There are actually several different species of lice all bonded to different animals. The three species that prey on humans, as you said, evolved with us and can’t survive on other animals. But there are also bird lice, rodent lice, cattle lice, etc. My pet rats have had lice before and it is not pleasant, but they also couldn’t pass their lice to me cause the kind of lice they get only bites rodents.

Me rewatching it in anticipation for the Netflix movie: Oh...
I think it was cancelled because not enough people were watching it to compensate for the budget it had. They did offer Vasquez another go at reviving the show later down the line but he turned it down because the budget they were offering wasn't enough, so he just continued the series in comic form. I'm not sure if the Bloody GIR thing helped either, for context, Bloody GIR was an image of well, GIR covered in blood, that the animators were sneaking into frames of animation

I'm starting to think of something. I remember people thinking that Ms. Bitters is some kind of paranormal being. What if Ms. Bitters and Countess are part of some sort of species of aliens or something that are disguised as humans that are resistant to lice, but for some reason still fear/hate them?

If I may interject with my own suggestion, I think Saber should do a short vid on "Emara, Emirates Hero". It's an excellent indie toon on UA-cam that I think deserves some exposure.
But if it's weird Christian cartoons you want, I recommend The StoryKeepers. It's got problems, but it's not god awful.

I was gonna say- no that actually makes sense.
Shaving head, chemicals, picking off the bugs, how you treat lice. She just seemed unreasonable to Dib, but that's all how you treat lice.
The Zim Blender Ray was even kinda like a vaccine- using tiny parts of someone immune to the [sickness] to form a cure.
It's just like, Dib just didn't like how she was helping them. It was effective, mostly painless (except for, maybe Zim- could have been faking that ow to be normal just saying) and quickly administered, but he thought it was cruel/unnecessary
Tl;Dr Dib just didn't like her style. Dib be hating.

Definitely recommend checking out Jhonen Vasquez's old graphic novels, like Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and Squee!
Even at Invader Zim's darkest moments, it was still more kid-friendly compared to those old comics. Albeit, while some of the comicbook issues are not as "organ-y" as the Dark Harvest episode, it does have some parts that include definitely Jonny/Nny doing things that aptly fit the title of his series, so a fair bit of warning on that...
Nny literally paints a wall with the blood of his victims. It's awesome. And when you get tired of the gore, you can enjoy the social commentary and deep characterization.

There definitely is some interesting commentary! I do like how he somewhat ribs the goth subculture for what was stereotypical of its time and the double-standard elitism/gatekeeping that was around in the early Internet days, which I hope isn't as big of a thing in the subculture these days (as someone that likes to somewhat dress goth and listen to the music, it was kind of a nice way to re-emphasize that goth subculture is like any other kinds of shared human interests/lifestyles, with varying types of branches and ways of expressing being goth).
Hey, I think you should check out Delhi safari/ jungle safari. Its an Indian musical about animals fighting deforestation. It got a 20% on rotten tomatoes and it's English dub has both Tara strong and Tom Kenny voicing main characters

My love for Invader Zim started with the comics that Jhonen made... Johnny the Homicidal Maniac (Or JTHM), Squee, I feel Sick.... I have a binder full of his comics in my closet and I pull them out every once in a while.... if you think Invader Zim is weird, you should totally look into all the comics Jhonen made! I know its not animated, but something that may tickle your fancy.
My mom got me into that stuff when I was a kid, loved it. I read JTHM before invader Zim, then I went back and re-read JTHM and just made the connection that my two favorite things were made by the same guy. Blew my mind. Also, not made by jhonen but Lenore the cute dead girl was also a great book. (Mom got me into that too) I remember looking at her copy of the book and trying to draw Lenore. Good stuff, wish we never lost those books to storage.

That really sucks you lost those comics in storage, I really have no idea how I have managed to keep up with mine. I got them out not too long ago and had some major nostalgia. We used to hit up the comic store on a weekly basis trying to get the entire collection. I vividly remember Lenore as well!! Ahhhh the good ol days before the internet was so widespread and you could find mountains of things like that with a few measly clicks. Good times!

The lice fight at the end reminds me of when you have to fight hyperdimensional hellbugs with a gun that shoots magic bug spray in a hive in Shadowrun returns. this is legit the endgame of Shadowrun returns.

Zim came out way too early for its target audience, we were too young to not be weirded out by it and didn't start to love it until we were a little older.
I actually have been waiting years for a cartoon reviewer to review this episode. Thank you Saber you’re a god for suffering for us 😭😭👊🤟
