Please note that I get a lot of requests and questions about what equipment is ‘best’ for treating a variety of conditions. The following is not meant to be an exhaustive or definitive list. Please use it as a starting point. If you have questions, please discuss with your healthcare provider. With that said, I have tried a number of the products below, but not all. Dr. Peng, as a 62 year old dealing with knee problems I have found your videos very informative and detailed. Thank you for sharing your expertise with the masses. The information you provided has helped me so far to avoid knee replacement so far. Keep up the awesome job.
Thanks for the support!
Thank you doctor. The army prescribed Ibuprofen 800mg for me for years for back and knee pain. I took it freely as I was not aware of the side effects. Today I have damaged kidneys and cannot take any NSAID medications. Now I am74 yo and lots of joint pain. I now do get treatments for my back and shoulder. One knee has been replaced. I add turmeric for my morning smoothies. It is good to see that my Asian wife is right to make me use it.
You are an absolute legend. These are the most objective and informarive, yet neutral videos on UA-cam. Truly professional and trustworthy content. Thank you!

Can we mix curcumin with SYSADOAS in treatment? and How long does a course of treatment by curcumin last?
thank you so much
I’ve been taking a turmeric supplement for about a month now and I do think it’s helping. But of course I also changed my shoes and that always helps.
True!
Thank you for your videos! Very informative for this 70 YO with OA on my left knee. What are the findings on the effectives of Tumeric/Curcumin as compared to Glucosamine/Chondroitin?
Turmeric seems to be more effective
Nano curcumin helped me a lot in my recovery from knee Osteo Arthritis.
Thanks for all the information Dr.. I wander if this study includes black pepper as a compound of the supplement ? Is it true that turmeric has very low absolution unless it's taken with black pepper?
I started drinking turmeric tea when I lived in Saudi Arabia. I got the entire office staff on it for arthritis pain because it worked.
So, how does this compare with glucosamine and chondroitin?
Dr. Peng - your videos have become my go-to when it comes to treating OA of my knee and shoulder at home. I supplement daily for this condition and wonder if I am overdoing it. Is it better to stick with one such as Turmeric/Curcumin? My daily regimen consists Turmeric/Curcumin, Glucosamine/Chondroitin and triple action joint health that includes type II collagen, boron and hyaluronic acid. No side effects, but is it overkill?
I feel like if you are getting results stick to it
Hi Dr. Peng.
I purchase Webber Turmeric Curcumin 3650 mg per pill. The effect is stomach discomfort. Is there an effective amount below the amount I have?
I have taken both of them but moringa really helped my inflamed knee.
How long did you take moringa before it started working.
@@dougferguson5581 three days!
Do I need to stop the turmeric and curcumin supplement after the PRP injections? And if yea for how long?
What are your thoughts on BPC-157 and it's MOA. It's a gastric enzyme derived compound that increases VEGF in low oxygenated regions increases TGF and IGF-1. Some trials show lot's of promise from a different vector; healing as opposed to modifying opiod system or inflammation via COX or other pathways.
I think the future holds a lot of promise for all these new discoveries of chemicals and proteins. And with synthetic biology and AI coming out with even more possibilities, the future is exciting. But I really only keep track of what has been published in randomized controlled trials as well as systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Otherwise, there is too much to keep up with!
Sir,
My wife aged 68 is suffering from Knee Osteoarthritis.DO you recommend turmeric supplement to her.Which brand you recommend?
With regards.
I did not see any mention of black pepper which would help turmeric for the body to use
Inspiring . Hoping one day you will come up with a renedy to bring back cartilage
Hopefully one day
When getting PRP is it possible that you have multiple vials of blood taken for the centrifuge to get multiple tendons done in a single day?
Sure. Or you can just draw the blood into a bigger tube and then separate out how much you need for each tendon.
Dear Dr. Peng,💛✨
I am an Ayurvedic Doctor who uses turmeric on a weekly basis to help with my arthritis. I agree with your advice on the dosage of turmeric.
Turmeric is more effective if it is cooked for 40 minutes in the heirloom tomato base organic of course with a pinch of black pepper.
Thank You For You video on shoulder pinching, I got excellent relief within minutes after years of uncomfortable pain.🙏💛💛💛

Pls give how I should cope up with this. I don’t have pain .pls reply me as it will be helpful 🙏🏻
Excellent video Doc! Will turmeric help with chronic bursitis of the hip?
In theory the anti-inflammatory effects should help
Didn’t help at all with my hip bursitis
I had r/ hop
Bursitis. The MD decided to inject my hip .. he added Kenalog to steroids to act fast. Ties out my efforts yo forewarn the MD that I was allergic to Kenalog &
Plz don’t add to
Snd Tx of me snd my bursitis. He played stupid and injected it anyway. I wss post menapausalmsnd stsrted having a very smelly & clotted me derail period I shoulcnr have had and I reported to
ThevMD. He acted stupid… but I asked another MD in the practices) a physiatrist)!Nout being told that some can’t take the Lenaloh shot snd he regretfully said I was taught that in school! I discussed it w/ the PhsrmD st my pharmacy & he believes my pitustory wss stimulated! Itsmelled sooo bsd! I’m reluctant to let him touch me after he fibbed anoint the Kenalog additive and my prior MD adding it for allergy preventions!
Be careful! I
Will corrorate that Curcumin & Turmeric w/ black
Pepper can
Reduce pain w/ o causing harm! Good luck!!
I make small batches of turmeric paste on stove with turmeric, water, coconut oil and pepper. Take twice a day. Been doing this for years. Really reduces pain. Is there any suggestions to enhance this or to be mindful of?
Thanks for sharing
I have Von Willebrands disease. What would you recommend I use for my knee OA?
Best to discuss with your health care provider, good luck
What about hip arthritis?
I don’t know how it works, but absolutely as I began to take Tumeric capsules my finger joint stopped being painful in about 2 weeks.
Nice!
T and C...good or bad during prp treatment? If prp is a holistic approach isn't it best to avoid all "outside help" and let the placelettes do there thing?
I haven't found any evidence that turmeric interferes with PRP. In theory, it *might*. So if you want to be extra careful, discontinue to turmeric. But it's probably fine.
I also watch and a subscriber to the Motivation Doctor Alan Mandell from South Florida as he is great with all of his Videos.
Probably need things like magnesium manganese different sources of calcium that are all natural could go on and on and on couldn't we talk about it tomorrow
Dr. What Mg of Turmeric/Curcumin would you recommend for osteo knees?
We're not sure of the "best" dose yet, but most studies use 1000mg once a day
@JeffreyPengMD is that 1000 mg of curcumin or of turmeric?
If we stop taking NSAIDS before during and after PRP, shouldn't we also stop anti-inflammatory supplements such as fish oil, turmeric and ginger for the same reason!! :)
NSAIDs work by inhibiting platelet aggregation. This is why we hold them when performing PRP injections. There is no evidence that fish oil, turmeric, ginger, etc affect platelet function in vivo.
Dr. Peng can you take turmeric curcumin with PRP injections ?
Yes, I haven't seen any data to suggest turmeric interferes with PRP
@@JeffreyPengMD Thank you!
At least he can say it correctly
What are the dose they take?
1000mg to 2000mg of turmeric (curcuma longa extract) per day
Can i take it after prp injection ??
Yes, there is no evidence that turmeric affects platelet function.
Is it 1000-2000 mg each of tumeric and curcumin or combined? Is one brand of supplement better than the next? How do you know/where do you find the highest quality turmeric and cur-cumin supplements?
Technically it's turmeric (curcuma longa extract). Unfortunately supplements are not regulated by the FDA and purity is a major concern. From time to time, we hear of bad actors "spiking" supplements with additional substances which can cause serious side effects. You'll want to stick with "reputable" manufacturers which of course is also debated. This is a long winded way of saying we don't yet have a complete list of the highest quality supplements.
@@JeffreyPengMD any that you recommend or your patients have used?
@@leslieadler9081 I haven't found one to be better than others. Honestly, whatever is most convenient makes sense as long as the dose is correct (ie. costco brand or whatever is available on Amazon)
@@JeffreyPengMD thank you. Looking forward to video on weight loss and osteoarthritis
The first and last time I tried Turmeric/Curcimin I broke out in itchy rash in several areas. Face n neck included.
What else can you recommend and dosage?
Please?
Better than Glucosamine/Chondroitin??
Yup (according to clinical trials!). Everyone's body is different
@@JeffreyPengMD Would it be ok to take both Tumeric and Glucosamine? I have ankle pain
After seeing three different orthopedic specialists not one mentioned turmeric/curcumin. All they were suggesting are the usual NSAIDS. Could they really be so ignorant of these alternatives?
Yes. Not at any fault of their own. This is not taught or given any emphasis in western medical training.
My mom takes curcumin for her arthritis
Nice!
Always show studies not funded by the companies that sell the product....thanks
Thanks for commenting
Tiptoe on that curriculum don't want to piss anyone off my bad again
The problem is...supplements are not covered by insurance!
Sure... but they are generally very affordable. A dose of 1000mg of turmeric is anywhere between 10-20 cents per day.
Took my weight in goody powders don't recommend that turmeric twice daily inventory on the food and other bad habits
I am using turmeric/curcumin faithfully in capsule form. Have not experienced any improvement with my osteoarthritis. Waste of money!!!!
Oh and then there's the fact that remove the inflammation in the body can now heal itself instead of getting worse my bad for saying so I calls um like i sees um
Extreme Caution If You're Taking Blood Thinners!!!
And for all you exports out there it's not toomeric and it's not too muric it's turmeric like turkey or turban repeat after me again splitting hairs with love
No it does not help sore knees just a waste of time used it for years no help at all
