Years ago I taking my daughter and her friends to the theatre so they could catch a movie. Their discussion on the way was what kids music they remembered listening to when driving somewhere. The average age of my daughter’s friends was around 15 or so so Barney and Sesame Street came up as their memories of driving as a child. My daughter was a little quiet during the exchange when one of her friends asked, “what did you listen to while driving with your parents?” With her eyes fixed into mine through the rear view mirror, my daughter calmly replied, “I listened to Marilyn Manson.” The ensuing silence was the virtual mike-drop. It was a quiet remainder of the ride.

Not to just listen to his music, but pay close attention to his texts and videos where there always is one or more messages/ meanings. He is highly intelligent, and as you said, does what he does and doesn't care what other thinks of him. How much better can it get! I've listened to him since the second half of the 90's when he got out there among so many artists, and he is still today active and popular. Clearly he is definitely doing something right! I would definitely look into the history of shock rock that paved the way for Marilyn Manson. My favorite, and considered the grandfather of shock rock has to be Alice Cooper. I went to one of his concerts and saw him electrocuted in a big old sparky, beheaded by guillotine, and sing with a 8-10 foot Burmese python. It was amazing. I would recommend his songs I'm eighteen, Only women bleed, Schools out, Welcome to my nightmare, Elected, or No more Mr nice guy. Funny thing is that his real life personality is totally different from his stage persona, I listen to his radio show a lot and he's so sweet and goofy with a lot of bad dad jokes...and he loves golf. I just keep seeing him dress in his stage outfits playing golf in my head when I think about that and giggle.

His type of music is like Industrial Rock. He is extremely intelligent. His songs have deep meaning for sure. He was accused of causing the Columbine shooting which nearly ruined his career all because the boys that were the shooters wore a Marilyn Manson shirt sometimes and listened to his music. Manson was asked, "What would you have said to those kids that killed all those people if you would've had the chance?" He said, I wouldn't have said anything, I would have listened which is apparently what no one did. "

Marilyn Manson and Tool video's almost always distract from the message they are putting out, on top of that, when they were forced to change lyrics to get it on Mtv it waters down the impact of the lyrics, you should really go back and listen to the uncensored album version of this while reading the official lyrics, this album, in my opinion, was his pinnacle of creativity.

Basically an era called "Shock Rock" dude was a master of it as the Godfather Alice Cooper had done decades before.
Had parents, communities, churches and many others in an uproar when he came out, esp when he came to town. Although I've never seen him live my friends and I were skate boarding in downtown Houston back when he came to town and man there were A LOT of church groups and people holding signs and warning young teens and adults from going into the show. Quite a trip to see. Was also done with Ozzy and other bands, but it was pretty wild when Manson came to town.

The crazy cool thing about *Marilyn Manson* he's quite the interesting and intelligent fellow. I had the coolest evening hangin' out with him and *Twiggy Ramirez* ( his Bass player at the time) at meet and greet at one our National Record Mart stores in Pittsburgh pa. When he was waiting on the fans, he drank tea and was well spoken total opposite of the stage persona that the crowds were use to seeing lol. And yes I got to see the show that night and he was stage persona amplified!! Some other great tunes from Marilyn and Co. *; Sweet Dreams, The Dope Show, Personal Jesus, Tainted Love and I Don't Like The Drugs.* Love Peace and Happiness Y'all !!

he is surprisingly a very intelligent individual. Everything he does is very deliberate, and his lyrics are very deep. Nothing he ever does or includes in his videos is frivolous. There is almost always a reason for it, except when he wants to just plain shock people. But even then he does it for a deeper secondary reason. Everything reads like a story book.
He does have some weird stuff though, some of has meaning i don't think i even want to know about. He addresses some nasty stuff that society nearly always just sweeps under the rug.
