When this episode was test screened at Nickelodeon in front an audience of children, one kid ran out of the room crying, and the others were visibly traumatized by the end.
When I first saw it, I did too; to the point I was terrified to see anything related to the show for years until I reencounted it in 2017 and became a fan
You know what's f-up? If what the teacher says is true, the moment the hall monitor (The first victim) leaves school grounds, the hall-pass-collar will explode. He's a walking bomb, they can't even rush him to a hospital to operate since the pass will simply go boom. They would basically have to operate him right there.
You kids never had any views of a certain Ren and Stimpy eh. .....No jokes aside this was incredibly dark and fucked up for Nick. They done lots of dark stuff in jokes, Catdog, Rugrats, Aah Real Monsters!, As Told by Ginger, Wild Thorberrys, Angry Beavers, they all had hugely dark moments or one of THOSE extra morbid episodes that take it one step beyond.... it's just Zim used that vibe as it consistent tone entirely. This was the only show I feel that truly mocked how authoritarian and dystopic the real world and hyper-capitalism/school is NOT just wacky good fun for us all.
I'll be honest, this episode scared the absolutely daylights out of 10-yo me. I stayed up past my bedtime to watch it and...yeah. I developed a fear of air vents for a while. But now I kinda find parts of this episode to be funny because my sense of humor is f-cked up. The show being absolutely disturbing and bonkers is why I love it so much, though. XD
Can we just acknowledge the fact that now we know some people at Nick Did some pretty messed up stuff... and we know organ harvesting is real... but an alien harvesting organs now... they trying to tell us something? Lol
So let me get this straight, Nickelodeon banned TMNT 2003’s episode “Insane in the membrane” from America for pretty much 10 years but was okay airing this immediately despite it being WAYYYYYYY more dark
I was already exposed to 70s-90s horror films as a kid before this aired, this was nothing traumatizing just goofy. But I guess the sheltered children finally got a reality check, that's awesome lol.

Nickelodeon had balls back then, approving dark shows like this.😂 Now it’s all about “gender this” and “gay that.” I just want a good show with a good story. That’s all 😂
you realize gay people aren't the reason this is happening, right? Western animation has been sanitized to hell-and-back for decades (I blame disney) and this level of 'darkness' is an aberration of that.

Wait is that true where did you hear that?
Yea honestly this is probably one of the more horrific episodes in the series
Common Invader Zim experience
Of course, they hired a guy famous for creating a serial ki1|er comic to make a kids show.
It's funny to see Zim actually attempting to play with his classmates
He’s so adorable. Very cute🥰🥰🥰
"You're full of organs... And you wouldn't mind if you were missing a few" is a line that lives rent free in my mind.

That's why Zim did what he did.
this was just relatively dark, as a nickelodeon topic it's actually quite frightful
its just a reflection of their whole company theyre a dark twisted company

Unfortunately, no other modern cartoon may ever try to be this edgy or dark.
Ngl, that moment when Zim steals that woman’s brain freaked me tf out as a kid. Especially when she starts foaming at the mouth 😬
Damn. I was in the womb when this was created.
3:43 This scream sound effect never fails to make me laugh
I've got a squiddily spooch
*pause*
*boombastic side eye by dib*
Gaz: I've got a squiddly spooch
Dib: WTF💀

What were they thinking?!
This episode was very disturbing.
Creators of Nickelodeon
So how dark do you wanna make this episode?
Invader Zim, yes

Pencil in my nose.
He could’ve just shooed the pigeon off
No telling what that would do for all anyone knows it could have attacked him
Zim will steal your heart 🥰♥😍💀😭
If cartoon Network could go with dark themes why can't Nickelodeon go for this route
this is the most disturbing thing I have watched in my entire life second to smile HD and happy tree friends
as a kid i really dont get it, can anyone timestamp the part which was bad? i watched the whole thing
he's stealing peoples organs
@@trashyCorn.12 ohh now that's dark to normalize

I don't think all these new fans realize this is a 90's thing. Like, the kids that watched this have grandkids, now. Y'all posers.
This cartoon actually premiered in 2001 lol
2:28😳😳

Man had one of his organs replaced.
Zim just replaced his kidney with an explosive collar that detonates once it leaves school. (Rip that kid)

Idk
This was actually one of my favorite episodes and in hindsight this would explain where part of an unfinished story idea of mine may have come from 🤔
Okay but like Dib, you didn’t have to give him the idea to steal organs by taunting him 😅
Wow didn't know they got Gen Urobutchi to work on this!!!
