I don’t know if the camera app will allow audio recording from an external source. I should be able to check this later this week and leave another comment. I expect that, if it does work, the only way to adjust gain will be via the aircraft’s audio system.

Many thanks for this video. Would you be able to find the link to the LC-C35 adapter please?

It’s out of stock at Saramonic UK, but available from Amazon at: www.amazon.co.uk/Saramonic-Locking-Lightning-Output-LC-C35/dp/B08CCJ1ZDF?th=1

Yes. I have now tried the Saramonic LC-C35 with the camera app on my iPhone and sound is recorded by the camera app during video recording.
There does not, however, seem to be any way of controlling gain.

@@pretavol When recording video in this manner is the audio distorted as a result of no gain control? As I’m assuming the aircraft’s audio system isn’t on 100% volume therefore the audio should be usable, is my assumption correct? Thanks, Nik

@@NikinKam Thank you for your question. I recommend that you use an app that has gain control (eg Apogee MetaRecorder or GarageBand). Otherwise you will have to adjust the gain using the volume control on the aircraft's avionics. Adjusting the gain using the aircraft's avionics is less satisfactory because it will affect the volume in the headsets that can then only be compensated if those headsets have volume controls. Better to set the avionics volume and headset volume (usually by having the avionics on high and then turning down the volume on the headsets, if they have volume controls, to suit). Also, using an app that has a gain control enables you to set a gain for the recording that is different to the gain for the headphones. This can be important as, I mentioned in the video, you may need to turn down the gain in the app below that which may look ideal from the waveform in order to avoid distortion. f you just turn down the avionics gain to suit the recorder then the headphones may be too quiet.
