This has become a classic episode. I come back to watch it every now and then. From the epic destruction feel to the relaxed bushcrafting and food prepping this is a well balanced good time!
Funny you described it as a crowbar with an edge. I have literally used my Bk2 as a crowbar when I was in Afghanistan a few time. Cracking open a crate or freeing up a rusted or malformed door or hatch. Knife is a great all rounder.
I have used mine to chisel through old nails on wooden pallets we were breaking down and to rip up carpet striping out of concrete and all kinds of other hard use and while it's not as putty as it was when I first got its still going strong 7 years later..it really is the best all in 1 knife.
my Becker bk2 just came in the post today. what a knife! the ontario rat7 was my go to knife, now the bk2 is. what a beast! no more knives for me. I'm a disabled veteran and can't afford anymore. I think I have a very good collection now. love listening to you guys! you make my day! thanks.
Andre Gomes The schf36 is the cheapest one. I have it and it's a great knife that holds a great edge. My only problem with it is the handle which I don't pay attention to when I use it.
He is for sure the most baked looking guy who claims not to smoke weed. Maybe something like Obelix happened to him and he was dipped in some THC Extract as a Toddler. And since then it was not for him to ever touch it again. ^^
I have this knife for almost 3 years now, but i never touched it cause i got disappointed from its weight. Now you got me thinking of starting using it. Thanks guys!
it's not really a knife you hang on your belt for your trips and stuff. this knife is that kind if item that you just want because you want it. It's a great knife to play around with around the shed. I sold my previous one and always regretted it.
So glad you did a review on this knife, I also own the BK2 and its a hell of a knife. Been all over with me camping, fishing, hunting, lots of hard use and it hasn't failed me yet!
Maarten and Mikkie- great review and mods. These knives are made just a couple of hours from me. Ka-Bar's have a great history. My buddy, who just loves your channel is a Vietnam vet. He brought over his USMC Ka-Bar from his time in the Vietnam War. He never sharpened it in the two years he was deployed. He was in combat and beat the shit out of it. It had zero rust. He asked me to clean it and I actually got dirt off of it from Vietnam. It was too cool, knowing the history of that knife. It was an honor to clean it for my buddy. It was still pretty sharp too. Your channel has gone viral and I understand why. Remember I'm coming to visit sometime. Holland rules.
thanks a lot! Thanks for sharing the cool story! i can really understand the feel you get from something like that.. even though it's just dirt you can just get goosebumps fantasising what it must have been going trough there. happy winter days and best to you!
I have the bk 2, customized mine and upgraded the handle scales for the perfect bk 2....... Enjoying your video guys. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences with me, I appreciate it gentlemen.
Thanks a lot Travis! It's what we aim for! we want to share serious information without being dull. We don't have to do much more than be ourselves though haha.
The Becker BK series knives have far and away the best contoured grips I've ever felt. I haven't done the micarta swap out, but even with that, I have never felt hot spots or like I was losing control of the knife as my hands fatigued. I did grip tape my BK9, and once that was on, yeah even wet, I have never feared the knife coming out of my hand until I set it down. Evidently, Ethan and I have exactly the same size hands.
GREAT VIDEO!!! You made is very clear what the knife was for, why you did the tests you did, and how well it could perform. The mods you did are superb knife. I always say that it's best to have multiple knives and this, "crowbar with an edge" as you call it, is a knife that could go a very LONG way toward providing long term security and vitality if one was left in a genuine survival situation. I don't own this KA-BAR but I am now considering it. Thanks for a great video. Your disclaimers are very clear and help the viewer know exactly why and what you guys are doing every second of the video, excellent.
Thanks a lot! Yes, We added rice and raisins 15 minutes before taking it off the fire making it a great one pans dish! The recipe... it's all improves hahah.
gotta admit, i very much dislike big thick knives, especially this one. however, your videos are always fun and informative. thumbs up fells, greetings from texas.
Glad my comment was picked in a Becker review since im a proud owner of a bk10. Those mircarta handles plus the mirror polish on your bk2 really changed the knives character. 10/10
I don't need to look at any other knife review channels. I used to own a BK2, but sold it off. I wasn't really using it, but your enthusiasm makes it look very appealing. Great work, looking forward to more good stuff.

It's just tat kind of item that you want yo have just because you want it. It's a fun knife for around the shed though. The canvas handle does make it a lot better in my opinion.
Yeah, the Becker micarta scales are actually really nice. I moved them to my BK9, when I sold the 2. Ended up selling that one, too. If we end up living in a post-apocalyptic Mad Max world, I'm gonna miss both of them.
Awesome video thanks guys, I actually was born/raised and still live in Olean,NY where kabar knives are made! Also case cutlery, Ontario knives and microtech along with zippo lighters are all made withing a 10min drive from my front door so it is great to hear from fellas who own thousand dollar knives that our quality and craftsmanship from the late 1800's still earns respect and can take a whoopin lol
Dutch Bushcraft Knives hey guys! Just got the coating off the blade of my bk2, and I am wondering how you got the stripes off of the blade. Did you just use the stone all the way down?
Great informative funny video as always, the zoom in and slowed moments on your reactions are the reason why I will keep watching. Usually these types of videos are so serious, but you guy keep it lighthearted and funny.

You guys make some of the most awesome knife videos and videos in general on UA-cam. Thanks for all the hard work. Good work on the bar muscle ups as well!
Really enjoyed this one boys well done.Could you do a Bushlore Condor? Also you crazy kids need to cut through a car roof inside and out as a rescue torture test.Well done your proper funny.Tony

A good winter survival knife. Ice chisel, easy to find if you drop in the snow, beefy handle when wearing thick winter gloves, chopping frozen wood etc. Like you we have lots of winter in Canada.
Just discovered this channel yesterday, its awesome I subscribed and thumbs up. Discovered it by looking for BK2 videos. Dutch Bushcraft Knives it awesome. Great Channel guys.
I've had my bk2 for a week now. Use it everyday and love it. It makes me feel like a real man. Hahaha thanks for all your videos. You guys are awesome.

Hello my outdoors friends, thank you for sharing this fine video. I believe that you convinced me to purchase a Becker BK2. I look forward to your future videos. 🤗
Get some micarta scales! I striped the black finish off with lacquer thinner, and did a forced patina on it! Its a knife like no other! Its a beast! Go to Hedgehog leather works! They made me a freaking bad ass sheath for mine! Its carbon steel, so it will rust! I put minwax on mine!
Would love to see some cooking videos from you guys. That stew looks really yummy! I'm really curious about that tea you usually cooking, like in the last video. Very awesome channel guys, keep it up. Good humor, nice info. This videos are always very cozy to watch.
thanks a lot! The tea is really easy to make. It's just boiling water and putting some spruce twigs in it. It makes for a very healthy tea and even tastes a bit like regular tea. I have one video about Dutch Oven spare ribs. I might do some occasional cooking videos next summer.

Dam this knife is a beast indeed. The amount of things it can chop or slash is impressing.

Very true. a beast of a knife.
321berber Yeah but the bk2 is sort of the everyman's heavy duty chopper. It's the middle porridge.

I disliked the BK 2 (and not becuse its shorter but because the overly thick blade)

Do you have some shitty knife laws in holland like we have here in Germany or do you just like small blades better ? Nice vid thx a lot.
We have a lot of laws about knives but we have a rule of thumb. We can carry a knife as long as it fits the situations. Carrying a knife in town is always a no go. If you carry a machete on your backpack when you are in the woods it's no problem at all. I always have a fixed blade on my belt when i'm walking the forest. Thanks!
