  • Learn how to make a pillowcase using your favorite novelty fabric, sport team, cartoon character or just fabric leftovers to match your latest quilt. Stephanie Soebbing from www.QuiltAddictsAnonymous.com breaks down the process and uses a French seam, which encloses all edges so you don't need a serger and your pillowcase will look more professional than the ones you buy in the store.
    Supplies we used:
    3/4 yard fabric for the body
    1/4 yard fabric for the sleeve
    2.5-inc by WOF for the flange

    What an incredible woman! Multi-tasking 4 ways at once: watching baby, sewing, teaching, making UA-cam video. Wow! And your instructions are so clear and the video is so well paced. I bought Sesame Street fabric and will use your instructions to make pillows cases for my young grandchildren.

    I followed this tutorial and made a matching pillowcase for my granddaughters appliqued quilt I just finished making her. I followed the instructions in the video exactly, and used left-over fabric from the quilt. The pillowcase came out perfect, and was very simple to make! And no raw edges inside the pillowcase, so it looks professionally made. It will always launder well and look as good as new. Thanks for your videos! I always love watching and learning from you!

    I used your tutorial to make 3 pairs of pillow case with my 2 grandsons and their father's favorite things. For the youngest he wanted outer space and planets, big brother wanted marvel comics and dad wanted Mickey mouse. They were definitely happier with these instead of socks or underwear in their stockings. I am one of those practical givers. Of course I give toys when you are younger, but once you get in your teens I figure money works better and they can save and get what they want. Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year.

    Thank you for this great tutorial. I need help. I am making flannel with the flange so the 3 layers are thick. First it is hard to pull the roll out. Then it is very difficult to sew the side seams over the flange. Ripping out stitches in flannel risks cutting a thread of fabric. Size 12 needle...should it be larger? Maybe I will try a walking foot. to Was lifting foot to move fabric, sew, repeat. Got thread nests. Thank you in advance for any replies.

    • @QuiltAddictsAnonymous
      @QuiltAddictsAnonymous  3 роки тому

      I would try using a denim needle. Also press the seams open to avoid bulk and go very slow over them so you do not break a needle. I do also think a walking foot would be your best bet.

      For a king pillowcase add approximately 5in to the body and 1in to the cuff. Make sure to measure your pillow and make sure it will be long enough to cover it first.

    Did I catch the measurements correctly? Length was:
    3/4 yard or 27" + 2.5" + 9 " = 38.5 " (queen pillowcase?) What was the width of the fabric you used? What would you add in inches for a King pillowcase?

    • @QuiltAddictsAnonymous
      @QuiltAddictsAnonymous  Рік тому +2

      Close. The 2.5 inch strip doesn't add to the length so you have the 27" + (9/2) - .5 which equals 31 inches. For a king, I add 2 inches to the body, making it 29 inches, and 1 inch to the cuff, making it 10 inches. The width of all the fabrics were 42 inches.
