great bargain, these 775 systems are so cheap locally now. i have this mb too, but it needs some new caps as one is leaking, but it is working. i took the q9450 out and im going to put in a p4 641 after the new caps. lol have fun with sli in xp.... win10 is so much better.
Such a lovely PC and specs. From UK there are still some good eBay finds from time to time. Not long ago there was a pristine A-XP PC with a Mitsubishi 19" Diamontron CRT, sold for £120 if I remember. (Im not in the UK, otherwise...) Recently I acquired a Diamond Edge3D 2120 card (the Sega Saturn emulator) for 25
£12! this is one hell of a score! Everything you do from this point is a win. I would stick in the fastest Q cpu I could find, I have a q9650 floating about somewhere. I would be stoked to hell if I had paid £12 for that pc.
Odd combo of parts, pentium 4 with a very late ddr3 motherboard. guess that ramspeed does help with cpu performance a bit compared too that same pentium 4 running on like a ddr only motherboard.

geforce gtx 680, geforce gtx 480, for windows xp are the most efficient graphics cards, that's why the latest computer games optimized for windows xp work normally on geforce gtx 680, geforce gtx 480
Your seller absolutely knew what they had, maybe you should look into it and appreciate it. That EVGA board might be more at home in another system, but pair this 661 CPU with a high-end P35/P45 (and a big cooler) and you will instantly have a single-core monster great for running all those late Windows 98 and early Windows XP games that don't use or cope well with a multi-core CPU.
Ah I have plans for both parts! Got a Q6600 to fit in the motherboard and am hunting a pair or 3 8800/9800 for a mad build. The 661 I hope to put in a socket 775 board that I have which has both AGP and PCI-E. would make a nice 98/xp dual boot system for testing various GPUs
To be fair, anyone other than us vintage PC dudes don't really care about these machines. The guy who sold it to you probably found it in his loft and needed to get rid.
Its possible. But this one was full of indicators that it was used more recently as a retro gaming rig. There was also an image on the HDD of the machine with an athlon XP system in the same case which would explain the windows 98 COA! Certainly indicates someone who is into retro games.
@@megatronskneecapand when I say modern I don't mean like made after 2014. Looks like it's a late 2000's case at the oldest so just around when USB 3 was introduced since it has a USB 3 port or 2 on top.
@@ljrretropcsI have modded xeons they don't like going over 1600 and especially won't if overclocking . I had better luck overclocking ram with qx9650.
@@ljrretropcsall my 775s are ddr3 except for some old random board I kept from a prebuilt that has ddr2. I still have a few old boards I mess around with specifically a p5q3 deluxe and p5e3 deluxe. I have a few modern boards as well but they aren't as fun to overclock but modern CPUs have become so powerful I don't find myself caring about overclocking my modern stuff.
@@ljrretropcsI don't think the chipset on any of the best 775s were that capable. Maybe if you were under clocking the CPUs. I would save that ram for a decent ivy bridge or any good core I series from the early generations.

You should upgrade the CPU to quad core like Q9550 or QX9650.

I thought 775 was limited to 1333 with the possibility of being able to hit 1600 with some good settings and good ram.
This board has DDR3 so has more room for the RAM. EVGA Claim the board could even go beyond 1600. I guess you would need a modded 771 cpu to do that.
