Thank you so much for making this video. I have an 07 Titan with 210K miles on it. New Starter, alternator, battery and this is my exact problem. Totally random won't start. I will buy OEM for sure.
I’ve been having this same issue for the past 3 years or so with my 2011 Titan SL 4W Crew Cab. I finally took it to the Nissan dealer this past July 5th 2022. I let them keep it from July 5th - July 9th and could never get it to do it. Luckily the service advisor told me that he was not going to charge me for any diagnostics since they couldn’t get it to do it as well as he did not want to throw parts at it. When I went to pick it up, I decided to order the switch from the dealer due to I stay away from after market parts. I’ve run into issue when I had my Maxima and I installed an after market starters and. alternator on it. Getting back to the story I went through the remainder of summer and fall with my Titan wanting to start at times and then it wouldn’t start. I thought I had narrowed it down to the switch because I could turn the key on and off fast and then it would crank. I decided that I decided to replace the switch Jan 2, 2023 since I was beginning to have the issue frequently and it was working great until today, Jan 11, 2023. turning the key back and forth really did not help today. However I decided to try shifting the shifter from park to neutral and then back to park and it would start.. i also tried moving the shifter a little while turning the key and I noticed that it started to crank and then stopped.. I’m beginning to wonder if it nay be a neutral safety switch or was it just coincidental. I know some people have mentioned in threads about re[lacing the relay boards, IPDM etc, but on this year truck, it has the IPDM and not the old style relay board. I bought a new 2004 Titan when they first came out and they would do something similar to this and if I’m not mistaken, Nissan would replace the relay board. So to sum things up, the switch did not correct my issue and yes it is a switch from Nissan and I replaced the battery a while back. Also my old switch contact were burnt. Looks like I’m back at square 1.
I'm having the same issue with my 11. I replaced the started 2 weeks ago, the problem came back. I know I have a good battery, so that's not it. When I turn the key, voltage does not drop at all. Staying at 13 volts the whole time. Now the lights on the dash go dim, or out completely. Going to try the switch to see if thats it, but there is definitely a electronic problem rather than a battery or starter problem.
@@brentonpitre1089 I have not seen the issue where the dash lights go dim or out. However I wonder if you may have a bad clock spring. Normally the symptoms will start with your horn not blowing when you press in it, or your cruse control, steering wheel buttons not working. I need to replace mine. I’m hesitant about disconnecting the airbag. I just finished relaxing the passenger side parking brake shoes, rotor and hardware kit today. My parking Barack decided to go to the floor late last week. When I remover the rotor this past Saturday, everything fell out. The hard part of replacing them was getting actuator connected to the cable and the spring near the actuator connected to both shoes.
Also having the same issue … been going on intermittently for a few years … I have replaced the clock spring assembly not too long ago.. did not change these issues … it would only happen rarely but just today it started doing it multiple times each time I try to start it… I’m gonna try messing with the shifter some and see if there’s anything there .. and also look into replacing the ignition switch
@@baurwin1 Same issue as you. Has been intermittent for a few years. Once every month or two but would always start on the second try. Now it's daily and may take 10 tries. Replacing the switch today. Fingers crossed
Did I hear that even with the bad switch the starter is still clicking? I just put a new starter and a new switch from Oreillys. I just located a switch from pick apart I'll try but I was assuming since it was clicking, that it is not the switch.
I ran into this problem this week. If I slightly turn my steering wheel it kicks right off. I'm going to try this switch under the dash because I do have the click.
is this the reason why i have to turn my steering wheel to start my 07 Nissan titan? because i notice it makes a electrical click when turning both steering wheel and key.
@@tonyblankenship1883 Just seen this pop in and even though I had the click under the dash, I went out and took both battery terminals off, cleaned greased, put back together and haven't had the issue again, that's been a month ago.
it could be ignition switch , ecm relay, dirty battery cables , bad battery , starter and if you go to a mechanic they will change them one by one.. lol
Have the same problem, changed the switch, relays, full battery charge, next step is to test that it most likely is the solenoid. Not looking forward to that install. 😕
I think this is whats happening to my 05 Titan. Did this completely solve your starting issues, just the switch? I can't find an OEM ignition switch like yours for my year, except on Autozone, its a different part number, LS1461. I guess its worth a try but if this solves my problem and its not a relay, not starter issue I'll be so happy!!! Thank you for post your video as it does help narrow down the issue with our Titans. I hope this video gets more hits bc it solve this starting issue.
This has been happening to my 05 Armada for a couple years. Last night I changed the starter relay and I can confirm, its not that. I'm already on my third battery, which is about 10 mnth old, so it's not that either. Ive owned it since 2014 and only has 116k miles, so I doubt its the starter. Next would be checking the switch. Hoping its that.
@@MrBiggdaddy73 I haven't gotten around to getting the ignition switch. More than likely that's what it is. I'm going to get it from the dealer. Rather have a good OEM one than a off brand that won't last or work as it should
Just so everyone knows in this thread. I've changed this, the starter, and the updated ECM board. And its not any of this. Our 09 continues to do this on occasion. The latest that I've read is the positive battery fusible link assembly might be the problem, so I'm just going to replace all of it.
is this the reason why i have to turn my steering wheel to start my 07 Nissan titan? because i notice it makes a electrical click when turning both steering wheel and key.
@@212acres3 Well so far it’s only not wanted to start once after I changed that ignition switch. Wish I could say 100% every time it starts but there was that one and only time. But it started right after. Definitely give it a try for the cost of the part it’s worth a shot
That fixed it! Took my old one apart just to see what it looked like and it was major burnt inside. Surprised it was working at all.
Thanks,

Wish I had seen your video sooner. I have a Beck/Arnley switch coming today, hopefully I wont have an issue with it.
I went to nissan to buy the switch. They told me i have to buy the whole assembly. $700.00 where can i get oem. Switch
Thank you so much for this video man! Wow I was breaking my head here lol thank you brother 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That was happening to my 04 for 2 years and the starter finally died
Don't overload your key ring the weight ruins the switch sooner. So the duralast switch was defective? That seems kind of weird.
Very helpful! Had the same issue!

It maybe the starter relay in the fuse box under the hood on the far left facing it. STARTER RELAY 284B7-CW29E
Can a starter relay be an intermittent problem like this? I thought they worked or didn't.
there are other videos that say it's the ECM relay.

The part number you listed (487500M010) ebay says it does not work on my 2004 titan. Is yours a titan? Im confused.

It's low voltage of when starter is started and the contacts in the switch become soft
Do you happen to have the Bimmers part number so I can research it for my 2004 Nissan Titan Crew Cab 5.6L? Thx!
شكرا يا اخي العزيز❤
Changing this out for the second time today as the problem is reoccurring, this time with the OEM part found on ebay. Fifty bucks, hope it works.
Do you have a link to ebay to buy it?
OEM NEW Genuine Nissan Ignition Switch 1996-2016 Pathfinder Versa 48750-0M010 (same part for Titan)
do you have the link were you got the part from?
I broke my key off in the switch and computer says tunnel can I fix it myself?
Thank you so much!!!
I sprayed WD 40 into the ignition switch to solve my problem. Of course that was after trying everything else on here.
Ya killed it by over working it 😮
Solenoid.
What’s a good part number for a 2004 Titan? I ordered one from eBay and they told me 487500M10 is not the correct part number.
It maybe the starter relay in the fuse box under the hood on the far left facing it. STARTER RELAY 284B7-CW29E
That's the correct part number
Did you figure out correct part number? I found that one too but says wont work on titans.
