Never done Pearl Jam, holy shit dude I can't believe it. They're one of my favorite bands from back in the early 90's. Some of Eddie Vedders other stuff is great too. I really like the soundtrack he did for the movie "Into the wild". It's funny you mention Chris Cornell as they have worked together heaps back in the day, and as far as I understand were really good friends.
My favourite song of all time...best version of this song played in Adelaide, South Australia...it was EPIC. I was there and it was amazing...you can find it on UA-cam music
Sheets of empty canvas Untouched sheets of clay Were laid spread out before me As her body once did All five horizons Revolved around her soul As the earth to the sun Now the air I tasted and breathed Has taken a turn Oh and all I taught her was everything Oh I know she gave me all that she wore And now my bitter hands Chafe beneath the clouds Of what was everything Oh the pictures have All been washed in black Tattooed everything I take a walk outside I'm surrounded by Some kids at play I can feel their laughter So why do I sear Oh, and twisted thoughts that spin Round my head I'm spinning Oh, I'm spinning How quick the sun can, drop away And now my bitter hands Cradle broken glass Of what was everything All the pictures have All been washed in black Tattooed everything All the love gone bad Turned my world to black Tattooed all I see All that I am All that I'll be, yeah Uh huh, uh huh, oh I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a star In somebody else's sky But why Why Why can't it be Oh can't it be mine
Eddie Vedder is a huge Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson fan. Listen to this again knowing that and you'll hear the MJ influence. Best live band I have ever seen and I've seen a lot. Pearl Jam has announced two European tour dates for next year. Fans are waiting for further news on that but more excited to see what the new album holds. Thank you for the review. Appreciate that you know what you are talking about. P.S. PJ has jumped all over the map from blues to punk to just plain weird sometimes. There's a ton of diverse music to dig into. "Do the Evolution" came later and it's a masterpiece. Just one example...
They came up in 90’s grunge music era. Very very good band, RR Hall of Fame, tons of excellent songs. None of their songs are superficial….. almost always a deep meaning story or feeling, nothing superficial about their music at all! Be prepared to think and reflect whenever you really listen to a Pearl Jam song!!!
Chris Cornell/Soundgarden were before Pearl Jam. Pearl Jam is the remnants of Mother Love Bone after the death of their singer. They found Eddie Vedder (singer here) and became Pearl Jam. Incidentally, Eddie and Chris sang together with members of Mother Love Bone on an album that was a tribute to their deceased singer (who was also Chris's roommate and friend). The album and project was Temple of the Dog. Chris Cornell sang, and Eddie Vedder (this singer) joined them on a song called Hunger Strike. Shortly thereafter the band with Eddie as their singer became Pearl Jam and Chris Cornell continued with his band Soundgarden.
Been waiting for you to do this one, Eddie Vedder is a legend, he actually sings Black as a tribute to Chris Cornell live and acoustic. Never wept so much 😢
GREAT reaction. Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell were like brothers. In one of Eddie's performances of this song he was crying because Chris had just died. Eddie sang "come back" a few times and I think he was singing that to Chris.

Some other amazing Seattle bands are Candelbox formed in 1991, Screaming Trees in 1985, Mudhoney in 1988, Mother Love Bone in 1987, and 2 Super Groups Temple of the Dog 1990 was a tribute band formed by Chris Cornell, and Eddie Vedder, for lead singer Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone who died of a drug overdose in 1990 at the age of 24, also Mad Season Layne Stanley's side project formed in 1994. That is just a few, I know all this cause I live in Seattle and have for the last 40 years. You've Welcome... RIP Chris, Andrew, Mike, Layne, and Kurt, I hope you all said Hello to Heaven....
This is the performance that got me hooked on Pearl Jam. I'm 36 and never listened to them growing up at all because i was about 6-8 years old at the height of their popularity. This performance is unreal how good it is and I now listen to them alll the time.
This was an absolutely stellar, legendary performance that will go down in music history, and I was there; one of the best experiences in my entire life, now here at 61. I don't know how I survived those dark insane days but here I am.
Stoked that you enjoyed that so much! Pearl Jam hits me in the happy space. Big fan of their sound and music. You should check the song Jeremy out! It's a solid song with a very deep message behind it.
Take care, bud!
Iconic is an understatement ❤️.
MY BAND! PEARL JAM!!!!! FANTASTIC! MORE PLEASE!
Eddie's one of the greats!! Check out Pearl Jam 'Release' live from Holland. So Sick!! Peace from New Zealand
Greatest grunge band of all time. Really glad you enjoyed Pearl Jam. Eddie Vedder is a brilliant singer. Definitely recommend checking out Alive when you get a chance, brilliant song and lyrics. 👍👍
Can't believe no ones requested the song Porch at PinkPop 92. They are definitely rocking there.
yeah, so hands down , you got the best reaction videos by far , you're smart , honest and your knowledge of music gives a refreshing perspective , keep up the good twerk playa ! 👊 WU-TANG!
Yeah! Loved that you watched this. Dont worry, theyre all still alive and kicking - after you mentioned Chris Cornell I just knew people wold reccommend HUNGER STRIKE - pleeeeeeeease watch that one :)
I enjoy watching reactions with someone who actually understands what a singer is doing vocally.
This version is beautiful. Eddie Vedder's voice and these words are ethereal. Thank you♥️🎶✝️
Great reaction man. Eddie has so much soul in his voice. So much heart. He lives his songs which is something a very kind of special. 👍👍
" I don't know how many cigarettes he had to have to get that voice. But keep it up!" haha classic!
My favourite band 😍 🇦🇺 This performance is amazing and they are just as amazing Live if not better! Saw them in Brisbane Australia back in 1995.
I'm glad you liked it! They're one of my all time favorites 💜
They still perform! ♥️ Thank you for sharing your time with us. ☮️
Been my favourite band since 'Ten' was first released... Seen them in concert many times and despite Eddie's rasp on his songs, he hasn't lost anything. To me, this song also has my all-time favourite lyric line..."I know some day you'll have...."
Love this, brother. They all made it through to the other side, with no tragedy.
They are awesome live!!!
Your reaction to this was beautiful my friend, it is sooooo moving to me that you "Get it", warms my musical heart brother
Your reaction to this has made my day. This is one of my top 3 songs - this performance is flawless.
Just subscribed my friend - you have an infectious personality.
This was unplugged so way more mellow than normal. Eddie has one of the best vocals ever. Love him
Such a great performance. So good beautiful.
Omg omg omg. Eddie Vedder + Chris Cornell = TEMPLE OF THE DOG. I was 13 and it was My first time seeing Eddie Vedder ...
I know I'm a year late to this reaction... but your excitement and everything I really enjoyed!!! Much love❤❤❤
My favourite song of all time...best version of this song played in Adelaide, South Australia...it was EPIC. I was there and it was amazing...you can find it on UA-cam music
Sheets of empty canvas
Untouched sheets of clay
Were laid spread out before me
As her body once did
All five horizons
Revolved around her soul
As the earth to the sun
Now the air I tasted and breathed
Has taken a turn
Oh and all I taught her was everything
Oh I know she gave me all that she wore
And now my bitter hands
Chafe beneath the clouds
Of what was everything
Oh the pictures have
All been washed in black
Tattooed everything
I take a walk outside
I'm surrounded by
Some kids at play
I can feel their laughter
So why do I sear
Oh, and twisted thoughts that spin
Round my head
I'm spinning
Oh, I'm spinning
How quick the sun can, drop away
And now my bitter hands
Cradle broken glass
Of what was everything
All the pictures have
All been washed in black
Tattooed everything
All the love gone bad
Turned my world to black
Tattooed all I see
All that I am
All that I'll be, yeah
Uh huh, uh huh, oh
I know someday you'll have a beautiful life
I know you'll be a star
In somebody else's sky
But why
Why
Why can't it be
Oh can't it be mine
Nice how he can jump into falsetto effortlessly.
love this voice
Got a damn splitting headache right now but saw Black, Pearl jam and now I'm blowing my head off listening but can't resist THAT voice. 😭😍
Oceans by PJ unplugged! You will LOVE the vocals! Great reactions.
You sir earned my subscription. Enjoyed it
Great reaction. Perl Jam and Chris Cornels first band sound Gradian formed a band called Temple Of The Dog. CHECK THEM OUT!
I'm enjoying this reaction dude.
❤Pearl Jam👍🤠✌🇦🇺
Fantastic reaction video bud.
He's singing from his heart
Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder(Pearl Jam lead singer) formed a group called Temple of The Dog with a big hit "Hunger Strike" that you need to hear!🎵🎶🎸
I love the warble in his voice
Definitely check out Hunger Strike!!!
You can't go wrong with any song from their Unplugged show. I recommend "Jeremy" also from Unplugged and "Porch" from Pink Pop 92.
Been waiting for you to do this one, Eddie Vedder is a legend, he actually sings Black as a tribute to Chris Cornell live and acoustic. Never wept so much 😢
Great reaction!!!
GREAT reaction. Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell were like brothers. In one of Eddie's performances of this song he was crying because Chris had just died. Eddie sang "come back" a few times and I think he was singing that to Chris.
One of my most favourite live performances
