It's critical for you to learn and practice what many people call square breathing, or controlled, purposeful breathing technique. It begins without relaxation of your diaphragm. Consontrate on exhaling completely while, as much as you can maintaining a relaxed diaphragm, then you take in a smooth, full breath through your nose.Hd that breath for a count of 4, exhale completely in a rhythm that ends on a count of four. Relax counting to 4, then repeat the process. It will take a bit of patience and practice, but eventually you'll easily find your bodies own rhythm, so your square breathing doesn't leave you out of breath, or where you're hyperventilating. Trust me, this worked like magic for me, and others I've suggested to try it. The real key, and critical to success is to close your eyes and RELAX YOUR DIAPHRAGM. Think about "becoming your breath". The Buddhist Monks have been doing this for centuries so there's something to consider about it. With practice i give you my word, if you are serious about it and keep trying to relax (total relaxation of your neck and face seems key as well), use as little muscle movement as possible (even in the way you change from inhaling through your nasal passage to exhaling out your mouth, with as little movement in your mouth), I'm as sure as I can be, you will eventually reach a point where YOU are in control, not your emotion... Please try, try, try! Pass this on, share it with your friends and family. Good health to you, and blessings on your adventure. ⚖👨⚖️⚖ JudgeGarry

A clean bike retains its value longer. Budget tips: Old toothbrushes are good replacements for those tools, it just takes longer to wash. Love this, but seriously.... I only had a yellow dish sponge, a common garden hose with no nozzle and a dry pair of rags (one for wiping off the chain, and one for wiping off the rest of the bike) 1) Set your bike up against a wall or put down the kickstand 2) hook up the hose and place your thumb over half of the end of it to produce a slightly pressurized stream. 3) quickly hose the whole bike including chain, everything. Get off all large pieces of dirt and leaves from every corner. 4) quickly take rag number one, wipe every part of the bike starting from the wheels until mostly dry. 5) then take sponge, get sponge completely wet, squeeze once, use soft side to get the rest of the dirt from all over the bike. 6)squeeze sponge till completely void of water and dab the bike clean. (Quick cleaning above) (Deeper clean instructions below) 7) get on bike, ride forward and shift chain to highest front wheel gear, lowest back wheel gear, apply rockstar gold lube(cleaning plus lubricant wet lub if don't have) by dripping it on chain from lowest back wheel gear while you spin the chain. Then let spin for few seconds, then take rag two and hold the chain on the bottom by the back wheel shifting mechanism then spin chain while holding it, pull chain through the rag, repeat till you think its clean enough. 8) Apply lube as in step 7, but this time, let chain spin till it stops dripping lube on the ground, pull full chain length through rag like twice as in step 7. Take bike somewhere and let sit for 2 hours for maximum effect(doesn't matter though) This should take you like 25 minutes on your first try and 10-15 minutes on all others depending on how dirty everything is. You're Welcome. ;D (Do what is in the video for deep deep cleaning) should do when super dirty or after like a month of bike riding on regular roads no weather conditions)

I've always heard not to use dish soap on a bike, as it usually contains salt which can cause your bike to rust more quickly especially in tight crevices. Opinions?
Cody Kautz I’ve heard the same - why would they not use a bicycle specific shampoo or car shampoo considering how thorough they are in every other regard? Also, dish soap would remove any wax protection from the paint too.
Highly highly highly doubt that dish soap contains salt, but check the ingredient label. Moreover, if you are using "hard" water there may be "spots" of calcium deposits ... from the water! Not that I would worry about it too much. Usually only a problem in plumbing.
I discovered this channel a few days ago, and I just realised how wrong I have been using my bike all these years… hell I never even considered washing it, no wonder it is becoming hard to pedal 😅
It seems like such a trivial task but you can do so much wrong. There's nothing like the feeling after you cleaned and lubed your bike perfectly though
Respectfully, experience has taught me that this is silliness. How to _really_ clean a bike in two steps: 1) spray entire bike with WD-40 2) blast all of it away with an air compressor If it's *really* tough grime, 3) 'Scrubbing Bubbles' and a toothbrush (no water), then repeat #1 and#2. Assuming you have the room, the compressor, and WD by the gallon, you don't have to waste all of this time and effort just to end up promoting rust inside all of your bearings. And chain lube is a waste. No hate; I've just changed my mind over time and after many bike restores.
I jus wanna day these videos are amazing and I just ordered the chain scrubber tool! My only critique on the videos is that they could be much shorter - we A.D.D millennials want the pertinent information fast, so I find myself scrubbing through the videos on my own and then miss important info. But like I said the videos are great and very informative!

One thing I learned over decades of dirt biking is if you have dried out clayish mud on your bike is to buy the cheapest laundry detergent you can find. Put it undiluted (as much as you can) into a cheapo spray bottle. You might have to dilute to get the sprayer bottle to work properly. Generously spray down the bike and then the most important thing is to let the laundry detergent spray dry COMPLETELY. Once it's dried just rinse off. Usually no need to brush at all. Never use a high pressure nozzle - just the hose end or a water bottle like Calvin used. The magic is in letting the laundry detergent totally dry out before rinsing. Try it, you'll be impressed.
“Thank you for washing,” this man is a national treasure.

It seems like such a trivial task but you can do so much wrong. There's nothing like the feeling after you cleaned and lubed your bike perfectly though
Awesome, thanks. I was thinking I needed to lubricate the gears, front and rear. Appreciate you for the clarity!
Title should have been :
"How to wash a bike while under the influence of a moustache".
Great concentration challenge.
Thanks.
Two gags in one tutorial. Calvin's on fire 🔥
Did you say "Thank you for washing" instead of watching... Lol... 16:18
yup this video is full of puns.
Best bike wash video I’ve seen to date 👍
Respectfully, experience has taught me that this is silliness.
How to _really_ clean a bike in two steps:
1) spray entire bike with WD-40
2) blast all of it away with an air compressor
If it's *really* tough grime,
3) 'Scrubbing Bubbles' and a toothbrush (no water), then repeat #1 and#2.
Assuming you have the room, the compressor, and WD by the gallon, you don't have to waste all of this time and effort just to end up promoting rust inside all of your bearings.
And chain lube is a waste. No hate; I've just changed my mind over time and after many bike restores.
I agree with you. This is made a little more complicated than it actually is.
quite thorough for the minimal materials required,
Excellent. Calvin is a genius!
Thank you for washing LOL… Can’t get enough of your videos!
Calvin has anyone told you that you look like vinny from the movie Atlantis.
The look is uncanny.
He's Vinnys less evil twin
It was great seeing him at the Global Bike Festival this year!
Riveting Video! I'll certain wash it again.
14:58 and 14:59 you can hear the cameraman trying not to laugh after Calvin's pun, and then hear Calvin himself trying not to laugh as he continues talking lol
I like the soapy water in the chain scrubber...nice tip!!!
instead of water bottle, i use a garden watering can :3
that's actually a great idea. Thanks for the hint
@@Abraksas112 Be sure to do it on your lawn, asshole. You know, because your bike is lubricated with tree sap and rainbows.
If you're confused, OP, I'm talking about this super brainy "Avenged84" comment:

@Navi... Cute :)
Thank you for washing! LOL
Nice video! I like the outro “thank you for washing”
i use a watering can for pre wash and final rinse works a treat
