  • This is a response to a question I had from a subscriber. The subscriber had a file mismatch problem when importing a MP4 file into Video Studio Pro. I show my settings so you can see settings while the program is working.

If you haven't faced that problem and when you do not know the solution, then why waste our time? Really disappointing.
I get the problem with some of my MP4 video files that I record on Sony A7iii. Some open, some don't, in Video Studio X9. Corel Video Studio 2022 is useless and has a lip sync problem, so cannot buy it.
However, I do not get any problem with my MTS files recorded with Sony A7iii.

Hi Ron. Thanks for the fast response. I have been using Videostudio since version 4. I have never had a file format issue. The file coming out of the Moviemake Pro has opened up in 5 other programs I have with no problem. For now I will just convert it with AVS Video Converter before bringing it into Videostudio.

I wonder if you rendered the same video from one of your other programs would it still have a file format issue. I know its a work around and it would be better if the problem was solved. I would also try Video Studio Pro again after the second Tuesday of the month because that is when Microsoft updates windows 10. I am assuming you have Video Studio Pro and Window 10 updated. I have had problems with programs in the past and after the second Tuesday the problem got solved. I am enclosing a link to a video I did where I rendered the same video 30 times so you can see that if you did do the render workaround that you do not loose a lot of resolution on each render. That is why I did the 30 render video because I remember with video tape by the third generation the picture degraded a whole lot. Fortunately It is not the same with MP4 renders. In case you haven't seen this thirty render video here is the link. ua-cam.com/video/MAs0NNuEidY/v-deo.html

One thing I was thinking did you have problems before this Tuesday . Remember that is when Windows automatically updates and are you sure Video Studio Pro still imports files that you know worked before. Just some thoughts Ron of super8tovideo

I found the problem. Videostudio X7 does not work with MP4. Videostudio X9 imports the MP4 from MovieMaker Pro with no problems. Thanks for your help.

Wow I am surprised Video Studio 7 does not import MP4. I am using Video Studio Pro 10. I have used Video Studio Pro 9 and can tell you they both work well for me and both version have been pretty stable. How do you like MovieMaker Pro or is that just another name that the Wolverine machine is sold under? I am not familiar with MovieMaker Pro. Glad to here you solved your problem. I do want to give you a tip about Neat Video in case you have not used it. I can tell you it does a very very good job of cleaning up the noise in super8 films. If you have not used it you may want to check it out. I can tell you that it does take a long time to render even a 3 minute film. It takes well over an hour for a 3 minute film with my computer but it is well worth the wait. I plan on doing some tutorials on this plugin in the future. Unfortunately it will not work with Video Studio Pro. I key frame, and create my line blanket in Video Studio Pro and then import it to Pinnacle Studio to run Neat Video it is quit time consuming but the results can be well worth the time. Remember super8 is a hobby for me so for me it is an enjoyable process however for many people it may be too much time and leaning curve. Hope the best for your films Ron of super8tovideo

I just started using the pro. I thinks the quality is very good. I ran about 500 feet so far and it handled the 7"reel no problem. It seems a little picky on splices. I'm bringing in full frame block out edges later. I've been using that on bad video for years. I wouldn't be able to use Neat. My jobs run up to 6,0000 feet that would take forever.

Hey Ron! Always love your on-going video posts!!! Wanted to ask... are they coming out with a Wolverine MovieMaker-Pro that holds bigger reels? Saw a YT video on it ! Is this a better quality machine and wonder what the price would be???

If you could send me the link that would be great because I am not familiar with it. I bought a European version of the wolverine. It comes from the same factory as the wolverine but it copies in 1080P instead of 720P like the Wolverine. The European versions electric plug doesn't work here but all I had to do is get a plug that fits the american electric socket and puts out 12volts DC and the proper amps. I believe it is 12Volts. I just bought a Wolverine replacement plug like I lost mine. The software is a little different than here in the U. S. as well but mine is in english. The truth is I see very little difference between the Wolverine copy and the 1080P version. However, because I zoom in for the full picture which lowers its resolution more, I am glad I am starting with 1080P. Take care Ron

It's an .mp4 file that won't drag and drop. Still a file/format mismatch error (message).

What version of VideoStudio Pro are you using. I have never had the file mismatch problem. I do know a lot of people have this problem because that video has over 7500 views since created. I wish I had the problem so I can find out what is going on and solve it for people. If you find a solution I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment here on what the problem is.

Welcome Betty, I still have never had the file mismatch problem I do not know the answer as to why it would say that. I am now using VideoStudio Ultimate 2021. The file you are importing is it an MP4 file because VideoStudio Pro should not have any problems with MP4 files. I was thinking maybe your phone is saving your file to some other format met for a Mac. I wish I could help you but I think you would be best contacting Corel through there Email help. Sorry wish I had an answer.
