I almost switch to Davinci Resolve 18 studio, Because of Corel's advice to start a clean boot and search individually for which file was in conflict with Ultimate 22'. Thanks to you, I am back on track and will be using the free version for now. Thanks again sir!

Pretty COOL, please allow me to ad an extra TIP to your list. Since there was an extra scrubber (Orange) added onto the timeline, there is no need to click anywhere on the timeline to move around, clear to a different preview frame etc, this thing does it all on its-own by just being dragged to the RIGHT or to the LEFT. Avoid doing the clicking thing we used to do in older versions. Lol Too much clicking can cause the editing application to crash especially if editing 4K content. Finally for those buying EXTRA-CONTENT such as the NEWBLUETOTALFX pack, DON'T DO IT JUST YET! I bought and installed it and made my copy VS unresponsive, Corel and the NewBlue team technicians are working independently to fix this NIGHTMARE problem, Lol.

After trying everything, I finally converted the video i was using into HEVC format using DivX converter, problem solved! 👍
I've not had a problem with VideoStudio 9X until using files from mp4 files from a Gopro 10. Simply clicking on the file to import cause the program to freeze solid.
I use a converter which also reduces the file size exponentially. That works.

Gripps, What helped mine the most was going to Project Properties and selecting the native file type. In my case, AVCHD. It's the only type I use, but it appears as though you can add whatever you need n the project properties dialog box. I've never tried, though!

I have tried your suggestions and they usually help. I have a twist that this video made me think of. I imported an MOV file from my iPhone and did 2 major edits: I changed the audio by using the NewBlue Audio Polish feature and then did some panning. When I tried to render it as an MP4 it gave a "failed to render" message. I then tried to render it as an MOV and got the same response. Could the audio edit have in some way corrupted the base MOV file? Any other ideas? Thanks!
Gripps, man, have always enjoyed your videos.. But, personally, after years and years of using this software, I can't use it anymore. It's stuff like this that really, you should not have to do to use it. It's year after year after year, the same problems. I switched to DaVinci Resolve, and it has a free version and at the paid version, that is even worth it. I have been down the road with Corel and support, but, it's always the same result. Nothing gets resolved, and if anything does get resolved, it's 6 months later, or, you have to buy then next version..
just how far back I go, I owned this when ULEAD owned it..
I started with ULEAD VideoStudio in '04 or so. Finally sat down and learned DaVinci during covid. Wish I'd switched long before. There's a bit of a learning curve but incredible software for free.
Totally understand. For me using Corel is so easy and covers what I do regarding making video's. My tutorials look like Corel is fast and working flawlessly, that's just good editing.

Mikrowave1 Channel here. Long time user here, i7 with 16GB and Nvidia. I converted from the low end Adobe P Elements years ago. My issues are only apparent when I have longer videos > 20 minutes and after a lot of editing OR when I use the fancier transitions. I know to do these last minute now. The crash happens when your pointer ends up in the middle of a transition. Sometimes a big arrow shows up and freezes. The second major issue is AUDIO artifacts - also transition related. A dupe or echo of the last pops in. This showed up with 19. I fix this by shortening the transitions. Save often. Ha.
I quite often split the audio from the main track, especially if it is a MOV. Move are wrapper, containing video audio, this can cause issues.

The installing fresh codex was not detailed enough to follow, my codex download wanted to install under program files with the the directory name k18...... ?
Top tip to stop freezes, Dump Corel. I did years ago, as it turns out. Once you UN-learn Corel's workflow which is a hot mess of endless effects popup windows, each pop up window doesn't reflect or know what the other popup window has applied. Corel uses convoluted editing techniques. Industry standards work well and make more sense, once you've learned them. Saving you a lot of time on complex projects. Corel is efficient at the basics and I'm being generous. A good editor and a decent computer can edit 4K without creating proxies, Corel can't get out of its own way and is highly inefficient to date.

.MOV is the biggest problem. MOV is the container that holds video and audio. I usually use mp4 to avoid audio sync.
didn't help but great video. My issue is the application will freeze everytime I scrub. it doesn't crash it just freezes and lists as not responding in the taskmanager. I'll look at upgrading the codecs next. 2021 works fine 2022 is unusable.
I was performing the library clearing and I don't have a 25.0 file, only a 23.0 file. Could that be part of my freezing issue?
it should create the file on launch, depending on what version you have.
hey @Gripps2211 Any idea why VS would be giving the errors "Cannot write to the specified disk. Disk space may not be enough, disk may be write-protected, or the file or path name is to long." ? None of these things apply and I get it when I go to my preferences as a popop. I cannot access any of the tabs except General once prefs pops up.
Yep, the file location has been moved. try saving to new folder.

Gripps im having a probem with mp4 videos freezing up my 2023 version, some work and some dont from the same camera, not sure whats causing it.
Is all clips or just one in particular?
The best tip I can give anyone is to avoid this dreadful software like the plague. The issues that this software has are endless and you will be constantly dealing with crashes, lag, audio issues, brightness issues, black flickering, multiple rendering issues and if somehow the stupid thing actually completes a render, don’t jump for joy just yet as very likely the audio will be out of sink with the video and multiple frames will be out of place as well. Also 60fps is choppy.

Tried all the hints - no success. Still freezes on MP4s from Samsung Android phone (and Zoom originated MP4s). This product has become unusable. I am searching for a reasonable replacement.
I don't have problems with crashing. My issue is when rendering an mp4 at 1080, the final product comes out looking like it's at 540 resolution.
Whats the bit rate on final render?

Thanks, I'm having a problem with the scrubber jumping ahead to the 1:017 second mark when I playback the project. When I go to clip and playback it plays immediately at the beginning without jumping ahead. Do you know how to stop it from jumping ahead when I playback in the project mode?
Is your HD turned on or off?
@@gripps2211 HD preview is off. I tried turning it on and it still jumps ahead.
@@gripps2211 Something else that I'm noticing that could be related to this issue is the [Zoom To] setting. When I right click directly on the scrubber head, a small drop down window appears. It has 6 different settings to choose from. One of them is [Zoom To]. The [Zoom To] setting has another sub menu with 17 settings to choose from. All of them are time intervals ranging from 1/6 of a second to 30 seconds. It also has 1 frame and Fit as options. By default mine is set to 1 second. So apparently by default my scrubber is set to Zoom To the 1 second mark when I playback the project. The problem is that I don't know how to disable this setting. All of the other 16 options makes the jump forward action even worse.
@@gripps2211 Another clue is that the exact same drop down menu that appears when I right click directly on the scrubber head, also appears when I right click on the small clock Icon to the left of the project duration time code box. So apparently the scrubber setting is related to the project duration settings but I can't find where these settings are adjusted in any of the menus in Video Studio.
@@sentry8992 Right clicking on the scrubber is the same as project fit to project options right-hand side. It allows you to navigate clips better. When you render out does it jump?
Some videos cannot be imported to VS resulting in file format mismatch error. What is the solution for this?
I have issues with MOV so I convert them using Convert Factory
@@gripps2211 Well, I tried Handbrake and it did the trick. On some of the videos it did not keep the same dimensions though.

My PC hates Smart Proxy. If I check it, I freeze a lot. Uncheck it - zero problems!
Most freezes happens while the file is creating smart proxy and you using the file in timeline at the same time. You can look at cue manager to see the proxy being rendered.
