I was surprised that all of the voices were still top notch, especially given the insanely taxing roles. Seriously, do these people not age?
The voice actor for Zim has continued acting as Kaos from Skylanders, so it makes sense that his voice is still great. I'm not sure about the rest of the voice actors though, they probably stayed in the voice acting business after the show was cancelled.

Tim Sweeney did a Swindle! With some line and blocking improvements. Such as more chair than man line being unique to the movie. Mini moose being there and Zim just being all together more expressive.
The only character animation difference I really noticed heavily was the Gaz’s eyes opened more in this movie than they did through the 2 season series. Haha threw me off at first.
Johnen vasquez actually mentioned that! He said he felt sad abt gaz in the original because she didnt get enough character and moments. She never had a reason to be there she just was. He said the movie fit what he wanted her to be in the beggining and finally gave a bit of character to her.

Malt Licorice I liked that part about her in this movie. There was just something about it that made me like her character more than I already did
I don't know, Dib and Gaz seemed to be drawn and animated super badly compared to everything and everyone else in the movie. Their facial expressions, especially their mouths, and their body movements looked like something from Steven Universe. :(

I believe Invader Zim: Enter The Florpus was one of the few revivals done right.
Especially since it took around two years. I think it took two years. This movie has been announced quite a long time ago. So much time, love, and effort put into it.
And the rocko's modern life revival was good as well

I think it’s cause it fit the universe that it was in and was genuine. It was also a great contrast to the dark humor (and fit the personality of the over exaggerated characters). A lot of other shows are forced because of the phase, so it feels weird and cringey.

Yeah I really liked Gaz on this. In the show it was "what the hell is wrong with this girl" which was good but kinda got old after a while. In this she keeps that wtf factor while also genuinely helping Dib and not just tormenting him 24/7.

It's a good movie, but it was really strange to see Gaz's eyes fully opened the whole time. It looks unnatural for her.
Vasquez explained he wished he had given Gaz more character development on the show. What you see in the movie is him doing just that.
Gaz' opened eyes symbolize her awakening. She is a full character now.

I agree, I like that they gave him a perfectly reasonable excuse for him remaining obvious/in denial. It'd been nice if there was more change/growth, but I think just getting THAT moment between him and Dib helps balance it.

I don't even understand why he doesn't believe in alien life. It's still totally possible and it would make sense if there were other creatures in the vast, endless universe.
@@stevensteviepryde5888 Lance makes a good comment. With them revealing that Membrane is a complete badass, him taking Zim seriously would effect the show.
But he's a man of Science, not Science Fiction. In the show we see that Aliens are real, but there's yet to be grand proof to the world; and even if there was people could probably brush it off. That's the "kinda real world" element that Sabre comments on.
So Membrane being "Oh, I got hit on the head and blacked out, this is all CLEARLY a hallucination because there is no way anything this scary and absurd would be real." Makes total sense for him. He's a very logical and rational man, which just also happens to mean he's blind to anything that is illogical or irrational. People can be like this IRL too.

I genuinely loved how they gave Gaz more charcater than just "angry goth gamer". Like, she's still angry goth gamer, but she has much kore character and actual emotional motivation.

Not to mention, The Creator of the show didn’t like how they depicted Gaz as a ‘Goth’ in the show. This is how she’s supposed to act originally apparently. I’m quite glad they gave her more character honestly
@@EmperorHoodieRai Well, I'd argue she is still goth. Raven from TT is considered Goth, and she has a personalilty with emotions and asperations, much like Gaz in the new movie. I just think her depiction in the show is a lot more shallow and one note. I just feel like she's a much more flushed out character in the movie, and people are complaining because their Goth Gamer Waifu changed.

The relationship between Prof Membrane and Dib hit really close to home for me in this movie... especially in the beginning. I LOVED how they gave Membrane's character room to grow as much as it did too.
This feels, minute for minute, like it was one of the early 2000s episodes. That is easily the best compliment I can give this. I don't think any other decade+ later continuation has ever felt this accurate to the original.
Yeah i got that vibe too. I has just watched the first episode and Dark Harvest right before seeing the movie and it just felt like the show with a bigger budget.
Yeah they definitely did a good job with it, I'm pretty happy.
Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus is beautiful, i ADORED the show as a kid and I was so happy when I saw the trailers. The movie itself has such a smooth artstyle, and its really nice to see it on screen once more!
Also, I don’t know if anyone else is noticing it, but can I just say how beautiful the palette is?
The palette was LOVELY. It's a little bit lighter than the show itself but it wasn't bad at all. It still fits the world perfectly.

Yeah, it's a lot more colorful and bright than the show. Honestly it is much more pleasing to look at. It's probably a big part of why they didn't have a lot of kids in the audience.
Although, I must say, it does mean it lost some of its' dystopian vibe, that and it makes Gaz look a bit strange.
For me, the animation, the style, the backgrounds, the colors in the movie was SO AMAZING!!! As young animator and artist, everything I the visuals were SO AMAZING.
The best part of Gaz knowing that Zim is an alien and not caring is that she fully knows how incompetent he is as well
If Invader Zim just continued on as hour or so long movies instead of a series id be ok with that.
or if they did the bomb format like Steven Universe. Just let Jhonen work at his own pace and complete a few episodes and then release them. Don't make him work week to week

I like how they brought back Tak's ship. That's a little consistently that I like that they added in.
I was kinda expecting them to find Tak in that alien prison later on, but the ship filled her role well enough for me!

@@Cyndersparx I'm almost positive they added that in just in case the show get's a reboot. That way they can have it so the ship saved her in secret when she was off screen.
I agree but I'm a bit disappointed that Tak herself didn't come back.
@@mjangelvortex Jhonen did say that he didn't want this to feel like a reboot, and just like a normal Zim episode. That's why characters like Mrs. Bitters and Tak didn't appear. It would have been cool if they did, but they wouldn't have really fit into the story, and would have been there just for nostalgia. Hopefully this leads to a revival though since I would love to see them again.
I was busted out laughing at the end when zim tried to call the tallest on the TV and the tallest screaming yelling going to different dimensions😭😭😂😂

A lot of people are weirded out by Gaz's redesign but it makes sense because it's been a long time since her original design when she was emo, so naturally she got out of that phase and became... less emo. But she's still the same Gaz, that's for sure.
Edit: However the sky is not red, which it always was in the show. I miss the intimidating and somewhat horrifying crimson red sky. That's my only "problem" with the movie, which it isn't really a problem because the normal sky looked really pretty with the rest of the color pallet.
Tino the movie takes place in the same time as it did in 2001, just updated in the worst possible way animation wise. I do not like Gaz’s new design one bit, but it honestly could’ve worked. Its just that they drew and animated her so poorly that she looks like an entirely different character which honestly just looks HIDEOUS. I’m really disappointed with the animation done seeming as it could’ve actually been improved with better quality CG animation due to the improvement of technology through the course of 18 years since the show’s original debut. But they actually went a step down in quality, and may have fallen down the entire staircase! Nonetheless, i did enjoy the story enough to actually be content with this movie, but to me i really don’t think they should continue this series. Just face it, the series was dead a long time ago, they just HAD to rip the carcass out of the ground and try to give it life again.

It’s been a very long time since I saw the show but I never noticed that the sky was red. That’s a cool way of setting a dark and gritty feel.
That was how she looked in the comics.

I don’t see anything wrong with the animation quality, it looks amazing, and honestly I’m extremely glad they revived the show since the way it ended was stupid anyway, with nick cancelling it and all that shit. if you have an issue with the movie, then ya don’t have to shit on it in its whole existence, because plenty of people enjoyed it.
When gir pulled out his little donkey and sword to do battle I laughed so hard. I watched the scene like 5 times before moving forward.
Oh my gosh yes. I wish the moment lasted a second or two longer, though. haha

You took the words right out of my mouth. I've seen the movie 7 times now and it still amazes me. The sense of nostalgia really hit me the first 3 times watching it, and, don't judge me, I cried each time. I missed Invader Zim so much for the past few years, and hearing that it was getting a movie continuation made me so stoked to see it, and it certainly didn't disappoint my expectations. In fact, it surpassed my expectations. From the animation style(s) to the colors it was an all around masterpiece to me. The fact that they got most of the original cast was just the cherry on top. This cartoon series was my childhood and I'll never forget it...
Remember that episode where Zim *C O N S U M E S* organs and replaces them?

@@Phroggiah It wasnt cancelled because of the things that were in it, it was cancelled because of the audience it was attracting. Nickelodeon at the time aimed for 4-10 year olds to be their target audience and invader zim had a much higher demographic consisting of 13 and 14 year olds. The same thing happened with "making fiends" another Nickelodeon show with high ratings that got canceled (on its first season i think) due to it missing Nickelodeons core audience.

One of my favorite episodes of all time.
I wasn't allowed to watch stuff like Invader Zim as a kid, infact I barely new the show existed, so this movie was my first experience of it. I absolutely adored it and plan to watch the show sometime in the future.

I remember that my family was camping around the time this movie came out. But that didn't stop me from turning on my data and watching the entire movie in a camper that had no AC. Worth it.

Yes! I read it as a teen, and that’s how I eventually found Invader Zim (after it got cancelled). It is fantastically insane and morbid.
Squee was pretty great too. Fav chapter is when Johnny visits him to ask for a band-aid after accidentally cutting his hand on the corner of a tin can
Invader Zim is my favorite cartoon, i love the art style and the story and ofcourse the characters, i love Zim so much! I hope there comes even more series!❤️
