Actually, we noticed egg production dropped. The egg laying picked back up once they had the old waterer back in the run. I know they used the nipples, they apparently just didn’t use them enough. In response to your question, no, every heated waterer we have used is prone to freezing here in WI. We typically have to help the heater along by adding warm water at sun up.
