I’m not expecting this video to do very well but consider this a bit roundup of all the shows I missed/didn’t get a chance to talk about! A little passion project of mine to finally talk in depth about animation on here
MAWS definitely helped change my perspective on Superman. I used to think too that he is too over powered to be a good character until i watched the show. And my favourite is obviously *[title card]*
In defence of the 2010s shows I grew up with avengers assemble and ultimate spider man also the guardians of the galaxy and it gives me so much nostalgia and I think they are very underrated
I agree we really don’t need a invincible movie because the animated series has been fantastic in my opinion and as a huge fan of the comics this has been best adaptation of this source material in my opinion
@@TevyaSmolka then how does your point even hold up anymore. it doesnt matter if it was live action or animated, it might be even better in live action compared to the current level of animation invincible has right now
My adventures with Superman is not just my favorite super hero show but also my favorite show of all time. I don’t even consider myself a Superman fan but this show had me at its first episode. I absolutely adore the characters and how their personalities bounce off eachother. I love how deeply personal the story is with it focusing far more on the characters than anything else. I also love the art style and the simplicity of it allows for some amazing fight scenes! This show is just incredible. The season 2 finale had me in tears and had me cheering which i haven’t done since Avengers Endgame so that is saying A LOT. It’s a shame that WB doesn’t do much marketing for this show. I’ve honestly done more marketing for this thing just by talking to my friends about it.
I watched Hit-Monkey for the first time a few weeks ago after I saw Xavier from GodzillaMendoza talk about and it was totally worth it. That show actually rules.
Invincible is nothing like the boys at all. Why do people compare them? Its probably because theyre both non kid friendly non marvel or dc comic book shows that air on amazon. Thats where the similarities end. In my opinion invincible > the boys.
I think the best case scenario for the Invincible live action adaptation is to either have it take place after the show ends or to make it focused on side characters (maybe a guarding the globe movie)
It's great seeing animation get some love. I also grew up with superhero cartoons and I enjoy seeing the variety we have now. I would say My Adventures with Superman is my fav since I love Superman. It's great seeing this, great video
I think my favorite animated superhero show would be avengers earth’s mightiest heroes. They got so many cool villains and they flesh out their characters so well. Also the opening is so iconic
I’m genuinely hoping we get more animated shows set in the same world as X-Men 97! Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Hulk, etc. I’d LOVE it if they revived that universe!! There’s SO MANY stories they could adapt since X-Men was allowed to mature with the audience!! 😁😁

Batman Caped Crusader (season 2) - The Fall of Rupert Thorne and being replace by a villain like Black Mask or The Ventriloquist & Scarface (representing the fall of the average mobsters and the rise of the super villains). - Batman and Joker first meeting (taking inspiration from the "Man who laughs" storyline, written by Ed Brubaker) - An episode showing Batman fighting Hugo Strange and his Monster Men. - The introduction of Scarecrow and he teaming up with Harley Quinn (since they are both mad psychiatrist) - The introduction of Harold, Batman's mechanic from the 80's/90's. - The return of Selina Kyle and her becoming the anti-hero from Ed Brubaker run. Maybe they could even have Selina once again taking inspiration from Batman (who would probably begin to work more with Gordon) and creating her own gang, including her sidekick Holly Robinson. - Bruce Wayne taking a more active role, using his company to make Gotham a better place and help the people of the city.
Animated stuff truly does not get the respect it deserves, luckily I was born in the early 90s and I grew up with the animation renaissance from Marvel like X-Men The Animated Series and Spider-Man The Animated Series or with DC like Batman The Animated Series and Superman The Animated Series seriously these were the days 😭🤘🔥, I freaking love that animation is making a huge comeback now and days thank God for this also love the Hit-Monkey mention Lol 🙌

I watched direct comic to animation adaptation shows, like invincible and the boys (kinda) look at japan every anime is a direct manga adaptation, I want more comic book tv shows that are directly adapted into animation
Yeah I love animated series more than Live action and animated movies. Also I hated when they replaced Avengers EMH & Spectacular Spiderman for these animated knock offs of the MCU plus the 2017 Spiderman show was no better. But my biggest problem with animation nowadays is they have way too few episodes a season only 8 or 10. That's not enough time to tell a compelling serialized story without things feeling rushed. Hopefully that will change in a few years.
Hopefully WB's animation can survive. WB cut their animation department by more than half since the merger with Discovery. And WB Discovery is not in good financial shape. They've managed to cut down their debt but they're having some big money problems. They may have to sell or license off more of their franchises to stay afloat.
Yeah WB is always so unreliable nowadays with how poorly that company is running, so if the DCU isn’t a success I fear for their side of animation in the future
live action has always been second to animation for me. the creative possibilities with animation is irreplicable, and ironically it just makes the show seem more realistic.

All the recent comic books animated shows have been truly amazing. The only exception that I was quite disappointed with was Batman Caped Crusader. I was always intrigued but cautiously optimistic about the show. The trailers never really blew me away and I haven't really been a fan of Bruce Timm's recent work so I was a bit trepidatious about watching it. After having seen the whole show, sadly I did not think it was particularly worth the the wait. I didn't think the show was bad at all, but sadly the way I would describe it is as disappointingly average. The pacing I thought was extremely inconsistent and at times didn't even feel like a Batman show and instead felt more like Gotham Central. Batman as a character I didn't find nearly as compelling in any of the previous Batman animated shows and while I thought Hamish Linklater's Bruce Wayne voice was really great, his Batman voice I thought it was extremely stiff and at times felt like a parody. Most of the conflicts with the villains always felt like they came to a very rushed anti-climactic conclusion that never left me wanting for more. The runtime of a lot of the episodes also felt unnecessarily short and with it being on a streaming service it was unnecessary. Also one thing I was worried about from the trailers was the animation seemed a bit underwhelming and having seen the show in its entirety I still feel completely this way. The animation is consistently pretty lacklustre. Characters stay completely frozen, the frame rate is extremely inconsistent (and not in an artistic way), the CG cars can be distractingly rendered most of the time and just generally the characters seem to lack a sense of fluidity whenever they move. The character I was most looking forward to seeing in the show and one I thought Caped Crusader handled far better than BTAS is Catwoman. BTAS I always felt had a very disappointing Catwoman and focused too much on her being an animal activist than the classic cat burglar aspect of the character and I always disliked that in BTAS she didn't regard Bruce Wayne and was only interested in Batman because in the comics Catwoman was always attracted to both Bruce and Batman, which thankfully they did in Caped Crusader. Although I still think by far the best animated Catwoman is the one voiced by Gina Gershon in The Batman 2004 series. With everything I've said, would I personally recommend the show to anyone? Sadly, probably not. If I were to recommend a recent animated comic book show to anyone, I feel shows like Invincible, X-Men '97, My Adventures With Superman and Hit-Monkey tell far more interesting stories and are of vastly superior quality. Here's hoping the upcoming Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man animated series is good.
When it comes to the dark age shows i personally dont know why people hate on em. I know they tried to copy the mcu especially the avengers and tbh ult spiderman wasnt that bad when i was a kid but that might be the matter of my age and yje fact that i watched it in my language so the dialouge was better maybe. But the last thing i want to say is the GOTG show WHICH I WATCHED AND REMEMBER actually took on the looks and some similarities from the movie but kept its story closer to the comics which was unique and unlike what you said
To be honest, seeing how DC has handled movies, canceling Bat Girl doesn't seem like such a bad idea... especially when it was going to be a new universe that wasn't going to have anything to do with James Gunn's.
Imo Invincible Season 1 is way Better than Season 2 since I think that it was Incredibly overstuffed and that they're were WAY too many stuff happening and I wish that they saved the Multiverse stuff for Season 3 but Oh well.
While do I agree that Invincible wouldnt really work in Live action that well I hate the mindset that ''We Dont Need It/one'' bc if you really think about it we dont realy need a Live Action Spider-Man, Batman, Justice League or an Avengers Movie yet we still got one. none of these are ever truly needed we Just want them.
That’s very true honestly! I didn’t consider it like that bc I guess I grew up with them already being adapted but that mindset is very restrictive. I should’ve focused more on why it shouldn’t be adapted rather than just saying “we don’t need it”

I have to say I have always preffered animation over live action as the movies and shows are better by far than their live action counterparts as they not only look better but cost less and are easier to make, and the studios change these characters and try to bring them into the real world which I don't really like as these characters are too cartoonish to bring into our world, which is why I am glad we are getting more animation. Also to the people who say animation is for kids only, does this mean bloody shows like invincible are for kids as it is animated? And the spiderverse movies are also animated does this mean they are also for kids? And what aboit X-men 97 which was made for the people who grew up with the series and loterally has blood characters getting killed is also for kids? Please use better logic just because something is animated that doesn't mean it's only for kids.
Am i the only one who doesn't like My Adventures With Superman? I've seen clips of it and got turned off by how uncomfortable i felt while watching. On top of that, it's made by the same people behind the She-Ra reboot :/
I mean the title of the video is weird but it is true animation has been great this year and not just with superhero shows, I have always liked animation more than love action and I am glad it's back and there was a somewhat drought in the 2010s with only a few shows being good and just getting canceled
Very untrue. The BTAS era is the best it has ever been. 92 is decent, but my adventures with Superman, Caped Crusader, Invincible, Harley Quinn, etc. all fall flat.
As a superman fan MAWS is painfully mid. And in a lot of ways he really doesn't act like superman...It's not awful by any means but the character of superman feels a lot more like shazam than superman.
What's sad is that in 10 years, we'll have a generation of Gen Alpha kids that grew up on the uninspired cartoons of the 2010s like Ultimate Spider-man and Marvel's Avengers, just like the Gen Z and young millennials that claim the Star Wars prequels were good, even before the Clone Wars fixed everything.
I’m not expecting this video to do very well but consider this a bit roundup of all the shows I missed/didn’t get a chance to talk about! A little passion project of mine to finally talk in depth about animation on here

the era of 90's to late 2010s seems long but it was consistently good to great, the current era represented by the shows you brought up is just a little better than the dark age. in 10 or so years people will still talk about DCAU and the other great show from the era, caped crusader and my adventures with superman will not be looked upon positively once the next show surpasses it because it wont be hard.
apologies if this came across as aggressive i just think the current era is overhyped an i personally think all these modern shows for the most part CC and MAWS are poorly made and written along with personal grips i have with the creative direction of these shows.
regardless thanks for reading.
Bro didn't even talk about arcane season 2 coming in november
Ok Arcane is peak
Watch primal
Am i the only one who doesn't like My Adventures With Superman? I've seen clips of it and got turned off by how uncomfortable i felt while watching. On top of that, it's made by the same people behind the She-Ra reboot :/
@@adamshafeeq8685 why were you uncomfortable?
@@cypher06sonic because I'm currently in my "no longer interested in anime phase" plus the show feels immature
@@adamshafeeq8685 ehh, each to their own I guess, for a second there I thought you were gonna do an SJW take or smth
@@cypher06sonic I'm sick of SJWs too
Clearly, you never saw the superhero cartoons from the 90s, 2000s, and early 2010s. Otherwise, this video would have never been made.
@@superstarultra28 yeah idk what this guy is Talking about lmao
I mean the title of the video is weird but it is true animation has been great this year and not just with superhero shows, I have always liked animation more than love action and I am glad it's back and there was a somewhat drought in the 2010s with only a few shows being good and just getting canceled
Not golden era l + fortnite gyat rizz
Very untrue. The BTAS era is the best it has ever been. 92 is decent, but my adventures with Superman, Caped Crusader, Invincible, Harley Quinn, etc. all fall flat.
Shounens Animes clear of this Cartoons 🤣🤣😭
As a superman fan MAWS is painfully mid. And in a lot of ways he really doesn't act like superman...It's not awful by any means but the character of superman feels a lot more like shazam than superman.
What's sad is that in 10 years, we'll have a generation of Gen Alpha kids that grew up on the uninspired cartoons of the 2010s like Ultimate Spider-man and Marvel's Avengers, just like the Gen Z and young millennials that claim the Star Wars prequels were good, even before the Clone Wars fixed everything.
what do you mean in 10 years that's already happening with ultimate Spider-Man seriously look it up
4:39 I wish young justice got it’s animated film
0:53 one got a film but the other one…
