The world we're living in can be so depressing at times, that it can suck the desire to create out of people. I know that's something I feel acutely... and it's a struggle to go through it. The thought "What's the point? Everything turns to shit eventually" is hard to fight. So, I need to stay away from most sources of negativity, and surround myself with anything that can ignite creation. In my case, it's mostly nature, art, family and good friends. I know the feeling. Even videos can be negative. When I start feeling that way, I change out of the general stuff I watch, and switch to comedy, pardy, and mems....that actually works pretty well. You start feeling depessed from life, watch something stupid. It helps.
A note on empathy it also makes one painfully aware of just how irreconcilable some disagreements are, without it most disagreements might seem like logic puzzles of how to convince someone but once you really learn what makes people tick you learn just how impossible a lot of that is because of how deep seated, fundamental and irreconcilable their values systems or dare I say lack thereof are. Actual instances where people are truly convincable are rare.
That's incredibly thoughtful, thanks for this insight. I don't say for sure if good and evil truly exist, but I know that certain things are irreconciliable. We must not try to reason with someone that deeply rejects or distorts the most simple logic, for example.

I'm not sure someone who pays money to watch john wick 3 and 4 can EVER complain about the state of the Hollywood movie industry. In case you haven't noticed....you're the problem.
@@goonerlee What in the absolute hell are you talking about? Yeah, the John Wick movies aren't some high art A24 series in the writing department, but you're comparing apples to oranges genre wise if you think it has to be to be considered good. The appeal of John Wick is excellent fight choreography, lighting, cinematography, and stunt work and this does not falter in 3 and 4. The series occupies a space where it can still be a dumb silly action movie that doesn't take itself too seriously where John can survive a 3 story fall, but at the same time demonstrate the work of a team of people who know how to set design, frame shots and colored lighting, and get stuntmen to do some of the best work the western movie industry has right now. I suppose I'm just confused as to how someone who appreciates movies can think someone is "Part of the problem" with hollywood if they like John Wick. 3 has the knife hallway scene which is one of the best fights in the entire series, and the only way 4 doesn't end on a high note is if they bring John back outside of a prequel like Ballerina.
Your truest video yet wizard. I have been pondering what we can do and i realized all i could do is not give them my money. At first it seemed i was alone but now i feel like this is growing. Ty for trying to help make things better.
To be fair the new transformers movie is a banger, it's ... more than meets the eye! lol (has horrible marketing and trailers behind it), probably the best transformers movie since the original from the 80's. Regardless I get your point though, another great video Wizard!!! 👍
Funny story. I was actually willing to give Folie a Deux a chance because I loved the first film. I ended up getting sick the weekend it came out, and I was more entertained by the videos saying what a travesty the film was. Score one for the germs. I will probably never watch it so it doesn't stain my love for the first one. Which REALLY should have been a standalone story.
I did not know that. That makes sense. The first two episodes were okay, but once it went all in on the Wade storyline, it turned into the biggest pile of crap. Every episode was worse than the one that came before it. I never want to see Edi Patterson in anything ever again.
@@RealLifeFakeWizard Yeah. And the premise COULD have worked. The trailers made me assume Wade was going to be a Comic sidekick, not the actual protagonist. Most of it was just a throwaway screwball comedy. And I NEVER want to see Wade's sister ever again. What even was that?!
It’s rare to find an acting performance that by all marks the actor was just doing their job, but you hate the character so much that you never want to see the actor ever again. That’s how I feel about Wade’s sister played by Edi Patterson.
How do you make sure something is done right? Anyone who suspects they might have the talent to produce Plan 9 from Outer Space or better should give it a shot. Eventually a new hope will arise from the stream of primal creativity.
I've cancelled most of my subscription services. It was difficult and the results haven't been great. If you NEED to be entertained, then you can be broken down. So I've somewhat substituted mindless tv with watching youtube. Not to be derisive about you. You seem like a scholar and a gentleman, but one occasionally watches things that seem like low effort compilations of the top 10 comments from someone else's video. So lazy consumption is lazy consumption. And there's a horrible despair when I sit down to eat my dinner and out of habit want to watch something, realizing that I've watched Community, 30 rock to absolute death and that I've promised myself not to watch The Boys or Rick and Morty. Watching something because there's a groove worn in your brain or because it's the path of least resistance seems... not great. When companies release something that is just content, there's possibly an implicit thought process of "what are they going to do instead? Read.". For instance, Concord's pitch seemed to contain the idea that the audience were addicts who would lap up content just to stop trembling. The old adage was 'beggars can't be choosers'. If companies think you lack the mental fortitude to do anything other than acquiesce, it seems incongruous with having a high opinion of you.
I've started reading a lot more. I've always loved reading, and I make a living writing fiction full-time. But I grew up with video games, and my father was a movie buff. Now, though, both of us don't find any enjoyment in the mediums anymore. He's watching old movies, and I've returned to playing retro games. It's rare that something modern comes out and we like it. I'm reading more than I ever have.
What do we do?, Answer: nothing Hollywood and videogame devs need to understand once and for all that the product they make is not necessary to sustain life,I can personally live without buying a game or movie anymore, can you do the same? To put what I said into perspective listen to this, farmers do have a product that is absolutely necessary for life and that is food, so yes a farmer is more important than any media worker
Everybody wanted the church gone, and they got their wish. So now their faith is put into even worse religious institutions. All that faith and worship has to go somewhere. And it went to the mouse.
Poor generalization. I can't stand all the media of the last decade or even more and I was raised without religion. Not having a religion doesn't mean you don't have a moral system.
Do something about it I did. I am no writer but a 3D Modeler I am. I took the gifts and talents I do have and made something. Motivated by exactly the same reasons this video so accurately described about the entertainment industry. I have poured 2 years of my life into a semi-modern day city map for Skyrim. Themed after Dark Hero franchises like Batman and Underworld. Original and Professional? No, but I had "Had Enough" and did something about it. Hopefully when I am done. Other creatives will pick up the ball and run with it. Telling stories in the little world I created. But even if they don't. It was WORTH IT! I have had some of the most Thrilling, Satisfying, and Rewarding experiences of my life. Just spending time in something I had a hand creating and visiting fantasy places in VR I never thought I would see.
You're right, this is almost never mentioned. A lot of people report all the problems happening in the world. I remember in the past practically screaming at one particular video, 'Well, what the hell am I supposed to do about it???'. It's so nice to see someone actually talking about options that are helpful to the subject at hand. Then again your suggestion on every video 'cancel Disney Plus' is another positive suggestion that is helpful in this case, alone. If everyone listened to you and did that, the world would be a better place.
Good remark about content creators. Sick of UA-camrs who produce nothing except rage. I will not voice their names. You all know them. And you should understand that their content is the same flop as movies and games that they so much talk about. Monetized anger as it is, without any solution.
It is shamefully true Silly Wizard Man. You continue to remind me of our situation in lacking any entertainment that even hits mid territory. Pedowood does not make many original things these days on top of lower quality in character & stories even meeting the bare minimum. Admittedly I'm drawn to this channel for your own original platform you use to amuse me. Again Silly Fake Wizard Man on the internet I thank you for making my day.
Many of us already came to these realizations 5-10 years ago. Kinda pathetic it's taken the average Joe and Jane this long, but better late than never I suppose.
No you're just a whiney basement dwelling fuck who BITCHES about everything! Did you ever consider the movies that did make money is because THEY'RE GOOD! NO you just shovel down SLOP LIKE OPPENHEIMER!!!!
I use a three step approach for entertainment: Pursue: Figure out the things that you value and enjoy, not just what you hate or what pisses you off, and seek to find things both in the past or present that embrace those things. Procure: Do not rely solely on digital media. It's convenient and you don't need to ignore it outright, but cultivating a library of books, movies, games, etc. physically ensures that outside forces can't screw with the innards of your fave things when you're not looking. Promote: Instead of only talking about and listening to why things suck and why you should hate them, make the effort to find and support discussion and analysis of things you love so that others will be more likely to find and be able to enjoy them, too.
Hey brother, I just wanted to let you know that I love your videos. Just wanted to say keep it up man, praying for the success of your channel
Good message, years ago when the media started tanking I cancelled all my streaming services and decided to learn a lifelong hobby, do yourselves a favor and go get an instrument.
This is exactly why I quit watching these shows. I may not have seen all of the finer details right away but I can sure as hell tell when somebody who wants my money is demanding it while insulting me. I haven't seen a new movie in years because theyre all terrible and insulting...most of them anyway.
2:02 I hate the animation a lot too but it's probably the best origin retelling for them in a long time. You see, Transformers has a very set origin and all the spinoffs that have been made since have tried to reinvent the wheel that was G1. Even G1 itself with Season 3 tried to do that (part of why it sucked). Bayformers did it several times in one iteration, at least every other movie. Rise of the Beasts was a popcorn flick but still sorta did it too. It's consistantly one of the worst parts of every iteration of Transformers next to inevitably revealing Unicron as Earth all along and never doing anything actually cool with him or sticking to the tragic origin story. Metal Gear is the only series to make pulling the plug on a sleeping elder stylish, quit doing it for Transformers flicks and go back to giant battles and fated heroes defeating great evils. This movie was probably rigged to fail because Hasboro, much like Hollywood, hates their core fanbases/audience (you can ask D&D guys how they're doing) and especially hates Transformers which is why they let clowns like Michael Bay or the various less-than-stellar Marvel Comic writers meld the lore and public perception of the series for a long time. Of course, I want them to make new things, but no harm when a reiteration product is actually good. The issue this year is that very few were good, and the Marvel and DC slop has been the worst offender for several years in a row. I just wanted to give credit to TF One because the marketing for it is awful and Hasboro doesn't even appear to want it to succeed when it is the best iteration of the origin we've had in decades
The only thing I was even remotely excited for was Alien: Romulus. Everything else this year I didn't even bother to care about. And it's been the same story for well over a decade for me, too.
Power Rangers failed me recently by following Hollywoods example, so I'm switching to Super Sentai and Kaman Rider full time. So maybe the answer is Japanese media because they seem to be the last people with passion and the means to get it out world wide.
'Power Rangers' was essentially just (((Haim Saban))) and (((Shuki Levy))) editing over the original Sentai series anyway! You can even still see 'Bandora Castle' on the moon castle if you pause it just right on the early episodes! The original is ALWAYS better.
meh, i can't even muster the will to pirate this garbage, let alone seed it to make it easyer for others to pirate it as well i'm contempt with watching them seethe and laughing at the memes made to mock them
I've been wanting to start a UA-cam channel solely to spread this sentiment (albeit a bit more forcefully as my frustration is boundless), but you pretty much covered the important parts. All of the crap we're being fed, whether simply the result of incompetent writers or something more nefarious and agenda-driven, if people just woke up and said, "Enough is enough," and stopped watching, stopped supporting, stopped buying the figures and collectibles, stopped pirating (because I'm sure, internally, they track that), and just went and found other things to be entertained by or other things to do, these companies would be forced to make a choice; die on the hill of their illusionary "virtue," or start making fun, entertaining and non-agenda-infused content again. The biggest problem is that Disney, and companies like them, have been doing this for at least a decade now; destroying IPs, destroying beloved characters, destroying beloved stories, and then they release one seemingly non-woke (though I haven't seen it and refuse to see it) film, Deadpool and Wolverine, and people lap it up and toss $1 billion on the table for a company that openly hates them, openly hates the characters they love and openly hates their values. They say, "Things are getting better," when, in fact, that money will be taken and used on future projects that corrupt other beloved franchises and push degenerate agendas on children and the public at large. They fund their own enemies and do the most insane mental gymnastics as to how they're, "Not actually supporting them," while actively supporting them. I don't watch modern films or shows anymore. In fact, I stopped watching sports after the summer of 2020 and the fact that every North American league you can imagine bent the knee to a drug addict, pregnant woman-abusing, career criminal. I haven't watched a game since then and I'm never going back. The could cut every instance of "wokeness" from their SPORTS LEAGUES and I still won't go back. They would have to bend over backwards and start having things like "Straight Pride Night" and "Men's Night" and "White Heritage Appreciation Night," all things I don't want, but that's what it would take. Not Hollywood, nor North American sports, nor anything else (as much as is possible) will ever see a penny from me again. They won't get my money and they won't get my eyeballs. They've turned industries that were just industries into hate-fueled industries that openly produce and/or promote products and ideologies that hate specific groups of people. DEI, at its very core, is just a blueprint for how to suppress, invalidate and eventually remove those groups of people. Like everything else they do, they mask their evil with flowery language because normies are too busy, stupid and/or lazy to actually educate themselves.
thanks for putting your vids out. everything is exactly how I've been feeling with how cynical the entertainment industry has become. seeing all those assaulters standing with each other pretending to like each other made me want to throw up
There are a plethora of things to do other than consume content created by people who hate you. It could be as cheap as going for a walk or as involved as learning to play an instrument. RLFK is right, Hollywood, Ubisoft, etc., only exist as long as we fund them.
Listen Gandalf, maybe nobody asked for Alien Romulus but I for one am glad it exists, as it shows you don't need a massive budget to make some fantastic content.
I have checked out from the Great Slop Machine of Hollywood. Most of my viewing content is from UA-cam wizards, Critical Drinkers, world travelers, and credit card points and miles creators. I fondly remember waiting for great movies to come out and they would dazzle us. Star Wars, Blade Runner, Indiana Jones, Superman - all great movies from the 1978-1984 era. It was a different age of the world in terms of creativity, imagination, and bold risk taking on new ideas.
You might be onto something Wizard. The last media property I truly enjoyed start to finish was The Expanse series. The story came about from a table top D&D like game played with friends. They then wrote a fantastic book series that I highly recommend.
Nope. I've entered a movie theater once in the last 15 years and am not subscribed to any streaming platform. The only media I still pay for is gaming, but my taste in games is very far from the mainstream and tend to only buy small games made by small groups of people
well said RLFW. I've long suspected that the absurdly high budgets for these projects is in part to create an artificial barrier to entry. all the massive technology advancers and now the special effects cost ten times more than ever? costs were supposed to go down. 🤔

I know the feeling. Even videos can be negative. When I start feeling that way, I change out of the general stuff I watch, and switch to comedy, pardy, and mems....that actually works pretty well. You start feeling depessed from life, watch something stupid. It helps.
Be in the world, but not of it.
I think your channel will blow up soon. You're as active as the quartering but your delivery and commentary is way better.
I appreciate the compliment very much
The last movie I saw in a theater was John Wick 4. Prior to that, the last movie I saw in a theater was John Wick 3. I have no plans to see any upcoming movies in a theater. I don't pay for any streaming services and I don't watch modern movies or TV. They lost me years ago.
I don't pay either I just sail the seas if anything interests me
Hollywood? Fail me? Who are you kidding? I've only ever known failure!
Steven He's alt account? Love his failure management videos.
@@krowodom5719 Don't tell anyone.
Your truest video yet wizard. I have been pondering what we can do and i realized all i could do is not give them my money. At first it seemed i was alone but now i feel like this is growing. Ty for trying to help make things better.
Hollywood does not deserve your hate, give them only apathy.
Ah, the opposite of love is indifference quote still hitting hard. I agree.
They deserve BOTH!
To be fair the new transformers movie is a banger, it's ... more than meets the eye! lol (has horrible marketing and trailers behind it), probably the best transformers movie since the original from the 80's.
Regardless I get your point though, another great video Wizard!!! 👍
16:50 WOAH FACE REVEAL JUMP SCARE! 😭 wizard I thought your beard was real?!?!
Hi there, I just wanted to say I am subscribing to you! I really like the way you talk/ the format of your videos! Very entertaining (:
Thank you! Welcome to the party
This was so intense. Did not see it coming. Subscribed
“journalists are just sales people who don’t tell you they work in sales.”
Best line of this video.
Glad I got in on the ground floor of this thing. Keep it up!
To be fair, as bad as Knuckles was, Jeff Fowler only had a hand in the first episode. Which is probably why the rest was so lousy.
Bro I was not prepared for this to get so deep but I needed to hear that
What do we do?,
Answer: nothing
Hollywood and videogame devs need to understand once and for all that the product they make is not necessary to sustain life,I can personally live without buying a game or movie anymore, can you do the same?
To put what I said into perspective listen to this, farmers do have a product that is absolutely necessary for life and that is food, so yes a farmer is more important than any media worker
Everybody wanted the church gone, and they got their wish. So now their faith is put into even worse religious institutions.
All that faith and worship has to go somewhere. And it went to the mouse.
Even worse: it went to the State.

Just spending time in something I had a hand creating and visiting fantasy places in VR I never thought I would see.
bro you are so inspiring and smart. much love to you!
I mean its Hollywood... and California, i expected no less.
Resonant Arc or State of the Arc podcast has put out some really good thoughtful content that eschews the hate mongering
Gotta hand it to ya wizard, your take here was inspiring and put this channel above the others imo.
Many of us already came to these realizations 5-10 years ago.
Kinda pathetic it's taken the average Joe and Jane this long, but better late than never I suppose.
I wouldn’t say it’s pathetic. You and i could be in on the ‘know’, but we can’t judge people for when they finally reach realization.
some people are too young to have realised yet too.. U aint as wise as u think u r buddy.
No you're just a whiney basement dwelling fuck who BITCHES about everything! Did you ever consider the movies that did make money is because THEY'RE GOOD! NO you just shovel down SLOP LIKE OPPENHEIMER!!!!
I use a three step approach for entertainment:
Pursue: Figure out the things that you value and enjoy, not just what you hate or what pisses you off, and seek to find things both in the past or present that embrace those things.
I'm not super into the subjects themselves necessarily... but between the cadence of your speech, the way you present information, the thoughts you input on the subjects, and your overall editing style, I love your work. Just wanted to say keep it up man, praying for the success of your channel
👏👏👏 Well said, Wizard. Well said
Haven't watched a single movie in over a year. No regerts
Not even a single letter? 😂 loved that movie.
I think this is your best video yet. I especially liked the ending of it.

I hate the animation a lot too but it's probably the best origin retelling for them in a long time.
I just wanted to give credit to TF One because the marketing for it is awful and Hasboro doesn't even appear to want it to succeed when it is the best iteration of the origin we've had in decades
first time watching, although algorithm brought me your videos multiple times before. Multiple kh soundtracks, i think i will follow you
Welcome to the party
The only thing I was even remotely excited for was Alien: Romulus. Everything else this year I didn't even bother to care about. And it's been the same story for well over a decade for me, too.
I also was excited for alien Romulus only to be disappointed. To wash the bad taste in my mouth from this movie I had to go watch the 1970s
Anime and vintage gaming for me. I can count on 1 hand how many times I've watched a new movie in the theatre in the last 5 years.
I can count with one finger the movies I've watched in a theater the last 10 years.
Giving big Andy Rooney. Need to play the 60 min stopwatch after this.
meh, i can't even muster the will to pirate this garbage, let alone seed it to make it easyer for others to pirate it as well
i'm contempt with watching them seethe and laughing at the memes made to mock them
I've been wanting to start a UA-cam channel solely to spread this sentiment (albeit a bit more forcefully as my frustration is boundless), but you pretty much covered the important parts.
I saw Fall Guy, Wild robot, Blink twice, and Speak No Evil. All solid movies IMHO

thanks for putting your vids out. everything is exactly how I've been feeling with how cynical the entertainment industry has become. seeing all those assaulters standing with each other pretending to like each other made me want to throw up
Bro ur content is abolute gold. Love hearing u talk
Fantastic video, well said! 👏
It was a different age of the world in terms of creativity, imagination, and bold risk taking on new ideas.
the wild robot is very very good. A nice breath of fresh air.

You might be onto something Wizard. The last media property I truly enjoyed start to finish was The Expanse series. The story came about from a table top D&D like game played with friends. They then wrote a fantastic book series that I highly recommend.
Fully agree with you, fam. But am I the only one here who checked out of consooming slop about 10 years ago?
I don't even pirate their crap anymore
Nope. I've entered a movie theater once in the last 15 years and am not subscribed to any streaming platform. The only media I still pay for is gaming, but my taste in games is very far from the mainstream and tend to only buy small games made by small groups of people

If only they could go back to human eating tomatoes, critters and gremlins. In time when they had creativity and randomness.
well said RLFW. I've long suspected that the absurdly high budgets for these projects is in part to create an artificial barrier to entry. all the massive technology advancers and now the special effects cost ten times more than ever? costs were supposed to go down. 🤔
