Coronavirus: Michael Levitt on the Possibility of a Cure

In this webcast, Prof. Michael Levitt, Nobel Laureate in chemistry from the Stanford School of Medicine, discusses the possibility of a cure for the disease with S. Alice Mong, executive director of Asia Society Hong Kong. (55 min., 10 sec.)
Given the facts which are referenced, this interview took place around the middle of February, probably mid-February or shortly before. This would match Professor Levitt's other video interviews on the subject.
As of 21/02/20, whilst the virus in China has almost abated, it has accelerated markedly in other place, most notably Italy.
It would be interesting to learn Professor Levitt's current views.
Italy has a more sociable culture than China, and has more elderly people. That could explain it.

Got to treat it early. Before it progresses. The first day of starting a safe effective treatment protocol, on the infection time line, is a crucial and highly significant factor in saving lives.

Good stuff but a bit late.
Levitt does not understand the PCR test. It is often as positive or negative but the underlying technique is quantitative, giving an idea of the viral load. Also it measures RNA, not DNA, in the case of the coronavirus.

You are correct. I noticed that.
His prediction has worked out a lot better than Ferguson’s model which would have Israel at around 100k deaths by now.

At 11.09 he says "I don't believe it (coronavirus) is going to be very dangerous." This guys thinking is so muddled and inaccurate he should not be taken seriously on this subject.
In fairness, he was spot on about that. The doomsday modelling was exponentially wrong.

U should have Dr Aylward. Of WHO Team in Wuhan. Better to have an expert in the field.
He would be biased and giving a false political narrative. Best to have an outside genius analyze hard numbers. You can't get around the numbers..
