Revolutionizing Deliveries: Can the CyberTruck Replace a Delivery Truck?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- Tesla claims that the CyberTruck has a 2,500 lb payload capacity. We take the CyberTruck to the max to see if these claims are true. I also used our CyberTruck to deliver 1,423 lbs of product to a customer who is 20 miles away. Watch to see how it did.

Hook up the back straps before loading. Love the video
Thanks
Honestly, for deliveries and such with construction material, an 8ft bed is what really makes the difference
That’s what I have on my Ram 3500
Can’t wait for the range extender battery. While it will limit pallet deliveries (since it takes space) it would make RV and long range hauling a reality - especially if it can show real world range of 200-250 miles while towing a trailer. Most people don’t tow RVs for more than 3 hours per day so that range is ideal.
Yes, I’m leaning more and more towards purchasing the range extender
Where did you come up with THAT number? Not talking to anyone in an actual RV park, I'll bet.
When you're in an Idaho RV park and see plates from every stste BUT Idaho, it took more than 3 hours for EVERY ONE of them to get there.
If that was using the stainless doorstop, that time frame would be DOUBLE due to incessant charging. This thing is nowhere NEAR replacing an F350...or even an F150.
@@billcichoke2534 exactly! not only with the f350 you dont have to actually rely on camping sites where there is electricity, you can literaly go in the middle of nowhere and camp there are solar panels and battery setups for coocking, internet, for the fridge, charging devices..... American trucks are becoming more popular in Australia for example and they can literaly pack everything and go everywhere they want no stress.
@carholic-sz3qv AMERICAN trucks? You guys have had the friggin' HILUX for how many decades? You just need bigger camper trailers/caravans/whatever your local term is.
But you also have the same Onan small diesel generators we in the states do, which can power EVERYTHING you mentioned...day or night, 24/7. With 20 gallons of diesel, it would run approximately 3 days.
@@billcichoke2534 diesel is for the vehicle, the rest of the equipments are mostly electric with some gas stoves..... you dont need a diesel generator at all lol!!! RVs in Australia arent gigantic compared to the houses literaly beeing towed in the usa.
Very good video for anyone planning to work their CT. Tip: measure levelling to the ground because the rear tires' center is lower than the front tires due to the load squeezing them. Excellent ! No bullshit video !!
Thanks, I appreciate the tip!
Nice! I love seeing the Cybertruck out in the real world doing real truck stuff! Those who say the Cybertruck is not a real pickup truck are short a few marbles.
😂
yes its not a real truck lol!!! no one is short of whatever you think! this literlay compares to honds ridgeline! a regular truck is capable to be easy modded into whatever you want from RV, to 6x6 to chassis extension, dump truck, single/double cab, ambulance, overlanding rig with all kinds of adds-on possible and extending the range of ICE is as simple as just jerrycans or auxiliary fuel tank which doesnt affect the practicality of the truck..... list is exhaustive.
@@carholic-sz3qv Millions of trucks are sold every year and yet almost none of them converted to ambulances, or given 6x6 chassis extensions, or converted to single cabs, or turned into dump trucks. Sure, it's possible, it's just not worthwhile because smart buyers buy the truck that suits the purpose from the start. Realistically, how many 1/2-ton dump trucks do you think really get made each year? Hint: It's close to zero. Obviously, you like to dream about impractical things while the rest of us are buying the truck that gets the jobs they need done.
Cybertruck hits squarely in the middle of what most people buy a 1/2 ton pickup for, making the addressable market huge! Legacy auto even thought they had a configuration and trim level for every buyer of a 1/2-ton pickup, that they had the market sewn up tight. But then Tesla comes along and shows the gaping hole legacy auto left in the truck market.
What, you ask, was the "gaping hole" legacy auto left in the pickup truck market? It turns out, some people want a truck that doesn't just claim to be tough, they want those claims to actually be true. They are tired of trucks that look big and tough but are brought to their knees simply because they park next to a Chevy Cobalt and the wind catches its door leaving a nice door ding or paint chip in their truck with a fragile girly exterior. All legacy trucks have pretty but very thin, soft paint coatings that can be scratched or dented simply by driving down an over-grown trail or being hit by a rock or other piece of debris kicked up on the highway. And they know as soon as that thin, soft body panel is dented and the paint is cracked or scratched, the ugliness begins. The flimsy metal starts looking a nasty shade of orange, the rust crawls under the chip and peels more paint away. The cancer grows and the truck is exposed for what it's really made of, thin, flimsy, soft, cheap rust prone materials.
Truck owners are tired of their trucks being just as damage prone as a Chevy Cobalt. Legacy auto never saw this coming, they thought they could fool truck buyers into thinking their trucks were tough merely by saying they were tough, but this isn't sitting right with many people these days.
Great video and information.
Thanks
That wrap is stunning
Thanks, I love it
Is that 3M Satin Black
Ya ya, what name do they give the color of that wrap?
@@ericred8124brushed black metallic
Very informative video, and I think your wrap looks the best so far, cheers.
Much appreciated!
Really enjoyed the video! Seeing how it handled and the surprisingly small effect on efficiency was great. Keep up the great work!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it and I have many more real life scenarios with the truck in upcoming videos
Yeah, speed has a big impact on range, so driving slower might prevent the need to charge on a longer trip.
Yes, anytime you drive over 70mph your range will start to deplete quickly
AC kills the battery quickly. Roll down the window and the range is greatly increased
I have the model s and I love it but I can't wait till I get the truck!!! And I'm still going to keep my car 💪
🔋
Let’s load up that truck!!!!! I love this real world use demo! 👍👍👍
💪🏼
Just be careful my friend, with you in the car you could be exceeding the payload capacity (not with 1423 obviously). Those insurance companies will deny you coverage if you get into anything and they discover you exceeded the limit.
I appreciate it. I didn’t drive with the 2,500 lbs. I just wanted to show how the air suspension auto levels. Thanks
You're the first person to measure the width of the Vault! Nice Job!!! Do you know the width at the top of the vault? Seems like it flares out a bit.
I appreciate the kind words and watch. So I don’t have a measuring tape with me right now but I used my measuring app and it states the top of the vault at 4’9”
Great video. A couple rude requests. 1) could you pick different “hold” music, 2) I’d recommend asking Brooks from drag Times what remote Microphone he uses. It’s hard to hear you when you turn away from camera.
Thanks for the watch and requests. I’ll look into different music options. Since recording this video I have bought new mics. Hopefully they help. I appreciate the feedback
Nice Wrap.
Thank you. I love it
I can see them making a step system that attaches to the side as an aftermarket accessory.
Oh I hope so because while getting into the bed my leg hit the corner of the tailgate and I got a cut and bruise. Those corners are no joke
@@Butter_EV that sounds painful. Cyberinjuries will be a thing in the owner community. Wonder if they should cover some of the corners like in high use areas w thin rubber like material. Could be clear and thin.
I think a step would make all the difference
That happens on my F-150 too. The F-150 tailgate corners are very sharp. It might be worse because the F-150 bed is so much higher and harder to get in and out of. @@Butter_EV
Attach the straps in the back and other end on top or over the side of the bed before loading cargo. Or, have a small step ladder handy.
I’m waiting for a step attachment to be released to help
So the manual says the frunk is rated for 400lbs and the rear cargo area is rated for 1300lbs on the Dual motor. They say more than that can overload the axles. maybe read the manual??
Who reads manuals?? 😂🤣 tbh I didn’t know this but imma go read the manual now
Since you said it again I'm going to remind you that you're wrong about the 2400 lbs you forgot to deduct all of your trailer. You forgot about the hitch.
That puts couple hundred pounds on your truck.
That's why every calculation you made was wrong.
You are correct tongue weight is 100% a part of your overall payload. Thanks for the comment and watch
I don’t own a newer truck, my Chevy doesn’t have any kind of load leveling. Is that a common feature on newer trucks? It’s super nice! I would love it if you showed us the energy screen with actual vs predicted energy usage at the end of your trip, and analyze the numbers a bit there.
Most of the newer trucks do not have air suspension with auto leveling. Some do but most don’t. I can definitely dive deeper into the numbers the next time I do a payload test
Great information. Thanks for your time/effort in sharing.
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for the watch
Your measurement of 61 inches for bed depth for a high load is going to be off because you were measuring at an angle.
It wasn't a steep angle so it's not a whole lot, but I wouldn't be surprised if the real number is more like 60 inches. I certainly would NOT rely on 61 inches.
I appreciate the observation!
why did you totally skip the usage for the trip back? when you were going faster potentially, we want to see the round trip numbers
You’re right I should’ve added that to the video. I didn’t think it was relevant as the video was based on the truck delivering a pallet. But I hear you and understand why some would like that information. I’ll do another video like this in the future but with more weight and when I do I’ll include this information. Thank you so much for the watch and feedback
Great video. I really like that wrap, has a nice metallic look to it. What’s the color name? Is it vinyl or colored ppf?
Thank you for the kind words. The wrap is 3M 2080 and n brushed black metallic. It is a vinyl
Great video, thanks.
I appreciate the kind words
339 wh/m?! That’s better than my M Y in 40 degree temps at highway speed with winter rates tires on. How the heck did they manage that? Nice.
Yes, I was pleasantly surprised when I seen the efficiency after this run. To be fair there was traffic so I wasn’t going highway speeds the whole drive, which I’m sure really helped
I didn’t even watch the whole video. What do u mean replace a moving truck ?
The CyberTruck cannot replace a moving truck but it is fully capable of doing small hauls
@@Butter_EV we know that. It’s a truck. An f150 can do the same. We are confused
got to reduce more because of hitch weight.
Pretty sure that’s taken into account
What about Rivian or Lighting for the same job?
I’d love the opportunity to test those trucks out for comparison
What are the interior dimensions?
I can take some measurements for you. What specifically are you looking for?
Your numbers are wrong I can't believe you missed this.
You got your measurements while you were hooked to a trailer.
You deducted the weight on the trailer axle but you completely forgot about the 200 lbs that were on the hitch.
That's why your number is useless
Which numbers are you referring to? Id love to make sure I get them right
@@Butter_EV awesome. Thanks for your dedication.
The number I was complaining about was how you said Tesla claim to the vehicle was one weight and when you put the cybertruck on a scale you got a slightly different number. You deducted the weight of the trailer axle but forgot to deduct the weight of the tongue on the truck. It seemed to give you about a 200 lb discrepancy.
I was frustrated you were claiming Tesla mislabeled the weight of their truck by 200 lb when sitting at home we could tell what your mistake was.
Does the rear window on the truck bed go down?
Unfortunately not
How do I get that wrap? Who makes it?
It’s a 3M 2080 Brushed black metallic. If a shop has 3M wraps they should have access to it
@@Butter_EV appreciate it
How much can you load in the bed without exceeding rear GAWR?
Well they state 2,500 lbs but my calculations show 2,409 lbs. and this is without any people or cargo in the cabin
Isn’t that assuming equal payload on both axles?
@@Butter_EV I think the rear axle rating is closer to 1500 lbs. of additional load, so you were probably very close to the actual rated capacity. That said, most trucks can do a lot more than they are rated for when driven easily on smooth roads.
In order to reach the full 2500 payload capacity, you would need to fill up the frunk, a cab full of people and a load in the bed.
GVWR is 9169 lbs GAWR Front is 4255 lbs GAWR Rear is 5247 lbs
True, but you will need to subtract the actual unloaded axle weight from the 5247 GAWR in order to determine how much weight you can put in the bed. Of course, this simple calculation assumes the cargo is evenly centered, directly above the rear axle. @@Butter_EV
