The fact that devs can port to the older console, tells us that nobody is making games that are actually pushing these consoles to their limit in the first place. You could not take a game that was made on the PS3 especially in its later years and port it to the PS2, BECAUSE IT COULDN'T RUN IT! Which tells me games being made are only moving forward in terms of visuals AND NOTHING ELSE

Themandate internally is to replace with AI. So while I hear about all these layoffs in the gaming industry, they're really just a drop in the bucket as to what's going on in the overall tech sector. I remember when certain companies from the 90's found success, they became way more willing to give their customers better deals because 1. Once they got super rich they stopped feeling like they had to nickel and dime their customers. They trusted if they kept their customers happy & they kept producing quality products, that they would continue to see financial success. So they were willing to make Sacrifices more since they trust it will all be worth it & pay off in the long run... 2. Make the games people want, not the games you think should have. The same for movies and other entertainment. Make what people want DON`T PREACH. I hope the games and other Industries are learning the lesson.
When you say culturally motivated (regarding Mr Iwatas paycut) are you referring to the general Eastern philosophies of putting community before oneself? If so would that wouldn't really lessen his action's impact, right? Just wondering what you think, been loving these videos so far, keep it up!
But the problem is there not making money and refuse to change, anyone with a brain would see the failure of Marvels Avengers and never try that crap again and what does WB do make Suicide Squad, the main problem and no one can answer it money no longer seems to be there end goal and it makes no sense, clearly there's a bigger picture and no one can see it.
The problem comes when it takes AAA games nearly a decade to make. WB Games probably got caught in the sunk cost fallacy even if they were worried after Avengers game failed.
I think it's more likely that videogames take so long to make nowadays that by the time they realized it would be bad it was too late to course correct so they release the game anyway
@@Exlayer-pk8hy That's exactly the issue! Concord is like a time capsule of of the popular zeitgeist of 2016, when it started development. Thankfully that seems to be happening. The Blackrocks and the Vanguards were the ones pushing the DEI investments in the first place, they've seen it isn't working and that fighting the culture war isn't profitable. Important first step.
It’s a systemic issue from the top to the bottom. Point is a majority of these hires don’t actually enjoy playing games. they don’t fundamentally understand WHY PEOPLE BUY GAMES
@@lukarikid9001 even when a game sale really good people still get lay off
To save money so they can make more for next year
@@snakekingblues3017 yes! But it’s also people who lack foresight in management and direction positions demonstrating a lack of understanding of what they are making! Like, older games knew what they were for and nowadays everyone thinks everyone has to relate to what they make or communicate but it’s not true!
Hung in through to the end, and man did shit get dark.
I thought the Nintendo Sketch would lighten things up a little
It’s not enough get the big big broom, sweep out this dead wood from the scene
You remind me of Lewis Black in your intonation, tone, and comedic delivery. Very entertaining and well constructed.
I learned public speaking by watching George Carlin, Lewis Black, and Robin Williams comedy
Excellent video!
You do a good job, you get fired, you do a bad job, you get fired. And Phil Spencer and his minions are still there, you can't win this game.
we can vote with your wallet
Sad but true, even if you make good games, they can fire you!
Love your channel. Just one thing, I’d love to hear you do the meat grinder monologue from dredd. You have the exact same voice
2. They cared about making things that their customers loved and if they just kept up with that type of effort and attention to detail, they really did trust that everything will be okay and work out if they approached business that kind of way
Not only video games, these investment companies have branched out to Food and Firearms/ ammunition.
I’ve only recently found your channel and have been enjoying it for sure. BUT the ridiculous ratio you use for body and background make me laugh every time lol. The joke still works for me. To be fair, I mostly listen lol
As evil as Nintendo can be about roms and emulation. They sure are good to their employees (at least they were)
Not to mention the sterilization of gaming, look no further than Super Mario Strikers: Battle League. It wiped clean of gritty nature and had none of the hard-core moment as its predecessors had. Sure, they look quality, but it felt rather... tame in comparison.
I remins you that when almost every company is kaying off people
Nintendo has hired almost 2/3 more of their original employee count.
Spend 7 years making a shit game = get laid off.
Not my problem.
Wiz..... You are very well informed and very educational to watch. Which leads me to question you about your educational background. Do you have a BBA or MBA ?????
I have a BBS in Business and Marketing from a City University of New York school.
Weird
Is like they don’t listen to what the people want and decide to invest millions in things no one wants
This channel is fantastic. Hopefully your subscriber count explodes.
The people laid off recently would either find work elsewhere, try to form their own companies, or spend the rest of their days in the unemployment line.
Entertaining and informative.
Bro, you're amazing
You hit the nail on the head. None of it is surprising, money rules the world sadly.
Chase after ESG shekkels -> create DEI budget bloat -> Pander to SJW cultist -> commercially fail at every level
Totally not the fault of corporate greed. there was also plenty of incompetence as well
its not about losing money its about change society through dei and woke shit.... to make u hate them and create more divide in the world divided we fall united we stand means something and they know it
This post is anti-semetic! OY VEY
We overhired to capitalise on the "booming" video game industry during the global pandemic. But it's absolutely not related to Corporate Greed ... we swear down. We're not lying.
Agree 💯 keep it up brother 💪
Every single thing about it, from the overt messaging to the Overwatch and GotG influences was straight out of that year.
But that's what happens when you don't try to make a timeless game. It gets firmly rooted in the time it was made and can feel very dated very quickly.
LOVED THE VIDEO!
That second point hit HARD
It is not just this industry, I work as a high ranked IT developer in a fairly large company, I see a lot of movement in and out and the outs are always experienced coders and ins are basically fresh in graduates. We are supposed to save money, but we really don't, people like me have to bring said new guys up to speed and that takes away from our overall output. Anyway, my point is this shit has been going on forever.
My favorite childhood game, Lego Island, had it's entire staff fired the day before launch so Mindscape didn't have to pay sales-based bonuses.
Subs going up fast
Apparently some folks didn’t like this video. I saw a drop off of subs from this video lol. Going back up now.
