@@autismandgaming4532 There was no rejuvenation of Mario's creativity, he never lost it. A couple more simple games that have their own share of creative things don't equal "loss of creativity."
@@cyanideOwO that's like one game, if you want to make your point, try at least listing more games during that era than just one bruh. also, your comment doesn't even make sense, like how can sticker star more than simple ?
@@chrange9714 bro he means that mario in the late 2010's that said that they cant make new mario characters if they are third party like including (alphadream&paper mario devs) look at paper jam and sticker star
@@SoundGZ AlphaDream could always make new Mario characters what're you on about? Having one new game with no big new characters doesn't mean they aren't allowed to make them. Look it up, that was their decision with Paper Jam not one they were forced to do because of mandates. Those only existed for Intelligent System after Sticker Star, kept over their heads by their IP team. Sticker Star didn't have them, that game came about because Miyamoto requested that it be more simple. He had little to no involvement with Color Splash and Origami King.
Nintendo’s been sleeping on all the non-Mario Mario spin-offs for a while, Yoshi, Wario, Donkey Kong, with the only exception being Warioware, and even then, it’s nowhere near as good as any of the other series I just mentioned.
I think the executives at Nintendo realized they don’t need to have EVERY single Mario game be marketable for plushies. They can just make Mario go into LSD worlds and people will still buy plushies, even if Princess Gwimble of the Honey Donut Kingdom doesn’t get a plushie.
10:41 I don't think that's fair to the Superstar Saga remake. Yes, the artsyle isn't the same as the original, but it looks so good in its own right and even has lighting effects which weren't present on the GBA. Though I will admit that the original Bowser's Inside Story looks better than in the remake.
The Superstar Saga remake sadly removed too many original characters. The Koopa Cruiser crew in their flight suits were removed. The different types of Toads with different heights, body type, male, female, children, were all removed. Same goes for a few unique enemy designs.
That's fair, but I do think visually it's superior to the original and not just because it's on more powerful hardware. I just personally think it looks genuinely better.
Mario 2: USA is also not even a mere reskin of Doki Doki either, it has quite a few tweaks to make itself stand out, which is probably why it was able to see release in japan to begin with.
AND even Doki Doki Panic itself still has overtly Mario things in it, like the POW Block and Starman/Invincibility Star powerup, which were already established Mario elements. Those were not part of the Mario 2 "reskin," they were already in the original Doki Doki Panic game.
I still would've loved if the new M&L game had gone full into entirely hand drawn graphics, really embrace the series' iconic 2D art style. But I'm just glad we're getting a new M&L game period
Being honest, they’re trying something NEW with 3D stuff. It was always only for like giant or papercraft fights, so seeing the alphadream style PERFECTLY REPLICATED IN 3D FULL-PLAYTIME… it’s just pure serotonin to me
They could still do that some other time, but its not a good fit for their first time back from the grave. 2D animation is expensive, especially if you’re trying to match up to such a distinct style. I think the 3D looks great, much like it looked great about a year ago when the same devs did SandLand. They’re breaking new ground in video game stylization and making anime-styled 3D look better and better
It feels great to see Mario is back to being creative again. Whether it was thanks to Mario Wonder or Odyssey, I'm just happy that we have the era of Mario that made it what it was in the first place.
0:12 “All this time,” IS an explanation for why it looks good. Getting one after years after the closure of the original series developer, late in the console’s lifespan and within a year of remakes of two other classic Mario games of the same genre within a single year is what’s weirder about Brothership.
Ive gotten so excited for every single one of the new games, like jamboree, wonder, the mario rpg, thousand year door, and especially the new entry to mario and luigi, that im super excited for whats upcoming
7:40 ik you kinda acknowledged it but how does 3d world fit this video? It has some of the most creative ideas in any Mario game and they’re constantly being thrown at you. Even the playable characters are unique with peach and Rosalina who were almost always unplayable in mainline games
I don’t know why, but watching this made me emotional lol. Once he started listing all the more recent high points like all the RPGs coming back, I wanted to start cheering and applauding, like “you did it Nintendo, you got this”
Something else I’d like to point out is that sparks of hope (the sequel to Mario+Rabbids) Completely innovated on what the first game. I loved the first game so much and sparks of hope came in, destroyed it all, and reinvented it in way that I enjoyed more. Absolutely amazing game, would recommend.
If I see "Mario is Missing" referenced I have to give a thumbs up. Anyone who suffered through renting that game for the weekend as a kid knows the pain that game inflicted.
I'm honestly surprised that the Mario and Luigi franchise is getting a second chance at life in general. I thought that this series was buried and forgotten after AlphaDream went under. The fact that it's getting a sequel, and it looks amazing, and the franchise is fully 3D for the first time is so exciting.
I thank Miyamoto for working on the movie. Maybe that made him release the strange hold he had with the series saying "no new characters in Paper Mario", which could be translated to "keep it safe, guys"
That's kind of misconception. Miyamoto stated that more as a suggestion, so they didn't have to listen to it. Infact Miyamoto found Sticker star to be boring as well.
@@spyrothegamer2131 I mean, if I am well versed in Japanese corporate culture, suggestion from your boss is basically an order. The same happens in South Korea
@@EduardoFlores-bt4fothis^^^ coorporate power dynamics are incredibly unhealthy in east asian culture. china japan south korea ETC. made especially bad with the extremely non confrontational culture in those areas.
@@knopfir Which is actually pretty absent from Nintendo, so it was taken too seriously as a force of habit. Nintendo may be extremely strict when it comes to fair use, but they’re a nice place to work for. That’s a sacrifice that seems worth it in this day and age of gaming companies abusing their employees.
Wait what? NOOOO! I mean, good on him for leaving a company like that I guess, but that's unfortunate in terms of not being able to continue working on the Mario + Rabbids series, which has been great so far. If you're talking about the guy I'm thinking of, then Mario + Rabbids was literally his passion project, his baby, so if he's gone that's just sad both for him and for the series. But on the other hand...Ubisoft is Ubisoft so, can't blame him.
I'm glad you pointed out Odyssey as the turning point. I feel like people give more credit to Wonder when it comes to bringing weirdness back to Mario, but Odyssey is still one of the wackiest Mario games. Bringing a new twist to a lot of the familiar level tropes, the insane capture mechanic, levels with different art styles, tons of new species, vocal themes... I definitely think it was the one to bring weird back to the franchise, and I'm glad so many of the spin-offs followed suit.
I got sentient sometime around 3d land release and I was so confused why the internet was negative towards what I think is the coolest looking game ever
Still can't belivee we live in a timeline where mario and the RABBIDS of all game franchises have a crossover game with a story while mario and sonic have yet to have a proper crossover
i feel like an rpg would be our best shot but if nintendo and sega managed to merge their mascot's platforming gameplay styles together then that'd be great.
I believe Good-Feel is likely behind Brothership judging by how Luigi's model looks very similar to the one they designed for Dream Teams Giant Battles.
Another great video from you, it's always nice to hear you analyze and discuss things of this nature. Mario's back on track, and we're all better for it. I'm admittedly not sure how much you could do with this suggestion, but I figure I can throw it out there anyway, since I think it would make for a good discussion. It's been over a year since the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and from what I've been able to see, there's a growing schism between fans who want the Wild era and its trends to continue versus the fans who want Zelda to head back to more traditional territory. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts about it, as well as what you'd like to see in a new 3D Zelda.
Just wanna point out that mp superstar was an incredibly safe game and that's why it worked in the same way that Mario bros wii worked so it's weird to call over positively by saying it returned to its roots when that's exactly what the other did
@@juanmanikings Sure but the video never said it was bad. It was just a safer game that took fewer risks compared to the first one. It's still a very good game, even if I prefer the original.
Mainly because Tropical freeze was on the poorly sold Wii U, and just like with Mario Kart and a few others, they decided to bring it to the switch so those who missed out on the Wii U would not miss out on its DK game, and it was already too late to make a new one, they’re probably just developing a new one ready for the next console, same with Mario Kart, and don’t say Mario Kart 9, MK Tour was 9, after the disaster that was Mario Party 9, WE DONT WANT 2 NUMBER NINES.
@@olliedownie190Damn right, we want 2 number 9s, a number 9 large, a number 6 with extra dip, a number 7, 2 number 45s, one with cheese and a large soda 👀 ...I'll see myself out
When I first saw the Mario Wonder trailer in my recommended, I was so sure it had to be a spinoff. It's like 2D Mario, but with some kind of "Wonder" gimmick to make it a fun side adventure to compliment the usual format. When I watched the trailer and had the realization that no, this is actually a brand new main series 2D Mario game with its own full identity for the first time since New Super Mario Bros. and with an insane new gimmick with the Wonder Flower, I was over the moon. Although I've gotten accustomed to it now, first playing the game and seeing all those changes to the animation, music, level design and environments on top of charming little additions as simple as the drumroll on the ground pound, it felt like an absolute fever dream. It was the most refreshing thing ever after nothing but New Super Mario Bros. for literally my entire gaming life.
I wouldn't actually call Mario games "weird", per say. I'd imagine cartoony, innovative, and unpredictable in a good way at times. Like, in a place like the Mushroom Kingdom, it's a new adventure, you don't know what to expect. But, we've all have a consensus that the "New" era was a drag, creative-wise. The same old, same old assets bled through into the games, and lost it's pizazz. It's about time Nintendo noticed.
@@dleo64 - I highly agree! I mean, the second stage has walking, singing Piranha Plants! And that's just ONE wonder effect! I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end!
Dude, the entire premise of Bowser's Inside Story is weird. Imagine if there was a Sonic game where the main premise was that Sonic and Tails get swallowed by Eggman, it's freaking weird, dude.
Yeah I’m glad the Mario Franchise nowadays is mostly experimental again like the 2000s, being a Mario fan in 2010-2016 was kinda boring in a way with how bland and sterilized most of the games were besides some. All we need now is a new Mario kart game, new 3D Mario game and for the sports games to be good again and the Mario franchise is set for life! 😎
Jeez are the NSMB games that bad I mean sure graphically there a little samey but those games were actually a huge part of my childhood and were one of the first video games I’ve ever played and time by time I like pop in a NSMB game if I’m feeling nostalgia. With that said though I am glad that the Mario series is being more creative with the platformers lately (I don’t really care for the RPG spinoffs) because as much nostalgia I have for NSMB games I think it’s the platformers got a revamped in creativity.
@@jskywalker58 Personally I really don’t think we need a game based on that Mario movie because if being honest I found that movie pretty mediocre and forgettable mainly due to the story being pretty bare bones and sure Mario games aren’t really known for plot but this is film the games don’t have plots because it’s gameplay first and story last but with a film you need an interesting story for the film to keep your audience interested. Also Illumination’s involvement in this film does show with their being jokes that don’t always land, reused character models and side characters (Luma) that are only there to look cute and marketable towards kids but doesn’t serve anything to the film but to be fair compared Illumination’s previous films it’s not near as bad as their other films but it is still noticeable. Overall the Mario movie isn’t bad but pretty mediocre so no I personally don’t think Nintendo should not make a game based on the recent film.
Hard disagree on most of the Mario and Luigi stuff Edit: what Im referring to is that the later M&L games are all still really great. They're just not AS great as they could have been. Even Paper Jam is still a super solid game. And he makes it sound like remaking superstar saga was some lazy choice, but I think it was the best move given the limitations they were put under.
@@NickMario1He probably could have worded it better, but I think what he he meant is that Delzethin kind of trashed on Dream Team and the Superstar Saga remake, which was uncalled for as those games are really good. I don't even think Paper Jam is that bad of a game despite undoubtedly being the worst in the series, but Delzethin didn't give it any credit where it was due.
I'm just hoping Super Paper Mario makes a return. Sure, its different from the first 2 games, but Its still a great game with a Killer story And maybe also a New, Massive Punch-out game Featuring Characters from Wii, SPO or even the arcade games! And there's also room for Existing Nintendo Characters to make an appearance like DK did in Wii's Last stand! There's just so much possibility with this new era! The newest games like Wonder, Party Superstars and TTYD remake, there just seems to be no limit on how the original concepts would be refined!
While I agree Mario Kart 8 was mostly a break from the norm during the era (and most definitely a very good one) it also suffered from the homogenization, just in a way, way more subtle way, like the Yoshi helicopter in Yoshi Circuit getting replaced by a normal helicopter or Cheese Land changing setting from the moon but made of cheese, to a cheese themed desert, it was little details like those
I really don't understand why the M&L remakes are always grouped with the Wii U era sections of videos like this when they came out during the Switch era, and while they were on the 3DS and sadly had their drawbacks from the financial struggles of AlphaDream, I really don't think they're the blemish in Mario's history that they're usually framed as. I was over the moon in 2017 when Superstar Saga was coming back, one of my favorite Mario RPGs returning was just as huge to me as Odyssey. 2015 Nintendo would have never. Superstar Saga is one of the weirdest Mario games in history, so is Bowser's Inside Story. The fact that they were able to come back with a modern coat of paint at all is indicative of the shift toward embracing the less conventional side of the Mario series imo. It's just a shame they flopped due to AlphaDream lacking the budget to make them Switch games or reuse less assets. But for what they were they are absolutely part of the Switch's renaissance rather than the Wii U's safeness.
And Superstar Saga being remade made total sense too! The original couldn't be played at all (officially) so now the entire series could be played on one single system!
@TheRogueMaverick The original Superstar Saga had been on the WiiU Virtual Console for quite some time actually, but I do think it has a reason to exist. The Bowser's Inside Story one though? That one is death by 1000 paper cuts. It has so many little blemishes that the original game just didn't have that I would never pick it over the original unless I wanted to play to Bowser Jr side story which I personally loved, but not everyone cares about Bowser Jr's character development when picking up a Mario game.
Yeah, it really is so freakin' AWESOME to have Mario finally return to his quirky, and charming roots after the staleness since the Wii, and DS era much like how his older games were so well known for! It was a shame that Nintendo chose to play it safe since the first New Super Mario Bros. as well as the launch of the Wii (both of which first came out in 2006) in order to cater to a newer audience, which only worked throughout the rest of the 2000's (they should've started adding in more things that made Mario's earlier titles so famous besides just the familiar once the 2010's started. Also think Nintendo should've just gone to High Definition, as well as a reader that can also play movie discs, and TV show discs, instead of just Wii Discs, and GameCube Discs (although it's still nice players can do that) like their competitors rather than just using revolutionary motion controls despite it being a big reason why the Wii became such a huge hit. Same with its name, the "Wii" still made some people think that Nintendo was only for little kids). It's also disappointing that the staleness of Mario's familiarity contaminated his spin-off titles throughout most of the 2010's like Mario Party, Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi RPG (the latter 2 ended up creating some of the most disappointing video game crossovers), the Sports games, etc. I am glad that Nintendo FINALLY learned their lesson on keeping Mario safe since the mid-2000's, and brought him back to his old, wacky adventures like his first few installments were that made him a video game legend he is today like recently with Super Mario Odyssey, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder, as well as other secondary Mario characters getting their own games like Luigi with Luigi Mansion 3 mixing the strongest elements from the first 2 (and a sprinkle from the Mansion 1 3DS remake in 2018, mainly with Gooigi), and transforming it into an unforgettable experience throughout a hotel, and Princess Peach with her first official brand new game in nearly 20 years since Super Princess Peach on DS in 2005 via Princess Peach: Showtime! (although, Peach has fumbled a bit with the latter similar with Yoshi in Craft World)! Mario Party is back again too! Although, the Sports series haven't particularly done well especially Mario Strikers: Battle League, and Nintendo's attempts at celebrating Mario's 35th anniversary went extremely horribly with 3D Collection's baffling lack of content, as well as making both physical, and digital copies limited for basically no reason especially the latter, and removing Super Mario Bros. 35 less than a half-year (and the less said about Nintendo Switch Online with its horrible lineup of games to this day, an app to use voice chat via smartphone instead of through sites like Discord, forcing games on players who aren't interested in certain ones, and the horrible, expensive, pointless Expansion Pack, the better). It's also disappointing that Donkey Kong STILL hasn't had his own brand new game in 10 years, same with Yoshi (speaking of which, can Yoshi finally get his own adventure without any of the Super Mario stuff like enemies, objects, bosses, etc., and mix it in with the original aspects since Yoshi Island such as baddies, levels, music, objects, bosses, characters, and so on, including his own, original advisory that isn't an infant version of his plumber friend's longtime rival? Also hoping that King K. Rool, the Kremlings, and a lot of the older enemies, and objects, as well as the rest of the missing Kong Family members, and Animal Friends return in future new Donkey Kong games), and while it's great that Wario's still been active via Made In Wario games, it's still disappointing that there hasn't been any new Wario Land games in 16, nor a sequel to Wario World, and hopefully there will be with Captain Syrup returning as the main antagonist alongside Waluigi tagging along, and a few MIW characters like Mona, Ashley, etc., as well as having Waluigi in future MIW titles as the manager with an original Made In Wario-style biker outfit like Wario's, and Syrup always causing chaos to take over Diamond City, or something, with also an original outfit for her, albeit a pirate-themed! Nevertheless, it's still really incredible that not only is there a remake for both Mario's first RPG, and Paper Mario's most famous one, but also a brand new Mario & Luigi RPG game for the first time in 11 years, as well as a brand new Mario & Rabbids RPG crossover that turned out surprisingly well, which also had a sequel on the same system, and BOTH having DLC, thus giving Mario FOUR RPG series, and makes me wonder what the future of all these series will be like (maybe a sequel to Legend Of The Seven Stars, a continuation of Paper Mario's well known formula mixed with some modern elements, and so on)! (Though I will say a few things: I think the "console war" nonsense that went on was kind of a Western thing since I'm pretty sure they never did things like that in Japan, Yume Koujou: Doki Doki Panic from my understanding actually was designed to be made as Super Mario Bros. 2 for the US since the OG SMB2 was too difficult for many Western players (even though I think they should've just risked the series' popularity with 2), so it doesn't automatically mean it's unrelated, and I believe the reason why Nintendo stuck with cartridges for the N64 was due to the system being developed at the time when cartridges were still a point of contention.) I look forward to seeing Super Mario's future both mainline, and spin-off! Another excellent Video, Delzethin! And as the Thumbnail said "WE'RE-A SO BACK!"
When Origami King and Paper Jam came out, it felt like two of my favorite games ever had died. Sure Origami king was "good" but, well, Super Paper Mario and below weren't JUST "good". Alpha Dream died, and with it my hopes for a return to my beloved RPG serieses. I was baffled, when at first I thought that "If they're dead, at least Super Mario RPG has been revived for new people and maybe that can forge the way for a new future of Mario RPGs." But no, it didn't pave the way for a new future, it paved the way for the past, present, and future alike. A new Mario and Luigi, the Fan requested TTYD remake (to the quality they had hoped for), and Mario RPG, all sitting next to each other. Every time I look at it it makes me want to cry tears of joy.
The movie gave Mario a lot of momentum, and I think Nintendo was smart for turning up the weird to make they captured the attention of the new generation who saw the movie with their parents. Glad they're being clever again!
Sarsaland and Teaches Typing returns? Sidenote: this feels like seeing a famous 80's avant-prog band gradually shift to a stale pop rock group before hitting hard by making an album reminiscent of their even more aggressive early 70's years.
Now mario has four strategy spinoffs (Mario RPG, Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi and Mario + Rabbids) and they all seem fun, i'd indulge if the switch had a gamepass system and not so fragile controllers
i am so glad mario is wacky again, however i feel bad that the first nsmb game (that was actually pretty creative for it's time and had a unique power-up that never came back) has it's reputation being dragged down by the other nsmb games.
Mario feels like a true individual identity rather than an icon again, and I can’t wait to see if they stay in this renaissance or if they fall back. You got this, Mario! Roll Roll Roll!
10:57 I’m pretty sure it was Alphadream’s decision to remake Inside Story, not Nintendo’s. Alphadream were on the brink of bankruptcy so in a last ditch attempt for some cash, they remade Inside Story because they thought it would guarantee some extra money as it was the fan favourite. This is also probably the reason they skipped over remaking Partners in Time. Even though it was the next game chronologically, it just didn't have the same universal praise that Inside Story did, making it risky as that quick cash flow they wanted wouldn't be guaranteed with a less popular game.
I highly doubt that the developers made the decision instead of the publishers. That's not how things work. At best, the developers can pitch the idea, but it's ultimately Nintendo's decision
Of course. Still, they could have easily modernized the look but they made a very conscious decision to retain the unique weirdness of the original game. 10 years ago all of those designs would have been standardized for sure
Yeah and there were plenty of original looking games in the 2000s, 2010s still like the already established mario&luigi series, luigi's mansion, paper mario- but of course the re re releasing of NSMB gets old
6:50 this doesn't seem fair to Galaxy 2. The entire point of the ending of Galaxy 1 was that the universe had been reset, and Bowser's plan was altered just slightly so that in the new timeline, those events wouldn't happen again. Galaxy 2 is quite literally what happens instead of the first game in the current timeline, and it's clear only Mario and Rosalina survive and remember the first game because the Lumas protected them.
I’m still always gonna be more impressed with Paper Mario’s remake to Mario and Luigi’s comeback. Just because Mario and Luigi always had the chance to return, but I assumed Nintendo was gonna be bull headed in how they approached Paper Mario. Here’s hoping they can both coexist as RPGs again, and that Paper Mario can retain what works from both the modern era and the classic titles. Also, DK has been pretty dormant, but everyone pretty much knows about the Donkey Kong Freedom game that was cancelled. Yoshi… is weird, those games I swear just materialize since they just happen whenever. But where is a Woolly World Switch port? And speaking of where- Where the heck is Wario Land? Ware is cool, but Land has been MIA for so long. But all this aside, I’m happy for the future of Mario. The next 3D game is an exciting prospect, we’re back to not knowing what 2D Mario will do, a new Mario Kart sounds good, Mario RPGs are in a hopeful spot (even if TTYD still concerns me if they’ll backpedal after it), I’m pretty confident DK will return in full force on the next console, and in general Mario is weird and fun again. …And Yoshi’s still just gonna continue to happen at random points. No disrespect to Yoshi or his series’ fans, the Yoshi games just kinda never get big talk or hype from what I hear. And who knows where other secondary characters will go, Luigi getting more Mansion titles aside.
So far this decade, the Mario franchise has enjoyed a Renaissance at the cost of the quality of their spin-off sports titles (Tennis Aces notwithstanding).
2:31 Ah, so you must see what I mean if you included a clip, above a certain point it becomes impossible to understand what it is trying to display, becoming little more than a mess of pixels, it's quite an achievement they managed to do it at all, but it's completely unplayable at least for me personally, I'm not very good at comprehension of visual things and the illusion of 3d graphics in games in general has never been very effective, but a very pixelated version of this illusion is even worse. I frankly think it would have been better for some people if they just did it from a top-down view.
I think that Nintendo’s and SEGA’s (when they try) absurdity with their games is what makes them so good and stand out from the cesspool of fps and rpgs we’ve been drowned with in the last decade
I'd like to think it's a mix of both Nintendo pandering to casuals and wanting to prioritize merchandise sales over anything else. Whenever a franchise becomes big enough, the merchandise sales are prioritized first and foremost over the actual product the merch is made for, and the quality ends up plummeting as a result. This is very evident with Pokemon and Sonic, and Mario fell into that trap for quite some time. It does feel Mario is going in the right direction though, especially since Nintendo's main competitors are starting to stagnate themselves with "games" that prioritize graphics over gameplay and are little more than overglorified, overpriced, and overly long CGI movies that make you wonder why Pixar and Dreamworks aren't doing the same.
See also Mortal Kombat… and this also blinds the companies to characters who could actually be great picks for merchandising. I’d buy an Ashley plush on sight. Same with Mona, Captain Syrup, 5-Volt, Shokora, Merelda… ESPECIALLY if they also get them in spinoff games like Kart.

10:41 I don't think that's fair to the Superstar Saga remake. Yes, the artsyle isn't the same as the original, but it looks so good in its own right and even has lighting effects which weren't present on the GBA. Though I will admit that the original Bowser's Inside Story looks better than in the remake.
Yeah that was a bit harsh
I think "so good" is a bit much. It looks okay, but it looks smeary and fuzzy while the original sprites popped and felt brighter
@@reilynn7891 Fair enough, if that's your opinion.

Fun Fact: This game did start off early on as a Mario game before becoming Doki Doki Panic.
"you could not live with your own failure, and where did that lead you? right back to me."
I still would've loved if the new M&L game had gone full into entirely hand drawn graphics, really embrace the series' iconic 2D art style.
But I'm just glad we're getting a new M&L game period
Honestly, I'm so hyped to see what they do with the stylized 3D that other games utilise so well.
That would be boring since they've already done it
It feels great to see Mario is back to being creative again. Whether it was thanks to Mario Wonder or Odyssey, I'm just happy that we have the era of Mario that made it what it was in the first place.
Miyamoto is greatly in shape, AFTER MORE THAN 40 YEARS
Welcome back Mario and Luigi I miss u.
It looks so unique. The NPCs are not just generic toads. We saw a lot of new characters in the trailer
now that m&l, mario rpg, and og paper mario are back from the dead and allowed to be creative again, i want another crossover game between them all.
4:04 Hey plumber boy, moustache man, your worst nightmare has arrived.

You sound kind of like Garfield ngl 😂
Mario RPG coming back is the crazyer addition
Theres a theory that the success of the movie from last year had something to do with it. Notice all of the new games discussed are post-movie?

DK being MIA and the Sports games barring Aces having a severe lack of content are probably the main problems with Mario in the Switch era.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is straight-up weird. It's Mario on drugs.

Do you think nintendo should try making a mario game based on the mario movie, that be interesting
Great video. Love your voice. I never considered that all three of Mario's RPGs are revived for Switch- that is crazy indeed!

Then why comment?
And 3d land
Especially dream team and dx superstar saga
Let me guess, you hate the new art style?
@@NickMario1He probably could have worded it better, but I think what he he meant is that Delzethin kind of trashed on Dream Team and the Superstar Saga remake, which was uncalled for as those games are really good.
I don't even think Paper Jam is that bad of a game despite undoubtedly being the worst in the series, but Delzethin didn't give it any credit where it was due.
I'm just hoping Super Paper Mario makes a return.
Sure, its different from the first 2 games, but Its still a great game with a Killer story
And maybe also a New, Massive Punch-out game Featuring Characters from Wii, SPO or even the arcade games! And there's also room for Existing Nintendo Characters to make an appearance like DK did in Wii's Last stand!
There's just so much possibility with this new era! The newest games like Wonder, Party Superstars and TTYD remake, there just seems to be no limit on how the original concepts would be refined!
A Super Paper Mario remake would be SOOOO GOOD
Now we just need to get Ashley, Mona, and Captain Syrup in Mario Kart.
@TheRogueMaverick
The original Superstar Saga had been on the WiiU Virtual Console for quite some time actually, but I do think it has a reason to exist.
12:56 i got a nintedo ad right when the logo clicked making me think you played the animation twice
Same
I wonder what’s next for Mario in the Next Era
I was baffled, when at first I thought that "If they're dead, at least Super Mario RPG has been revived for new people and maybe that can forge the way for a new future of Mario RPGs."
But no, it didn't pave the way for a new future, it paved the way for the past, present, and future alike. A new Mario and Luigi, the Fan requested TTYD remake (to the quality they had hoped for), and Mario RPG, all sitting next to each other.
Every time I look at it it makes me want to cry tears of joy.
7:44 what do you mean by: especialy 3d world. Do you mean 3dland is bad ??!??!?!?
He has no idea what he’s trashing, 3d land is goat
I can't wait to see a Paper Mario game in this environment.
The amount of charm we’ve gotten from recent games only makes me fear that someday we’ll get another period in gaming like the 2010s
I hate the fact that this game looks so amazing but Charles Martinet isn’t here anymore to voice it…
Great video! Just arrived into this delicious channel.
Great retrospective, the future is looking bright.
The movie gave Mario a lot of momentum, and I think Nintendo was smart for turning up the weird to make they captured the attention of the new generation who saw the movie with their parents. Glad they're being clever again!
I know they’re hated, but…
I love the NSMB games. All of them.
(Of course I love the more unique ones as well)
Is it just me or does 16:20 3D all stars sound off.
This video is really good though and a great retrospective on Mario.
Yeah, there's definitely a weird voice cut there. Editing issue?
3d land is a masterpiece
I also hope that all More imp Characters will get more Games for themselves in the Future.
Sarsaland and Teaches Typing returns?
Sidenote: this feels like seeing a famous 80's avant-prog band gradually shift to a stale pop rock group before hitting hard by making an album reminiscent of their even more aggressive early 70's years.
Nature is healing.
I'm not a fan of wonder but i like that they are being creative and innovative.
It’s cuz I started playing them.
thank you for saving the Mario franchise, maxgreen5675!❤❤
underrated comment
Mario feels like a true individual identity rather than an icon again, and I can’t wait to see if they stay in this renaissance or if they fall back. You got this, Mario! Roll Roll Roll!
(rolls into bargain bin)
Is it a stretch to call the sterilization era Mario's little dark age?
Hey! Mario is Missing was fun! But you do kinda have a point.
Omg i cant wait for m&l brothership
I’m really hoping to see a Super Paper Mario port to Switch or the next gen console.
As I said in a Discord server "Thanks to the Mario movie, The RPGS don't have to suck anymore.
What i find actually weird is, i played the thousand year door remake and saw the toads speaking of themselves as humans, same with the intro i think
Hard work to believe Nintendo finally broke away from soup
start of 2022: Two Mario RPGs on Switch (not counting NSO)
*blinks*
end of 2024: Six Mario RPGs on Switch
0:32 hate to judge ya on this, but Mario RPG is DEFINITELY not modern. It’s a remake
Of course. Still, they could have easily modernized the look but they made a very conscious decision to retain the unique weirdness of the original game. 10 years ago all of those designs would have been standardized for sure
Yeah and there were plenty of original looking games in the 2000s, 2010s still like the already established mario&luigi series, luigi's mansion, paper mario- but of course the re re releasing of NSMB gets old
Nintendo: Well that was a fun experiment. Anyways heres New Super Mario Bros. Switch2
Did he still never made a Shantae for Smash Moveset video?
6:50 this doesn't seem fair to Galaxy 2. The entire point of the ending of Galaxy 1 was that the universe had been reset, and Bowser's plan was altered just slightly so that in the new timeline, those events wouldn't happen again. Galaxy 2 is quite literally what happens instead of the first game in the current timeline, and it's clear only Mario and Rosalina survive and remember the first game because the Lumas protected them.
If Mario used to be Nintendo's avant-garde up until galaxy 1, I guess we can call this Nintendo's neo-avant-garde
Paper Mario The Origami King didn't work that well but it was an absolute blast to play
I’m pretty sure Mario and Luigi brothership was developed by Betadream
3d land and Mario kart 7 are still goat
2:31 Ah, so you must see what I mean if you included a clip, above a certain point it becomes impossible to understand what it is trying to display, becoming little more than a mess of pixels, it's quite an achievement they managed to do it at all, but it's completely unplayable at least for me personally, I'm not very good at comprehension of visual things and the illusion of 3d graphics in games in general has never been very effective, but a very pixelated version of this illusion is even worse. I frankly think it would have been better for some people if they just did it from a top-down view.
easy: designers got a new supplier of mushrooms
we need another mario sunshine
