This was randomly recommended to me by the algorithm. What a treat, and I am a Steely Dan fan! Never thought this could be done as an acoustic solo version, but it sounds wonderful!
Very well done Jeff! It retains the strength of the original song through your excellent chording. Greetings from The Netherlands from an old Steely Dan fan!
Thanks. I tried to find voicings that captured what the whole band sounded like. Sometimes it was a voicing I couldn't reach, and I had to find the next best thing, but overall I"m happy with the way it came out.
I was captivated and listened ´till the end. The cord change of every 2beats is so complicated especially when singing and playing the guitar at the same time. And you play on acoustic guitar. I’m so impressed. Nice singing too.
Wow! Your voice made hairs stand on end! Superb! Your chordal work is absolutely spot on....I might be able to hit about 5% of those but fella you nailed the whole thing! Instant hit on subscribe button! Thanks for that!!! 🎸✌🏻👍
I had thought about it but didn't think it was doable. Then I was sitting in my back yard one night and I heard, from another back yard through a strip of woods, this aspiring country duo giving a streamed backyard concert. The main guitar player played the intro to Deacon Blues just messing around, and it gave me the notion that it was possible after all. Then I had to buckle down and figure out the rest of it 🙂
Great stuff man, one of my all time favourite songs. I’m going to slow that down & lean those chords no matter how long it takes. I turn 70 in 2 days so maybe the test of my life ' it’s a great challenge, thank you & rock on brother 😊 oh, and greetings from Thailand.
Thanks! I had the chords worked out on piano, just had to get close to that on guitar. A challenge for me because on guitar I'm basically a blues/rock guy.
Thanks! My channel already has Any Major Dude (on guitar) and 6 or 7 others on piano. The ones on piano are among the most recent, if they get viewed in chronological order.

@@danherring5676 Thanks again, very kind. My solo guitar postings on UA-cam are rare these days - they're mostly multi-track versions with me and/or my wife singing, or piano & vocal versions of Steely Dan songs (what else) - there are a couple hundred all in all, starting in 2020.
I never thought that this could be covered by a single guitar. but Jeff you nailed it.
I wasn't sure either until I dived into it. Thanks.
@@jeffparsons3926 Great version thx Jeff... this brother is free!
@@richardpictures7522 Glad to hear it - thanks!

Thanks, from one Steely Dan fan to another!
I listened to this today driving home from work. With my windows rolled down, it was real nice :)
Great cover!
That's a great way to listen to music - thank you!
Wow! That is impressive. To remember all them chord sequences, all the words, to reach all the high notes, keep the strumming pattern.
Wow, fabulous!
Thanks! Once it's been figured out, it's just a mater of practice until it's ready for prime time.
Beautiful! What a voice! Great cover!
How did I miss seeing this? Anyway, a belated thank you, much appreciated!
You did it sir! You made one of their most sardonic songs sound heartfelt, and I applaud you for that.
I see heartfelt emotion underneath the cynicism and archness in a lot of their songs. Glad I was able to bring that out, thank you.
Even Fagen and the late great Walter Becker couldn't fail to be impressed by this performance.
High praise indeed. Thank you.
Excellent! Jeff, you still have the voice and the Music 👏👏👍🤗
Thanks. Yeah, I'll milk it for as long as it lasts.

This is awesome! I adore the guitar arrangement and you nail the vocals. Big time kudos on this one.
Thanks! Took some work to get it under the fingers but well worth it.

I love Steely Dan. I play a LOT of Dan on solo acoustic. This is really fantastic
Hey, thanks!
YOU ARE " The King of Chords " !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great Voice Too !!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks. I heard another guitar player fooling around with the chords, and it gave me the idea that it could be done. Took a lot of practice though :-)
Hard as hell to play on guitar. Fantastic job!
Thanks!
RIGHT ON BROTHER.....NAILED IT VOCALLY AND ON THE GUITFIDDLE TOO, GREAT TALENT.
Much appreciated, thank you.
Phenomenal! I'm sure Walter would be highly impressed.
There are many folks doing a great job of covering Steely Dan out there in UA-cam land, but thanks for the compliment, it means a lot.
