Snow Chick: A Penguin's Tale
This enchanting film follows the adventures of one charismatic emperor penguin from the time he emerges from the egg to the moment he leaves for the sea. Emperor penguins grow up during the winter in one of the coldest places on Earth - the Antarctic. The conditions are harsh and chicks must endure temperatures of minus 60 degrees Celsius and terrifying blizzards. This film follows the trials and tribulations of one adorable fluffy chick - from his first tentative steps on the ice, to getting lost, to hanging out with the other chicks. It also shows the lengths his parents will go to provide food, overcoming huge obstacles, avoiding predators like leopard seals, and enduring freezing conditions. Full of tense and moving moments as well as comedy and character, Snow Chick follows the emperor penguin's life story in a level of detail never attempted before.

The relief on the father’s face is so visible once he’s transferred his chick back to his partner. So sweet. 🥺
the struggle is REAL
T H E B A B Y

It's a cold, bleak, harsh life. I'd say those chicks give them a lot of purpose and to lose them would suck.
Yeah, but they don’t like the players on the opposing little league team. They’ll peck them to death.
It hurts my heart to think that for every trip to the sea one of the parents take, they might be killed by a seal. In that case, the remaining parent and child will wait for weeks for a birdie that will never again come back, slowly starving and freezing - but still trying to hold up hope for someone who will never return.
😭😭😭
They will probably think the father was gone to buy some milk and a pack of cigarretes
It’s sad and hurts my heart too
Very sad indeed. Your comment reminded me of the end of Interstellar, when Dr. Brand is left stranded in a lost planet.
So would the mother and child just die?
When the chick flapped his wings at 3:54, he looked like he was waving goodbye to his dad. My heart.
So sweet of baby.❤
Even though, it's actually because the chick knew the father more than anyone (even the mother) and he wanted to go back to him.
It's called flippers
When the baby chick was transferred to his mother, I love how the father just kept his head down and close to the mother's pouch for a while🥺 So sweet, like its hard to say goodbye and he's making sure the chick is safe and warm🥰
Actually, the one who kept his head down is the female. U can see that it has the baby in the pouch. While the other one, the male, has the empty pouch.
@@wcados800 it's the father, watch closely
that was the mother not the father
I think penguins treat their children more responsibly than some people
Heheh... right
Than most people
You mean 90% of people
👍
Cut to penguin mothers who've lost their own babies chasing other penguins babies, severely injuring or killing them in the process, just to get bored of them 2 hours later and letting them starve to death
They're still cute tho!
Love the way they all walk together & baby penguins are soo cute
Penguins are wonderful animals 💚🐧💚. Beautiful documentary about wonderful animals 🐧🕊️
baby penguin is cute but absolutely useless.
@@edenhazard2751yeah useless in Minecraft
@@edenhazard2751the hell do you expect? They're babies.
@@hckingking Babies and oldies beyond 80s have no value in economic world. They have to be nurtured and provided by adult.
aww 3:18 when the father rests his head on the mother's belly. must be nice finally being together again, even though it's for a short while.
actually is the female the one resting
@@wcados800 no, the dad transferred the chick to the mom. So the one without the chick resting it’s head is the father
@@WaterEnjoyerXD i repeat, u can see the poach. The right one has the baby, u can even see how the female is still helping the baby with her beak. The left one has an empty poach
that was the mother
It was mother who was resting his head..
absolutely amazing how the penguins survive the extreme conditions to get food for their chick, who shelters in the parent's fur
they'd be dead in 10 mins without their parents
@@LIONTAMER3D At that age yes. When they are old enough to learn to swim, no.
Для них это не экстремальные условия, для них так создал БОГ
im dying this is too funny lmao, "even for penguins, they all look alike ROFL"
"hey are you my hubby? hey are you my hubby? maybe you? hey...."
lol, your comment has me in tears...!
I found this cmnt so funny😂😂😂😂
AHHAAHHAHA
Lmfaoo 🤣🤣
hey so uhm idk why my fitgirl repaccksss thing time increased
Oh how sweet and heartwarming it is to see the father and the chick welcoming the return of the mother! 😍
Such a magnificent relationship they have!
It's beautiful. Sometimes people say that animals can't feel like we can, but it's obvious that they do. The mother's behaviour when reuniting with her mate and chick said it all.
There is always hidden messages/moral values in the animal kingdom along with brutality/evil greed
# parenthood is not about gender
Truly amazing you know some parents could take some tips on raising their children from these wonderful animals
Like yours?
Yes. I now know to leave my child for 3 months to get food.
@@lol-dm8wx First it’s two months and second, each parent takes turns taking care of the baby.
@@lol-dm8wx 🤣
@@Mytoothmission don't be offended when someo states the fact snowflake
So elegant and mesmerizing. Nothing can be more beautiful than this.
I don't know if I would call penguins on land "elegant". What's mesmerizing about them is having to puke up food that's months old. And we all know how bad the taste in your mouth is until you drink some fluids. And they don't even have that option. Amazing creatures. The chick also constantly poops in the parents pouch. Incredible
@Max Azzopardi
The fleet look elegant to me, don't know about you.
@@maxazzopardi7446 I think it is better than the rock penguins' cannons. At least here you can't get sprayed by poo in your eyes, mouth or back.
@@maxazzopardi7446 From the DVD I discovered the food stays fresh. I didn't bother researching exactly how that happens because I don't want to turn myself off of fish, LOL!
I have madd respects for the penguin dynasty. These little ones go thru it. From the journey to transfers. Keeping that egg off the ice is impressive. And baby from freezing. Absolutely mindblowing animals.
Love the bond between dad and the chick 🥲 The relationship between the three must be so exhausting to endure. Mamas gotta build up love and trust towards her baby, while baby’s already imprinted on dad.
They r very social and extrovert and they r close to human but some dont have the human values u consider them sub human. I really adore them the way they walk like old elderly men. They can survive in excruciating climate due to their body temperature and they r warm blooded with thick resistance for coat.
@@arifbhatti3361 truely remarkable! Great read! thank you for that.
When the narrator says "in four weeks he'll arrive in fresh supplies", I heart rumbled because life can happen!
Hii
The chick was really saying goodbye and waving hands🥺
Help me
For anyone wondering, there are no cameramen. It’s just a robotic penguin with a camera to record the penguins, not a human.
Oh wow. I was wondering about that. I wonder how exactly that works…
شكرا كنت حائرة 😊😊
@@heathercmarie3 Its basically a drone, or like an rc car with a gopro if you prefer that comparison. Just a silent lone penguin with cameras in its head
Very cute, especially the chick. Lovely scene, made me tear up.
Most loyal creatures in the whole universe. I'm in love with them.
I've seen this documentary, it was so emotional and wholesome. The chick was the smallest and faced so many dangers, but at the end he lead all the other chicks to the great antarctic ocean. 👌
This is one of the most unique ways of raising a child on earth, trekking on foot, one small step at a time, 200km to get food for your family!!
You are right !
Why can't they live closer to the sea?
I love when the baby calls to his father & waves goodbye to him. Beautiful moment, made me teary eyed ❤️ 🐧
1:06 how schools expect us to get out of a fire
😂😂😂
How surprised...mother and father are totally equal in their child rearing and their bond seems so strong. I'm impressed. This is a rare and precious thing even in the human world.
This is extremely common amongst birds
@@tiyas5378Depends on species hey. Some bird species are very sexually dimorphic and some aren’t. I mean, you’re looking at one of the oldest groups of animals, so evolutionarily, they’re very diverse. One of the theories though is the energy it takes to lay the egg itself, which for some female birds, is enough to make them almost immobile for a considerable time period, and thus the male partner takes over.
Evolution and post natal care in animals is fascinating!
@@kakonthebed Sexual dimorphism is indeed widely present in birds, but that doesn't have much to do with the fact that biparental care is more or less the "default" amongst them (it is observed in 81% of all bird species).
Evolutionary biology is super fascinating, I agree! It's my academic specialization :D
@@tiyas5378 that many? Holy shit, that’s awesome. I love those little guys. I don’t study it, but I have autism, so close enough!
The sacrifices of the parent penguins or ...
Mostly parents in general is incomparable !!!
Unconditional love that our planet still (somehow) worth to live.
Yeah, we still have free-thinking penguins. 🥲
Mother nature is truly mesmerizing and miraculous. I was surprised to see dad's walking in line so mommies can find their partner in a somewhat less tiring way. Because chicks are hungry and time is all that matters for them.
This is so lovely bond and family. It’s so important to have our people of our own.
March of the Penguins started my interest in these beautiful creatures, their endurance is phenomenal. ❤️
Thank you for bringing this story to everyone.
The penguin's pocket is probably the best blanket in the world. So heartwarming, ah, my heart!
It's so cute how little chick clapped his hand like saying bye bye!
Truly mesmerizing to see penguin can come up with conga line trick so the spouse can find its partner easier. I'm so invested with these penguins tale 🥰
They are the most dedicated parents in the whole wide world. ♥️♥️♥️
Idk why but penguins are just cuuuuuuuute
Yes
1:55 "Oh my goodness gracious, here she come.."
This is why I love BBC Earth. Beautiful video... The parents taking turns to care for their baby. Watching this I feel humans have comparatively easier life.
They way they "talk" resembles very fast morse code transmission. I'd love to be alive when humans finally decipher language of whales, dolphins and penguins.
'resembles fast Morse code transmission.' Can u explain what u meant
@@rgudduu It sounds like Morse code.
They are forming a queue like kindergarteners so cute
They are so beautiful, I can't stop smiling
Penguins are so smart and they work together to survive!🐧💙🐧
This is like making me cry😢 with happiness and emotions ❤️
Beautiful, the chick is adorable.
I never thought about what baby penguins sound like. Now I now incredible cute
It's amazing. These rather distant relatives are so similar in fundamental behavior to humans. Pick a mate, protect offspring, make a living to feed yourself and the offspring, support each others efforts, negotiate the weather.
They feel love just like we do 💗
They are also one of the smartest creatures on this planet.
I Love these creatures.. there's lot to learn from them coz life for them is challenging everyday.. but still they don't give up..
. *THIS IS NATURE AT ITS MOST PERFECT !!!*
3:33 The dad looks like saying good to his wife, cute 💕
Love, care, and responsibilities we have aloot to learn from Nature
Wow! The need for food plus the miserable cold... amazing dedication from these beautiful animals!
it's okay dad🥺 you did a good job taking care of the lil one. Mum's got your back❤
So many marvels in one creature. We praise You, O LORD
What a wonderful family love, these species are incredible .
I liked how the chick waved his dad for a bye😍
Awww those little baby penguin's are so cute . Bless their little hearts !!
Emperor penguins are cute when they’re born. They’re just little, fuzzy grey penguins with a cute bird chirp.
„Oh My God,So Sweet♥️The Little Chicks“🫶🐣🐧💋😘!!
Thank You BBC,For The Loving Video And Greetings Reni🙋🏼♀️🫶!!
Lol 😆 🤣 😂thier way more better than human parents. No arguing over child custody.
This melted my heart from their little walks to the cutest baby chick's to the male resting his head against his mates chest 🐧their bond is unbreakable 💜
3:56 I like to assume that the camera crew casually bolted into the scene and placed the camera in front of the chick to create that perspective shot
Speechless! Adorable documentary! xx
Always love your parents and let them feel them how much you care for them.
Magnificent documentary! Hats off to the production crew. To film this extreme cold environment is already a challenge on its own. The Emperor Penguins themselves are truly a unique God's creation.
If this can not bring tears in ur eyes
I don't know what can😢😢😢😢
The father had to say goodbye twice before he could leave his chick. Wipes tear, better than mine ever was.
This is so cute
Penguins🐧🐧🐧🐧 Look's So Adorable😍😍😍
Penguine's life in sea is always at stake. Very heart touching clip. Saying good by to its father is Remarkable and heart touching👌👌
"saying goodbye is hard" 🥺😍
They’re so cute and smart ! 🖤🤍
Absolutely amazing no wonder the mother of the saints loved these creatures so much so noble
Beautiful, listening to BBC Earth's narration. Its -4°C here, the frost brings so much joy.
I can now say I live for these videos. I watched them actually all out of ordered. And it was even cooler. I hope we get alot more of these.

Baby penguins look so cute.😘😘
When dad penguins are better dads than a lot of human dads lmao...
Wow. This was just amazing.
All of this was SO incredible! Especially when the mom gently nudge the kid up her feet and the concerned father checked it's okay
best nature in the world
The chick is saying Mama
This vid actually moved me so much it brought tears to my eyes.. These penguins have to waddle on their short feet for hundred kilometers AND survive to take care of that one baby penguin! Life itself is a miracle, and every living creature does their very best to sustain it! This makes me appreciate life so much..
Yeah, right! Now I'm off to clean my specs. Damn it, they are resilient 😮😊
