    Thanks for this video. It was very helpful, but I'm having a problem now. When I try to tighten the lock assembly, the latch remains in the open position. I will enter the combination, turn the handle, the latch will open, and then it just stays there. It's like there's some friction somewhere inside that is keeping the latch open. I thought perhaps my spindle was too long so I shortened it, and it seems to fit just fine. I don't know what else it could be. Any thoughts?

      This is probably because your spindle(the flat bar with a spring) is too long. Try to loosen the screws a little bit (1/16” or 1/8”) and see if that frees the latch and unstuck it. If that test helps you want to cut or grind the spindle down a little.
      If you the lock is installed wrong (if the inside lock and the outside lock are installed straight and leveled) it will also cause binding. Let’s hope that is not the case. Some times, if the screw on the bottom is tighter than the one on top or vice versa can cause the uneven-ness as well.

    My existing door already has a hole drilled for a deadbolt. Is this assembly big enough to cover that also?

    • @jounjip4698
      @jounjip4698  2 роки тому

      The black seal is 2 1/2”wide and 6 1/2”high. It should cover the standard bore hole (2 1/8”). If you install the lock without the black seal (some people choose to do this) the lock alone will not cover the bore hole.
      Please check the backset dimension as well (2 3/8” and 2 3/4” backset included). And, make sure this new lock doesn’t interfere with any door handles, door chain, and etc. installed near by.

    I bought the same lock but a different brand. It came with the wrong instructions and the spindle doesn't have a spring on it. Just plain flat rod. Since it came with the wrong instructions (for one-sided keypad lock), I have no idea on how it will work from one side to the other side: (1) Both keypads, has the same code, (2) when entering the code from the outside keypad and turning the knob, the inside knob does not rotate with the knob outside because it is still in the locked position - no "freewheel rotation on the inside knob", (3) it's the same result for the inside knob (knob outside does not turn when the inside being rotated while unlocked with the code), (4) not sure if this came with the wrong spindle or the latch, or both. But I believe that when unlocking from one side, it should also unlocked the other side to give both knobs a "freewheel" action to rotate and retract the latch. But, it is not happening in this case. Is this lock designed for "one-side coded/other side no-code" type of operation? If so, why even design a lock like this if you can't even make it work? Any thoughts? Thank you.

      This lock on the outside and inside work independently. What is important is if the knob is engaging the latch and retract when you try to open (the knob inside won’t turn).
      The knob only engages the latch in one direction and open. It does not open if you turn it in the wrong direction.
      If you want to make one sided lock you can just set “no code” on the side you don’t want any code. If any button is pressed by accident on that side just press “C” button to clear it and open the door.
      Since I can’t see what kind of lock you have, it’s hard to help you.

    Great video. Can this lock be installed in any home or will be a fire safety hazard?

      Legally, as long there is another way to get out of the room, you can have double-sided lock. Otherwise, it's a safety hazard and in some states illegal.

      What do you mean? Did you open the back of the keypad and the springs flew off?
      This keypad has "Quick Code" change system. You didn't have to open the back to change the code.
      All you have to do is just turn the red mark on the back of the keypad outwardly to set the code. It's that simple.

      I did the same as I watched a youtube clip on changing codes but didn't realise my lock was the newer Quick code one. I have put it all together again but it wont work. Did you manage to fix yours? do you have a photo of how it's suppose to look inside by any chance as I think it matters what way the washers (with the sticky out bit) face. Help, I don't want to buy another one. 🤣
