I can sing praises to Spectacular all day long, but what I do want to mention is it's great Eddie was made into Peter's friend here instead of just some random rival reporter as he usually is, it gave Parker and Brock more chemistry and it also made Venom seem more dangerous and probably the best on-screen version of him so far. Plus, you gotta give Spectacular Peter a point for how much of a player he is. 90s Parker may be the handsome one, but it's this Pete who almost got to date 3 girls at once and almost charm Betty Brant as part of his collection.
Spectacular takes elements from his and Pete's dynamic in the Venom arc in the ultimate comics (but Eddie isn't a fucking creep towards kids in this so he's automatically better than his ultimate counterpart)
They took a page out of the Ultimate comics, in that series he and Eddie are childhood friends who reconnect when Peter is 15 and Eddie is 18. After some close friendship moments, Peter gets the black suit from something Eddie showed him, Eddie learns he basically stole it, then gets processed by it, then he’s venom and hates him. This series did it better with showcasing a closer friendship turned rivalry and I feel like if the series continued and they did the carnage story, they might have somewhat rekindled their friendship. I could see them reaching an understanding and Eddie leaves for San Francisco and Peter letting him go instead of taking away the symbiote and arresting him.
I'm glad you got to this. For me for a long time I didn't like that scene of Peter blaming Spider-Man for what happened when it was his fault. Peter caused a lot of the problems himself, didn't tell his friends what he was doing, and took the pictures himself. He blamed Spider-Man as a outlit because most of the time people will blame others for their own mistakes. This was a learning process for Peter. His fight against Shocker made Peter reinforced Peter's resolve to take care of Aunt May. Thanks for another great video, I love this show so much. I really hope we see more of him in Beyond
Agreed. Honestly, a lot of problems would be avoided if Peter was more mindful of his choices. He could have not taken those pictures at the time and waited for another opportunity that wouldn’t put Peter Parker in the crosshairs, He could have not tried out for the football team, etc. Picking and choosing what you can and can’t do, not overloading yourself, and not making promises or meeting people’s expectations and being bold enough to stand up for yourself about it is the smarter thing to do. Heck, when I was his age, I never did more than I needed to and my friends never had big expectations of me. When it mattered most I did what I could. I made some mistakes, but I didn’t let it get me down.
"as many problems as Spiderman brings to Peters life, it is also potentially his greatest source of joy" is such an interesting idea and is so true! please do a video on that, it would be really interesting!
What pissed me off about this show was that Eddie gets mad at Peter for being a coward at first, but later he gets the knowledge that he was really helping as Spiderman and he's still mad at him.
Yeah that was something I thought about when looking back in the series. I think at that point he’s just so angry he wants someone to blame. Like in season 2 when the symbiote separates for him he says it only “loves him for the hate” so I think for Eddie it’s just more about the ideal of hating Spider-Man/Peter than him actually really hating him
You weren’t exaggerating when you say this show understood balance because let’s not forget what Aunt May told Peter about Balance back in the Spider-Man 2 video game for ps5.
23:28 You say that and funnily enough, Peter and MJ's daughter, May "Mayday" Parker, is on her school's basketball team in the MC2 universe. Also, I REALLY needed to hear that message in the end.
This is going to be awesome! (Was hanging out with some cousins, so missed this when it dropped.) I LOVE Spectacular Spider-Man. It's such a funny, witty, action-packed show. It's truly spectacular.
6:47 This episode is my favorite example of what Peter Parker is at his core. He will without second thought sacrifice everything in his normal life to help others.
15:03 see this is very interesting, since the episode quite literally said he wouldn’t be able to work )and ultimately be of real help to Aunt May) for much longer without investing in himself. A lesson all young people should learn as early as possible. This show is truly spectacular
20:00 Peter has got a point. Sports are basically competetive natural talent comparison mixed with training, and of the training evens out, then that leaves the natural talent. The issue isn't how good he is at football, at all. Ignoring his hero duties, sure, but that is a different issue.
Eh, sure, but his “talents” aren’t really natural at all. It was a straight up genetic mutation, he got superpowers, he’s _superhuman._ Clearly way beyond the scope of typical human abilities. He’s not even really good at football, he’s just impossible to catch or overpower; by default he wins without even needing to learn the sport proper or needing strategic skill nor cooperation, which are focal points of the sport in question. He’s not good at football because of his “talents”, his superhuman abilities make him good at _any_ sport that measures standard human ability, having an unfair advantage as someone way beyond the peak of human ability
This has been really insightful. I play a Spider-Man character in a superhero TTRPG with friends and this show in particular is what I look to for inspiration. You putting it into words the benefits and drawbacks of power and responsibility have really helped me get ideas for how I wanna further the arcs my Spidey is going down.
one thing i remembered and really loved about this show is how eddie brock came to hate peter, and eventually came to be venom partially because of it. it didnt feel shoehorned into the story, and just felt like a natural consequence of peter's decisions, instead of an irrational "i hate peter and i want him to die just bc i think hes kind of an ass" whim feeling eddie has. imo, there were two major events that turned eddie against peter in this way, of which i can unfortunately only remember one, until i rewatch the show again: 1) the ep in s1 where peter chooses to run away from esu lab after kurt connors turns into the lizard, seemingly abandoning the innocent wife and child of kurt conners, as well as his friends (gwen and eddie), who are staying behind to risk their lives to try to help this really bad situation. and as stated in the video, ofc we know he's not actually running away, hes just doing his rite of passage in order to become spiderman, so that he can actually SAVE everyone, but no one except him knows that, and no one except him is ALLOWED to know that, bc of the implications of peter revealing his identity. the cherry on top of this already messed up cake is that, as stated in the video, peter uses this opportunity to secure a position at the daily bugle (out of his responsibility to help aunt may with the bills, so again another noble act), by taking pictures of himself as he fights the lizard. to the audience, this looks like a stroke of selfless genius, in which peter is able to help his aunt whilst simultaneously saving everyone from the lizard, but becomes really messed up when you view it from the lens of gwen and (in this case) ESPECIALLY eddie, who dont know peter is spiderman; "my friend decided to abandon us and dr conner's wife and child, and instead decided to use this opportunity to take photos for some stupid contest whilst our LIVES were in danger. what a dick." 2) something in s2, which im pretty sure involved how peter acted towards eddie or something related to that whilst being possessed by the venom symbiote, which i also - as i stated earlier - unfortunately cannot remember rn; i hope i remember this video, so that i can come back to edit this comment once ive conducted my analytical rewatch of spectacular spiderman 🔥 the first event was a big turning point, which left eddie feeling really upset and disappointed at peter, and the second event being the turning point, in which peter absolutely butchers the second chance given to him by eddie, which in turn ruins whatever was left of their friendship and causes eddie to hate him. TL,DR: this show's writing is so good. the way in how eddie slowly came to hate peter and thus his transformation into venom was done so well in my opinion.
Ngl your content is great overall. I’m new to the channel and your content is really well edited, it’s informative, and the story of each video flows really well. Great job man you’re doing great. Is it bad for me to say not only do I empathize with this version of Peter the most, but the fact that I feel like everyone in his web of connections take him for granted? Regardless of them knowing his secret identity or not? I mean damn, the man never gets a break and he still gives his best to people. I feel like we all feel like then, the start living for ourselves. We just can’t forget that sense of responsibility
It makes me crazy happy to see a spectacular spider-man video from you. It was my favorite show as a kid and you brought up a lot of great stuff about the themes of responsibility that I missed the real depth of back then
I’ve seen a lot of patron shoutouts over the years, but that transition into it is the only one I can call fucking perfect. Great video overall man, keep it up. And thank you for that message at the end, I needed that. 😊

I don’t understand why they haven’t looked at the internet and see that we’ve been wanting this show to come back for decades now. 17:04 I was already starting as a teenager when watching this show when it debut and I just had a birthday days ago and all these yrs since 2008, I still don’t understand the meaning behind that joke; what does it even mean? Someone please help me out because I never understood teen drama that teens whine about because I only went to school to focus on the task at hand; so focused that any girl who asked me out, I rejected them because dating doesn’t get my grades up. So someone, PLEASE, tell me the meaning behind that joke that makes him shudder, I don’t get it.
In the spider society he reasons towards miles about the truth about officers being captain but Miles took no notice from the members aligned with Miguel and the former gang that joined with him which is the betrayal started after the chase
i only wish they beat him up more. the lizard episode and the doc ock underwater lair episode were great. i was hoping and praying they would bring lizard back because he’s always one of his most formidable foes, but alas. the venom bits were really good and they made up for that a lot, but i was a little unsatisfied in the “beat peter up” department. the show honestly did make up for it with his emotional turmoil though
...I don't think ending only in 2 seasons of 26 eps (out of a presumably planned 52 ep run, no less) with a soul-crushing unresolved cliffhanger is "BALANCED" in any sense.
hilarious wasted opportunity for a wink towards the audience when peter unwillingly alienates everyone he wanted to stay friends with "i have nothing left, except spider-man"
I think peter has a false sense of responsibility. he thinks since he is spider man he has to help every single person that asks for help while he constantly puts others needs above himself and thats his mistake. if you at some point dont value yourself enough you do others youll probably have a really hard time having progress in your life
The key is to pick your battles wisely and be mindful of your own needs. Not in a selfish way, but in a way that solidifies your self-respect to other people. If I can't do something for someone that is not a serious or am unable to, I'm not going to promise them anything or let them hold it over my head. It's one thing if I were to genuinely disregard them and flake, its another if I am unable to or its just not so important that they can't do it without me.
I'm a bit relieved that the show ended i couldn't stomach a Gwen death imo a Mj getting with Peter only after Gwens death is not good writing sex shouldn't be therapy (Idk just my opinion)
He is literally just the exact age where he would be able to get a drivers license and he is using that time to fight a monster lizard and having to deal with and make decisions that involve the lives of other people. Realistically a kid should not have that kind of responsibility on their shoulders at such a young age with no one to guide him.
@ I’m an adult, genius. I don’t see a 16 year old as some little boy. Not to mention the responsibilities I had to deal with as a teenager. So spare me the crap

Honestly, I watched this in full... But it gets overhyped often. The 90s show and the one that has Miles are both far better illustrated, written, and voiced. Sure, this is better than the first cartoon, and one with Nova... But still not 'the best' version, despite what so many claim.
While the 90s is good do not say it was better voiced when you have classic examples like the shocker meme. Though that was more iconic I guess it was not voice acted well. The symbiotic story in the 90s was peak though and set the standard for almost all further stories around the black suit. I liked the 90s animated show but the voice acting could varies from time to time but the writing was well done or at least consistent.
@@bannerbold1076 not every single take is better, certainly, but the vast majority feel like their character, with a touch of realistic emotion and a touch of camp. That fit the direction of the show. A lot of the voice acting in the Spectacular Spider-Man, on the other hand, tends to come across without nearly as much emotion, and is generally soft-spoken if there isn't much action in a scene. It makes sense when Peter Parker is acting meek, but the majority of other characters are as well. Compare that to the majority not only in the 90s Spider-Man, but 1980s-early 2000s superhero cartoons. They were bringing the absurdities of the comics to animation, including how intense scenes were intended to be when needed, and full of pathos as well. Not everything got there, but likewise, even the lowered tone of Spectacular Spider-Man hit even lower in parts.
I understood Peter's decision NOT to immediately help May with the bills but instead save up for his new camera. He was told that his pictures need to be better quality to maintain his position as a photographer at the newspaper so in the longrun he made the right decision.
And that’s what made the conflict so great and so realistic. You could genuinely see it from both sides and really not blame Peter

imo, there were two major events that turned eddie against peter in this way, of which i can unfortunately only remember one, until i rewatch the show again:
1) the ep in s1 where peter chooses to run away from esu lab after kurt connors turns into the lizard, seemingly abandoning the innocent wife and child of kurt conners, as well as his friends (gwen and eddie), who are staying behind to risk their lives to try to help this really bad situation.

2) something in s2, which im pretty sure involved how peter acted towards eddie or something related to that whilst being possessed by the venom symbiote, which i also - as i stated earlier - unfortunately cannot remember rn; i hope i remember this video, so that i can come back to edit this comment once ive conducted my analytical rewatch of spectacular spiderman 🔥
the first event was a big turning point, which left eddie feeling really upset and disappointed at peter, and the second event being the turning point, in which peter absolutely butchers the second chance given to him by eddie, which in turn ruins whatever was left of their friendship and causes eddie to hate him.
TL,DR: this show's writing is so good. the way in how eddie slowly came to hate peter and thus his transformation into venom was done so well in my opinion.

A girl with a “Wonderful Personality” is ugly, it’s a shitty joke honestly
Lore of Spectacular Spider-Man Understood Balance momentum 100
5 mins in the video and I have already started the show
I believe Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will follow suit.
Batman: TAS, PLEASE?
Other channels cover that heavily but he will get to it later
In the spider society he reasons towards miles about the truth about officers being captain but Miles took no notice from the members aligned with Miguel and the former gang that joined with him which is the betrayal started after the chase
00:01 ABSOLUTE CINEMA🤷🏾♂️
Shout out Randy🫶
We love Rand
Spider-Man 2 is another top tier Spider-Man Medium that understood balance the best
i will never forgive disney for causing this show to be cancelled. its the best
holy shit hobie reference 18:44
i only wish they beat him up more. the lizard episode and the doc ock underwater lair episode were great. i was hoping and praying they would bring lizard back because he’s always one of his most formidable foes, but alas. the venom bits were really good and they made up for that a lot, but i was a little unsatisfied in the “beat peter up” department. the show honestly did make up for it with his emotional turmoil though
Great video
"so what if nobody threw a parade?" yeah, this was peak
Randy was a g
Yes he was
I grew up on 90s, and I have some issues with Spectacular, but I still say Spectacular is the best Spider-Man show overall.
If you think about it, Peter had some pretty entitled friends 😂😂
Hope you're having a good day
...I don't think ending only in 2 seasons of 26 eps (out of a presumably planned 52 ep run, no less) with a soul-crushing unresolved cliffhanger is "BALANCED" in any sense.
the skyrim music is peak
Im trying to watch the superman and spidermanmovies so updated
I couldn't stop myself from giggling a little bit every time bro slurred a word randomly.
I like the new Spider-Man they have on UA-cam marvel hq it’s very good
Just realized hobie brown 😂😂😂😂😂 is spider punk
17:05 I don’t get it…
What’s the joke?
Any hope for a Savage dragon video
On this channel…probably not my friend
Peter parker biggest issue is that he's not selfish enough
Yknow after watching this video I realized something….. Harry’s a terrible friend😂😂😂😂
what app you use for edit?
hilarious wasted opportunity for a wink towards the audience
when peter unwillingly alienates everyone he wanted to stay friends with
"i have nothing left, except spider-man"
What skyrim song is this
hey can you do another review on spider man tas or x men tas
Dude no i cant with that spider stuf crawling on my screen its annoying
I'm a bit relieved that the show ended i couldn't stomach a Gwen death imo a Mj getting with Peter only after Gwens death is not good writing sex shouldn't be therapy (Idk just my opinion)
Hobie?
I still don’t get the personality joke
Joke is girls with “great personality’s” are ugly. It’s a shitty joke
5:10 I don’t see why and how Peter being 16 years old has to do with anything.
He is literally just the exact age where he would be able to get a drivers license and he is using that time to fight a monster lizard and having to deal with and make decisions that involve the lives of other people.
Realistically a kid should not have that kind of responsibility on their shoulders at such a young age with no one to guide him.
In other words he’s a kid handling the world on his shoulders. You don’t understand that because you’re a kid your self.
@ I’m an adult, genius. I don’t see a 16 year old as some little boy. Not to mention the responsibilities I had to deal with as a teenager. So spare me the crap
@@francostevo9939 but you cant see being 16 means you’re literally a child? You hit up girls who are 16?
@ hit girls who are 16??!!! The hell are you talking about???!!! 16 yrs olds are minors!!!

And then ATS ruined it.
@ looking at it from that angle then I would have to say you’re right.
