I love learning things about what grows wild around me. I'm 70 and even though I've used these plants for food and medicine for all of those years, I'm always open to new insights. I don't always know why things work, because granny didnt; she just knew some things worked. I have my own note books of things passed down and share when I can. I'm in Western Kentucky.
Fantastic reason to get my husband to finally stop using pesticides on our property! Our daughter has tunnelling boils, and is taking an awful injection every week to turn her over active immune system off.... We could have just used this? Wow, no wonder it's growing all over our property, God was showing me He had an answer all along! Like I said, now to get hubby to let the land do its thing...🙏
well, I found out today (thanks to this info that the new bump on my wrist is a ganglion cyst). So, I made a poultice for it and for the bump I have on my palm below one of my fingers...which is causing a trigger type finger...I put a poultice on them both today twice ......and the trigger finger is actually able to bend....no ice needed either...Im surprised. Its pretty awesome!! Tomorrow, Im going to harvest a bunch more and make a salve. Thankyou so much, I believe it made a difference today.
I love this video. Great info . Right now, we have a great deal of chickweed in the yard and in containers. Question, why isnt there a like button here...theres no place to like. Never seen this before.
My chickens love chickweed. I let it grow where it comes up. I like to let it get well established each season, then early mornings while still damp with dew, i will harvest a bunch of it for my budgie & parakeet who just love to kind of scuff about and lay in it to bathe. I use it in salad too. Definitely going to make this salve. My granddaughter has chronic eczema and i have chronic asthma we are both cold and dry. I’m getting so much out of the mini course on getting the right herbs for me… i just started lesson 4. Plus… I ordered your book the other day and cannot wait for it to wing its way to Australia 🇦🇺
Great video! I have tons of chickweed in my garden. Your video has inspired me to add this plant to my plantain salve! Being very sensitive, I use coconut oil instead of olive oil. Love your books! 💚🧚🌞
The information in this video has been so helpful. I never thought that chickweed was for me because of the "cooling effect" and I am always cold. 🥶 But I never considered the frequent eye and skin irritations I sometimes encounter.
Great video and recipe! 👍🙏 Thank you! I just started taking a chickweed tincture made from Brandy menstruum by a trusted herbalist. She uses fresh chickweed. I'm enjoying the taste. Wonderful information, I may try to grow some in my yard. 🦋🐔🐣💞
Great information on Chickweed! I love the color of your sweater. Your pictures are so good, I loved the up close detail. Thank you so much for this video!
Hi do you have video on stinging nettle and if you have that particular weed mentioned in your wild remedies book? Thank you so much. I really like your videos as you really put my anxious heart at ease when foraging. 😅 thank you and God bless
HI! I m new to this foraging thing. I ve been gathering Wonderfull edibles From my own Backyard 😆 And Now I Know What this Delicate plant is I ve been "Tasteing" everyyear at this time.😅Its Chickweed 😎😎😎😎
Could this be used as a nasal spray? I have such a dry nose… in the summer because of the fans and in the winter because of the heater. Also I live in a dry climate. I usually make a chickweed herbal infusion just to drink, once or twice a week and I am so tempted to just spray it up my nose with a nasal sprayer bottle. Thanks for any information.
Very helpful video. I am making this salve today in the hopes it will help my dog with chronically dry/itchy/inflamed skin. Nothing else has worked so far but I am hopeful. Sophie is so uncomfortable :/
Sorry to hear Sophie is so uncomfortable! I hope the salve helps! Did you happen to see my interview with Swanie? I ask her about dog skin issues towards the end.
It depends on what you're looking for... I prefer beeswax to tropical waxes because I get it locally from ethical beekeepers. So I know it's the best choice environmentally. If environmental impact is not an issue for you then you can order exotic waxes from tropical places. Carnauba is commonly used, but it is harder than beeswax so the ratio you use will be different. Cocoa butter could also be used... I can't say I've seen that but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
I wouldn't expect chickweed, on its own, to make a significant impact on brain inflammation. That's a bit more complex and requires a more thoughtful and holistic protocol.

Every year I make chickweed vinegar. I love chickweed too! So nutritious when you come out of winter.

Wild Remedies was one of the first herb books I bought.
I love it as a pretty and tasty salad, combined with henbit flowers and carrots 😋
I love chickweed I have it all around my garden absolutely love it. It also curves my appetite
Yay! I love your videos! I grow a pot of chickweed in a small pot in my kitchen window. I love to eat it once in a while. I like the taste too

You are so welcome!
I just found a patch of chickweed in my yard. I was so excited to pick some for my chickens. I had no idea humans could use it too
Thank you for the info. I will be harvesting my chickweed in the next few days to make this salve. Take care.

Hi, yes, chickweed and nettle are both in Wild Remedies.
Cheers,
Karin Rose
Great info very thoroughly done , it's your little central KY subscriber , I always enjoy your work, now I know what chickweed is !!
Thank you Rosalee!! What A world!!!!

Thanks for sharing. Can the salve be used on an inflamed scalp?
Yes, absolutely

Can you also use sticky chickweed?
Just found you through the great algorithm. Great video, I have loads of chickweed in my yard right now.😊💜🙏
Wonderful! Enjoy your chickweed!
Do we have any good alternative to bees wax to make salve? Can we use cocoa butter?
It depends on what you're looking for... I prefer beeswax to tropical waxes because I get it locally from ethical beekeepers. So I know it's the best choice environmentally. How can I add my powder chickweed
Would it be ok to, instead of heating, let the chickweed set in the oil for several weeks?
It's possible but you have to be really careful that it doesn't develop mold. Water and oil are generally not a good mix.
I love chickweed. Even raw! It's yummy
I ordered dry chickweed from Amazon. I’m wondering if I should cancel it. Is there any use for dry chickweed?
It is hard to know without seeing it and using your senses (sight, smell, taste, touch). Buying from a supplier you trust helps a lot! ~Karin Rose
Thank u soooul much darling u r legend
✨❣️😽🤚💕✨
Is it also beneficial to combat brain inflammation?
I wouldn't expect chickweed, on its own, to make a significant impact on brain inflammation. That's a bit more complex and requires a more thoughtful and holistic protocol.
❤Thankyou!!
Great
Do you have your UA-cam in French also?
Malheureusement, non. But I highly recommend my friend Christophe Bernard for herbal videos in French. Althea Provence is his channel name.
Are you aware of people using your video to sell a chickweed salve?
Yes. Unfortunately I can't get Facebook/Meta to take it down. Thanks for alerting me though.
@@HerbsWithRosalee I’m going to keep reporting it. I knew it was stolen the second I saw it.
Way back in 1989, Chickweed cleared up a bad skin rash I had that would not yield to any other herb or treatment.
Chickweed is immortal!
