I am Bengali and I don't know Hindi. Often the Bihari people of my place criticise me for this even calling me illiterate. Someone even hit me for knowing English and a little of Japanese but not Hindi (ofcourse he was jealous of me). Plus a lot of central governed schools priorities Hindi over english (which is alien for our school) Hindi speakers go mess with your own stupid language and stop promoting it among us!

I am from Tamil Nadu, I have listed few details how imposition of Hindi will affect Tamil, this is applicable for other regional language. Below I have provided explanation as to why the claim that Hindi is good for future survival of tamil culture and prosperity is a false propaganda by the Hindi belt politicians. Their agenda is to strength their political base in the south by imposing their language. In doing so, they will have a political future in the southern states at the expense of regional parties. Already we are losing the use of our language in several fields due to English, with Hindi there will not be any requirement of Tamil in the future. Let us imagine Tamil language is in a coffin. I will list the nails that has been slowly added to that coffin since the British and Indian independence. 1. Children who study in English medium schools, science, geography, physics, chemistry, history, maths, biology, engineering all are taught in English. English being the world language it is good for our future survival. People who take tamil as secondary language in english medium, will be able to read and write tamil at basic level. They’ll not be creators in tamil as their language of thinking would be English. Their knowledge creation would only be in English. These people live in the cities who jump from one city to another for their economic prosperity and survival. 2. Children who study in tamil medium will have English as their secondary language and will be able to read/write English at basic level. These children live in secondary cities and villages. They find it difficult to pursue higher studies in science, geography, physics, chemistry, history, maths, biology in English when they join colleges. Forced to create new knowledge in English. To fix this the number of children in English medium in secondary cities and villages has increased in the last 50 years. With this increase, tamil in future will not be required to explain science, geography, physics, chemistry, history, maths, biology and would only be used for communication, basic reading and writing. If Hindi is going to be introduced, we don’t need tamil for communication, everyone would prefer Hindi after 3-5 generations. 3. In our society, Tamil is currently being used in religion, entertainment and literature (This will fade) with the growth of English and Hindi. Tamil literature will slowly decline as the number of reader move to English and Hindi. If there is no market for tamil literature there will no longer be any creative writing in it. Only copying and translation in the future. 4. No knowledge creation in tamil (i.e. scientific, technical paper, journal) in the following field science, geography, physics, chemistry, history, maths, biology, engineering. All scientific paper has to be published in English. Reference to knowledge is only available in English. 5. Administration will slowly move towards English/hindi. 6. High court in Tamil Nadu cannot use tamil language to interpret the law and provide judgement. Only English/hindi. Tamil vocabulary will not grow in this field of law. The requirement of tamil language has been reduced to the following field Communication, religion, entertainment and literature. This will also die in another few generation and would be replaced by other language English/Hindi. Tamil requirement in science, technology, business and law field has been slowly eroded because there is an easy replacement (i.e. english). The question is do we accept that status quo. If we accept it and continue then slowly the tamil language will loose it significance as it’s vocabulary will not grow in the above field and because of that their will not be any new literature and knowledge in tamil language in the coming generation. So it will be avoided by the coming generation for their survival. BJP/RSS peoples are spreading false message through news channel regarding the benefits of learning Hindi, when there is none. I agree the state politicians for their selfish gain has given away the state rights, which is hurting the public. Why should we burden our son/daughter to learn additional language in their childhood when its benefits are minimal in the future, it would be required only for socialising and entertainment. When we are paying taxes to the central government what has the central government done to promote the regional language so its usage can be strengthen in various fields. In high courts we can't use our language for arguments and judgement. There is a hidden agenda to reduce the use of regional language as official language so that usage of Hindi/English becomes the main language in trade, education, business and administration.
Northeast have lost their mother tongue as the government refused to recognize their mother tongue as langauge to supplant Hindi. Same in Sikkim where the original people of Sikkim - Lephchas and next Bhutias language are not recognized while migrant Nepali dominate due to the British population transfer (Nepali to Sikkim).

We really need a south party who can form a gov in central. Also the law that allows to have number of seats based on population in a state must be removed. Only when south is United we can protect our identity and rights or else those who resist them will be treated as second class citizen and will be made to taxes for their evergrowing population. I agree with Garga that Hindi shouldn’t be implemented in the country but he is blatantly racist when he says that: 1. Hindi is useful for Marwari and Gujarati businessmen to link cow belt people (how will he feel if someone starts calling Bengalis as Machhi (fish) belt 2. Urdu hasn’t been given its due share as Urdu is being eaten by Hindi in its own homeland (UP Bihar Delhi Etc.) in addition to the onslaught of people who call Urdu as islamic and not suitable as per Indian ethics 3. If India wants to benefit from this debate, they should have each state compete to build the best infrastructure and education system (15 year period). The winning states language becomes taught in every state of India (but of course each state keeps regional language also). English should be optional 3rd language for most Indians. Otherwise, your culture will become diluted by alien Western European culture more and more... Christians will get more than Hindu.
I have a simple argument that if most of the people speak Hindi in India, then why this language can't be our national language. Different languages create a sense of inequality among the people. If, as a bihari I go to Chennai, then I will have to face a very big language barrier. It s totally sure that only a few person would know Hindi language, then I will have to face many difficulties and if all the people knew hindi, then there would be no problem and I would not have to face any language barrier.I don't mean that we must only speak Hindi but we should know Hindi as a second or third language.

I am Bengali and I don't know Hindi. Often the Bihari people of my place criticise me for this even calling me illiterate. Someone even hit me for knowing English and a little of Japanese but not Hindi (ofcourse he was jealous of me). I am from Tamil Nadu, I have listed few details how imposition of Hindi will affect Tamil, this is applicable for other regional language.
Below I have provided explanation as to why the claim that Hindi is good for future survival of tamil culture and prosperity is a false propaganda by the Hindi belt politicians. Their agenda is to strength their political base in the south by imposing their language. In doing so, they will have a political future in the southern states at the expense of regional parties. Already we are losing the use of our language in several fields due to English, with Hindi there will not be any requirement of Tamil in the future.
Let us imagine Tamil language is in a coffin. I will list the nails that has been slowly added to that coffin since the British and Indian independence.
1. Children who study in English medium schools, science, geography, physics, chemistry, history, maths, biology, engineering all are taught in English. English being the world language it is good for our future survival. People who take tamil as secondary language in english medium, will be able to read and write tamil at basic level. They’ll not be creators in tamil as their language of thinking would be English. Their knowledge creation would only be in English. These people live in the cities who jump from one city to another for their economic prosperity and survival.
2. Children who study in tamil medium will have English as their secondary language and will be able to read/write English at basic level. These children live in secondary cities and villages. They find it difficult to pursue higher studies in science, geography, physics, chemistry, history, maths, biology in English when they join colleges. Forced to create new knowledge in English. To fix this the number of children in English medium in secondary cities and villages has increased in the last 50 years. With this increase, tamil in future will not be required to explain science, geography, physics, chemistry, history, maths, biology and would only be used for communication, basic reading and writing. If Hindi is going to be introduced, we don’t need tamil for communication, everyone would prefer Hindi after 3-5 generations.
3. In our society, Tamil is currently being used in religion, entertainment and literature (This will fade) with the growth of English and Hindi. Tamil literature will slowly decline as the number of reader move to English and Hindi. If there is no market for tamil literature there will no longer be any creative writing in it. Only copying and translation in the future.
4. No knowledge creation in tamil (i.e. scientific, technical paper, journal) in the following field science, geography, physics, chemistry, history, maths, biology, engineering. All scientific paper has to be published in English. Reference to knowledge is only available in English.
5. Administration will slowly move towards English/hindi.
6. High court in Tamil Nadu cannot use tamil language to interpret the law and provide judgement. Only English/hindi. Tamil vocabulary will not grow in this field of law.
The requirement of tamil language has been reduced to the following field
Communication, religion, entertainment and literature. This will also die in another few generation and would be replaced by other language English/Hindi.
Tamil requirement in science, technology, business and law field has been slowly eroded because there is an easy replacement (i.e. english). The question is do we accept that status quo. If we accept it and continue then slowly the tamil language will loose it significance as it’s vocabulary will not grow in the above field and because of that their will not be any new literature and knowledge in tamil language in the coming generation. So it will be avoided by the coming generation for their survival. BJP/RSS peoples are spreading false message through news channel regarding the benefits of learning Hindi, when there is none. I agree the state politicians for their selfish gain has given away the state rights, which is hurting the public. Why should we burden our son/daughter to learn additional language in their childhood when its benefits are minimal in the future, it would be required only for socialising and entertainment.
When we are paying taxes to the central government what has the central government done to promote the regional language so its usage can be strengthen in various fields. In high courts we can't use our language for arguments and judgement. There is a hidden agenda to reduce the use of regional language as official language so that usage of Hindi/English becomes the main language in trade, education, business and administration.
Northeast have lost their mother tongue as the government refused to recognize their mother tongue as langauge to supplant Hindi. Same in Sikkim where the original people of Sikkim - Lephchas and next Bhutias language are not recognized while migrant Nepali dominate due to the British population transfer (Nepali to Sikkim).

We really need a south party who can form a gov in central. Also the law that allows to have number of seats based on population in a state must be removed. I am a south Indian from karnataka, most South indians like Hindi but don't want hindi to be national language of India as it hives other languages of India inferior status. For communication we can use English or create a new language which is not the native language of any Indian

I agree with Garga that Hindi shouldn’t be implemented in the country but he is blatantly racist when he says that:
1. Hindi is useful for Marwari and Gujarati businessmen to link cow belt people (how will he feel if someone starts calling Bengalis as Machhi (fish) belt
2. Urdu hasn’t been given its due share as Urdu is being eaten by Hindi in its own homeland (UP Bihar Delhi Etc.) in addition to the onslaught of people who call Urdu as islamic and not suitable as per Indian ethics
3. Hindi belt plays a very important role in economic generation of many non hindi states as they send their products to West Bengal and other port states for exports. And if Hindi belt isn’t producing any revenue then even Bengal is just a former shadow of its past, Calcutta is no longer an important city as it was before independence , Delhi is generating more revenue then Kolkata , West Bengal ya a lost revenue in past 3-4 decades to other states hence garga has no right to attack others

If India wants to benefit from this debate, they should have each state compete to build the best infrastructure and education system (15 year period). The winning states language becomes taught in every state of India (but of course each state keeps regional language also). English should be optional 3rd language for most Indians. Otherwise, your culture will become diluted by alien Western European culture more and more... Christians will get more than Hindu.

I have a simple argument that if most of the people speak Hindi in India, then why this language can't be our national language. Different languages create a sense of inequality among the people. If, as a bihari I go to Chennai, then I will have to face a very big language barrier. It s totally sure that only a few person would know Hindi language, then I will have to face many difficulties and if all the people knew hindi, then there would be no problem and I would not have to face any language barrier.I don't mean that we must only speak Hindi but we should know Hindi as a second or third language.
