With BPD, you really don't know who you are. Other peoples' ideas of who you are basically becomes who you are because you don't have a sense of identity. Impulsivity and unstable relationships are marked w/ BPD.

I'm responding to a 11 year post, and I hope my response to you finds you healthy and happy. I can so relate because I have found that I've lost everyone, which was never my intent. I'm working on being able to find myself, a strong and healthy identity and I wish you the same! RIP to the pain and suffering!

    Hi!
Your video is so raw and real. You can tell it comes from an honest place. I have been struggling since college with a lot of different mental health issues. I am constantly searching for an answer, to what is wrong with me. I suspect bpd might be part of the problem. thanks for sharing your story!

I wish you could get my mother and brother to have no judgement or shame for their BPD which is pervasive throughout my moms side of the family. My mom was devastated by her father dying while she was on vacation in Europe. She may have missed his funeral or rushed back early to the funeral.
For people with attachment issues, I’m not sure there’s something more painful and devastating than that for them.
My mother and brother keep up an appearance, but it’s obvious that they have no self or needs or purpose. Everyday is groundhog day for my brother. Being content and controlling your petty little world is not living or happiness. My mother can’t get through one day with going through THE range of emotions, like all of them. They have no clue what their emotions are, why they have them, or where to turn.
Doubt may be the precursor to fear, but being in the dark and powerless while watching your house burn down and the visceral fear this instills in them in a kind of terror they’re addicted to yet petrified of.
How do you get these people to end the shame and hopelessness?

Im just learning about BPD...I can only compare some things with my own experiences. ..the most obvious is not having a center...an identity...a core; yet the "emptiness" is a feeling that I cannot find within myself. I do not know what this mismatch implies. Symantics? For now I'm pondering..
I continue rolling this difference around. ..what and why is emptiness common to BPD? Perhaps I did not feel empty because I was able to maintain constant feelings for whatever man was in my life at the time...they did not turn into objects of hatred. (just guessing here - more another day...tired now)

I'm certain someone I know has it. . but am afraid of telling them so. Most likely they won't believe me or feel like I am trying to devalue or abandon them or label them as crazy. They are also completely against therapists because it is not a part of their culture to talk to "strangers" about their problems.

took 3 sessions with a 4th which was an interview from what I can remember, but I had seen that psych once a week for about 2-3 months when they suspected I had more than depression, hope that helps.

Tell them .Maybe they won't forgive you (either way). But sometimes it is a relief to just have a name for...whatever. Help and cry for help goes beyond culture.

In terms of symptoms, I'm finding it hard to differentiate BPD and things like depression, anxiety or bipolar. There seems to be a lot of overlap :/

    • @sahir267
      @sahir267 Рік тому

In Bpd there should be 5 or more symptoms in the list of 9 symptoms that are given in DSM-5 (INTERNATIONAL BOOK OF PSYCHOLOGICAL DISORDERS NAMED AS DIAGNOSTIC AND STATISTICAL MANUAL OF MENTAL DISORDERS)
In Bipolar there are 2 distinct states which occurs one after the other 1. Mania (feeling of extreme happiness, high energy levels, over excitement etc) 2. Major depression ( lower mood, sad mood, unable to feel happiness, lower energy etc)
Depression is same as explained above as major depression but in this you only have one state (mania is nit included)
And Anxiety is feeling of distress, irritation and restlessness.
Moreover, each disorder has its specific time period for example depression can be count if you have depressive symptoms continuously at least for 2 weeks.
But the best thing is to consult a professional.
Best of luck👍🏻 get well soon

Perhaps there is a link between hatred and abandonment. Hatred is akin to killing...is this where the shame and self loathing join hands. Something seems to be completely unconscious. Fear of abandonment makes sense if one can only see and feel black and
white. These are thoughts are only me wondering about what REALLY makes BPD operative.

What you said didn't at all persuade me that you had 'borderline personality disorder'. The normal person is always looking for meaning; some people look harder than others. I think you had a severe stress, and that it overwhelmed you for a while. I think everyone has degrees of stress that can overwhelm them. That doesn't mean that they have 'borderline personality disorder'.

You are entitled to your opinion -granted the interview was short and it is hard to assess anyone in such a short period of time-however look at her affect-her expressions-her overall demeanor-she has other videos as well-God bless her for coming out!
