I have no idea what I just watched. But somewhere between Benedict Cumberbatch and ABBA this started to look brilliant to me.
Same. "I love this song so I guess that means I have to watch this show" 😂 not the worst reason I've come up with
What's the name of the song
ABBA: S.O.S
They were not exactly experimental with their song names.
A kid was kidnapped and his dad made his son’s imaginary monster come alive? Am I right?🫨
@@CuriousPhilosopurr Intense amounts of stress can cause dissociation and hallucinations, so the imaginary monster is likely a hallucination for the father rather than being 'real'.
This is how a trailer should be done! Not a summary of the film but a teaser without giving everything away.
Amen. My partner gets annoyed at me for refusing to watch trailers- but I find it hard to watch the actual film if the entire plot has already been spoiled by them.
I saw a preview of the film. Edgar isn't actually real. He's actually Eric as a child. Eric is dealing with dissociative personality disorder from childhood trauma
Just only watch teasers then? And people who want trailers can watch trailers?
the dad killed the son bet ya
Much easier said than done. You need exceptionally talented people to make an effective trailer, that's why they're so rare.
You know the trailer is good when you don't know what is going on, yet you feel excited to see more.
How come you found this hard to understand???? Primary school kids can understand what's going on😂
rofl
what? the plot is obviously clear to understand
🤣🤣😂😂
@@osmankovacevic6135 Calm down little thing you aren't Einstein 😂😂😂😂
Ngl, Vincent should just hire that Sherlock Holmes guy. From what I've heard, he's really good at solving cases like these.
@kindabatooni9314 or he could discover RDJ.. 🤣
He's kinda expensive and uppity.
Where’s Waldo tho?🤧

Ngl? What's that
I am loving the return to 70's/80's film aesthetics.
Wouldn't this story be less possible in current day?
Never heard of a period film?
@@kevin4680 In a modern version, Edgar would’ve just used his cellphone to call the police.
@@kevin4680It’s not to compare.
Except the woke shit they put in the show..
The plot itself is very intriguing but having Benedict involved takes it to a different level. Definitely will be watching it
I’m watching it because of Benedict Cumberbatch.
Curious if the dad will be involved in the missing child. The trailer doesn't spoil much at all love it
And his American accent is getting better!
It's like written by kids...

People, if you haven't watched it, please do yourself a favour and see it. It was sooo good and the end got me to tears.
Me too I was crying like I was the parent. I loved that kid, it was the kindest kid someone could have. It would be a crime to make it feel bad. But the end relieved me. I made a promise to myself never become that parent. This show make people better. It’s a masterpiece everyone must watch it !!!
Episode 5!
I will trust you on this, going to watch it now.
You will not regret it...
I love that Benedict does all these personal films. Even with his success doing Marvel projects. He still sticks to what he does best.
He was successful before Marvel and I'll bet that he does not consider the role of Doctor Strange the highlight of his acting career...
He’s an actor. He acts.
Once you get that Marvel money then you can focus on the real work and indie projects and not be concerned about finances.
Marvel success lol. I no watch marvel
Movies and I know he is a good, great actor way way long time ago
What song is playing in the video?
I was crying non stop at the last episode. I am a guy in my 30s. It felt good to cry. I almost forget how it felt. Thank you for this
I know that feeling, it feel so good to just let it out, cant wait to watch!
"The real monsters aren't under the bed" this sentence goes hard!!
that's not an uncommon phrase lol
This sentence is extremely trite and banal.
@@yevgeniyaleshchenko849How long have you been waiting to slip "trite"and "banal" into a sentence? 😂
@earlosandwich7433 They were so excited that they couldn't even decide which one sounded smarter so they used two words that mean the same thing
U reason like a child. Because he never said it's uncommon. U someone's father to be this stupid
It’s such irony how a lot of the movie is about cleaning up the trash and the homeless living underground when in reality the trash that needed cleaning was the elite of New York City. Such a good show. 10 out of 10
What an absolute purely hellish nightmare for any parent to walk through. It would paralyze me in every way.
And on top of that, the world is judging them as parents for allowing him to walk to school by himself.
I grew up in NYC, the only school that's actually in your home neighborhood is elementary usually. For middle and high school, depending on where you live, you would usually take the subway as it's so quick and easy.
Most kids start taking the subway to school BY THEMSELVES (and thousands of other kids) when they start middle school, at the age of ELEVEN.
There are eyes everywhere, and it's a very safe feeling to be in the subway with people going to work and other kids going to school.
I'm sure there are people who live their entire lives in the country or in the suburbs would be appalled at allowing your kids to do that at the age of 11, but there is safety in numbers in big cities, and it's very commonplace.
@@x_Punisher_x I live on an island and by the age of eleven, my parents allowed me to take the bus to primary school. Not the school bus, the normal bus. And there was 2 of them to take; in the morning and in the afternoon. Hey, I'm still alive even if it's pretty rare!
@@beatriceladouce965 I think it's awesome that your parents did that. It taught you to be independent and responsible. It's just that other parents did the EXACT same thing as yours, but unfortunately, their kids were harmed or killed in the process.
I don't believe that the process or practice is ever to be blamed: it's actually a good process/practice. I just feel deeply for the parents who suffered through evil stuff like this, and understand if they don't ever trust their environment enough again to let their children be that independent and responsible.
Please read how many parents in Ukraine are going through this when their children are abducted and forcibly deported or kept in captivity or killed by russians.
I honestly don't know if I'm going to be able to watch it for that very reason! I'll see anything Benedict is in, but since having a kid, I'm very sensitive to kids in danger stories
Honestly one of the best trailers I've seen in a while. Genuinely not sure exactly what this movie is or how fantastical it's going to be and I love that.
That haunting ABBA score completes it.
Watch Smiley- it’s the same exact plot but the dad is worse
are you guys comment bots? how do you not know what the movie is about? finding a miissing 9 year old boy who disappeared when walking to school.. probably kidnapped... wtf?
@@khmer5o3 Smiley is about a little girl that’s kidnapped and then her imaginary friend teams up to save her with her dad- the same premise. I’m not wrong
This is a miniseries, not a film!

It is remarkable. I don't know what awards a six-episode limited streaming series can win, but it deserves all of them.
The acting.
The writing.
The storytelling.
The direction.
The set designs.
The costumes.
The soundtrack.

Benedict Cumberbatch should leave Marvel and keep doing serious movies like this one and get an Oscar he absolutely deserves for his talent!
i loved dr.strange but the second movie was hot garbage
You give too much credence to the present day oscar.
No, dr Strange still great
Also if he is not doing mainstream blockbusters on the side, they are not gonna give him academy award regardless, since he won't be a household name etc.
True, but I like doctor strange
"S.O.S." ohh this hit my heart!!!!A father doing everything he can to find his little boy 💔💔💔
Uuum no he's not that type of dad, infact he's the reason why. He even chose crack in instead of following through
Also that sign "if you say u haven't sin u a liar "💯 accurate af
I love how flawed all characters are!
Benedict Cumberbatch is amazing in every project ❤
I am already invested and will be horrified if there isnt a happy ending.

My god, this trailer was downright incredible, the use of ABBA was such a great choice, I didn't know how well an ABBA song could work in trailers until now, very well done, I'm excited to watch this show.
The Leftovers Season 3 already did it, with the same ABBA song

This was amazing and Benedict Cumberbatch deserves an award for outstanding acting. In fact the whole cast is bloody brilliant. I binge watched this over 2 days it is that good. It is shocking, sad, uncomfortable viewing but a must see.

Benedict should portray Eric Clapton. He’s got the Unplugged look right here.

Academy awards you must someday seriously consider of giving this man an Oscar. He deserves it more than anyone. All he is learned to do is masterpiece movies, tv show etc. One of my favourite actors no doubt. At the end of the tv show I was crying. The mood, feeling, pace, colors, music and texture of this trailer are EVERYTHING to me. The show itself more than delivers on the promise of this finely rendered 2 1/2 minute teaser.
Wow! This looks amazing!!! Benedict is an unbelievable actor!!!!
Benedict Cumberbatch is such a brilliant actor! He can shine in any role he is given.
This is a difficult and sometimes uncomfortable movie to watch, but with a very unusual storyline that keeps you guessing. A huge success I would say.
The thematic resemblance to Ian McEwan's 1987 novel, "The Child in Time," is unmistakable, echoing its exploration of grief and loss amidst the backdrop of familial turmoil. This connection is further underscored by the 2017 film adaptation starring Benedict Cumberbatch, directed by Julian Farino. Premiering on BBC One in September 2017, the film brings McEwan's poignant narrative to life, with Cumberbatch delivering a compelling performance.
McEwan's novel revolves around Stephen, a children's book author, and his wife, grappling with the aftermath of their daughter Kate's abduction. The narrative delves into the complexities of their grief and the strain it puts on their relationship, offering a nuanced portrayal of sorrow and resilience.
While "The Child in Time" garnered praise, winning the prestigious Whitbread Novel Award in 1987 and earning acclaim as one of McEwan's seminal works, it also faced criticism for its perceived heavy-handedness. Nonetheless, its enduring impact on literature and its ability to provoke thought and emotion remain undeniable. Source Wikipedia
Thank you ChatGPT. You are a good LLM. now go on and have some data... 🐶
I haven't seen a single person comment on what Eric actually represented. He represented the creative drive passed from father to son and their internal bond. The bond was distorted by addiction and alienation and self-hate, but it also was attempting to heal and reconnect. When the father beats Eric and he disappears it symbolized the root and rock bottom of his addiction being reached. Eric comes alive again in the ending scene as the son stands inside the costume, as the fictional character looks on.
