This is most definitely the best channel on youtube. Your sense of humor and infinite knowledge are the perfect mix! The visuals are so relaxing and calming, I have literally fallen asleep while listening to your description of a lethal fungus. You are the best!
Wow! A knife guy with common sense. Most vids like this, after the idiots have grossly abused their knives and used them for 3 dollar wood splitters and augurs, they blame the knife for acting like a knife. You didn't! Thumbs up! Nice custom job, too. Almost makes me want a BK7.
@@chickengod9885 5 years later I now have my own job and I own 20 knives ranging from spiderco, civici, bench made, and some Balisongs! Sure have become a knife guy now.

It's really nice to see a bushcraft-esque video without the generic middle-aged man acting like this knife is the difference between life and death. Great video!
My BK7 almost removed my pointer finger has I was batoning in my early learning days of hackin and slashin and playing woodsman out in the forest. I learned swiftly why folks use a "sissy stick" and why you never start the batoning process with a thwack while holding the wood with your other hand. Learned a valuable lesson that day. Love my bk7, its a life long favorite of mine and an excellent if not perfect field knife for larger tasks.
Hi Alfie. This is the most entertaining and informative knife review I have ever seen. Laughed my head off at the funny stuff. Love your style. Keep it up mate.
I must say, the BK7 I purchased, after your review, not only improved my feelings of being a premeval man, but it really does what you have pointed out. I'm using it now for two-three years and it does what is has to do: cutting trees, cutting onions, preparing spaghetti, cutting meat, cutting hornets, cutting rope, cutting branches, picking up tea jugs from the fire, set fire with fire steel, (not) impress my wife, impress my survival teacher, creating feathersticks, impress my neighbour, making christmas trees, cleaning toenails....probably I forgot a lot (like making love to me....ay...). I bought a BK2 ('the Beast") for my son. And he got an extra feature: cutting his fingers during cleaning the blade! Wow, these BK's have kind of the soul of MacGyver in them, for a very nice price, all from NY! (I have added a firesteel, a small grindstone and a small hand bellow in the front pouch) Thanx Alfie! I really appreciate this review! Cheers!
I have the BK 2. A bit shorter but just as effective. Custom fits perfectly in a custom leather sheets that fits horizontal at the small of the back or could attach to the strap of your backpack. It comes with a pouch attached for a knife wet stone, but I replaced it with wetfire and tender. Also a loop pouch for a ferrocium rod and small saw blade used as a striker/saw. Very happy with it.
you know what alfie, i love your vids and i recommend your channel all the time, your unorthodox delivery and total fungi skills etc are very entertaining, just thought id let ya know how much fun your vids are, cheers, dave
i didnt even watch the video yet but ive been fiending for a new video from you!!! thanks man. also im buying this knife because of you. ill name it alfie. good shit man. long time fan from hawaii. shoots brah
Thanks a lot man I'm gonna buy this knife. I've Been thinking about it for months and was already planning on doing it. But this just made me NEEED it. Thanks bro
Got it years back when the review came out while I searched for a knife. I can approve all you say, especially the action man playing! All jokes aside, the handel is not so comfortable, but fixable, shied is not perfect, but I love the added pocket! Every thing else is good.
Like the fallos blade Alfie but it costs 160 euros in my neck of the woods so damn!! Great review. Good to see a review from someone who does not have the time or energy to polish their blades and shiny tools every time they get back from the bush. Bang on!
Andy from doberman knives does some first class work mate , he did me some kydex sheaths for a coldsteel bushman and my Mora and went over the blades aswell , very decent bloke , good video mate ,
Thank you for this review, it was first class and lacked endorsement. Damascus steel [1095] was a good choice for you as the D2 is a harder material that is prone to chipping under vigorous usage.
metric system master race :D you crack me up Alfie. Good to see its holding up well with the bevels being much leaner. Do you want a Kydex sheath making for it mate??
Nice review, your point about the tip snapping rather than the whole blade does say lot about the quietly and why you repair rather than replace. One for my wish list ;]
I very much enjoyed your review. I love my BK7,, but I'm to busy and way to lazy to remove the coating. So I carry a scrape for my ferro rod. Thanks for the video
Nice review. Picked one up recently after watching this made my mind up.. If you glue a strip (a bit shorter than the inside of the sheath) of very slightly bent towards the knife 2mm thick aluminium into the sheath with something like araldite, it works as a spring towards the knife, closes the gap enough to grab the blade when it's in there, a bit like the way an M9 sheath grabs and prevents the knife falling out, even if you hold the sheath upside down and shake it. Add a little chamfer to the alu strip top side before you glue it in to prevent the knife ever colliding with the edge when you put it in there.
Another better way (as Alfie has outlined himself) is to weave paracord in and through the holes in the plastic. Creates a mux snugger fit than some half-asses glued on spring.
Have had my BK-7 since 2017 - besides resharpening it a few times it's holding up pretty darn well. Seen much abuse over the years but I always try to keep it in good condition. Have it with me on every hunting / fishing / camping trip. 9.5/10 , only small grievance for me is the standart handle - but that's nothing a bit of paracord can't fix. Either that or just get a custom handle.
AlfieAesthetics I forgot how much I enjoy your videos. I haven't watched in a while, but I'm back and excited to catch up. Other UA-camrs should take notes on how you do your videos. All the other reviews are improved, poorly-edited, Um-Er-Uh monstrosities. Yours are quick, concise, well-planned, and beautifully executed. Also, your montage of spark-throwing had me laughing out loud, so kudos. You've still got it. Throw me a shoutout if you're so inclined, but even if you aren't please just keep the vids coming!

I like knives to be able to pry. A strong tip can pry and split which is why I like the ESEE 6 and Gerber Strongarm cause they have their tips almost as thick as the spine
Ever consider a 12 in. 'Wonder Bar' Pry Bar or other miniature prying device to collar your impatience? Two thumbs up, love the videos, humor, and attention to detail as always.
The most obvious takeaway from this video---notwithstanding the excellent content on the subject matter---is that you should setup classes to teach others how to do good, concise, instructional, informative, entertaining videos. Too many doing this seem to consider themselves the Steven Spielberg of UA-cam: They open with lengthy musical reeditions of some awful score, with background scenes that are meaningless, etc., and then they cram 5 minutes of useful information into 20-30 boring minutes. I am beyond impressed!!
Ka-bar makes some of the best knives I'v seen on the market, I myself own the bk-7 and the 9, although the 9 is a little bit much for what I do, on the other hand the b-7 is a 10,000 star/thumbs up out of the box. Hesitation sucks, just buy it!
