Just moved here from the west coast and that chunky rock with the hole underneath is a 7 minute walk from my apartment. Thanks for posting because I don’t know anything about fishing for warm water fish.
I told my wife there was no way you were going to go over that rocky section without making some casts there. I have found the Alberto knot to be reliable and easy to tie. Nice video as usual.
I do not attach my leader directly to my braid. I use size 14 swivel to attach leader and braid. This makes it easier to fish lures that need a swivel, and it reduces the probability of knot slippage. Been catching smallmouths on XTS micro-crankbaits and Nikko Leeches, but haven't been able to hook-up on Hellgrammites...but still practicing. Thanx for taking us with you on this excursion. You totally rock. TLF!
I would be afraid of that swivel hurting my guides. That’s good to hear the leeches are producing for ya! The leeches tear up the largemouth around here and the Hellgrammite seems to do better on the smallmouth. Thanks for watching JL!
@@thecreekcrawler I never reel my line up to the swivel, and I often use a 20-inch 13# fluorocarbon leader. I will use monofilament when I want my leader to not sink fast. Still learning after all these years.
I don't bother with flouro in Big Walnut or Big Darby when the water clarity is off, it's a fail point that ya really don't need. I've really been thinking about a Scioto float south of Chillicothe for 2 days maybe making it to the Ohio, ok if not. That would be a nice trip I think.
Enjoyed the video, new creek in central Ohio. I've fished that creek a few times and hooked up on a few nice 2 1/2 to 3pounders up near the Williams road bridge. Used your code yesterday for a Lew's speed spool, picking up tomorrow 🙂
Great video B and yes you guys caught some numbers on a new creek. Well done every day and tournament won't be a limit but I bet you learned a thing or two. Keep after it. I'll hit Vance Outdoors eventually thanks for sharing the discounts
Thanks Brian!! I thoroughly enjoyed that float and to be honest I should have never stopped when the tournament was over. Definitely some potential in the Walnut.
Man a lot of fish caught just couldn't get the hammers this day. Placed 16th so got some point there. Been slammed getting late to the videos. But you know I always come threw and watch the full video, (ads included) like, and comment. Keep up the great work man!
When I started using a whopper plopper I'd get a few hits here and there. It took a minute to figure out the speed, which is pretty slow. But if you keep it at a steady slow pace they'll blast it more often.
I've been telling you to come to big walnut all year . Cannot wait to watch this video. Biggest small mouth is 21 inches. Biggest larg mouth is 23.3 Biggest muskie is 44inch
Hey Beau, I had no idea there were Muskie in Big Walnut Creek!? I used to live in Columbus and fished it for 10 years - never got one in there. A 44” creek Muskie would be awesome!
@@thecreekcrawler It's been really stingy to me. I've probably caught 2 fish this summer, but last summer I was pulling no less than 5 out on almost every trip.
Caught some nice fish. Have you ever used a spinner bait for some reason in the creeks an river the bigger fish seem more aggressive towards it. LETS Go
Crawler I reached out to Waterland about some glasses but they don’t except any discount codes on prescription glasses (which I need) and they do not deal with any insurance coverage for optical either bummer those are great looking shades. Where did you get your net ? I’ve found them online but with that long handle.
Sorry about that Glenn! They are a younger brand in the industry so I’m sure with time they will be able to handle those circumstances. As for the net I got it at Vance Outdoors in Hebron. It’s pretty awesome and it floats! Which has saved me a few times 😂
Typically a single access trip consist of putting in going up or downstream and paddling back to my launch. I usually look at google maps to ensure it’s not too crazy or tough to get back to my car if I go downstream. Upstream is a better option if you don’t know because you will atleast have the current to help you get back.
Go grab a spinning rod and reel! Throw on some Hellgrammites and put boots on the ground. I promise if you do a wade with the Hellgrammite you’ll get bit!
@@thecreekcrawler but the fly fishing big has hooked me haha. I don’t have a fly pattern like the hellgramites. I need to tie one. Plus I’m fishing the Darby a lot. And that I understand can be hit or miss.
@@stealthswim223 I had the bug a few years ago!! its a fun way to target fish for sure. I am sure a wooly bugger is a good hellgrammite presentation. I feel like the bite is starting to heat up so anywhere there are smallies you can get some good action. I just went to the GMR yesterday and slayed some smallmouth.
🔥🔥🔥
😎
Nice catches! Smallies 🎣😊
Thank you!! February has been good to me so far!

Absolutely!!! You are near some really good fishing!!
Most reliable creek in Columbus. Love fishing it.
I really enjoyed it. There are some great tributaries in central Ohio!

Chunk rock in the river is one of my favorite structures! Thanks for watching Steve!

That place was super nice!!
That’s also my hometown
Great video man! That creek looks beautiful!
I was very pleased with that float! Awesome creek and mean fish

I had another slip today. I might just stick to straight braid. Especially on my top waters

Appreciate it Boris!!! I know that creek has some hidden giants! Heck yes glad you could save some coin
Great video crawler fun day Beautiful Creek 👍
It really was. A nice shaded creek and a good tug on the line is all I need!

Appreciate it man!! I’ll take a 16th place considering I only had 4 fish. It’s crazy how important a single keeper can be
I’m doing Stillwater on Saturday
Good stuff man! Goodluck! Hopefully we don’t get rain
Psssst.......when a smallmouth misses that plopper, throw a finnesse worm in as soon as you can......you will thank me later lol
I tried that with a Hellgrammite… super bummed I couldn’t pick that fish up. I typically do!
Fish is on the chase right now
They were chasing just not eating lol
@@thecreekcrawler try yellow or white shyster if the creek is a little cold which it should be you can add just a very small amount of scent
I live right by this creek
Lucky!! That creek is beautiful and full of fish!
That place looks great! Nice video👍
It was a great time!! Love those skinny water bronze backs!
Number 4.
Thanks for watching Eric!
Great video my friend watching from Columbus Ohio
Thank you!!
Watching your video first thing I notice is the whopper sound ! El chopo though right. Lol I keep watching. Tight lines!👊🏼

Yea I need to work on my hook sets on that particular lure.
@@thecreekcrawler That's the other part. It's not really a hook set, just always keep the rod tip up and reel down on him. Like a crank, just tip up
@@rhodesianhunter9360 gotcha!!!!!! I will keep this in mind because I really do like the lure.

Should come down and fish for some smallies in Southern ohio......we can wade almost 15 miles of water
That is a lot of water to wade!!! I’ve done some 3-4 mile wades ..great exercise!
what was the first lure you were using?
Caught quite a few fish, too bad the lunkers weren’t there.
Yea I wish I had a couple
More like that 15.5 incher. Those creek smallies are mean!
I fished that same stretch last Monday and didn't catch anything.

What jig are you using on the Hellgrammites?
I throw them in a vmc rugby jighead!
I see you’re starting out with El chappo on top lol
Nothing but heartbreak… I can’t hook up on it recently
@@thecreekcrawler try a yellow or white rooster tail or swim bait small and catch a couple for me

Where did you put in for that creek? Was trying to find a spot today. Love the videos!
I just looked up public parks along the walnut
Where at your put in spot . how far down stream you go

Idk man school started back up and I’m working. Trying to find time to hit all the water I want to before winter
Nice fish! were you fishing above or below the resevoir?
This was below!
I was just there and didn't catch anything
That’s fishing for ya! The bite should be pretty good later this week
Didn't know we had spotted bass in Ohio
We do have them in a few systems in central and southeast Ohio. My biggest was a 14.5” out of the Hocking River. Awesome fighting fish for sure!
