YEEEES. One of the best vocal performances of all time. He could do it all man. He has excellent solo records, plus Soundgarden, plus Temple of the Dog, plus Audioslave. I mean damn.
I was a dirty kid with high ideals and perspective of other cultures and other lives. At 19 in 1990 he was my brother who understood me and I would fall asleep to him learning life together. They taught your voice, standing up for love and kindness , difference and being yourself.
This is by far my favorite live performance of his. He was just beyond amazing. His voice exudes both pain and beauty. No one sings like you anymore. Thank you thank you thank you for doing this video.
For likely the most stunning example of his younger vocal range, I would recommend the old Soundgarden tune “Beyond The Wheel”. On the studio version he starts out low in baritone, rises to a mid-range voice, then shoots all the way up to the fifth octave in tenor, and spends a lot of the song way up there. It’s unreal.
Fuckin finally!!! Let’s go! I’m so tired Of seeing people react to the same shit. For whatever it’s worth to you, you sir have moved up a million more notches in my book! I haven’t even seen your reaction yet, just respect doing something a little different.
Go to call me a dog to sweet sunshower, 10 years of RandB and if you didn’t notice still righting 1 off rock songs with his bands. Just amazing. Listen to wave good bye. Your welcome:)
Not only imo one of the best voices ever, but also a great lyricist and so good at arrangements, knowing how to make the most impact. Plus he excells at being able to bring extraordinary emotion into whatever he sings. One in a million talent ,RIP Chis C
For something extremely unique you should try Chris Cornell singing One. It is a amalgamation of the U2 music of One and the lyrics of Metallica song One. A masterpiece.
Astonishing. A magical genius. Star seed. Shooting star. My hero forever. I can’t wait to be where he is. I love you Chris. Thank you for everything. For everything. ♥️☮️🦋
Yes!! Finally! Been wanting this one forever! The lyrics man…I only love you when I’m down but I’m down all the time. Heartbreaking 💔 You will love Like a Stone by Audioslave which he was in in the early to mid 2000s live at AOL with just Chris and an acoustic guitar. So moving! Also his album Songbook is some of his best songs all acoustic and all amazing!
you have to check out Beyond The Wheel (song 8 of 8 1990 Germany). I have NEVER heard Chris hit these high notes and it's not even falsetto. unbelievable range.
So glad you did this one! Check out these live performances: Beyond The Wheel: pick between these 2 live recordings. The vocal performance here is astounding: ua-cam.com/video/Szht5RFy-LQ/v-deo.html (song starts :45 in). But this second clip is the more popular one. The video quality is better here, and the vocal is more prominent in the mix at this show - ua-cam.com/video/gh20q3Dx8RI/v-deo.html As Hope and Promise Fade: ua-cam.com/video/COIaE5Kkof0/v-deo.html ... and this epic studio recording of Slaves and Bulldozers: ua-cam.com/video/wgqLAlFKtXA/v-deo.html
I got the honour to meet him in person and of course as Island Girl I didn't realise he was huge back in the days in Seattle lol so I didn't go to the concert... but I know his best friends well...
You bring up a good point. I personally think voices like his and Lane Staley, Cobain and others started back in the day as metal band type singers, and after many years of heavy stuff, it had to have strengthened the hell out of their vocal control abilities. Just a thought. Great reaction video, keep up the great work!
Another great reaction!! I hadn't heard this before, but it only confirms that Chris Cornell was an incredible singer 👏. I don't know if you've already heard his version of Billie Jean, but if not, you definitely need to check it out. See what you think.
So many people appreciate what a great vocalist he was, but not enough people really appreciate his songwriting. This song is deep as fuck. He's addressing his depression as being "down". When he says "I only love you when I'm down, but I'm down all the time" he's acknowledging how messed up he is, but it's all he has to offer.
What say you now The door is opening on your vigil Now I'm in my usual way I save my breath, knowing what you're You're wanting me to say I only love you when I'm down You say that midnight Opens its arms to me Leaving you alone, then I fly so far away Until the light blurs my vision And I have nowhere to roam I only love you when I'm down And I only love you when I'm down And I'm only near you when I'm gone But one thing for you to keep in mind, you know That I'm down all the time All the time Well, I know you're reaching out And you need to feel my hand You want to be understood Yeah, well, I understand I know you hold Precious little hope for me And in your happiness I'm always drowning in my grief And I only love you when I'm down, oh-oh And I'm only near you when I'm gone But one thing for you to keep in mind, you know That I'm down all the time All the time All the time All the time
Thank you for offering that refund on the PayPal. I made a request a long time ago that hasn’t been answered. I don’t mind paying you back in the future and making the request again.

1st time I watched this performance on UA-cam I was absolutely blown away. Greatest voice in my opinion
Hell yeah!
I was a dirty kid with high ideals and perspective of other cultures and other lives. At 19 in 1990 he was my brother who understood me and I would fall asleep to him learning life together. They taught your voice, standing up for love and kindness , difference and being yourself.
SO HAPPY YOU DID THIS ONE!!! More people need to hear this side of him. ❤
between 91 to his death I saw Cornell sing 50 times live - GOAT
Wow that’s amazing ❤
I'm jealous.
You should learn to share! It would be a dream to even see him just once ❤
Jealous af
I want to start a fund to prevent people from saying “GOAT.”
I think that he would hate that moniker.
He really could’ve been a blues singer some kind of soul singer. He wasn’t just a rock God.
There's not a style that he couldn't pull off. You can even hear his soulful influence when he did hard rock in the 90's.
I'm SO HAPPY...people are finding this performance now! ..AWESOME.
definitely a favorite
Same here, so few people have found this performance, which is way better than the official recorded one in my opinion.
You are spot on about his maturity here.
Younger singers are still after the shock and awe response , he’s got nothing to prove here
This is an immensely powerful song by Chris, the lyrics are beautiful. When you think about how it ended for him you just have to cry 😢
Chris Cornell forever!! R.I.P. you unsurpassable legend ❤️
This is by far my favorite live performance of his. He was just beyond amazing. His voice exudes both pain and beauty. No one sings like you anymore. Thank you thank you thank you for doing this video.

Say Hello 2 Heaven
Yeah, that’s a classic.
This is fenomenal

Beautiful soul😢
The only man in the world that gives me goosebumps.
You know it’s good when you can’t even sip your drink, because you might miss something. ♥️
He was such a huge loss. Will miss him foeever. There was not much he couldn't do. Thanks for the memories.

Wow his voice was unreal.... loved your reaction... this song gave me the chills!

Seasons (Studio/Jam)
Simply sublime version. Showcases Chris’ gift (voice) to perfection.
Oh, I love that one.
So glad you did this one!

Chris had a 4 octave range. He has always been one of my favorites. Miss him so much!
thank you for sharing the Chris Cornell stuff. I miss him so much. I'm so glad you love his voice too!!!
His voice ages like fine wine
I got the honour to meet him in person and of course as Island Girl I didn't realise he was huge back in the days in Seattle lol so I didn't go to the concert... but I know his best friends well...
4 octave range. Magical genius.
That's Dennis Hamm on the piano. That short section solo before the bridge is as good as it gets.
Still love his version of Billie Jean - one of my all time favourites.
And Sunshower....great song
This performance is just killing me so much lately.
You bring up a good point. Please check out Ticket To Ride from this same concert. The ending will blow your mind!
Yay, my fave!
Natasha Schneider wrote piano part also produced his record with her husband

Not sure you knew this but in his record "Scream" it was Executive Produced by Timberland & he had songs produced by Justin Timberlake & Ryan Tedder
Yo, Chris REALLY could belt in 91..
He passed I think 17th of May 2017. At least the year I am sure about ❤
You should listen to "As Hope and Promise Fade" by him. I think you would love it.
What say you now
The door is opening on your vigil
Now I'm in my usual way
I save my breath, knowing what you're
You're wanting me to say
I only love you when I'm down
You say that midnight
Opens its arms to me
Leaving you alone, then I fly so far away
Until the light blurs my vision
And I have nowhere to roam
I only love you when I'm down
And I only love you when I'm down
And I'm only near you when I'm gone
But one thing for you to keep in mind, you know
That I'm down all the time
All the time
Well, I know you're reaching out
And you need to feel my hand
You want to be understood
Yeah, well, I understand
I know you hold
Precious little hope for me
And in your happiness
I'm always drowning in my grief
And I only love you when I'm down, oh-oh
And I'm only near you when I'm gone
But one thing for you to keep in mind, you know
That I'm down all the time
All the time
All the time
All the time
When i'm down definitely hits different when you're feeling blue great track, the solo on this live killer really adds to the soul.
Oh shit.
Thank you for offering that refund on the PayPal. I made a request a long time ago that hasn’t been answered. I don’t mind paying you back in the future and making the request again.
Abaolutley no problem 💯
Singing like he is in church so God can hear him.
You should check out the song...Cleaning my gun
why is it that no one is reacting to the studio version? you don't get the full effect with this live version. You need to do the studio version bro!
Oh and to answer your question, he passed 5/18/2017. A day I will never forget. 😭
Actually newer Chris. This was many years after Soundgarden and Audioslave. And his solo career.
Check out Chris Cornell 5/03/10 The Roxy - Disappearing One
His vocal cords weren't healed completely when he sang this. Fact
It's called heroin, my friend. Billie Holiday, Scott Weiland, etc. It gives them a vocal fry that sounds...... unique and lovely.
These reaction videos are hilarious. Flat out absurd. 2020's distilled and shot into your jugular with a turkey baster. Idiocracy.
