Dr Grande missed a very important point in Don’s history, he SA’d his step sister when she was 5 until 12 when Don went to prison at age 17. Immediately upon his return from prison, he went to the step sisters room to abuse her. There is extensive SA history on the mother’s side as well. Summer didn’t stand a chance in this environment.
And what about candus bly’s missing sister that was never found or solved from i think iowa or idaho where they both ( parents) have criminal history in the state as well. ????? How did he not mention this at all ???!!!!!
Too many children have suffered this way. What’s disturbing is that she is all alone in the truth of what’s happened. Thank you for bringing it to light so I can pray for this sweet girl, Dr. G. 💔
So let me get this straight... Your daughter goes "missing" in the middle of the afternoon in "only two minutes of not being supervised" but you let your OTHER three children then go roam around on the property for three hours looking for their sister where there are bears and other wildlife which the MOTHER is afraid of? Then you state to the media that you "both knew it was an abduction immediately." But you still let your three other children go out on said property where there could have been this said abductor waiting to grab them also potentially? I'm just checking to make sure I have this straight. Good Grief.
I’ve followed this case since like July. I disagree with this video and I agree with you, wth, I think the whole “playing hide and seek” was the parents saying “pretend you are playing hide and seek” Candus and Don are very good at deception in someways. Their criminality shouldn’t be down played.
I feel so terrible for this sweet little baby. Her brothers as well. Theres so much craziness going on with this case. Thank you so much for covering it. 💜🌵🌲🌿🌵
Thank you. This is the first straightforward and honest interpretation of the events as we know them that I have seen. I am reminded of the JonBenet Ramsey case and the many mistakes of the Denver Police and the Denver community. In the words of the song "Harper Valley PTA, "This is just a little Peyton Place and you're all Harper Valley hypocrites."
Summer saved her bros lives tho! Glad they will get a chance with q healthy life with foster parents. They dont want to go back! CANDUS BEAT HER 1st 2 & r in foster care bc Rose, was caring for them but disappeared also.
I was a court reporter for 30 years in L.A. and SLO, and I could hug you for that comment about the police spending less time on social media and worrying about their image and more time actually investigating real evidence. 🤨🙄
Carolyn McMickle, Actually that is not true at all. There have been over a thousand tips turned into Local LE, TBI, off social media, that where a waste of time & resources. They aren't sitting on social media. That was BS.
Social media has the answers. Everyone reads social media and the answer to the mystery can be found there. I am hoping the person who knows what happened will get a conscience and take someone to where Summer's body is laid to rest. The kind of post I am posting is here so that person will read it and hopefully end this mystery.
@@loriedwards4953 Actually she’s spot on! Ask Tara Grinstead’s family how it is to have people report who murdered your daughter to the police for over a decade without them doing a damn thing!! It doesn’t matter if there’s a million bad tips in there, the fact that there could be even ONE credible one means they’re not doing their job if they’re not investigating EVERY SINGLE ONE!!!!
Right. What are the odds. Don is as disgusting as they come! Then there is the theory that a friend of the church snatched her to keep her out of harms way. Trifecta
The abduction theory holds no weight with me. They have around 10 dogs who, according to neighbours, are always barking when visitors approach the house. I cannot believe an abductor could get in to the house without the dogs going crazy.
Unless it was someone known to the family. The dogs might not have barked at someone who visited often. When I first read your comment, the quote "There is no honor among thieves " came to mind.
@@Somegirl811 He did say that Don has a 30-something year old son with a history of sexual troubles, so your uncle theory could very well be true, but step brother instead. That age difference would put him more in an uncle role most likely.
My grandparents live out there and I’ll just say this: that’s rough country. The people are very hardened and close knit. Lots of drugs. LOTS of drugs. Lots of child abuse. Family secrets. Lots of people “stuck” there with very few options in life. The landscape itself is hot, thick, steep, and full of snakes, bears and coyotes. I can’t imagine a scenario in which she is still alive out there 2 months on. :(
thanks for that information, I am in the east coast usa. The videos show a beautiful area but i can see that it's rough terrain...hot...steep...just as you state.
I'm legit lost on this case. I do think it's far more likely than Dr. Grande believes that her parents or another family member killed her or she died accidentally and they covered it up. I think Dr. Grande doesn't fully realize just how well rural Americans can keep a big secret, with several people knowing and nobody telling the police. Dr. Grande is right in that these people don't exactly seem like criminal masterminds who could disappear their daughter and all evidence this well. I lean more towards someone targeting the girl for some reason. I don't think it likely she wandered into the wilderness and died, but I think it's more likely than Dr. Grande suggests. The fact that she's "never done that before" seems like poor logic considering if she did it before she would have likely gotten lost and died before.
Growing up in rural Tennessee myself, you know not to walk of into the woods alone like that. Especially without shoes. There's black widows, copperhead snakes, ticks, the list goes on. You grow up knowing that and chances are, at 5, you're afraid of them
Yet every video that the mother put on Tik-Tok shows the children all barefooted running around in the woods. This entire story is way sketchy and I don't believe a word of it.
I grew up in a similar location in Mississippi. Our parents could not have made us wear shoes. I mean, if they'd tried, we'd have taken them off as soon as we were out of sight. There were anywhere from 3 to 10 of us children at any given time, and we knew to look out for each other. But I was the mostly likely to wander off into the woods alone. The times that we ran into trouble out in the woods we would never tell the adults about it. 🤣 My mother is phobic of snakes, so we only brought them home a couple of times. We never saw any mammals. We were probably too noisy. This was decades ago, of course. I only mean to explain why I think it's quite possible she would have gone for a walk in the woods. I don't find it as far fetched as others seem to. I also thought it was weird that she told her brothers she wanted to go downstairs to play. Did she normally announce her plans like that? I would be shocked if the big brothers didn't know every nook and cranny of that property. (They may not, but based on my experience, it would be shocking.) If she grew up out there, there was going to be a day that was the first time she ventured into the woods alone. Maybe it was that day. However, based on the parents being convinced that she's dead, they most likely know she's dead.
There's so much dysfunction and sadness in this horrible situation. What pains me the most is how scared and alone little Summer must have been and felt. She's just a baby😔 Another great one, Dr. G!💙
She is still missing musical artist Ryan Upchurch is now involved there is a 40,000 incentive to increase influence to look for the little girl it's not a reward that's what I'm told
@@carolv8450 Yes they can, and I am sure Dr. Grande knows that. His statement that they are nonsense seems based on the test not being a true scientific test of whether a person is lying. No machine can tell that, and results are based on the questioner's analysis of responses. :) So what do we need it for? We can ask questions and analyze answers without that. heheh Dr. Grande is very smart.
What I don't think is right is using these to winnow out and focus on particular "people of interest," automatically catapulting them onto the "suspect" list. But maybe some of these suspicious persons just know the damn things aren't always accurate! If the results cannot be used as evidence, they shouldn't be treated by any police as though they amount to evidence- certainly not to the point that it produces tunnel vision. But REFUSING to take one is ALSO considered somehow suspicious! It's a total damned-if-you-do/ damned-if-you-don't position for a person to be in, and it reminds me of that saying: "If you're guilty, you need a lawyer- and, if you're NOT guilty, you *REALLY* need a lawyer!"
The one thing that caught my attention with this case is that Summer's aunt Rose Marie Bly vanished in 2009 in WI. I'm not sure if that was connection was made when this video was made. It definitely seems odd to have 2 members in a family just vanish into thin air, years a part.
I think it’s possible C had something to do with both of them. She was jealous of the sister. Sister was pretty and smart. I think C has a glandular problem coupled with mental deficiencies. Then here comes pretty little summer. Who knows? But we know that Lori Vallow Daybell has killed multiple times over years and states.
There definitely needs to be a part 2 to this. I think Summer drowned while the mom was getting wasted with the fifteen year old and they panicked and covered it up.
Thank you Dr. Todd Grande. Very well said. Don said he knew for a fact she was abducted. The only way he could know for a fact is if he knows who took her. Years ago when Dons oldest son was young, he tried to sell him for drugs. That was with his first wife!
Maybe I have watched too many “cabin in the woods” movies where bad things happen in the basement. I think Summer’s family is involved somehow in her tragic disappearance. And, my refrigerator accuses me of lying all the time!
I believe the same. I believe something happened to Summer either at the swimming hole or after dropping H off. I believe if H knew something he would tell it. There's so many lies that the parents have said and then changed it when asked about it. The basement door was locked, I don't believe the Nissan truck was ever seen. I believe it night have been accidental and they got scared and didn't know what to do. And called police its sad because Summer is alone and cold and if she isn't here anymore I know god has took Summer home to walk beside him. The good books says what's done in dark shall come to light. Its only a matter of time before Summer is found and justice will be served. 💜💜
I’ve been following this case. Your analysis is spot on, clear, intriguing and your 4 probabilities in order of your opinion is excellent. I would agree with you! I believe the parents and grandmother know what happened. The boys don’t, but can give answers to whether Summer came home after swimming. Don and Candus had time to coach them before they were removed from the home. Thank you for weighing in on this.
I also am unsure if Summer ever came home after swimming. Candus said H walked off into the woods while she and Summer were at the creek. I saw a boat pass by in the vid. How easy would it have been to hand her off to someone in a boat?
It appears Don’s step sister is reporting he sa’d her from age 5 until she was 12. In an interview with The Interview Room, Don minimized it saying she started it. Very disturbing.
Yes I fully believe Don was hurting summer in that way and I think he is so twisted he thinks little kids can initiate this abuse. He’s not right in the head.
Don was 8yrs old at the time this happened. That speaks to familial incest and the likelihood that Don was equally victimized actually. Not that he's a pedophile. Most kids sleep with their parents at one point or another. It's not nefarious.
Dr. Grande - I'd love to know your thoughts on this being the second disappearance in one family. Summer's Aunt, Rose Marie Bly, Candus's sister, disappeared in 2009 and was never heard from again.
Was Don already in the picture back when Rose Marie disappeared?!? I have a feeling that with his past history of repeat and long term sexual abuse offenses against family members, he may have done the same to both the missing sister and now with Summer, both of which have vanished without a trace…
@Saul Llamas well, not only do I know the family, but the logistics prove it. It's not like the family was close. Don and Candus met and quickly had Josey in Ark during the same time Rose and Chris had their girls. No one was traveling to see each other. Then Don and Candus packed up and headed to TN the same week Rose went missing. Don still hasn't been to WI.
And yet he missed the simplest possibility, that despite being trash, her family wasn't involved in her disappearance. She could have wandered a short distance and met her fate via wild animals or a pack of dogs, as four or more dogs running together will stop behaving like pets. This also would have left virtually no remains for investigators to find...
I was raised in rural Tennessee. I'm not going to say kids never get lost in the woods, I'm sure its happened, but most have a deserved, healthy fear of the woods. The rest have been raised trekking the hills and hollers, and know not to go far without necessities and know how to get home. Don and Candus said themselves, people dumped poor dogs off all the time. Which sadly, happens too often in rural areas. These dogs barked when anyone came in the yard. Unless someone very familiar to the dogs was slinking around in the woods, waiting for the right moment to take her, the whole neighborhood would have known a stranger was there. I don't know if the parents were part of it or not, but I believe thats exactly what happened. Someone very close to the family took her. Someone who knew those hills.
Cannot WAIT TO HEAR YOUR OWN personal spin. Though its EXACTLY BECAUSE you don't "spin" anything is one of main reasons I love this channel! TY for this topic, Doctor G. Edit: Am in complete agreement with you. This is so sad, so quickly after the loss of Samuel Olsen.
isolated areas in many places with old farms have abandoned refrigerators, old cars with open trunjs, uncovered wells, .. and numerous other places children can fall into or crawl into and suffocate. I assume the police thoroughly searched their property.
Dear Dr. Grande, - “a person could be hooked up to a refrigerator or a sewing machine and get the same result” - thank you, again, will be laughing the rest of the night every time that comes to mind.
Ugh, this case breaks my heart. Summer, I am so sorry the world got you. ❤️ Dr. Grande: Why do people continue to have children during this horrible time in history? Pandemic, global warming catastrophes, so much poverty, civil and political unrest. It's a question that keeps coming up for me. It's not rude or mean sentiment but is born from a curious and concerned sentiment. Would you be willing to explain this? Thank you for your hard work and content. Thank you 🙏
Id like to know this as well. And also why reproducing is a basic right. Considering you have to be screened for adoption, why shouldnt people be screened in order to give birth?
It isn’t about having children. There’s no family planning involved. It’s about having sex and not caring what happens afterwards. In some situation as an additional child increases the welfare check dollars.
LOL You seriously are asking this? Simple. They like to have sex. And, the same idiots who like to have sex can't even take care of their animals, what makes you think they could care for kids. No requirements for who can breed, and society keeps getting dumber and dumber. Smart people don't have many kids.....because they ARE responsible.
I am following the case from England and am so glad that you are showing your experience with viewers as it’s fascinating to hear another person with a non law enforcement background who are the only people I have listened to thus far. I am sad to say I don’t think it looks good but feel we need to discover who knows what and lay the poor child to rest now
Don has made a claim that there are drug dealers that live past their house down Ben Hill Rd. He stated that the house has people coming and going all day and has even had people stop in the Wells driveway to do drugs. If this is the case, do you think that increases the chance of random abduction?
Thanks for covering this case. I’ve been following it intently. As both a mom and a survivor and of SA, I feel like Summer’s death won’t be in vain. If nothing else, it’s started some much needed conversations about abuse and mental health.
No, her death will have been in vain. Nothing is going to get better because a child is lost, probably dead. Much needed convos about mental health? There's already all kinds of talk about mental health, how about moving on to funding and real help for mental issues/ illness which I still don't see how this lost child is going to have any good effect. I bet poor summer was picked on because of her parents, for being poor on top of whatever she was going through within the family. Although it does seem that some people did show genuine concern for her before this incident
@@alisonmercer5946 you are entitled to your opinion, but I have witnessed folks on social media that have said they feel like they now have the courage to talk about their own personal stories with SA in their families because of Summer’s case. We can’t change what happened, but we can try to be better by learning from it.
@@alisonmercer5946 YES!! I agree with you 100%. Now I don’t need to write my own answer to contradict the insane horrific suggestion that Summer’s probable death will NOT BE IN VAIN. OMG - No Child should suffer or die for the furtherance of protecting other children or adults!! Not an innocent child’s responsibility.
You missed one theory: Her parents sold her for drug money. I think that's what happened considering it wouldn't be Don's first time trying to sell one of his kids for drug money in addition to Don saying so himself that he thought she was taken by traffickers.
@@Raven.13 No, UA-camrs thinking they have the right to use this case for profit & to gain popularity have turned it into a circus. This is NOT the family's fault but I hope they realize that they're being used and stop working with these people.
@@bobmueller1562 Why would the parents do that? If I am not mistaken I thought they may have made a public statement about their other children that went in to child protective custody? If they did so willingly then why would they need to hide their daughter?🤔
Dr Grande, I'm wondering if you'd consider an update on this case. There's been so much out since and I don't know if you have followed the case but I'd love a new video on it, including the theory she may have been sold.
This is so tragic. Reminds me a lot of the William Tyrrell case here in Australia. The rural location of both disappearances makes the explanations far more likely to be sinister of nature and all the more depressing and mysterious.
Me too, I'm in Oz as well and following this case....my money is definitely on Don and Candace, he should never have been allowed access to small children, she knew that but stayed anyway...God rest her, poor baby ❤😢
I live about 20 mins away from where they live. I find it so strange that they have not found anything at all! I feel like if she was in those woods they would have found her or at least found something by now.
I live close, too. I have lived in Church Hill and Kingsport and I totally agree. However, LE knows more than they’re telling us of course, but it is weird they have found NOTHING, or nothing they’ve mentioned. I figured even if she had wandered away and gotten attacked by a bear, coyote, or anything like that, they would have found clothes or something, but it’s like she just-Poof 🙈🙉🙊💥disappeared. Dr. Grande is exactly right with this analysis. The Wells are not a couple of sophisticated people and I just feel like if they had done something to Summer, the TBI and/or FBI would have found something while searching the woods, cell phones, computers, vehicles, home, or whatever else. This case should really open parents eyes about just how quickly something can happen. @PlAin JaNe, do you think they are guilty or undecided??
@Monster I'm leaning towards Don's oldest son who is in his 30's and has a history of sexual misconduct. Dogs would be familiar with him more than likely. He would also know the child's play routine, when and where to wait.
@@tara_ble1705 What do you think about the many material changes that both parents have made publicly to their statements about the day Summer went “Gone”??
Child protection services had to remove the boys from their parents' custody, which they did with good reason. Also Don's incessant religious talk sounds like he's defending himself from something. Don is always talking subjectively, placating himself as the victim. He's frequently violent when intoxicated. The partial drowning, theory 2 sounds likely. I'm not accusing Don, but he appears to be more than just distressed, acting like he's burdened by a sense of guilt. His older son's record with children is alarming.
Yes and then listen to his interview with Chris McDonough where he begins dropping f bombs in between sentences of religious nature and then promises he will do everything in his power to slander him.
This is classic sexual abuse by Don. He was reported to have her sleep next to him in their bed. Candace was jealous of her daughter. The way that child would cling to her lady friend at church was heartbreaking.I think Summer drowned in the lake after her mother giave her twisted tea. As a career pediatric RN I have seen all manner of horrible parents. This precious baby is with the Lord now, our only comfort. I pray Summers brothers get a loving home together.
DW was SA’ing his sister through his adulthood, and currently blaming his victim; She initiated it at five years old in his mind! An SA transaction gone wrong.
I think the answers lie right there. Summer was getting to the age of being able to maybe tell a trusted adult (Robin maybe?) and maybe he freaked out in a drunken rage and hurt her. It’s not going to be something outlandish like a selling or abduction. The answer is within the family. Perhaps Grandus and Candus don’t want to fess up because there would be evidence of prior SA and they don’t want to get into trouble for not reporting. The boys were probably terrified of their dad. If you heard in that call with Chris M, the parents show their true colors in that. They’re screaming and hollering, using the F bomb. His religious side is truly just a facade to distract the public from his real evilness. I really think those kids were around a lot of bad behaviors from the adults in their lives. It breaks my heart to think what all they’ve seen.
One red flag recently was hearing Don talking to Chris of The Interview Room - before Don phoned Chris and threatened to slander his name everywhere - and Don told a tale of some woman phoning him and talking of him stroking Summer's hair and one wonders if that was behind Candus cutting it off. The fact Summer was 5 which is exactly the same age as Don's step sister was when he began to abuse her is likely not a coincidence,
@@blazefairchild465 That is a totally " General" comment. Head Lice runs through every darn Elementary school every year like wildfire. It's so common it's ridiculous.
@UC7qpxKUYZ73jnFfCFvXwBSA You are very lucky if your kids made it all the way through school without ever contracting them. I live in a rural, poverty ridden area, and I can remember being angry at parents who put no effort into eradicating these little nasties from their homes. On the other hand, you had a lot of parents like me, who constantly checked, and fought returning cases. Not only was it gross, but it got really tedious and expensive, after a while. My girls all had long hair, and between going through their heads constantly, and if they even had one bug, or some eggs, I would completely tear apart their rooms, to make sure they hadn't carried them in there. We finally had enough, one year, and demanded the schools be more proactive. Well, seems ALL the kids coats and jackets were hung in one big closet in the classrooms. SO, as soon as summer break hit, they went in, treated the whole school for infestation, and installed separate lockers in each classroom. The head lice cases dropped dramatically. It also helped to isolate WHO was being sent home, and shampoo'd without treating their bedrooms, or other furniture, etc., only to return and 2 weeks later or sooner, there would be another outbreak. I have not had any connection with the prison or jail systems, but I do know that while working ER, we had people transported from our local jail to be treated for various things. I can't remember one case of lice. However, our Sheriff's Dept. is known for inmates saying that the food, daily showers, and clean clothes & bedding, plus the way they are treated ( not pampered) with respect any normal human being deserves, is so much better than most places, that it actually is " known", and the "preferred " place to be locked up. We do have a pretty awesome Sheriff's Dept. Sadly, the worst cases of lice I've seen while working ER have been from elderly, or/and disabled people who become "hermits" , rejecting any form of assistance with house cleaning, bathing, and that type of thing and isolating themselves until someone ( usually a neighbor) calls 911 to get help, and many times they are too ill to be helped, however we did our best to make them comfortable in their last days. Consequently, although I've never had head lice myself, I have had to take devouring showers at the hospital before going home.
Thank you for covering this, Dr. Grande. As a survivor of SA, this case hits closer to home than some. Your objective wisdom helps process some of the unresolved “whys” with “answers” that are based less in the emotional and more of the logical. Praying for Summer and her family
Jmo, but I think one or both of the parents know exactly what happened to Summer, and I don’t think she is on this earth anymore. Anyone who has spent any time in Appalachia, knows there are a lot of places to hide a body where no one will find it.
@@jamesfranks545 unfortunately probably true, very very sad, but I don’t have a good feeling about that poor girl, and my read on the parents is that they are untrustworthy at best. Hopefully, she will be found and justice will be brought to whoever took and/or harmed her.
I was so interested to hear your thoughts on this Dr G. I have been closely following this case and sadly I go with theory two, that there was an accident or homicide. I have watched and listened to interviews with the parents and there are too many inconsistencies. I just hope this case is resolved soon and Summer is found.
Thank you for analyzing this case, Dr Grande. God bless you. I live in the next county over, in Sullivan County. It is so sad that this little One, Summer has not been found yet.
Thank you for bringing attention to this. This happened just an hour outside of where I live in East TN, and it has truly shaken the entire community. Hopefully with more widespread info, some sort of justice will come out of this.
Thank you so much for covering this case. 🙏🏼 The more awareness we have about Summer the better. You gave only factual information and it’s important that we know the facts. I have my theory but I’ll keep it to myself. Again, thank you Dr Grande.
I’ve been following this case since it appeared on true crime Ann’s missing persons channels on UA-cam. Amateur sleuths, news media, and retired detectives have given their best efforts. Your analysis ranks among the best.
Hate to say it, but the only way she's still alive is probably the theory that she was turned into child sex trafficking. That in itself would be horrific, even if she's recovered alive at some point. Seems an extreme longshot she's alive.
Yes that was amazingly uplifting when she was found. Plus her speech in court was incredible. What an special young lady she is, hope she has a long & crime free, happy life✊♥️
I like that he left in the little hiccup in the intro, kinda cute considering he seems so serious all of the time because of the nature of his content.
I’m not sure if you’ve already done it, but I’d LOVE an in-depth analysis about why polygraphs suck! They are still used all the time and I don’t get it if they’re so bad! I’d love an explanation.
There are great articles on the subject. Google "Why polygraphs are pseudoscience" and you'll have the best explanation. And I don't mean that to be disrespectful. I think reading the articles is the best way to understand it but if I summarize it, it's not that what they measure isn't correct (pulse, respiratory rate and sweat rate); that's just data. The problem lies with the interpretation of that data. It's essentially as statistically significant as flipping a coin, meaning that it's not much better than chance. No one is really able to detect deception better than chance and the polygraph is more of a "placebo effect kind of tool" that law enforcement are using to justify their suspicions. But it's not reliable. Many (later) convicted killers passed their polygraphs with flying colors, for example...
Yeah never submit to a polygraph test for police. If you fail they’ll say you are guilty if you pass they’ll say it’s inconclusive. But since police are allowed to lie to others
They're still used primarily to try to coerce and intimidate people into confessing to various matters. The fact they are unreliable is not something the police who like to use them are going to tell you.
I've followed this story. My thoughts are Little Summer was gone before her mother told the story. she was not planting flowers . she did not go in and go down to the basement to play. she was gone before this story was told by her mother. It made no sense because it didn't happen the way her mother wanted people to believe it did. For whatever reason only God knows little summer is probably gone an we will never know what happen to this precious child
When my brother was 3 he went out front, got into our dad's car which was parked on the driveway, put it in neutral, took off the e-brake, and off he went (he was just playing and didn't know what he was doing, obviously). The car coasted backwards down the street, making a few turns before finally backing into wall around a random house. Basically, kids can do anything, they can get into any kind of trouble when you're not looking. There's no way to know here, until some hard evidence comes into view.
We had a huge ancient Cadillac when I was a kid. We had all gone for an outing an came home. Our driveway was sloped and went down to a wall that dropped straight down. Not normally an issue but my sister was in front seat after everyone went into the house. Somehow the car drifted down toward this drop off wall. I think she actually jumped out but I can still remember the tow truck pulling our car back on to our driveway. Had it gone another foot, I think it would have fallen off of this wall. Yes, kids get into trouble !!
This reminds me of the William Tyrrell case. So heartbreaking. It would mean a lot to Australians if you covered his story. Thank you for your balanced analysis as always ❤️
I lived in a rural town. Once when I was young an ender couple pulled up asking me where my parents were and were coming towards me. I ran away. I think of this with this. Shit can happen.
This is heartbreaking. As a parent, I find it hard to know the line between being over-protective and being careful. My kids need their freedom right? But what if they're there one minute and gone the next? It's horrifying. (I'm not over-protective, as much as I have the urge to be)
I think I'm almost like a helicopter mom who wants my son in a bubble. I was raised the opposite and I think my anxiety has made me like this and it sucks sometimes
It’s been 6 months since someone seen this poor baby girl. Also, it’s been almost 1 year since the west boys were last seen. Both cases leaving their home or around their home. I had a shirt just like Dr. Grande's until my estranged wife ripped it up. I like how Dr. Grande does not hesitate to state/rank his theories of what happened. Personally, I think it highly likely one or both parents have something to do with it. With criminal records, they are not credible or trustworthy. And the Dad constantly saying she's likely dead is very suspicious, and atypical for this type of case.
And the dad stating right off the bat to the police that she’s not there, that she was abducted. HOW DOES HE KNOW? I believe the parents know much more than they are letting on. And the fact that Grandma just left and is who knows where! I’d be looking for my granddaughter day and night until she was found! Maybe Grandma knows what happened! But what grandma would just leave? This is one messed up family!
I have a young son. I've never been in that situation but I believe I would always hold out hope. I would NEVER ever just casually say, oh he's probably dead. No way. Something is very off
I snorted my coffee when you said that LE can’t seem to find the OFF switch on their electronics and maybe they should spend less time on you tube and more time finding evidence. I think Summer was the victim of an accident, or possibly an abusive act, and Candus and grandus were too busy drinking and/or drugging to do anything about it. It’s possible the boys got rough with her and pushed her down those “stairs.” One of the boys was caught on tape saying, “It wasn’t my fault!” Also, the boys were to be taken the day after the disappearance, but it was postponed due to the disappearance of summer. What are the possibilities that this is all staged to keep summer out of the hands of CPS and she is actually safe somewhere out of sight? Back to the accident or abuse theory,, Candus is quite the drinker/doper. Kids aren’t taken from parents for no reason. I can picture her whacking summer to the point she stumbles or even goes flailing down those steps. Her timeline story makes no sense; my theories fit the situation better. I’m going with accident/abuse covered up by this wild abduction theory. I just don’t know how they hid her body so carefully that it hasn’t yet been found. Btw, Candus’ timeline cannot be believed, so there was plenty of time to hide the body (because no way was C planting flowers, putting away groceries, doing laundry, or taking a walk. If she was taking a walk, it was to dispose of the body).
I agree I think she fell down the basement stairs she went around the basement door hid her somewhere and then came back and called her name and said she magically disappeared it doesn’t make sense why someone would come onto their property in broad day light and if they did the person was very close to the family and the hiding her body part I think maybe don was either down in the basement or Candace gave her to him down that trail and then once he had taken her Candace called him to make sure everything was good then called the police
It's just strange! I agree with this theory of summer being abused, maybe even sexually. They said there was inappropriate activity showing on the tv in the basement? The mother of summer apparently has a low IQ and appears to be a drug user, considering her stare and expression. Her eyes seem to suggest that there is no one home. I believe the child was killed and they disposed of her body. Some parents in those drug induced lifestyles sell their kids for drugs! Just saying! This whole abduction theory stinks!
The Well's boys were not scheduled to be taken. Removals are not scheduled & would never be postponed. The boys were removed 6 weeks after the disappearance of Summer. Noone knows why, bc CPS never releases this kind of information, ever.
I appreciate your analysis. I've seen too many narratives and drama related to this case that is unsettling and exploitive, where adults listen to drama videos and participate in personally attacking the family on their social media.
I always enjoy the tone of open disdain when Dr. Grande talks about "so-called" lie detector tests. I would love to see Dr. G and Legal Eagle do a case analysis together.
Dr. Grande, this sad situation reminded me about the case of DeOrr Kunz who disappeared in 2015 while camping with his family in Idaho. I could not find that you had previously discussed that case and thought you might find it interesting.
I have followed this case and find it fascinating. I believe that Summer went into the basement where her bedroom was located and from there went into the yard to swing, which her parents have said was a common occurrence. I believe she saw a fawn (common in June) or perhaps a bunny and ran off into the woods to follow it. The parents have said she was not in the habit of wandering but I know that 5-year-olds can be easily distracted particularly by animals. From the photos, I have seen those woods were very dense in June, and the terrain was exceptionally rugged and steep. I believe she could easily have gotten lost, people have said there are a lot of different trails in those woods and she could have gotten lost quite quickly. People tend to believe if they are on a trail it will lead somewhere but it could easily have led in the wrong direction. It would have become dark within a few hours and a child would naturally have curled up to stay warm and to fight off the mosquitos. I think she could have been injured and succumbed to a wild animal - there are apparently bear and other predators in the area. I know the woods were reportedly searched thoroughly but I think, given the denseness of the undergrowth, it would have been easy to miss a few scattered small bones on the forest floor. What does bother me is that she is the second person in her family to go missing and that is statistically bizarre, to say the least.
Thanks for your analysis Dr. Grande! I think it's unusual for Summer Wells to disappear without any clues. Strange case in my opinion as well. I hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling she may have been killed in her surroundings. If she's alive, I hope one day she can escape and heal from the trauma. TFS :)
Thank you Dr. Grande for posting this on Summer Wells. Just a question, have you watched any interviews with the family? Candice Wells the mother of Summer Wells, also has a sister missing. I think she went missing somewhere around 2009, and still unsolved today. I personally feel like this will boil down to drugs in some form or fashion around this story why summer was either abducted or unfortunately her life taken. I'm very suspicious about the family personally, because of their history, but time will hopefully tell and clear things up.
Candus wouldn't answer the door when they came up the hill. But somebody else could sneak up there & abduct Summer, with no dogs barking or protecting part of their pack.???
My family owns a houseboat on a lake 20 minutes from where Summer is missing. This entire summer season of vacationing at the lake, I’ve thought about her the entire time. My heart aches for her. I feel in my soul that her parents are guilty and that this angel is now in Heaven. I pray I’m wrong, but I know I’m right. 🥺😭
That is horrific!
Can you imagine the step-sister's dread as she heard him marching up the stairs to her room?
That poor little girl.
It's key to what was going on there. It's unbelievable that he missed this.
Christine….I fear you are right. Did you hear Don say she sleeps with him always?
he's an idiot. he missed a lot. imagines a lot too.
Good Grief.
When my little one went missing I sent out the older kids. Kidnapping is the furthest from your mind.
What she said!

I’ve followed this case since like July. I disagree with this video and I agree with you, wth, I think the whole “playing hide and seek” was the parents saying “pretend you are playing hide and seek” Candus and Don are very good at deception in someways. Their criminality shouldn’t be down played.

The abduction theory holds no weight with me. They have around 10 dogs who, according to neighbours, are always barking when visitors approach the house. I cannot believe an abductor could get in to the house without the dogs going crazy.
Maybe an uncle or something?

My grandparents live out there and I’ll just say this: that’s rough country. The people are very hardened and close knit. Lots of drugs. LOTS of drugs. Lots of child abuse. Family secrets. Lots of people “stuck” there with very few options in life. The landscape itself is hot, thick, steep, and full of snakes, bears and coyotes. I can’t imagine a scenario in which she is still alive out there 2 months on. :(
Sounds much like southern west Virginia where I am
thanks for that information, I am in the east coast usa.
Say Hello,
Good description, very evocative.
Are you a writer of stories?
That is so sad. Such a beautiful area also, but sad for the people who have no hope.
I was terrified of copperheads when I lived there and I was much older than little Summer.
Here where i live cayote lots of then i don t walk in the wood either anymore
@@EverCassandra same here in Quebec Canada summer time except work never use shoes

@@timessquared2883 EXACTLY 💯!!!! 💯👏
But, they can be a tool to question with.
Ouf … scary history in this family 😟
But what would that imply? That someone in the family has abducted two separate family members 12 years and multiple states apart?
I think it’s possible C had something to do with both of them. She was jealous of the sister. Sister was pretty and smart. I think C has a glandular problem coupled with mental deficiencies. Then here comes pretty little summer. Who knows? But we know that Lori Vallow Daybell has killed multiple times over years and states.
The sister's ex-husband was a suspect in her disappearance from what I saw.
@@sortanative it is possible. Of course I hope that is not the case but it is suspicious. That is Candus’s sister.

@Catherine H - I agree. I’ve said it from day 1…that family…specifically the little girl’s parents probably caused her disappearance. 😭😩

"...your opinion is excellent. I would agree with you! I believe the parents and grandmother know what happened..."

Dr. Grande, I would be curious to hear your thoughts now, 2+ years later, Summer is still missing. Love your videos!
That little pause in the beginning made me smile more than it should 😂 you’re the best Dr. G!
Same!
I agree his subtletys always add so much to his message.
Where was the pause? After he said Candus was afraid of wildlife?
I live about 20 mins away from where they live. I find it so strange that they have not found anything at all! I feel like if she was in those woods they would have found her or at least found something by now.
@Monster Whatever happened, I believe Candus was part of it.
@Monster He wouldn't have to do anything so elaborate. All he'd need to say was, "Get in the car."
Child protection services had to remove the boys from their parents' custody, which they did with
good reason.
Also Don's incessant religious talk sounds like he's defending himself from something.
Don is always talking subjectively,
placating himself as the victim.
He's frequently violent when intoxicated.
The partial drowning, theory 2 sounds likely.
I'm not accusing Don, but he appears to be more than just distressed,
acting like he's burdened by a sense of guilt.
His older son's record with children is alarming.
Trying to make himself look squeaky clean, and free from vices.
He sexually abused his stepsister
@@cacu3989 I just watched a video of this case for the first time. I think his sister was 5 and he was older, like 12.
He's a narcissist, it's what they do
Yes and then listen to his interview with Chris McDonough where he begins dropping f bombs in between sentences of religious nature and then promises he will do everything in his power to slander him.
The one opinion on this case I’ve been waiting for! I’m so grateful for your content.
Me too!
Same here!
Totally agree great summation. You didn't mention the menagerie of barking dogs which I think make the abduction scenarios less likely.
Unless it was someone the dogs knew.
@@kingayy9267 even then, dogs normally bark when someone is approaching the house even if they know them. especially if they were in a car
She was abducted
@@carinfelska5774 Nope.
@Picket Fence Well it looks like you solved it. Case closed!
Your comment is sad, true and the end part.....yes😪 🙏💔
I suspect the hair cut made girl look more androgynous for a reason. That’s my concern
What is SA?
Most children would be relatively safe in the basement of their home. The Wells' home is distinctly different from most people's homes though.
I watched a tour of the home...what a house of horrors...especially that basement.

Thank you for covering this, Dr. Grande. As a survivor of SA, this case hits closer to home than some. Your objective wisdom helps process some of the unresolved “whys” with “answers” that are based less in the emotional and more of the logical. Praying for Summer and her family
This is so sad and this sweet babygirl needs to be found. 💔 Thank you DR. Grande!! I really appreciate and value your opinion.
The boys know, and will talk when they realise that they don't have to go back to the parents.
Jmo, but I think one or both of the parents know exactly what happened to Summer, and I don’t think she is on this earth anymore. Anyone who has spent any time in Appalachia, knows there are a lot of places to hide a body where no one will find it.
I agree. Those two know.
@@jamesfranks545 unfortunately probably true, very very sad, but I don’t have a good feeling about that poor girl, and my read on the parents is that they are untrustworthy at best. Hopefully, she will be found and justice will be brought to whoever took and/or harmed her.
They both took lie detector tests and passed.. But ppl can lie & sometimes those Churches make you believe you're doing the right thing.. Js.

I was so interested to hear your thoughts on this Dr G. I have been closely following this case and sadly I go with theory two, that there was an accident or homicide. I have watched and listened to interviews with the parents and there are too many inconsistencies. I just hope this case is resolved soon and Summer is found.
Thanks for covering this Dr. Grande. This one hits close to home, I live just an hour away from here.
Thank you for analyzing this case, Dr Grande. God bless you. I live in the next county over, in Sullivan County. It is so sad that this little One, Summer has not been found yet.
Thank you, Dr. Grande. I live in Nashville, TN. We're really heartbroken over Summer. I love your videos, and I was happy to see you talk on her case.
Dr Grande thank you,for the calm and sensitive way you mentioned this sad and disturbing case. Thank you Dr Grande.
I’ve been following this case since it appeared on true crime Ann’s missing persons channels on UA-cam. Amateur sleuths, news media, and retired detectives have given their best efforts. Your analysis ranks among the best.
I hope she's found soon... and alive. I never thought Jayme Kloss would ever turn up alive, but she did, so anything is possible.

He has older videos on this. Just search how do polygraphs work and his videos will come up
As far as I know the CBI has never said how they did in polygraph. That's just Don saying.

William Tyrrells foster mother is now a suspect and together with her husband have been charged with child abuse of anor child in their care.

How does this even compare to Australian crime of William Tyrrell???
I lived in a rural town. Once when I was young an ender couple pulled up asking me where my parents were and were coming towards me. I ran away. I think of this with this. Shit can happen.
This is heartbreaking. As a parent, I find it hard to know the line between being over-protective and being careful. My kids need their freedom right? But what if they're there one minute and gone the next? It's horrifying.
(I'm not over-protective, as much as I have the urge to be)

I absolutely love your videos especially this one you are straight ro the point no nonsense and speak truthfully and the facts not caring who has an opinion. Thats what Summers case has needed from the get go .
No way. Something is very off
I have a feeling it will be proven that although terrible parents and role models they did not do this or take part in summer vanishing
@@felicitywoodruffe4087 Agreed. The parents are a mess but I think the momma was trying to have a fun busy day and I think Hunter should be a suspect.
@@kristenwhitworth7991 and his parents
Christine Robinson 100percent correct

Can you do one on Cash Gernon please. I'm so glad you did this Summer video. Prayers for her and all children🙏

All of rural America is hooked on opioids.
It took CPS long enough to get the boys to safety.
Candus wouldn't answer the door when they came up the hill. But somebody else could sneak up there & abduct Summer, with no dogs barking or protecting part of their pack.???
You have to have evidence to stand up in court. Otherwise the child will be returned immediately.
