
"Show business kids making movies of themselves"
She def would’ve been taken seriously had she found a new, super talented actress and wrote herself in as a side character. Similar to how Jennifer Lawrence was a nobody until ‘Winters Bone’ and was so phenomenal that her career skyrocketed and the underdog director got her first and so far only Academy nomination. Once Nicola proved her abilities as a good filmmaker she could then challenge herself by starring in her movies as well.
Why is everyone getting angry about an actor trying to ACT in a movie? 😂
That's what an actor does, it's their job!!
Like do yall think actors doing period movies actually lived in those period & know what it's like?? 🤣
Be ffrrr......
Umm people are getting angry because she CANT act. Or write. Or direct.
I did not realize the little brother was a little brother until the mother screamed that the makeup made him look like the "f slur." He wants to express himself in a way that he likes, but it is too much for a mother who is part of the church, so much so that she could use it as a kind of scapegoat. (Edit: I have not seen the movie, this is just from the trailer that I had just seen.)
i was like...why would you insult a little girl with that slur? then i realized!
Another gross woke movie🤮
Good for the mother!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
@@vanark1429just more Hollywood trying to make decent God fearing people look like a bunch of racist phobic bigots...I can smell it a mile away!
why is the daughter of a billionaire playing a role about a character in complete poverty.
Guess I'm one of the few who actually enjoyed it. My wife and I are both trans women who went through a lot of abuse from our parents, siblings, and kids at school, for just trying to exist, for the things we cant help nor choose. I haven't really seen a movie catch this so accurately.
In addition, it showed the life of a woman who was just trying to survive for her trans little brother, (sister, if they were allowed to be themselves, or had lived long enough to get away from their mother) while also trying to battle with the life of a being a dancer (& the exploitation and at times sw involved), the poverty & her addiction, and the lines they force us cross. You dont have to go through the real experiences to ACT. Whether you're affluent or not, we've all been though shit.
Otherwise, yeah, the trailer spoils a lot. But regardless, worth the watch.
This doesn't look very promising, and I was excited before I watched the trailer. It's very Lifetime ✌️✨
I don’t understand the backlash for this film? She’s playing a character, is that not the point of acting? Are gay actors not allowed to play straight roles now? Are blonds not allowed to color their hair and play the role of brunettes now? Y’all just love hating on anyone with money because hate is more acceptable than jealousy.
Because she got ten million from daddy and doesn't know jackshit about being poor and made a movie with all the pathetic stereotypes. Fck this garbage
Nicola Peltz is like a billionaire trust fund baby, what does she know about this life?
To everyone complaining, most who have never had to sell their body to survive, you don't get to gatekeep story telling about poverty and the like becuase 'you are not wealthy'. Big deal her dad is rich, at least she wants to work, wants to make films and is willing to put herself out there. When rich kids do something it's always dammed if they do, dammed if they don't, the double sword is not theirs to bear and everyones jealousy just makes them look petty. Virginia Madsen is a great actress, the fact she is in this just makes me want to watch it even more. Give Nicola some credit, she is working and not mooching off her parents, and this movie actually looks quite good. Everyone is so f*cking offended by nothing these days, and this is coming from someone who was so poor they had to resoort to selling their body to survive. You people need to get a life.
There are many actors born rich and they act great My only problem her smokey makup on eyes in every scene
I want to hate this so bad because it’s so clearly a sanitized version of what poverty and drug addiction look like. She is so clearly a supermodel and it’s unrealistic. Her face would be bloated from cocaine, she wouldn’t look like that. Hollywood is so frustrating. All this does is glamorize drug use IMO
Just enjoy the trailer it’s beautiful
all we see is a beautiful shot of a beautiful sad girl, no substance or whatsoever..
i feel like i just saw the entire movie already
Entire movie in this trailer. Why bother..
Hey, it's got Virginia Madsen in it.... I'M IN!
Lola might remind some people of their grandparents. But nonetheless, I find the plot distinct and interesting all the way through.
