Glad I found your videos! I’m pretty much in exactly your position. I very recently bought my first espresso machine, a Lelit Anna 2. I bought all the little things (WDT, spring tamper, tiny spray bottle/bean weighing container, etc), and have gotten my espresso decently repeatable. I’m likewise learning/struggling with milk steaming and latte art! I prefer straight espresso, but I’m learning for my wife’s sake. It seems the Gaggia might have a little more steam power. Anyway, I don’t have any advice for you, since steaming is difficult and I think you’re probably a little farther along. I wish I drank lattes, because I have no idea when I’m done whether it’s good or not! The ratio of milk to coffee seems pretty important. I would suggest getting a cooking thermometer to help you tell when your milk is hot enough. Anyway, I appreciate your struggles. Keep it up! It encourages me to do the same.
Thank you so much for your comment ! Appreciate you taking the time to write it ! I would say i am a little bit the opposite, i loove milk based coffee drinks, i wasn't that big of a fan of straight espresso. I would say i am starting to like it more and more. I thought about the thermometer for the milk, but i don't know, i'll see, if i am really not satisfied with my milk steaming long term i will consider it :) Again thanks for the comment, appreciate having you along for the journey
Last thing, I’m stuck with a “14-18g” IMS basket at present, but with a puck screen, 15g is pretty much the most I can use. I’m still waiting on my Bookoo scale to arrive, so I’m eyeballing my shots. They’re coming out well at present, but it’s probably luck! I do see quite a bit of channeling on this shot. I would suggest at the end of your WDT process, to lightly swirl around the whole surface of the portafilter (at surface to about 1/2 depth), to end up with the surface as smooth and even as possible.
I'm still trying to learn the exact movements to do with the wdt, also my wdt is not awesome, looking to upgrade or maybe i'll diy one. Thanks again for your feedback and advice :)
I am a newbie and my no means can give anyone advice. But i do find that getting a rounded, wider cup helps a lot with the pour. And maybe don't let that milk sit for too long. I find that the window of opportunity is really short.
Hello there ! Thanks for your feedback. I have leart that it does help to use a rounded wide cup, i've got some, but when i am moving around in the house, a more narrow and "tall" cup is more comfy. But i do use a different cup each time, to get the latte art on all of them :) It is indeed a problem for me, i take too long to pour the milk into the espresso, i am trying to be faster there. Thank again !
I am a double shot guy mostly, my dose depending on the roast level is between 17 for darker and 18 for lighter roast. Though I feel it’s a bit much and would like a 15 grams basket but not in the mood to order one as I’d just waste the one I have. Another thing i’d like is if it came with a single shot as well, to perhaps make a ristretto from time to time, not feeling that happy to water 18 grams just for a sip. Hope I make sense 😂
As i went from 15gr basket to 18gr i thought i would have to make several shots before getting a good one. But i was wrong i got a pretty good one in 1 shot. But yeah usually i do the extraction directly in the cup i drink from 😊

The MhW basket is one of my favorites ☕️👍😎
Hi there, appreciate the comment! I like this basket very much :)

Yeah i get you !
Do you at least have a double spouted portafilter? To get 2 single shots ouf of an 18 gr coffee?
Anyways thanks for your comment :)
@ i do, but don’t have another drinker to enjoy it 😂. So until I get my hands on a single shot, i’ll stick to my 17-18 grams shot.
Hope you get the single shot one soon, or at least another drinker ;)
But how did it *taste*?
Do you live in Hungary?
Oh nevermind I just spotted the pilos tej. AVX is a great store tho 👌🏼
Close but no 😅. I live in Romania 😊
Why don't you extract into the cup you are going to be drinking from?
