hahahahah!!!
Whether you’re woke, anti woke or neither the current social climate in our culture is overwhelmingly cringe.
I feel like the word woke lost it’s meaning in the last couple years. Just like people used to call everyone a fascist, people call everyone woke. Just a different side of the same coin.
Except the fascist one keeps turning out to be true.
FASCIST
@gf6x3gkmfw38 Only in the sense that people have utterly redefined what "fascist" means to be a concept utterly unrelated to what fascism actually is, sure.
@@manny75586 Nationalistic, adhering to tradition, and striving to eradicate "degeneracy"......which part is redefined?
@@Roonagu damn didn't know tradition was fascism. Yall add new shit to the definition every day
I fucking love Limp Bizkit and I'm not ashamed.
hell yeah brother
What's worse, I love the bands that love Limp BIzkit (Emmure, Atilla, Darko US)
@@bennymountain1 An Atilla/Limp Bizkit tour would be WILD.
Music is subjective...
Except country, LOL 😂
@@bennymountain1 I sold my buddy (who doesn't usually go any harder than nu metal) Emmure by explaining to him: Emmure is basically Limp Bizkit on steroids/crack.
My biggest issue with the anti woke people is they just think anything they even mildly disagree with is now "woke". I saw someone say that a character in a video game being a woman is the "woke agenda" lmaooo
"I only like seeing men in my media. But not in a gay way!"
@@FinnMckentyPRMBA💯😂😂😂
Anything that doesn’t benefit them and only them is now ‘woke’
Having female characters and diversity isn’t woke. However gender swapping, race swapping and forced diversity are woke.
Left did this too with nazi. Everyone they disagree with was a Nazi.
I listen to Bad Omens because they sound good I'm married with 2 babies under 2 so don't need to listen to them to get laid.
… anymore lol
The fact that people hated the trapmetal video doesn't mean they would hate any other video about new music... Maybe it's trapmetal that people hate, not new music in general.
I've really never had much success talking about new music. My audience is older and it's just not their interest.
The good thing about music is it doesn't take 10 million to make a song. "Woke" music isn't crowding out better or more creative music. If you only want to listen to straight white dudes literally nothing is getting in your way.
@@FinnMckentyPRMBAI enjoyed your Trapmetal video Finn lol. Your video is what opened the door for me to that subgenre and I’ve been listening to it ever since. Thank you for that.
@@FinnMckentyPRMBAI guess I’m an outlier, because I’m 40 and started watching your videos years ago because you went more in depth on the broader cultures like hardcore culture, and because you introduced me to new music that suited my vibe, like the emo rap stuff.

I genuinely like Bad Omens.
I was recently waiting in line at a concert and I started talking to this guy next to me in line, he said that he doesn’t like how “anti-god” Bad Omens are. I responded: “funny, that’s one of the reasons I was attracted to the band.”. I don’t understand listening to rock and metal and being shocked when you find out that there’s a lot of blasphemy and anti-god subject matter, like in the BMTH situation, you have these supposed fans of the band who are outraged about the concert flyer that read “if Jesus comes back we’ll kill the the fu***r twice” or whatever it said. Why is that where they drew the line in the sand? Lmao
Imagine calling yourself a fan without even knowing what the band is writing about.
and he’s as valid for not liking it as you are for liking it. sure it’s more common in metal but that doesn’t mean that everyone is gonna like or even relate to those darker lyrical themes. and it’s not to say you’re wrong for liking them either. it’s just all the same. just because somebody likes how a band sounds doesn’t mean they have to be on board with the lyrical subject matter. “drawing the line” is personal and comes down to preference. there’s no right or wrong place to do it.
a lot of metal fans don’t care about lyrics either. i honestly don’t as much. but for people that do and want to listen to something they relate to lyrically i don’t see an issue with that. let’s be honest as badass as they are, a lot of deathcore bands for example don’t have relatable lyrics and i can see that being a turnoff even if someone happens to like the riffs. and that’s kinda what you’re running into here
People should just stop using the word “woke” and replace it with what it really was meant to denote, namely hyper-sensitive progressivism.
Or just bring back the term SJW.
@@brocklastname6682or just call them Marxists. Or communists. Or socialists. They are all pretty much the same thing.

Depends usually if you bring or have a group majority from Tiktok or twitter versus just real life individuals who aren't chronically online all the time.
Valid point
Hot take: Bad Omens is kinda.... boring
Edit: My girlfriend is a guitar nerd, and I met her at one of our shows. She complemented me on my guitar skills. Guess I won the lottery on that one.
Bad Omens is totally boring and generic, the singer has a good range but still boring music.
Bad Omens is just music for tik tok chicks. Way, WAY overrated
I don’t agree at all. They’re a fantastic band
Absolutely mid music, indeed
You're dating a unicorn
Woke is another catch-all term for stuff terminally online people don't like and want to whine about. Very few people on the anti-woke camp want to recognize how much they're just the old man yells at cloud meme.
I actually enjoyed when you spoke about Emo Rap and Trap Metal. I discovered cool artists thanks to you. Thank you for opening my eyes to these genres.
Maybe people like me who like to discovering new things should try to be more vocals than metal nerds...

Woke used to mean awake, as in paying attention to what was really going on.
yea leftist version of red pill or was red pill the rightist version of woke?
@@vulkanofnocturne probably red pill is the right wing version of woke, considering "red pill" is a reference to a movie that was written by lefties.

I've heard politicians call paper straws or bans on plastic bags "woke". Electric cars are "woke".

The modern metal scene definitely has some woke nonsense. There’s nothing wrong with that kind of messaging, but when you try to beat people over the head with it, to make yourself look more virtuous, it’s annoying. Not to mention the losers trying to cancel musicians simply because they can’t handle their opinions is wild. Y’all need to chill lol
This channel is your main channel as far as I'm concerned. Limp Bizkit dirty talk is pure gold.
Woke and anti woke are both pretty insufferable. Most people are rational nuanced people so I've never met many in reality. Feel like it's just meaningless chatter on the interwebs most times.
Finn stop whining if you're gonna keep uploading shit, you're like that one co worker who's been on the company for way longer than you and won't shut up about how much he hates his job and he's leaving soon. There's many people like me who support you and your content but this "I'm trapped making content I don't like cause that's what sells 😭😭😭" is getting really tiring dude for real
Current plan is to quit at the end of the year but we'll see
Honestly nowadays if I hear somebody use the word 'woke' unironically I either laugh or roll my eyes.
Well not everyone can be a social justice warrior for the fem commies....
It's not a specific word for anything tbh. It's branding something you hate as a particular lame term
@@onlyasmr733 It's for lame things of a leftist nature, specifically.
Well, I do the same for "racist" and "fascist," so I guess I can't blame you.
@@fossilrexjaw6473 You don't see the blatant projection coming from that crowd as they openly call for racial segregation/discrimination and get violent with anyone who disagrees with it?? Their word usage isn't wrong, they are just directing it at the wrong people...
I'm rather annoyed with both the woke AND anti-woke people. I genuinely dont care about either type of person. I just live my best life, doing/being my own thing. 😬
If he said that about Alex cause of his tattoo that's weak. People can change for the better. If we act like that why would people want to be better if everyone going to treat them the same no matter. It just encourages people to remain horrible because that's all you'll ever be able to be
I swear there’s so many huge parts of the punk and metal histories that you haven’t covered yet, but a lot of us would love for you to comment on and make videos about.
The typo negative video was a very, very awesome and welcome change. Goth is MASSIVE chapter in punk history and it’s still going strong. Check out Drab Majesty’s Demonstration album.
Industrial needs you Finn.
And that not all. There SOO much shit we would love for you to cover that won’t upset your audience.
Go and for another channel. He doesn’t know as much as he makes out
Caring that things are "woke" reveals a lot about a person that maybe they should just keep to themselves.
I took a girl to a bad omens show and about 3 months later we needed up saying.. currently about to hit the two year mark in a few months….
I do think there has been a rise in wokeness in the rock/metal scene and I do find it pretty annoying when these people feel a need to be like “Reminder that racism is bad!” “Reminder that trans rights are human rights!” because it’s like “Yes dear, we know.” But I also think it’s a waste of energy to care about people doing that because I’m just sick of politics no matter what, and it gets in the way of why it is that we enjoy art. It doesn’t matter who’s worse or who’s more annoying and I also think it’s a waste of time to argue about that.
it's like you might say "i know that" to trans rights are human rights but if you actually talk to trans people and listen to their experiences you would better understand that it is absolutely not a consensus and every day is a fight to keep going in a world where you can just feel the hatred strangers have for you just existing. even in the most liberal states people will still shout slurs at me if i walk around in public and my own friends have to leave their home states to be out just for their own safety from the potential of hate crimes, anti trans legislation, and being ostracised by family.
@@decompression8435 Honestly I would tell you if anything, it's way past due you guys take a hard look at your LGBT activism and recognize that it really isn't inspiring anyone to support your causes anymore. Left wing activism wanting to shove this niche lifestyle into every corner of culture, and feeling like it has to be constantly acknowledged, accepted and praised at all times is why support is tanking and why people are getting sick of seeing it and hearing about it. Activism may seem like a haven and safe place for you but in reality it's the cause of yall's misery. This is a harsh reality you guys are going to have to accept at some point in order to find peace with yourselves.
I went to a local show last year and this one dude performing did that stuff. He was like "this next song goes out to all the racists, misogynists, homophobes, transphobes, bigots, fascists, yadayadayda...all the buzzwords in the book..."you're not welcome here, f' you, if you're like that you're not welcome here!!!!!!111!!1" I'm just standing there with my eyes rolled waiting for him to shut up. There was less than 20 people at that show. Like dude...none of that stuff is even going on here. He was just screaming at the wall and acting like he's really saying something bold and profound.
I vehemently disagree with the trap metal assessment but I still watched it and appreciate your knowledge of it. Filthy millennial but I like that "bad" video and would much rather watch that than fucking Fred durst. Limp bizkit was dogshit then and nothing has changed
"No one watched my emo trap video. That's the only genre of music so I guess I'm stuck with nu metal"
Hey Finn, your mid-content is better than 99% of other people's non-mid content.
What did CJ do? Genuine question.
I'm also wondering how that Bad Omens take is a bad thing, lmao. I started talking to a girl this semester, and the first time we hung out, she asked me if I liked System of a Down. I made the correct choice by saying that I do (which isn't totally a lie, I do like some of their songs, but they lose me when they start singing about pizza toppings or whatever). We've gotten together several times since, and we're going out today. Sometimes, it's in your best interest to be the Bad Omens guy.
Sincerely, a guy that doesn't like Bad Omens
You and Henry Rollins seem to have a lot in common hehehe.
Also about "woke", I do agree with them to some extent. I don't really like it when people adhere to the moral crusade of political correctness and policing everyone on what and what not to say. There's a difference between, for example, satire and genuine malicious intent. And I love satire (and trolling, unfortunately for some. Hehe).
First time i heard the word "woke" was during a discussion about a book i had just read on the Tuskegee syphilis experiments and the second time was some guy whining about how the new dragonlance books have a black woman as the main character. Only a couple years apart if that tells you anything about the dumbing down of our society
Isn't the point of your "Finn" channel to be able to talk about what you want?
I'm not a creator and know nothing about UA-cam.
But I would love it if you posted all the nostalgia stuff on the PRMBA channel and your individual opinions on this channel.
At 2:53 **in the sing songy of Stabbing Westwards "What do I Have to Do?"**...... Finn: "What am I supposed to do!?". Someone should chop this sound byte up and put it to that song😂😂
I loved all your videos about emo rap and metal trap. The whole emo rap thing is actually one of my favorite genres and i thought it was great that someone like you was talking about it. And i wish you'd go back to talking about stuff like that but i understand that it doesn't sell.
The funny thing is my favorite videos are about stuff like trap metal because it gave me perspective and recommendations on bands I’ve never heard of.
Woah.. good morning everyone 😅
I don't care what people think. I care what they DO with their actions. This isn't Minority Report where there are thought crimes.
Oh don't worry that'll eventually be a thing as soon as metadata analysis advances to a certain point.
My mom is a psychologist and this is the consensus of the psychological community's research. Even people with OCD who have pervasive, intrusive thoughts about terrible things can still be good people. What you do is more important than what goes on in your head.
Both sides have zero self-awareness, when you spend all your time focusing on others you tend to neglect yourself
You hit the nail in the coffin with that! Being in that middle point myself between the woke and anti-woke crowd, one cannot deny that there are bad apples and morons in both circles.
Finn is so anti-woke he’s woke! 🤣
4:08 had a metronet guy servicing my router hear this… got a funny look. Thanks Finn
Compared to Controversy, it made Alex Terrible more talked about and STP more popular while Thy Art kicked out their Frontman CJ and immediately replaced him.
Edgy boys living on the edge and being surprised when they topple off should truly not be a thing like stop whining about "cancelation" after years of explicitly trying to provoke a reaction
Deep dive on Acid Bath. You're our age so we relate more to the older stuff. Definitely found new music through your channels. Especially hardcore. Kinda gave up on heavy music after Pantera broke up
Never been here to early! Good morning Finn!
Woke and Bigot are two words that gets tossed around lately and i feel like theres no meaning behind them anymore. Just listen to music and worry less if artist is "on your side"
4:17 Someone got soo excited they resubbed for another 6 months
Im 42. I loved your trap metal and emo rap videos. Those videos introduced me to both genres. Thank you.
About your writer's block: Just a guess (might be obvious) but do you consider covering bands which are within your target range (nu metal, 2000s nostalgia, hardcore, crust, grind, straight edge, punk, pop punk) but modern iterations of that. I'm sure there's many new bands within these categories and you probably already know more of them than I do. You could talk about new scenes, explain them, do some research about them, maybe an interesting scene from another country. It would bring some freshness definitely.
Nobody watches videos about new rock artists
Finn has already done it, but the majority of people don't consume that type of content. In Finn's words, what would you want to spend a Lot of time and energy on creating videos that people don't watch, or even worst, that they hate?
Interesting scenes from different countries would be good. Like the 90's Chinese punk scene or something like that.
@@TheDefton87 he said that about emo rap I think, which is fair haha. I mean there are a couple of very successful creators who talk about recent stuff. Nik Nocturnal found a way to be able to milk new heavy music forever. There's this Coolea guy who talks about old and new stuff at the same time. Wyattaxhim talks about new obscure releases and has decent numbers. So I'm like, if Finn's area is hardcore, then why not new stuff as well? But again he knows the full picture and sees the numbers so he knows
@FinnMckentyPRMBA that's the reason I watch nik nocturnal more than you, tho. To discover new music.
I don't know Finn I've said it before I'd love any content you put out and I'd like to see stuff on modern Bands..
There is a thought that stops thought and that is the only thought that ought to be stopped.
can you review food spots in washington?
I agree, I think most woke people have no idea why they think the way they do and the same goes for most anti woke people. They are just happy to be apart of something and don't really care if they are right or wrong it just makes them feel like they belong. People care more about being accepted by groups than being educated. It is hard and scary to think for yourself because it can challenge what you believe in, and that can be uncomfortable and scary, and who wants uncomfortable.
I enjoy your backgrounds of different bands. You kinda drop your opinion of their respective albums. I dig that.
Maybe do one on Acid Bath.
All Alex did was state his own mind it's how he grew up, your also forgetting that he is from russia where being LGBT is heavily frowned upon and is even criminal in some parts of russia.

And synthwave mixed with rap and some metal elements is fantastic.
what do you think of "Espresso" by Sabrina Carpenter? I think it's super catchy and is the type of pop you said you wanted.

Being an intelligent and critical thinker is what made the left push me so far to the right. You start to recognize patterns and ideological inconsistencies and the left reeeeeally doesn't like it when you start pointing that stuff out.
Nothing says "I'm an intelligent and critical thinker" like admitting that other people pushed your political views to the right by being mean to you.
@@homelander7742 Most of my views would be considered "right-wing" by most leftists. I didn't make the political climate what it is. All you have to do is say something like "Why did BLM spend their money on political campaigns and mansions instead of on inner cities?" and most people fly off the handle and revert to labeling you the horrid "r" word instead of providing an actual retort.
