    Hi
    Just wondering what size spade bit did you use to drill the hole for the latch? Thanks

    If anyone can answer this question for me because I'm going to be installing one myself tomorrow so need a quick answer: I have a fence with a thickness of 2¾" (70mm) and concerned that the thickness will exceed what the template shows in the diagram of 50mm. So will it still work?

    • @Dannyryan73
      @Dannyryan73 7 місяців тому +1

      I’m sure you figured it out, but I would have just aligned the template on the closing side, not worrying about the side facing outwards. That way it would work just like a thinner gate.

    Making a complicated job look easy, I need to try and do a new gate first and then I'll try this. Where in the UK is best for gates to custom size?

    • @JamesMontana
      @JamesMontana  2 роки тому +1

      Youll need to go to your local fencing supplier

    When buying theses locks check the latch back set measurements and then your lock will sit in the middle of the timber frame and not to one side

    Finally someone that puts a proper door handle on a gate. I have had quite a few fence quotes where the installers looked at me funny when I said I wanted a legit door handle like I had already installed.

      Often clients dont want it but i do recommend it. This was my own gate so i was always going to do it.

    I like this design and would like to make one myself. Just curious to know if this still closes properly with it being an outside door. Seems likely that the wood will expand or contract and create some issues with the door latching properly over time

    • @Dannyryan73
      @Dannyryan73 7 місяців тому +1

      The door itself might need some adjustment over time.

    Is it just me that thinks what is the point🤷‍♂️. Surely people can just lean over the fence to open it.

    • @soroland1
      @soroland1 Рік тому +2

      The fence/gate is 2 meters tall, and the lock is 1m from the ground. If you can get up the fence/gate high enough to reach down and open the gate, then you can probably hop the gate/fence anyway.

      It's not going to stop a determined burglar, who would just climb over the fence. What it would do, however, is put off any dodgy neighbours who might enter your yard to use your bins or let their dog use it as a lavatory. Basically, keep out any troublemakers. The main advantage for the owner is that it's keyless. No fumbling about for keys.
