Love you channel! You have the best sense of humor for an outdoors channel hands down! I bet you are a lot of fun to hang out with...Keep up the great work!
Gotta be honest, I absolutely adore the BK7. During my service in the military it was one of my best friends out in the wilderness. I'm not sure if I will ever find another knife as versatile and useful as this one. Masterpiece! =)
Good review and spot on. I've had my BK7 for a year and just love it. The handles are slippery. I wrapped mine in hockey tape and it does the trick. Threw the sheaf out.
Tac... for my 27 year old son at Christmas, I outfitted my BK-7 with a great kydex sheath and G10 orange and black scales from the knifeconnection, and added a BK-16 knife with similar knifeconnection G10 handles as a companion knife. He is stoked, and thinks this is a great system for him with his folding saw and tomahawk. Thanks for showing us the BK-7. Thanks for all of your reviews... keep it real, bro! Keep beating at them!
This was one of my first fixed blades and now I have dozens that are even much more valuable but still yet this one is still one of my favorites. Obviously I got it with kydex sheath and micarta scales. Thanks for the review
+The Last Huntsmen although another thing you can do is use some Wilson wrap. Pm101 style. I've tried it before I upgraded to micarta and it works great too
I purchased the bk7 a couple years now, very popular blade with a lot of reviewers, especially Chris Tanner, but I dislike the blade design entirely. Does everything you need a knife to do, just don't like the swedge.. Opted for micarta scales on mine, and stripped off the coating and put a 90 degree spine on it to strike a ferro rod, now it's a complete survival blade. I also have the bk2, customized it too. I have the bk9, and bk16 customized all of them with micarta scales. Polished them to a mirror finish, they look like custom knives today... As always thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinion on this very popular blade, I appreciate it sir.
+Tactical What I do with these handles is grind some traction into them. I did the same with the micarta handles in my Ontario RD7. It works with Kraton and Grivory too. I just grind shallow criss-crossing groves into the handles that provide traction
+Tactical Thanks for the awesome review. My favorite knife. I spent about an hour, maybe a little longer, with a wood burner with a pointy tip and stippled the grips. Made the handles 100% better. No slipping what so ever. Didn't even have to take the grips off the knife. Yeah the sheath is cheap but it does work and I have a fire kit in the pocket on mine. Some day I will buy a nice kydex sheath.
+Tactical Do you know what micarta scales are? I doubt it. There isn't just one kind, or one quality, or any that are as good as half a dozen other types.
Say Heah Tac't, I left mine stock, I also paired mine with the BK-17 and added the Swabbie to it since it is a little lite to chop with, especially to stay warm and process firewood, I never had hand problem with slippage, I guess the large size fits good, I mean I wear a large glove so it fit's my hand good, Maybe small would slip more again small hands, Regardless it is a good knife. ,, ,, ,,
Oh yeah, the factory optional micarta grips are absolutely worth it. They are a tiny bit thicker overall than the stock plastic grips. But the difference is very slight. If anything, it makes the grip feel even better.
Gotta love that series of blades. All of them have a massive following. I think the high saber grind is absolutely the best for splitting wood and if convexed the best for chopping and cutting. I always wondered if the Grivory handles could be stippled like a Glock with a soldering iron? That would fix the slippage.
Awesome knife, another one i'm going to add to my list for my collection. Thanks to youre advice it keeps on growing. And on a personal note, i am now definitely cured of United Cutlery. You allready pointed it out but had to try. Thnx and keep on going!! Greetings from overseas :P
In that size range 6 to 7 inches i have the esee6, rat7, rd6, and bk7. Id trust the bk7 with my life first. Then the rd6. The bk7 only has 1 equal ive tried in that size: The architect 6.5! I live in Washington and take multiple knives in the field to test. In Washington during rainy season you have to baton to get dry wood. Rains almost every day there. You need relatively thick pieces of wood to get dry wood. 4.5 or more inches. Hard and wet wood often. The esee 6 and rat 7 hung up. The bk7 plowed through. As far as blades snapping i dont know that its the best or not at not snapping. Esee6 has the best garauntee but that means nothing if it cant perform the task. It stands to reason that since you never know what environment you will end up in you need a knife to handle such a situation. This could have been life or death for someone. Believe it or not the rtak 2 and sp 5 couldnt get through ONLY the bk7
Hey Brother Tac! Great review of a knife I've been considering for awhile now! Got to thinking about those handle scales and came up with the idea of getting some of those traction appliques you can apply to the floors of shower stalls and cutting some pieces to fit the handle scales. Use a black permanent marker to color them in. Bonus - they won't peel off when wet! Just a thought.
Another awesome review. You always make me laugh brother, by far, my favourite knife channel! You cut through the bullshit and get to beating and cutting shit. Cheers
My brother tactical! I love u man! your videos always are so helpful and man you make me laugh so hard with some of the shit you say! lol...you are just being you and it's so fun to watch your videos.
Those Beckers are good knives. Good steel with a good heat treat, good blade geometry, not too thick 3/16 is plenty good, and I love that the edge angle on them is not too obtuse, but more like 20 degrees or close to that, but still they keep a good edge stability regardless. Great handle design (bad material). I have a BK9 so I'd love to see you do a not so quick review of that one please Mr Tac. use it use it hehehe Oh and I put Wilson tennis tape on mine and it don't move. Just start at the self guard and overlap your tape a bit, then put a drop of super glue (on the tape not the handle) at the end of the wrap and it'll never go anywhere.
You could try stippling the scales, kinda what is done with polymer mags and pistol frames. I stippled NY Kershaw OSO for the same tractions issues and it worked great. Not sure if grivory stipples well or not, but if you are gonna put micarta scales on there is not really much to lose if the stippling doesn't pan out.
great review i love this knife in pair it up with a bk 17 got micarta handles for both but i do need new sheaths some time love to see you put it through its paces
Instead of the ranger band, try some tennis racket grip tape. Wilson makes some and others do too. It works on any knife or hatchet. This tape has two purposes. No slip, less shock. Just like in a tennis racket. Also dump the factory sheath and get a custom Kydex one for it, from Red Rhino Customs or whoever your favorite Kydex source is. This knife is a beast.
I like BK knives, but as you say, the handles aren't great for hard use. As hard use as they are designed for, a grippier handle would be a nice improvement.
New sub. You got this Awesome unique way of doing great reviews and its great. Im looking for a large blade to go camping baton and hack I really like the coldsteel Trailmaster but at around 150 its a little pricey to beat on personally speaking. I want a blade around 8 inches and clip point. Any knifes you would suggest? for under 100?
My favourite knife next to the bussy team Gemini light.you have to be carful with the tip on the bk7 they do tend to snap if it dose snap don't throw it grind it to a point at 6 to 6 and a half inches it's even stronger my brother
"Got a big piece of frozen wood", ya with this cold weather I have frozen wood every morning ha ha! Good vid dude, just curious, would you review a kabar fighting knife if you had one in hand?
Would the bk7 be a good fighting knife? i'm comparing with the Sog seal team. The bk7 seems a bit wider.... I don't know if that will hinder its stabbing.
Love you channel! You have the best sense of humor for an outdoors channel hands down! I bet you are a lot of fun to hang out with...Keep up the great work!
MI Prepper you have great taste
+Tactical That's what she said...
I appreciate your "everyman" approach to gear reviews. You thrash on knives the way real people do when they get to work out in the woods.
I'm going to schedule a night where I binge watch your videos while hammered.
Gotta be honest, I absolutely adore the BK7. During my service in the military it was one of my best friends out in the wilderness. I'm not sure if I will ever find another knife as versatile and useful as this one. Masterpiece! =)

The broken axe at the beginning was hilarious. I have no idea why I laughed so much.
Saying silly things is your trate it’s who you are keep it up tack you’re an inspiration
This was one of my first fixed blades and now I have dozens that are even much more valuable but still yet this one is still one of my favorites. Obviously I got it with kydex sheath and micarta scales. Thanks for the review

Love the last few 'retro-blade' reviews. Your original vid on the BK-7 sold me. This video resold me.
I used a soldering iron and made a pattern grip
I purchased the bk7 a couple years now, very popular blade with a lot of reviewers, especially Chris Tanner, but I dislike the blade design entirely. Ive been watching your videos lately and they are awesome keep doing em man!
I stuck with the stock handle scales, but I used a soldering iron to melt in some texture. Works great for me. Great video!
This channel is just a real life "battlefield: recon's guide to survival and gear"
I wrapped my handle with Wilson tennis racquet tape from Walmart, works well.
The kydex sheath you had made for it is perfect ! Great review !
Get micarta handles for it. Love my BK7. Don;t let yer wood go soft.
+Living Survival lol hell ya
+Living Survival or rotten...just saying....
Living Survival. that's what she said
+Tactical What I do with these handles is grind some traction into them.
I did the same with the micarta handles in my Ontario RD7.
It works with Kraton and Grivory too. I just grind shallow criss-crossing groves into the handles that provide traction
with micarta scales I'd probably give it a 8 1/2
+Tactical Put condoms over the grip and then it can double as a sex toy
+Tactical Thanks for the awesome review. My favorite knife. I spent about an hour, maybe a little longer, with a wood burner with a pointy tip and stippled the grips. Made the handles 100% better. Been looking at this knife for years.
Most of my friends love the bk9.
Specially my ex-military friends.
James Ritchie absolutely, I like Busse Combat Micarta, They use the Phenolic Resin which I think is what Buck uses to make some Buck Handles. ,, .
BK-7 is awesome, one of my favorites :-)
The original Jess...
Realy like your Jessica x and channel
Any chance of remaking the Bush Kraft 7, Chris?
+PREPAREDMIND101 You smell like schrade's ass tanner.
Barry McCociner Shitposter inbound.
Gunner193 That makes a lot of sense. I can tell you took advantage of the 50% off lobotomy sale.
Past with flying colors awesome video.
3:45 Thats why i love your vids, sooo funny xDDD Keep them coming Tac, your vids are amazing!

Kabar Bk14, Bk16 and Bk7 are in my go to kit.
Gotta love that series of blades. All of them have a massive following. I think the high saber grind is absolutely the best for splitting wood and if convexed the best for chopping and cutting. shannonandsheila1 Cool! Now I gotta give that a shot! Thanks!
I'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR U TO REVIEW THIS
Ah yeah, right as I was getting bored with Seattle vs Carolina game, Brother T uploads a video. Right on playboy!
+Jack Mehov your man comes through!
+Tactical when in boredom, brother T seems to load up a vid, good looking out T!

You should do a chop off with knives in the 5-7" blade range and see how the bk7 stacks up
Just stumbled apon your channel, love it.
ı am watching your videos everyday, because of your intro video :D you're crazy man :D
Hey Brother Tac!
Great review of a knife I've been considering for awhile now!

Just a thought.
I have that knife and put micarta on it and they make a world of difference. The sheath is crazy
I love your channel so much my man!
Another awesome review. You always make me laugh brother, by far, my favourite knife channel! You cut through the bullshit and get to beating and cutting shit. Cheers
Nice to see some reviews that aren't 100% biased by the price of the knife (higher automatically means better)! Cough, cough, preparedmind101...
Hockey tape fixed my BK9 on the cheap. Right on with the steel and geometry. Tough but not unreasonable to sharpen.
+BrianWest58 true I sharpened Bushes BK2 & it took a while to sharpen it
Seems like a good buy, it's a shame the sheath is all loosey-goosey. You're my favorite reviewer for knives Tac, never stop the awesomeness brotha.
I love your channel the testing is great cheers

Nice blade and good review as a few upgrades and this would be a great blade...
Awesome test. I lost it at the condom that didn't fit.

Not sure if grivory stipples well or not, but if you are gonna put micarta scales on there is not really much to lose if the stippling doesn't pan out.
I love kabar's bk line
great survival knife overall. cheap and high quality...sharp as hell
Every Pecker needs a Becker. :D Fun to customize this one.
awesome review tac...did get a custom sheet and I like it.
great review i love this knife in pair it up with a bk 17 got micarta handles for both but i do need new sheaths some time love to see you put it through its paces
+Amra Survival high 5
Ur my favorite UA-camer
I want it. But idk if im going to get it because of that slippery looking handle. I have to think about it. Thanks very much for the review
My man Tac! funny ass shit when u said its like a condom slipping down on you! lmao...keep up the great vids playboy! 👍
I wrapped some tarred twine around my bk2 then put the tube on and it helped a bunch
+Lazy Moose that's different
i used a ranger band from the old school 10 speed bikes with the skinny tires. Bitch to get on but it doesnt slip ;
Thxs for the upload!
Nice big knife! :)
Impressive results! Nice vid tac :)
+Totem Tommy thanks mang
I'm looking forward to gettting this knive. But being that they are prone to rust, what oil should i use for it? Thanks for sharing.
Thanx again for another great review Tac. What full size knife would you recommend ?
+Jeff Stanton this one works unless you need a bigger blade
Instead of the ranger band, try some tennis racket grip tape. Wilson makes some and others do too. It works on any knife or hatchet. This tape has two purposes. No slip, less shock. Just like in a tennis racket. Also dump the factory sheath and get a custom Kydex one for it, from Red Rhino Customs or whoever your favorite Kydex source is. This knife is a beast.
great knife, I like this one. The handle is a small matter. good vid, high five brother.
I've been waiting for this one lol
Have you thought about reviewing the tops Brothersof bushcraft fieldcraft knife?
Right Arm Bro! It would be awesome with Micarta scales.
Gteat vid as always. Im curious do you think it would be as easy to baton that hard wood if it wasn't frozen?
+lungboy42 depends on the wood & how frozen it is
other than the grip, it seemed to perform really well
+Claude Noto true
Tac you should test and review the Ka-Bar big brother
Good stuff Tac!
Nice review man. I just wanna ask if you still use that silky saw?
which do you like better? the bk7 or the bk9? I can't decide between the two. I love me some big blades
your commentary is hilarious, keep it up
good one tac. always good to beat on a Becker every once in a while.
Factory sheath works just fine.
thanks for the sheath recommendation
ya great knife!, got mine couple weeks ago. Love !
I like BK knives, but as you say, the handles aren't great for hard use. As hard use as they are designed for, a grippier handle would be a nice improvement.
Thats what she said :D Awesome video Tac!

Hey tact lover your shows can you do one on the kabar fighter usmc knife Micko
Great vid Tac +Tactical
+Jrod Ferrari thank ya
You'd think by now Kabar wouldve fixed the slipperiness issues with the handle. Seems like every review on UA-cam that same complaint comes up...
Top shelf
Froozen wood splits good ! Like ice blocks !
"Got a big piece of frozen wood", ya with this cold weather I have frozen wood every morning ha ha! Good vid dude, just curious, would you review a kabar fighting knife if you had one in hand?
They should contract Condor to make their sheaths, and totally change scale material otherwise they are excellent blades.
great video ... give carey customs a look on the micarta scales, he rocks .....
Master Chief?
Would the bk7 be a good fighting knife?
i'm comparing with the Sog seal team. The bk7 seems a bit wider.... I don't know if that will hinder its stabbing.
Imo a fighting knife would be shorter and lighter, I just don't see how u can have speed on your side waving this thing around.
Nice review ! Do you live upstate ny ?
Good review thx for reviewing it
great review man. still sticking with me cold steels. shiver me timbers
ha
hei tac what is your thoughts on laminated convex grind style blades
Can you do a review on the condor primitive bush knife?
just wrap the handle with hockey stick or tennis racket handle tape from Walmart/k-mart. cost$6. works great.
You got an esse 6 coming up for review Tac?
finally a bk7 review
Good review, Playboy! Too bad the grips and sheath are below standard. I l really like the knife otherwise.
