Plus all the crazy stuff they had done over the years. Maxing out a Veyron, supercars in the Nardo ring, train cars, reliant robin rolling/rocket, mini ski jump, fiesta in a beach assault, anphibious cars, and a ton of cars that they reviewed...this is the GOAT TV show. After Jeremy got sacked it will never be the same
For me, the 11th intro is what always sticks in my mind. Opens with a drifting 911, has the rocket Robin, and that awesome ending with the Aston Martin.
Doctor Who (Despite Its Many Slight Changes) Has Had The Same Theme Consecutively From 1963 to 1987, 1996 and 2005-2021, in total thats 38 Years, but if you were to count since 1963, its 58 years, and its been licensed since 1965
Top Gear was my childhood. First watched them back in 2011 but i rewatched every episode of every season at least half a dozen times. When they left and started the Grand Tour, i continued to watch that as well. One for the Road had me in tears, thank you for the memories, Chaps.
That was the best era of music in general. Everything from that time is just so good. I couldn't wait to hear the first time they brought in the stylish touch of the 90s and 2000s.
The boxes and presenter silhouette intro are representative of the best parts of the show, and what we all come to the show for: the presenters. Newer top gear places all of its emphasis into the cars instead, which is represented in the intro too.
That 1977 tune, I don’t know what it is about it but theres something about it that makes it the best theme ever. The soft warm tone of the audio, the almost bright energetic and childlike nature of the guitar, the 1977 aesthetic slapped all over the slides, the fun and playful baseline that holds and tightens up the entire track, the drum beat that keeps the entire song at a fast pace, the almost mysterious nature of it since we have almost no public archives of the early episodes.
That’s because it’s by the Allman Brothers band my friend! One of the greatest bands ever, Duane Allman is an awesome guitarist. If you’ve never listened to southern Rock, definitely give them a listen!
The original 1977 and the ones with Jeremy, James and Richard are of course the best. But I think the intro’s from 1998 to 2000 are very good too! Man that guitar sound slaps.
Ah, Jessica, one of the truly great instrumentals by the Allman Brothers. Strikes me as a little odd that a British car show would use an American southern rock tune for a theme...but it still fits perfectly, and there's never a time I don't like hearing it.
There's a comment in another vid I saw back then but the 10th, 11th, and 12th intros aren't Top Gear's intro; but rather they're Hammond, Clarkson, and May's intro
I’m thankful that their relationship was great and rather then staying on the show when clarkson got fired they all moved together and look how well the grand tour has done
The new top gear intro seems so dull compared to the older ones, the 11th intro had a boat car, a super stretched limo, a Bugatti racing a euro fighter typhoon and a reliant robin space shuttle while the new top gear intro just has sports cars
The one my house always remembers is the 09 one with the sliding 911, Richard spinning the F1 car, the reliant robin rocket, the hilux smashing into the snow bank and the Aston’s front grille!
Любимое шоу на автомобильную тематику смотрел (перезапуск) озвученные выпуски Николаем Фоменко на канале Рен-тв в детстве мне очень нравилось и конечно же музыкальная тема Top Gear Джессика забыть нельзя
Personally i they should've made a different version of Jessica for the 2015 reboot of TG. Having the same version trio had since 02 just never sat right with me.
I think it's kind of interesting to note that post-2015, the intros went back to focusing more on the cars themselves like from the '70s to '90s, while the intros from 2002 to 2015 put far greater emphasis on the presenters. I'm not a blind hater of 2016-2022 Top Gear by any means, I just thought it was mostly passable, but it's probably saying a lot that perhaps even the BBC realised that aside from maybe Chris Harris, the newer presenters just didn't bring the same life blood and personality that the 2002-2015 era demonstrated.
4:27 Series 2 episode 1. Why is the audio wrong in the clip with Mays Bentley tho, its from Murry Walker arguing his case for why the McLaren F1 is the greatest car in the world from S3 Ep1
My favourite ones are with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May from 1997 to 2015, and why the BBC copyright Top Gear's current intro, is it because Top Gear is produced by the BBC isit?
A great selection though you should have left in some of the opening voice over from the old Top Gear to help people understand why Jeremy is parodying it, the whole tonight on Top Gear bit
Loved the “Silhouette and Boxes” era. It was awesome seeing the boxes slide behind the presenters.
It's a bit GTA 3
Love it haha
Big inspiration from the Cowboy Bebop opening

The era of Top Gear I came to know and grew up with
That's when the shoe started focusing more on the presenters.
For me, the 11th intro is what always sticks in my mind. Opens with a drifting 911, has the rocket Robin, and that awesome ending with the Aston Martin.
The Hilux hitting the snow bank too
I honestly didn't even realize Top gear went as far back as 1977.
I think it’s very first presenter was a woman if I recall correctly, but I think this was when the show was still being a pitch to the BBC.

It also doesn’t try to sound epic or grand like the newer ones do. It definitely just has a completely tone as you described it.
For me personally I like rock music and 1999-2001 is the best one for me but for the actual show 2002-2015 is best
I think we can all agree that the 2006-2014 intros were the best

Everything peaked in the late 90s and the 2000s and so did Top Gear intros. What a time. They haven't even changed the music since then.
We watch the intro for 20 seconds to see the history of the intro.
Brilliantly 👏

5:03 and 5:34 are the best, change my mind
2003-2015 is top gear
2016-present is some random unknown car show
