So glad You did this today because I was a no sugar person for years and fell off the wagon due to many factors that you mentioned. Stress from needing a home and emotional sadness. My functional doctor has said that I wasn’t getting enough protein and that is an issue as you said. Homeostasis is sooo key! It can be easy (if u stay there) but I find having the right tools (kitchen necessities) around you and ability to obtain healthy food makes a big difference! Thank you again. These reminders are the things that help us to get back on track. For instance, I haven’t bought a box of cereal in years until yesterday. I saw a UA-cam video with the “Dunkin” cereal and they said that it smelled like coffee beans. Next day I was in the store and grabbed a box. (Can’t have coffee due to acidity and I love it) careful everyone, of those subtle advertisements, that will get you when you’re in the store. Good luck. 🥰. Wish I could get into some type of “beat the sugar” addict group. I’m sure there are some on Facebook. Good luck all 💓

Your video explains a lot. I have always had a horrible sweet tooth. Do you have any extra suggestions for someone who is unable to increase protein due to health reasons (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome)? It's also the cause of constant fatigue which can't be alleviated by simple fixes (or anything tbh) I am on 7 medications that increase my appetite so my weight has become a problem. At first it wad a good thing as I was always borderline underweight before my diagnosis (constant stomach issues made me want to rarely eat) but over the years, with each new medication and having a child, I have steadily gained 70 pounds. I would love to be rid of 50. But would be satisfied with 25. I went on phenterimine and lost 20 over a year, but I couldn't maintain eating only 1200 to 1500 calories a day, so over the next year and a half i gained 35. I am unable to exercise as it releases histamine. I know you will say consult a dietician or whatever, but I live in a rural area with a lot of poverty, and so there aren't many doctors and I couldn't afford one if there were. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

The sugar craving always start with emotions :-(
I noticed if I am feeling depressed or unloved or just plain old sad, I will reach for CHOCOLATE! I have really worked at allowing myself say, no more than 3 small pieces of chocolate when I am unhappy. And I also try and remember all the things I am really GRATEFUL for. If I am really moody, I will begin by wiggling my toes (which usually makes me smile since I have started at the "bottom") and it is silly to be grateful for wiggling my toes, then I try to recap all the beautiful things in my day. Gratitude is grace!!!

Coming from a beekeeper, get local honey. A lot of store bought honey is from overseas or a long distance away. It's also been pasteurized, which takes all the beneficial stuff and cooks it away. Stay local. Eat local. 🐝🌻

    • @ashleystanley7941
      @ashleystanley7941 3 роки тому +3

I definitely support eating local as much as possible. However, for anyone reading without access to local honey there are a couple of companies that have raw, unpasteurized honey. Nature Nate's has raw, unpasteurized honey available in both organic and non-organic. I've ordered theirs from Sam's Club and Kroger before during quarantine or winter time when our market's closed. We prefer to shop with our local beekeepers at the farmer's market. There are three keepers who sell honey along with other produce, baked goods, and spreads. Local is the best and the freshest!

Sugar cravings are real. I wish fruit stopped me from wanting a slice of chocolate cake but it doesn't. Sugar is put into everything that isn't whole foods in the supermarkets because it sells. In the U.K. GMO's are not allowed to be put in the food. But it's perfectly fine to do so in the U.S.A. All our groceries should be organic and we shouldn't have to spend more money to get everything organic. No wonder so many Americans are obese. Most people don't stand a chance against the "non food" sold on the shelves of almost every supermarket chain. Thank you for your video, Dani. It's very informative and educational.

tips that have helped me personally:
    1. eat a complete meal with PROTEIN!!!
    2. when you get the craving, drink water
    3. drink hot coffee or tea (preferably no sugar added)
    4. be mindful (maybe write down how you feel, bc a lot of times is just anxiety 😬)
    5. find something to do maybe you are just bored.
    6. go for a walk
    7. if the cravings are REALLY BAD. eat a fruit rich in fiber, such as pear, apples or berries.
    8. dark chocolate (70 or 80% cacao)

I'm a big advocate of using local honey as many have mentioned. Instead of sugars I'll use maple syrup or honey instead (like in oatmeal). I read this tip in a magazine years ago: To reduce a chocolate craving choose a darker chocolate and start with just a square, instead of chewing it, allow the square to melt on your tongue and pool in your mouth. It gives that dopamine rush without a tonne of calories and I swear you will not want more, it satiates your chocolate and sweets craving. It really works!

I've struggled and conquered drug addiction in my life. I've also love sweets all my life. I realize now that sugar is a true addiction. It is no joke. The mad intense cravings i have for sugar are pretty much the same that i had for drugs. What really helps me is to wait out the cravings. It will usually pass in 30 minutes. Or Eat some nuts. Or have a piece of fruit. At least fruit provides fiber, vitamins, minerals, and water. It also gives ur stomach a feeling of fullness. If im craving chocolate, i take a swig of a chocolate protein drink. I don't drink the whole bottle but rather maybe 2 tablespoons worth. It gives me the chocolate flavor to satiate my craving.
    P.S. Love your videos!

Thank you for making this informative video! I really love the last point of the body as a pendulum & trying to maintain the balance. I’m always craving for a midnight snack like chocolate. It’s like something to de-stress & unwind myself after a day of work. So I really like your tips about cutting back the sugar intake.

Yes, for me all about emotion but I always have to do a very restrictive diet or i'll end up going off the deep end worse than before! I have been meal planning daily for awhile and have lost 17 pounds and I was glad you mentioned stevia because that has gotten me through. I like to eat stoneyfield with sweetener and fresh fruit mixed altogether. I get a slump in the afternoon and think my blood sugar has plummeted. I'm excited to do the class 😊💙

I have been completely abstinent from white refined sugar - including pasta, cakes, pies, ice cream etc for over 20 years through Overeaters Anonymous. I am deeply grateful to be free of sugar and I do not ever use honey or maple syrup. I will use NOW Stevia from time to time. Stevia is a pulverized leaf from South America that does not trigger craving for sugar. Good luck to all of you ....

This was great, sweet treats are my biggest cravings. Although Stevia for me has the same aftertaste, and upset stomach issues as the other artificial sweeteners. I do like pure organic honey and pure organic maple syrup. Been watching your channel for a long time! Love your views on good whole foods, and not fad diets!!!

Sometimes Stevia is cut with erythritol. It causes the cramping, probably not the Stevia.

I really enjoy your channel. I gave up cane and beet sugar and artificial sweeteners about six months ago when I noticed that they were one of my migraine triggers. The only sweetener that I have found that I can use is organic dark maple syrup, and I only use it when I bake. I have come to love fruits and there sweetness. I have also lost 50 lbs since making the switch. My migraines have become less frequent as well.
