*I've been listening to Metallica since I was I was 14 (1985 and telling my age here lol). They got me through some really sorry times, starting with 'Fade To Black'. I remember ppl crying in the hallways in high school (including me) when Cliff was killed. They are now and will always be my favorite band.* 🤘
My most favorite band in the world, since 1985 lol, they are amazing musicians and their lyrics are meaningful. And they just kill everything they do 😎🤘🤘 . And the girlfriend's hair looks nice 👍☺️
James got the idea for this song whilst he was on the phone with a girlfriend at the time. So its basically a heartfelt Ballard to tell someone you love them. Even Metallica has soul... And just remember kids. Metal passion not fashion.😎🤘 Keep growing reck you and your lady there..🙏
Fade to Black and One are a MUST by Metallica Elton John says instrumentally, Nothing Else Matters is the most beautiful song ever done and he did a piano version with Miley Cyrus This is their “Black” album and when they world says Metallica went soft but I enjoyed this album and think y’all would like Unforgiven as well from this one
The Black Album was a good album. There isn't a weak song on it. But it isn't as thrash as the first 3 albums (everything before Justice). It couldn't have been. Cliff was a HUGE influence on how their songs were structured and played...especially with Master and Ride. Without him they did need to do something different. As Jason put it...yeah they 'sold out'. Every stadium and every show. Jason's no slouch...and neither is Rob. But imho Cliff was one of the top 10 bass players of all time. At the very least in the heavy metal genre. If not others. Shit...the man wielded his bass guitar similar to the legendary likes of Eddie, Jimi, and Joe (Satriani) among others wielded their regular guitars. At least we can hear the bass on this album. Lol.
I saw something where James said The Unforgiven essentially was about Jason & how bad James, Lars, & Kirk treated Jason when he first joined. After listening to it after hearing that, it gives that song a whole new feel for me. It seemed like an apology to Jason
Essentially it's a metal love song, about travelling and missing loved ones. One rare song where James the lead singer actually does a guitar solo. Most of the time all the intricate guitars are done by Kirk(Like in the beginning that was Kirk) and James does the rythum guitar to fatten up the song.
This song came from the Black Album which doesn't have a bad song on it.... Sad But True, The Unforgiven, Enter Sandman, The Struggle Within, Hollier Than Thou.... A brilliant album which doesn't disappoint.
I like the Black album, but it's also the album most Metallica fans said was the "sell out" album because it got away from what they had previously done. People that found Metallica with the Black album didn't hear the same vibe when they went back and listened to "Kill em all" "Ride the lightning" or "Master of Puppets". "Black" was actually commonly called the "Sell Out Album"
At that time.. GNR fans and Metallica fans were not hearing each other music (hate?) Can u imagine they were in the same stadium having a concert.. After Metallica concert has ended.. All fans going home and GNR fans coming to the stadium afterwards...
You can not IMAGINE how AMAZING a rock concert was!!! Absolutely incredible experience to have been able to be at so many. Unlike anything else you can experience!!!
I saw Metallica at Leeds Festival in 2015, they are absolutely amazing live! You guys will have to go to a rock festival, we're lucky to get the festivals we have in the UK plus it's small here so travelling doesn't take long.
I am not a huge metal fan, I am a Boomer and grew up with the Doors, CCR, Steppenwolf, Bob Seger, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, but there are songs here there that I truly enjoy. This is one of them. Great song
So, Elton John told the writer/singer this was a beautiful song and he did a version on the piano. Don't get me wrong, I love a bunch of their stuff...but I can appreciate when they have a song that just needs to be made. I think that happens to all the GOATs, a song demands to be made, but it's not like the rest of their catalog.
One of their most popular songs - and James didn’t want to put it out there. Lars loved it and said oh yes. And the rest is history- Metallica recorded a ballad.
Love the video in seeing how the band members work and play and enjoy doing their craft...making amazingly awesome music for generations to enjoy and appreciate! They sure do live their lives their own way....Metallica for the ages!!
Go watch them on The Howard Stern show when they played with Miley Cyrus. There's videos of them talking before they played and Elton John called in and saying that he thought that Nothing Else Matters is one of the best songs ever written. It moved James Hatfield so much you can see him fighting back some tears. If you want to see this song taken deeper look up what's called The Elevator version.
One of my top metal bands of all time. Another great and interesting rock band to start listening too is Volbeat. Lots of great songs and lead vocals has such a unique voice. Either "devils bleeding crown" or "becoming" are great starters.
Here's what's wrong with me. I like Metallica just fine but when I hear this song, I see Brian Joubert skating in my head. It's so bad that I paused this reaction, went and found a video of Brian skating to this*, watched it, and came back here to watch the rest of this reaction. Being a figure skating fan rewires your brain. 😊 If you guys ever make a movie reaction channel you should watch METALLICA: SOME KIND OF MONSTER. It's a documentary. I guess they updated it but I watched it way back when. It was really good. *he actually skated to a cover not the original
Yeah this song is very special and it always gets me thinking of my life and my past. And then when the bridge hits, I always shed a tear. Also, Y’all are cool as shit! My favorite UA-cam channel And y’all even fish too?! That’s awesome! Cheers from San Antonio!!
They have a seriously beautiful song called Orion as well,it is probably best to watch in a live performance as it doesnt really have an official video (to my knowledge) Its one of the few instrumental songs they have, and its very popular. Since she liked this one that much, has she heard theese Metallica songs yet? The Unforgiven,The Unforgiven II (there is even a third one The Unforgiven 3,but im not sure that one even has a video, the other 2 has) Metallica - The Day That Never Comes. Ooooh or wait a minute,i have a very underrated song by them im sure she will love: Metallica: Mama Said. Guaranteed not heard Metallica like this before! But yeah, thoose can be suggestions for the future if you want to treat her with more "chilled" Metallica songs. I have had theese guys as my favourite band since i had extreme anxiethy and deep depression ever since my young teens. Metallicas lyrics and theyr style of music helped me keep a sane mind as just a young kid.
This is my favorite there's a version out there that's even better though Metallica did some work with an orchestra a while back and it's phenomenal you have to listen to it!
James wrote this song to his girlfriend, while he was touring. Lars heard it and said this should be on album. It was only supposed to be for James girl.
Crackn Song From The Black Album - Which Is a Classic Album - Check Out The Unforgiven, Sad But True, Wherever I May Roam, God That Failed - All Classics From This Amazing Album.
Lars ulcih (don't know if I spelled that right hehe :)... don't whant to google it.... he is one of the best drummers in the world. The "solist" (mexican), one of the best. I am danish and my older brother played with the danish guy. They are not billionaires without a reason..
another great vid fam. love yal and keep it up. if you havent heard Fade To Black by Metallica , i HIGHLY suggest it. if you have , then i suggest Welcome Home(Sanitarium).
"One of the best songs ever written"- quote from Elton John. It's beautiful.
I nearly cried when I watched that interview and seeing James so overwhelmed by Elton’s words
It's facts!!!!
@@susanconstable2113 James almost cried
Just put that on the résumé lol
I cried at that moment too.
Best metal band ever . Over 40 years together & they touring still now

I'm a couple years older. I was 16 in '85, but have the same experience. Fade to Black.
@@billwong553 i was 16 too LOL, we used to see Metallica at L'Amour Brooklyn when they first stated out . Heavy Thrash! they were great.
Same with my dad and he was born in 85 lol
I meant 71
My most favorite band in the world, since 1985 lol, they are amazing musicians and their lyrics are meaningful. And they just kill everything they do 😎🤘🤘 . And the girlfriend's hair looks nice 👍☺️
I have always loved this one because it shows their personalities ❤
James got the idea for this song whilst he was on the phone with a girlfriend at the time.
So its basically a heartfelt Ballard to tell someone you love them.
Even Metallica has soul...
And just remember kids.
Metal passion not fashion.😎🤘

My favorite metal band ever. This ballad is one my faves.
That James solo is so classic and one of the things that made me pick guitar up in mt teens and become the best guitarist in my school.
James doesn’t play a lot of solos but every solo he plays are always 🔥
I've been listening to metallics, and this song in particular, all my life. I don't think I'll ever get bored.
Heard Metallica in high school a year or less before And Justice for All came out.Mind blown.
This is the greatest ballad ever made
Fantastic, come back to years 1990 , beautiful músic, thank you
This is my all time favorite Metallica song!!!
Another chilled one is "Mama said"

Miley Cyrus has a deeper voice than James Hetfield.
@@chrisandrew6633 bad joke
@@tiwagg5345 it was not the purpose of the album. Metallica wanted to change and it's not you who's going to dictate it

Trust in yourself, not what others tell you who you are, how to behave. Everything you are is inside you, trust that.
I haven't listened to this in forever but DAMN that build up and solo GOT ME. !!!!!!
You can not IMAGINE how AMAZING a rock concert was!!! Absolutely incredible experience to have been able to be at so many. Unlike anything else you can experience!!!
Next, Guns N' Roses - Don't Cry
This was the first song I learned to play on guitar.

One of my All Time Favorites!!!
I agree with you on the solo. While it's pretty short, it's just so amazingly soulful and beautiful.
They were my favorite band in high school. Still love old Metallica
I am not a huge metal fan, I am a Boomer and grew up with the Doors, CCR, Steppenwolf, Bob Seger, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, but there are songs here there that I truly enjoy. This is one of them. Great song
Now that you did a mellow song from them check out "the thing that should not be Seattle live 1989" one of the heaviest live performances ever
Check out their live performance with Miley on Howard Stern they talk about how this song came to be! Plus Miley sings her ass off on this song!
You want a song that steps out of the "normal" for Metallica? You should check out Mama Said, alot of people think it has a country vibe to it.
Got you! Thank you!
That's a damn good song. James really put his heart into writing that song. I like that it had a old school country music vibe.
@@kwarren7732 Actually there are several reaction videos to this song including Brad & Lex, Shawn & Mel, and Adventures of TNT.

The Unforgiven II is another relatively chill Metallica song you guys should check out
You should listen to the version with the San Francisco Symphony (with the late, legendary Michael Kamen ofcourse).
Definitely need to check out their song "Mama Said"
This was my senior prom song in 1992!
