Snow Chick: A Penguin's Tale
This enchanting film follows the adventures of one charismatic emperor penguin from the time he emerges from the egg to the moment he leaves for the sea. Emperor penguins grow up during the winter in one of the coldest places on Earth - the Antarctic. The conditions are harsh and chicks must endure temperatures of minus 60 degrees Celsius and terrifying blizzards. This film follows the trials and tribulations of one adorable fluffy chick - from his first tentative steps on the ice, to getting lost, to hanging out with the other chicks. It also shows the lengths his parents will go to provide food, overcoming huge obstacles, avoiding predators like leopard seals, and enduring freezing conditions. Full of tense and moving moments as well as comedy and character, Snow Chick follows the emperor penguin's life story in a level of detail never attempted before.

Penguin dads are the ultimate underappreciated heroes. Literally incubates the egg and raises it the first few months goes back to get food while hes half his weight to come back and feed the wife and kid
Agreed! ✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻
Sounds like an “I’m just going to the store for milk and cigs” story to me. 😂
You are half right, females become weak after producing the egg, it consumed a lot resources to make it, so they are the first to go back to the ocean to eat, and bring food. The males will be the first to stay and care for the egg, resiting one of the coldest times on earth, the female will come back, feed them and then the male will go back to the ocean for food. Both do exactly the same, they take turns.
Where does he carry that food which he brings to his family?

Yes I'm so glad Snow Chick's mommy found him. I saw this documentary & I loved it, he's quite a survivor for such a tiny chick 🐧❤️

And the dad! Penguin survival depends on both mom and dad.
Poor little one is freezing, can’t imagine their survival. Imagine how they help each other to warm each other.
I guess this is how they realized it's better to stick together than to go at it alone.

@Jericho Kilmanja I saw the documentary on Snow Chick & he survives. He survives almost being kidnapped & nearly crushed to death, broke away from almost being attacked by a petrol & almost being eaten by a seal. The documentary is very good, he's quite a survivor for such a tiny penguin.
@@luckyladyz well that makes it seem all the more likely this has been "copy paste" edited together as the other guy mentioned. And i mean... why wouldnt they lol. more dramatic/emotional = more money.

@@luckyladyz Wow, sounds like a real life disney movie :D We face some adversity and danger, it gets scary at times, but then all is well at the end
I love how socially organized and parentally evolved penguins are. They also have no natural land predators so they don't see humans as a threat. I doubt they'd treat a human differently than another penguin. Fascinating creatures.
I can tell you didn’t order the DVD.
Their natural predators can also walk on land (skuas and giant petrels).
It’s a pity, of course, for such a cute little fluffy one if the birds want to eat him (I remember the cartoon “The Old Sailor's Tales. Antarctica,” where a boy student of an old captain saved an emperor penguin chick from a skua and also shouted to the latter, “Drop the child, you hooligan!”😊)
As for what penguins think of humans: in Happy Feet, the protagonist, the young emperor penguin Mumble, also decided about zoo visitors that they were freaks, “big ugly black penguins with no beaks” (the same as the skua that once tried to eat him , decided about the ornithologists who caught and banded him). In this film, different birds show amazing unanimity towards humans ☺
They *do* have some predators.
I swear humans could learn so much from animals. Animals show how we’re supposed to treat everyone and support one another.
Us humans won’t
Don't confuse humans with psychopaths. Two big differences. Humans are doing just fine

They also rotate almost on an hourly basis, the ones on the very edge will slowly come more towards the middle that way they all survive. It's fascinating.
Isnt that interssting? That is kind of like when birds fly in a "V" formation; when the bird that has been flying at the tip gets tired, it moves to the tail end and another bird up front takes its place and they rotate that way. ❤

Yeah they are all mad those nature camera people. They spend many months filming in the worst conditions to just catch a birth or a few minutes in a massive documentary. Some animals get so used to having that person around they start using them as look out posts or babysitters.
@@Iflie that would be fun lol
@@leealvin121 They made whole seasons of following a meerkat colony and they acted totally naturally around them but so much so they just stood on their heads as it was a handy platform.
Similar with a show on big cats, they were so used to the jeeps they'd use them as look out posts and certain females would bring the cubs to the camera guy and then went hunting, but that stopped the guy from following her as he was now on babysitting duty.
Reminds me of my own feral cat, I couldn't pet her or put my hand in the box with her babies but she still left them alone with me, going to do her bussiness for a few minutes while I was in the room, I think housecats look for a babysitter though. At around 6 weeks she put them on my bed and I was on night duty while she rested under my bed.

The animals can progress only to the equivalent of a human toddler. So they forget these horrible experiences very soon, but not completely forgetten. If they were not in the human world, they can be more than just a toddler. Interesting that they can do one or two adult human traits well...like caring for the needy young, and building nest/shelter, or furnishing a den for added comfort. They also defend/hunt well...has to do with the food chain and keeping their world and habitat in balance the "cruel" way. Our domesticated pet cats and dogs practice defensive and hunt the playful way...a lot less "cruel".

They’re animals. Not all of them have a exact moral compass like us.
On top of that if most of them are mother’s themselves do you think they’ll give up their own child to save someone else’s?
They only have one pouch. The males in the colony don’t have pouches and when they get that big they don’t fit underneath the male in general so they stop roosting the baby at that stage.
