QOTSA being the tightest band ever for 10 minutes...

- Well, I guess that video did hit 10k, cool; In here are some more obscure songs that are very hard to play (at least on keys) Enjoy the video, maybe another Qotsa related video will drop soon...
If you have revisited this or are new to it, director's commentary will be release as well as another Qotsa video. No set date though.
Holy cow you guys, I go to sleep with 60 views and wake up to over 600 views in 8 hours?! That’s insane! Tell me what you want to see next.
Maaannn, you should listen All Them Witches and do a video for them. Greatest active rock band, imo
Any band being the tightest band
Pretty much the same thing for them crooked vultures! Great vid dude :)
You seem to have defeated the algorithm!
Green day
imagine being lucky enough to catch these guys on the songs for the deaf tour when they had mark lanegan and dave grohl in the band...not a single face in the crowd left intact
I did
Same, so awesome.. still chasing that high.
May I add even the shows when Joey was on the kit were great. Those poor drum sets would take such a beating
One of the greatest privileges of my life
I did too, but in Europe, so with Mark, but without Dave. Still the first one and the best performance.
One of those bands that makes you want to form a band
True story
Oh God not again
@ when will it ever stop?
Each member is a perfectionist. He hired pure killers.
The riffs that Josh can play while singing.. he's otherworldly.
saw him when playing with Kyuss and loved what he did since ever more
Just practice. Tap foot to the rythm and you'll understand where it all fits in.
@@faramund9865 that doesn't make it any less impressive. Of course he had to practice to do difficult things lmao, every musician does.
Don’t get me wrong, I much much prefer Josh as an artist but if you think this is good go listen to some necrophagist lol
@@Brentqvaleenjoyer lol awww Necrophagist RIP 🪦.
FOUL BODY. AU! TOP! SY! Glad I got to catch them live once.
Quite possibly one of the last truly legendary rock bands.
Tenacious D's still kicking names and taking ass! There are some up and coming bands with potential too, I think rock's gonna make a comeback soon
@@seandpizzlelol I love Tenacious D but they don’t belong in the same category as QOTSA
I took my girl to see them for her first rock concert a couple months back and she left literally speechless. They are so beyond “in the pocket” it’s unreal.

Era Vulgaris is the name of their album, but are you sure it’s a song too? The song they play at 4:59 is the only one on this video I’ve never heard and I thought I’d heard every QOTSA song out there.
@@adamyoung7999 nah fam, era vulgaris is also a song, but it's not included in the album because they made a single for a winner of a contest or something like that, look it up, it's a good ass song

@@johnypajaslocas4993 just did and you weren’t kidding, badass track. Interesting that the chorus is the melody of that weird synth line at the end of Make it Wit Chu. Always wondered what the hell was up with that lol
Only thing missing is Misfit Love, from The Henry Rollins Show. Possibly the best I've ever seen them together.
never forget seeing them during the era vulgaris tour and just being astounded by how tight they were without feeling rigid. all-time best live bands hands down
I prefer Mystery, these guys are are incredibly tight: ua-cam.com/video/7k58q9XQeNk/v-deo.html
Yeah, I so wish I'd seen them on that tour. I went twice for Lullabyes tour and once for Villains. That's it so far. Headlining in Hartford was my first and best time seeing them. Lanegan was even there!
That’s what happens when each member of the band would be the best musician in any other band if they left. they’re all killers.
Joey….
I saw them near the end of the EV tour. They played every song 20% too fast, but they were tight. Lotta coke flying around, I heard.
R.I.P. MARK LANEGAN...LOVE YA, QOTSA...
❤️
Seen this band like 10 times. They age like fine wine. 1 of the best live bands.
QOTSA was a great transition for me growing up in the late 90s/early 2000s as a grunge fan. Still got that genuine dirty don't give a fuck rock sound but the musicianship was still stellar. Josh Homme is so underrated.
I've always considered QOTSA post-grunge pioneers. The guitar especially, but they lace that dusty/desert sound into it so well. One of a kind!
Josh is in no way underrated.
Well said. I’m 23 so I’m always going backward in time to fine rock bands. Grew up hearing classic rock and I really gravitated to grunge. And then I stumbled upon QOTSA one day and it really felt like something that was made for me that I could call my music. Queens occupies a space in rock that not many others can (Kyuss is a part of that obviously). Heavy, eerie, psychedelic but tight. And a perfect balance of artsy but not too up their own ass to let loose. Really hoping for another album soon. I’ve only known about them since about 2013 so I go through entire phases of my life before they put out new projects lol.
Fun fact: qotsa has a direct tie to grunge. Qotsa was born after the Screaming Trees broke up and Josh started working with a bunch of people from that scene. In that time he collaborated with Ben Shepherd from Soundgarden on Desert Sessions and wellwater conspiracy, which is a band with Matt Cameron. Matt also plays drums on their original demos and played drums for the first qotsa live set.
Same, my buddy got the songs for the deaf CD when it was brand new and we listening to it in his car, I would’ve been about 16 or 17 something like that. I’m 38 now I dunno I suck at math. but this shit blew me away. Felt like they picked up the torch from Nirvana, White Zombie, Soundgarden etc etc after some of those bands either literally died or went softer route. Early smashing Pumpkins too
QOTSA is unique. The band of my life.
I really hope to hear a new record soon. Thank you for this!
I share your words!!
They def got the goods.
I loved Kyuss
Don't know if Homme could solve his divorce issues in the best terms...
I'd give a kidney for a new "Them Crooked Vultures" album.
Making us all forgot it's been almost 5 years since Villains came out.
That’s so incredibly hard to believe… time flies
Villains was bad
@@jacksonvega7751 Good bad, or bad bad?
@@bmmaaate I would say it’s a mix of both. Some songs are pretty decent while others just feel a bit lackluster.
@@thearcher3726 I only played it once so I can't really comment. I've listened to the first album more than any other album I own though.
We are fortunate to have an active, straight ahead rock unit like QOTSA in this era of music. Precision, virtuosity, melody, and a near angelic vocal...all killer, no filler keeping the torch lit! ❤🔥 ...ty for editing and sharing!
Joey Castillo plays a major part on the raw spirit of QotSA, he sped up tempo because he was pure feeling and rage. Perfect fit.
The last half of I Appear Missing is some of the best music I've heard. Their performance on Kimmel or Fallan (some American talk show anyway) is unbelievable.
The live version of that song is the best song they’ve ever made, truly fuckin glorious.
Hey SSB: it waS Letterman. Cheers.
I like it way more than the studio version! Kinda like Radiohead’s Go to sleep performance on Jools Holland was easily better than in studio
Just shows how much of a beast Joey Castillo is. I still believe the Lullabies to Paralyze touring lineup was the strongest.
That was a killer line up.
Saw them at Boston Calling back in 2018, and then again this past Sunday! Still so so so unbelievably great. Ended both sets with Song for the Dead and the pit was 10/10
I have seen QOTSA 3 times. Songs for the Deaf, Era Vulgaris and Villians when it first launched with Royal Blood in Philly a few years ago. That show was fucking epic. They are one of the tightest and most underrated band out there. The energy they emit is absolutely phenomenal. I can't wait to hear what they do next.
I was lucky and caught them doing their self titled album in Glasgow in a more intimate venue than normal.
The raw energy from that night has powered my life since. I've chased that high a lot and in terms of pure energy they are undisputed.
Truly a band you need to experience.
Old Carling Academy?
That was my first Qotsa concert. Close to the left of stage. My ears were ringing for weeks 😂 Brilliant!!
People never talk about QOTSA's drummer, but the dude is crushing it
Probably because they had a few drummers throughout the career? They've all crushed it though.
Joey castillo truly a great one though.
Joey Castillo was the best one they had for sure
Joey was power tripping. Crushing those drums.
Which one?
Bro, you forget the time they played "you can't quit me baby" during half an hour with capoeira performers in Brasil. One of those greatest and underrated moments in rock history (well maybe just in the history of the band)
Video?
@@hexywesky they've even been booed and didn't give a shit ua-cam.com/video/7tE3p-LGQrs/v-deo.html
You can't quit me Baby live at Pinkpop 2008 is perfect too
When I leave this world, I want “Better Living Through Chemistry” Live version at Buenos Aires 2014 to be played in a loop. Hands down, have listened to that version was one of the best experiences in my entire life
Luna park, tremendo show
This performance of the Era Vulgaris title track is INSANE
i love how in live sessions they play at a much much higher BPM than the studio version
They sound almost studio-quality. I gotta start listening to this band.
QOTSA and Them Crooked Vultures. Amazing
@@ronsissons_drums Agreed. Both amazing.
@@ronsissons_drums 100 percent, without a doubt
Go through Kyuss first
@@flo5771 honestly depends on your musical background imo. i probably wouldn't have been ready for kyuss without getting into QOTSA, that was my route into stoner rock. i probably wouldn't have appreciated Kyuss as much as i did otherwise
Kyuss were amazing. Saw them a few times in early 90’s. Just mind blowing. 😄
Era Vulgaris is a rare beauty for sure!! I was fortunate enough to be at the Murat in Indianapolis back in 07 and hear it live for the 1st time ever 🤘🤘🤘
The whole album has aged beautifully. It’s classic IMO
From Indy. Murat is a great venue to see bands like this.
still dont know how josh can play and sing 3s & 7s at the same time
Genius.
Half the shit he plays and sings is miraculous. Absolutely top shelf.
He explained it, tap foot so you realize which notes come where. After that, practice. Start slow...
I've seen them twice, but not with Dave on drums. I did, however, see Them Crooked Vultures (Homme, Grohl, and John Paul Jones) live. One of the - if not THE - best shows I've ever seen. It was sublime!
Sublime did great too!
If i don't played Need For Speed Underground 2 maybe i never know Queens Of The Stone Age, that band is unique and i just love all the lineups but in special: Josh, Nick, Gene, Mark and Brandon era (2000-2001) and Josh, Troy, Joey, Alain and Natasha era (2005).
Maaaaan those 2 are my favourite ones too 💙 Joey and Gene the best ones they had
Man I listened to in my head a million times playing that game, definitely helped strengthen my love for QOTSA. NFS underground 2 is fuckin legendary.
It’s all about having fucking amazing drummers doing their shit and that’s it
Even if its a pedo (grohl)
They're a very rhythmic band for sure ❤
Drummer by far most important part of the band and I’m a guitarist
Yup
@@justindupuis4383 an excellent drummer can't cover for a shit string section... but they do make even simpler instrumentation sound better. But hey what do I know. I've played in front of bad drummers and good drummers the only difference tween a bad one and a good one is how well they listen and pay attention and whether or not they practice their instrument.
Goddamn I NEED THEM BACK!! Fanaticism aside, in the top 3 best rock bands in the world in the last 20 something years!! Hope Josh situation gets sorted soon and be back for more astonishing music
what happened to josh?
I'll take The Distillers reunions instead.
This is literally the embodiment of the kind of band i want to be in! Ive been playing and touring with bands for 15 years and i would give anything to just get into a band where we can lock into a groove and ride that motherfucker until the sun comes up!
that’s what started our project
Crazy that the lineup of people is also like all different and always so tight!
That's it. I NEED to see them live.
I miss Joey Castillo on the drums.
Man was a killing machine.
That is a very nice collection.
Thanks for pulling it together.
So badass! My absolute favorite band... All time!
That drummer is a beast! Miss him on the lineup
Joey Castillo is an absolute beast on blood is love 🤯

I remember seeing them live. I've seen many bands live, Slayer, Tool, etc. QOTSA was the loudest band I've heard live. But they were really good.
I've seen TOOL and QOTSA...both put on a great show...I've seen TOOL twice...but QOTSA only once...I would really like to see QOTSA again...the loudest shows I've seen would have to be NIN and believe it or not...the White Stripes...

I've never seen anything like them, in the sense of how crazy it is that they're a 2-piece band, that somehow had more depth to their sound than most 4-piece bands.
Jack White was/is a genius.
Really hope they come out with a new album soon. It's going on 5 years. It's time.
It’s been way too long. I’m 23, always heard them growing up but they didn’t really hit my radar until I was around 14. So the only albums I’ve been aware of when they came out were Like Clockwork and Villains. They’re my favorite band and I go through entire phases of my life before they put out new albums haha. Hopefully soon but it’s looking rough with the lawsuit and all that
Mickey Shoes seems to have something to be released solo. So, I wouldn't hold my breath for more Queens at least for a year, assuming he tours or something. I do hope I'm wrong tho
@@Wolfir05 Mike is in Europe now doing shows, but I guess that doesn't have to mean Queens can't write/record. I'm seeing Mikey live this month - I'll try and ask him about QotSA plans!

Troy that time on 3s and 7s in 2010, And that infamous 2001 show.
@Moose Tracks they demolished in Dublin, not sure if you just got one of the bad ones. Though I'll admit Theodore is occasionally a bad fit for some of their older tracks

Consummate professional musicians. Their instruments are extensions of their bodies.
I caught the Deaf tour and haven’t stopped listening since!
Shit, they've been the tightest band for 25 years man
Saw them live for the first time at Lollapalooza in 2006, it was amazing
They are really good no doubt about that. If the Foo's are actually done and over... I think I might push QOTSA up to #1 position of best overall Rock Band (that is currently still rocking)
Man Queens would dare I say rape Foo's live and on record with both hands tied behind their backs. I've seen them both live through many years, I saw Foo's on their very first tour at 328 in Nashville and that was their best show, they have progressively gotten worse and mainstream. I first saw Queens in SFTD tour and 9 times since and they have progressively gotten better. It's not even a contest.
Foo fighters lol, come on man. They are a butt rock band
@@sdrebels13 And not even decent butt rock lol, Ghrol's a pretty good drummer but that's about it, if a band gets pushed so hard on radio, tv, ect. constantly but never brings the goods there's a reason. He was the drummer for Nirvana almost 30 years ago, folks have gotten over it, I did...30 years ago.
@@dillinguuur79 yeah I like his drumming too, but I can’t stand how he’s arbitrarily been anointed as the spokesman of rock music lol. Who made that decision? He’s more cringe than he is cool, but the industry pushed the hell out of him

I dated a bimbo who's best friend is a big time engineer. He worked with the band
After a Queens show in the city 80 minutes away, they came and partied at his mansion. She told me this 2 days _later_ because she didn't think to ask me if I wanted to go since 'I knew you liked the band but didn't think you'd want to go to that party'. smFh.
Then I find out 2 weeks later she worships Keith Urban! Broke up with her 2 weeks later.
That's... A weird thing to call a woman
Yeah, not the right scene to find a partner in. Just women who completely lost it.
Saw them open for NIN on the With Teeth tour in Philly. They were tight AF! Such a great band
Impeccable Editing!
Add the whole of Misfit Love on Henry Rollins Show to the end, update title to "16 minutes" and this is complete.
They are up there, impressive. But Quicksand and Helmet still rule in the tightness arena, IMHO.
I love they're new album. Also the VULTURES .
I saw Joey Castillo twice with The Bronx and he is the catalyst of locking in.
That Blood is Love moment is terrifying
