Calvin Jones is the best tutorial on youtube. He is a real shop master, mechanic and teacher. I bet he can teach you Calculus and you get it. I watch his videos all the time when I need to repair my bike and when I'm bored. Tumps up Calvin, and thank you.
Man I'm a brand new biker and I am grateful that someone like Calvin is there on UA-cam, passing on wisdom. Because I'm surrounded my idiots in my country, including the idiot who sold me this bike.
100% used their tools because of these vids and I've switched to quiet, durable road tires, changed out the cassette for higher top speed and adjusted my derailleur to stop that annoying clicking noise. Top notch tutorials and tools
Mr. Jones always speaks with clarity and excellent diction. I only watch his videos when I need information on bicycle repair and maintenance. I will not rest until the city council erects a bronze statue of him at the bike lane intersection of Wharf and Government streets in my home city Victoria, British Columbia. Ideally, he would be holding a chain whip (or some other awesome Park tool) triumphantly above his head in celebration of having the best bike repair videos on the internet! Well done, Calvin!
I know this video is old, but I got to say thank you! I've done maintenance on every part of a bike except 2 parts that I was always hesitant with... the cassette area and crank area. This video has helped me tremendously! It's WAY easier than I thought. Removed the old and installed the new cassette in about 10 minutes! Thank you Calvin for yet another helpful tutorial!
Sometimes I press the arrow key to fast forward 5 seconds, but for this guy, I watch the whole video. I even tried watching him at a different speed like 0.5 and 0.75, and he's not bored at all. Thanks, you are the man!
Thank you so much! I used the video to install a new cassette on my old, old bike. I also ended up buying the Park Tools chain pliers (easy to use) and the FR-5-2 removal tool. And afterward, I watched the Park Tools rear derailleur adjustment video because the shift indexing changed a little bit. These videos explained everything perfectly.
This comes several years too late, but I felt the urge to thank Park Tool and C. Jones for their tutorials. They made my first rear wheel swap a piece of cake. I knew exactly what to do after watching this.
Back on full send only cause of you, my second try and I literally said that craxkin sound ain't good PARKTOOL gotta have a video on UA-cam? Heaven sent, and GOD BLESSED you are. VERY SERIOUS ABOUT COVERING ALL THE VARIABLES, THANKYOU
I've already watched the videos for adjusting front and rear derailleurs and then followed the process. Made it easy. Having changed my chain, I'm now changing the 8-speed cassette. The instructions are perfect. Thanks Calvin!
I bought a second hand bike cuz I was broke, it was broken and I didnt know anything about bikes... ended up repairing and buying all the tools... now I am building bikes thanks to you ❤😂
I returned to this video after five years. It helped me rediscover my lock-tool, chain-whip and wrench. I do worry that I may have replaced the spacers the wrong way around though.
You guys are the best...the information that you carry on your website and via UA-cam is truly invaluable for anyone wanting to carry out bike maintenance....many thanks
That tip for using the skewer is brilliant. My removal tool was like this and it took two people to unscrew the cassette. One to hold the whip and apply torque and one to hold the tool in place.
Anyone wanting to teach anything on any subject on UA-cam should first learn how to from this good man. If only my school teachers were as nice when I was a kid !
These tutorials are great - easy to follow and clear. Bought a couple park tools already and will continue to buy their tools simply because of these tutorials. Great work.
3:45 If you hadn't shared that knowledge nugget, I would have thought I'd broken things. usually zipping sounds when you are trying to remove things is a bad sign, but not in this case. Great video, very in depth, God bless
I noticed Calvin using the chainwhip on the smallest cog. I always used the largest cog because I am probably doing it wrong as is my tradition with anything mechanical. I figured that there would be less force on the chainwhip and thus easier to use. Next time Im trying the small one. Videos like this make me want to take apart my bike "just because" :).
Wish I had these videos to refer to back in my early teen years (age 28 now). These videos would have definitely saved me loads of time and frustration. Although, I did get by with trial and error.
Thank you, Calvin. This video enabled me to buy the right tools (in my case, an SR-2.3 and an FR-5.2G) and remove and replace my rear cassette. Much appreciated!
Thanks Park Tool for your detailed instructions in great tools. Couple bucks more for not half and an order another tool after the third use is well worth that to me. I was sure I knew what I was doing but to see it done before I did it really helped me zipthru the procedure! Freehub off everything cleaned bearings back in in less than 5 minutes.
What a great video. About 2 minute after beginning and with the casset removed i thought that it was over, bu it keep going showing everything. Very complete.
Very clear & great tips ... took a lot of force so I'm really glad to have the right tool for the job and also thanks for the warning about the awful noise it would make when it first moved!
Good God the best instructional video I’ve seen . I loved the overview the the detail and the perceived pull on the wrench of 50 lbs at 8 inches was amazingly helpful. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much for all these videos. I have been able to learn exactly what I needed to know and your instructions are so simple yet detailed. Again, thank you 😀

Absolutely true. In addition I like his 'Walt Disney character' like look
Could not agree more

Agreed 100%

Lucky you mine has broken a chain whip and bent the second one it's ridiculous
Yet another thorough, comprehensive, well-paced, and detailed Park Tool instructional video. Thanks so much, Park Tool. You’re awesome, Calvin!
❤🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🌷
the fact that he explained every lockering tool helped me so much 🙏🏼🙏🏼
This guy knows his stuff. Excellent teacher in his field.
Sometimes I press the arrow key to fast forward 5 seconds, but for this guy, I watch the whole video. I even tried watching him at a different speed like 0.5 and 0.75, and he's not bored at all. Thanks, you are the man!
Whenever I get the blues I click on over to Park Tool and re-watch my favorite Calvin tutorials. Boom! Blues are gone.
Thats ironic considering Park Tool's signature color hah

For 40 years I had freewheels. My new commuter bike had a cassette. Now I have new Park tools. Thanks!
Calvin is a great teacher, i'm in the process of changing my cassette & now feel more confident than ever at doing it on my e-bike ! ! ! ! ! :-) LOL
Yeah Calvin is the double of my dad who is sadly now passed away, so I love watching these for that and the tips, thx Calvin
I've already watched the videos for adjusting front and rear derailleurs and then followed the process. Made it easy. Having changed my chain, I'm now changing the 8-speed cassette. The instructions are perfect. Thanks Calvin!
“Thanks dad!” (In everyone’s mind)
Yeah 😂
Not dad but guru yes. The guy is so technical. I love it.
He's Harry Dean Stanton in my brain.
He's great, but put your feelings aside.
There's no higher compliment in my book!
I bought a second hand bike cuz I was broke, it was broken and I didnt know anything about bikes... ended up repairing and buying all the tools... now I am building bikes thanks to you ❤😂
I have many Park Tool brand tools in part due to these videos.
Calvin and crew do a thorough job with these tutorials.
anyone else watch these for fun ??
Your videos are absolutely awesome. I had ZERO confidence, nor skill, but now i'm able to do many things, and i appreciate it. Thanks.
I returned to this video after five years. It helped me rediscover my lock-tool, chain-whip and wrench. I do worry that I may have replaced the spacers the wrong way around though.

Calvin Jones is the Zeus of the bicycle world!
Glad I watched this before attempting to remove my cassette tonight. You saved me from a lot of headaches Calvin!
Top notch instructional video. I find these videos slightly better than CGN's tutorials...it's more thorough and cleaner presentation.
Calvin is the absolute Best, if not he is the Master Jedi of bike repair...
These tutorials are great - easy to follow and clear. Bought a couple park tools already and will continue to buy their tools simply because of these tutorials. Great work.
Well scripted, outstanding clarity and excellent close-ups. Thanks for making this video.
@Carl Green By all means, fit that tool well.
The best tutorial on UA-cam 👍

You are a great teacher as well as a great videographer Calvin.

Great video, thanks Calvin! It was nice to meet you in the Grand Junction airport and I appreciate the wrench you gave me! Cheers
Park Tool blessing me with clearly communicated cost-saving tutorials once again.
I always check your videos before working on my bike and they really are amazing. Thank you for making these.

A trusted source to rely on for our covid stay at home bike wrenching hobby. Thank you Calvin Jones!
All how-to videos should be this straightforward and clear.
Changed my cassette for the first time. Thanks again Mr. Jones! 🙏🏻
Calvin is the best, His videos have helped me many a time. Precise and clear.
These videos are so helpful!!! Love mountain biking, but I can't leave my bike at the shop for 3 weeks when it needs maintenance..
You need two bikes
Wish I had these videos to refer to back in my early teen years (age 28 now).
These videos would have definitely saved me loads of time and frustration.
Although, I did get by with trial and error.
As a teen mechanic, agree. ParkTool™ has saved me from many disasters through their guides.
Thank you, Calvin. This video enabled me to buy the right tools (in my case, an SR-2.3 and an FR-5.2G) and remove and replace my rear cassette. Much appreciated!
While Calvin has a dry delivery, his videos are super informative and cover just about every possible scenario. I love this guy!
Calvin Jones is the best. Thanks for yet another great and informative video.
This video contains zero BS. I'm really satisfied.
Thanks for all the help. This was really useful for wrapping my head around Cassette maintenance.
What a great video. About 2 minute after beginning and with the casset removed i thought that it was over, bu it keep going showing everything. Very complete.

watching this just prevented me from making a huge mistake...thank you so much
He just makes everything so simple to understand, fantastic teacher
I love things that are exceptionally well explained. Great job.
Calvin's videos are the best. What I don't get is how his hands are always so clean. If I even look at my bike, my hands become filthy.
Park Tool makes the best videos on UA-cam. No question about it.
What can be said for these videos! This guy is pure gold!
This video wins, adding the time to skip forward to is an auto thumbs up! Plus fantastic explanation!
00:06:50 "If there is play, then it's likely there's a missing spacer."
Yep, thanks for the heads up. I wouldn't have noticed without this reminder.
Ongelofelijk ik denk dat ik doe deze filmpjes al zeker 150 euro fietsenmakerskosten bespaard heb. Top! Bedankt
Good God the best instructional video I’ve seen . I loved the overview the the detail and the perceived pull on the wrench of 50 lbs at 8 inches was amazingly helpful. Thank you very much.

These videos are great, just getting back into my bike, and I’ve always liked doing my own maintenance and customisation they are helping greatly 👍🏼
I hope Mr Jones know how great this video was... nailing the removal of the cassette within 20s of the video - Right to the point haha.
As always, the best bike maintenance vids on youtube :)
Great video as always. Super easy to follow. And I just realized the background music is the same as used by 1AAuto!
